Yep, you give us five minutes. We're going to give you encouragement, because it can be hard to find encouragement, especially easy encouragement. So we're going to bring you some good news and encouragement for your day and after you've listened. If you want more encouragement, you can always tune in to WPER Virginia's home for encouragement.

You can also download the app. Oh yeah, if you're way out of the listening area of WPER, you'll find the app. Just search WPER where you go to get your apps. That kind of a thing. Do you ever wake up expecting to have no more problems at some point in your life?

I saw this a while back. Somebody wrote this about how we go about life, trying to solve problems or some situation in our life or some circumstance, thinking in the back of our mind oh, once this is solved, or once this is resolved, then it'll be smooth, it'll be okay, I'll hit a place where I'll feel like it's going to be good.

0:01:02 - Heather

You know, I promise you this is me. Every December, like I'd say the last week of December, I start praying for the new year really earnestly. Yeah, because I always in the back of my head still have that optimistic little girl like this year's going to be better, and all that stuff is in the rear view mirror of this last year and all those hard things I went through and all the ick and goo and stuff and junk and things.

0:01:26 - Eric

Things will change. You'll have a clean slate.

0:01:28 - Heather

Yeah, like it's going to be smooth sailing and we'll enjoy a period of super happiness and easy times.

0:01:34 - Eric

So someone said the best thing because you don't really want nothing on your to-do list even as hard as it is.

0:01:41 - Heather

I know and we say we do, but maybe for a small time, like a day or two, right?

0:01:46 - Eric

Life is about problem. It says it right in the Bible yeah, you're going to have trials, you're going to have tribulations, you're going to have problems, you're going to have things you have to deal with over and over again. So the perspective really here is what they say is, although life is an unending series of complications, we shouldn't be surprised that there are more coming.

0:02:06 - Heather

Right, right, but somehow we always are.

0:02:09 - Eric

None of us want it to be that way, but stuff is going to break. You're going to catch a cold at some point, you're going to lose something that's valuable to you, whether it be material or somebody important in your life, and so problems or circumstances that we face will continually come, but again, like the Bible says, you'll have the trials and the tribulations.

0:02:33 - Heather

Yeah, but that verse goes on to say that-.

0:02:35 - Eric

The best part.

0:02:36 - Heather

Jesus has overcome the world right, he has already. He has been through all the goo. If you look at everything Jesus went through. He went through trials and suffering, like as a little boy, and as he grew up and one of his best friends, Lazarus, died. Jesus knew he was going to raise Lazarus, but he still cried. So he has been through all the emotions that you and I come standard equipped with, because he was fully human, he was also fully God and because he has not only walked the paths that we've walked, but he has overcome those paths. That's where our hope comes from that he has been there, he has overcome it and he will get us through it.

0:03:27 - Eric

Let this encourage you you are not behind in life. I think that comes down to a comparison thing sometimes, because you see other people achieving or being in a place where they seem to have it together and you don't. But honestly, you're not behind.

0:03:43 - Heather

No, social media will definitely make you feel like it.

0:03:46 - Eric

That's a big one, isn't it that?

0:03:47 - Heather

is a huge one because, like, well, we're the same age and she's got that kind of job. Well, I guess I could have been doing that, but we don't get to see like their crummiest moments. Nobody's posting. Here's my low point, yeah.

0:03:59 - Eric

I mean, wherever you are right now is exactly where God wants you to be, your place in life Of all the billions of people on the planet. We all can't do the exact same thing and be on the exact same schedule at the exact same time. That wouldn't make any sense.

0:04:14 - Heather

But you know that can sound disheartening and we don't mean it to, because Eric and I have both been at really low points in our lives. But if you are right where you are right now and you're miserable and you kind of want to yell at Eric for saying you're right where you're supposed to be, realize that this is part of the construction process.

0:04:32 - Eric

That's all it is. I mean, some people marry early, some get married late, some people have children early.

0:04:38 - Heather

Some people never have children.

0:04:39 - Eric

You think, compared to what? Compared to whom? Compared to nothing? Again, it's a comparison thing and that's a dangerous game to play.

0:04:46 - Heather

It is, and gosh, it's so detrimental to our not only our mental well-being, our physical well-being, but our spiritual well-being, because then we start to get mad Like God. Why didn't you do that for me?

0:05:01 - Eric

And, in the end, it is about God, designed specifically for you. You're right where you need to be right now. Well, we hope you've been encouraged in the past five minutes. If you need more encouragement, oh, we got it for you.

0:05:13 - Heather

Oh, do we ever? W-p-e-r Virginia's home for encouragement, but if you're a little outside the listening area, you can always download the W-P-E-R app wherever you get your apps.
