I'm sitting here at Waikiki Beach in Cape Disappointment State Park in Washington state.  It's strange because this is a place, one of those places to get explosive waves hitting the cliffs and they backwash and hit the waves coming in and get these spectacular plumes that come up and sometimes the sun and everything, the color is just unbelievable.

Sometimes peaceful and calm is better. We all look for excitement in our lives and I'm sitting here at Waikiki Beach in Cape Disappointment State Park in Washington state.

It's strange because this is a place, one of those places to get explosive waves hitting the cliffs and they backwash and hit the waves coming in and get these spectacular plumes that come up and sometimes the sun and everything, the color is just unbelievable.

You come out to this parking lot sometimes and there'll be 40, 50, 60, even a hundred or more photographers here all set up and you can't find a parking place and it's almost frenetic the activity going on.

That's cool. I understand that, but what I don't understand, I'm here on an early Sunday morning. The waves are low, they're peaceful, they're lightly splashing up against the cliffs.

I'm the only person here. In a place that if the tides are high, if the tides are right, this place is so packed, you can't even find a parking place.

We all chase that big explosive,... the next shiny object syndrome, whatever you want to call it. We're all chasing the big explosive things... when maybe what we need is the calm, quiet and peaceful things because when I pull into the parking lot and realize I'm the only person here, I know I'm going to have, I don't know, 15 minutes, half an hour, an hour of awareness.

I call it awareness. It's meditation. To me, meditation is awareness. And that's what I am I, I get to set and be aware and savor the beauty of this place. I mean, we've got a lighthouse up on the cliff. We've got eagles soaring overhead. This is one of the most beautiful nature spots on earth. But it seems like for people to come, you have to have the spectacular.

Suggestion.

Stop looking for the spectacular and start looking for the beauty, the peace, and the ability to be aware.

Your life will change.

Move well, stay healthy, be happy. May you find a purpose and live every single day with passion.
