Ella Mae Begay Update: Justice on the Line

In this mini episode, Sheyahshe provides an update on the case of Ella Mae Begay, a Navajo elder who disappeared from her home in Sweetwater, Arizona in June 2021.
After a federal judge ruled a key confession inadmissible in 2024, prosecutors moved forward with a plea agreement that would have allowed Preston Henry Tolth to plead guilty to a single robbery charge, potentially avoiding additional prison time and any future prosecution for murder or manslaughter.
Earlier this month, a U.S. District Court judge rejected that agreement following testimony from Begay’s family, who continue to seek accountability and the return of their loved one.
