Bloom Where You're Planted
The Bloom Where You're Planted Podcast sponsored by Never Too Late Cafe is part of the Never Too Late Cafe online community and marketing platform developed to encourage creative endeavors that may have been put on the back burner for sometimes decades. Developing one’s art or becoming an entrepreneur after so many years during a stage of life often referred to as “the next chapter” or the “second act” can be a scary path to go alone. At Never Too Late Cafe we hope to provide the tools and a supportive environment to share the challenges and the joys of your journey. If you are someone that has ever said, “Someday I’ll finish that collection of short stories that’s gathering dust up on the shelf,” or “Someday I’ll start that business I’ve always dreamed about,” join us to share your story.
Bloom Where You're Planted
Episode 24 - Dr. John Lorentz Pt. 1
This week on the Bloom Where You’re Planted podcast we sit down with Dr. John Lorentz of Shawnee State University.
We talk a little about the sudden transition from a math major at Miami University to falling in love with the culture and language of the Middle East during a study abroad trip his junior year, how that lead to being part of the newly formed Peace Corps, teaching and living in the Pacific Northwest, and how an opportunity to return home found him having an unparalleled impact on the international reach of Shawnee State University.
This is a two part episode, so be on the look out for part two next week where we take a deep dive into the documentary film works of Dr. Lorentz and his son Nathan - you won’t want to miss either of these episodes!
Dr. John H. Lorentz is Professor of History Emeritus and Associate Provost for International Education at Shawnee State University. He and son, Nathan, collaborate through Lorentz Films on documentary film. Dr. Lorentz is the principle scholar for River Voices and Beyond These Walls and is the Producer for the films.
