Ryan Tiren

An early believer in the magic of the movie theater, Ryan remembers crossing the threshold of the marquee and giving himself to the dramatic power of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (1990). Years later he would find himself mesmerized by Casablanca (1942) in his room. His fascination with film exists in the tension and balance between these experiences.

Ryan loves movies that engage the heart AND the head. He’s a sucker for continuity, wishes posters were still works of art, and digs directors who write their own stories. He is Unappreciated Cinematographer of His Friends, Lord of Abandoned Blogs, and Hunter of Elusive Discs.

Aside from his frequent 4 hour movie conversations with Jason, Ryan gets a kick out of studying film and its impact on culture. He still longs for the glory of Friday night Blockbuster expeditions, but showing classics to his growing kids is even better. He shares the screen with them and his lovely wife in North Carolina.
