Henderson County Housing Snapshot And A Duke–UNC Showdown
Use Left/Right to seek, Home/End to jump to start or end. Hold shift to jump forward or backward.
Forget the headlines shouting doom—our local numbers tell a steadier, smarter story. We unpack exactly what is happening in Western North Carolina housing right now: tight inventory, steady demand, and prices that keep holding. With 1,604 single-family homes sold over the last year and only about 431 on the market, the fundamentals favor prepared sellers and decisive buyers. We explain how modest national price growth points to a healthier pace, why stabilization beats volatility, and what steps help you win whether you are listing or looking.
Along the way, we trade Duke–UNC rivalry memories and use them to draw practical lessons that apply at the closing table. From the roar of Cameron to the scale of the Dean Dome, we talk culture, composure, and the small edges that change outcomes. Leadership matters in sports and in real estate: preparation, respect for the process, and cool heads under pressure. Sellers learn how to maximize leverage with clean presentation and smart pricing. Buyers get a playbook for competing well—strong pre-approvals, flexible terms, and offers that solve the seller’s problem.
We also spotlight our community ties—weekly radio, local updates, and our Hometown Hero series—because real estate is ultimately about people, timing, and trust. If you are thinking about a spring move, this conversation will give you clarity, confidence, and a plan you can use today. Good morning and welcome to the George Real Estate Group live radio broadcast here on WHKP every Thursday morning bringing you positive news about your local real estate market and community. We're so grateful to be here with you. Can you believe we're already in March? Time is flying. I got Tippi here with me. We always have George Madness. March Madness is around the corner, but Tippi, hold on. Before we get going, um, you know, this is the George Real Estate Group uh live radio broadcast here on WHKP every Thursday morning. Bring you positive news about your local real estate marketing community. Tippy and I are gonna have a conversation here in just a minute about the the big game on Saturday night, but this is not this we'll take a uh a break from real estate, but we'll talk about uh I want to talk about basketball because we're in the basketball uh state for sure. But you know, just a real quick snapshot and and oh before we get going, the George Real Estate Group, it's a privilege and honor to serve the community through real estate. We've had the privilege of helping over 1,600 families throughout the years with their real estate needs. Uh, this is my 21st year as a North Carolina real estate broker, and we serve all of West North Carolina and the upstate South Carolina. You can find us online at realestatebygreg.com. We're here every Thursday morning right after the 10 o'clock uh news hour, sharing with you about the local market and community. Find us online, call us directly, 828-393-0134. 828-3930134. We are so excited. I mean, this is by the way, we've had an incredible winter already with helping so many clients putting their homes on the market, helping our our clients navigate through buying and selling, and and and and we're just I mean, here we go. Springtime is traditionally busy and and it's gonna get busier and the market, just a quick snapshot. You know, right now in Henderson County, there's only 16 excuse me, in there's only there's 431 total single family homes in the market. We've had 1,604 homes close in the last 12 months. It's uh some hundred and thirty-three on a month, uh thir 133 a month selling uh in on average over the last 12 months in Henderson County. You know, we've actually had a 10% increase uh over the the 2025 versus 2024 and the market here, low inventory levels, prices are holding. Uh, and in fact, our average uh single family home price in Henderson in Henderson County over the last 12 months is at 540. Uh, there's certainly a lot of news out there about the you know every other concerns. You heard it on the news segment about the consumer confidence. You see the headlines, home prices are falling. That's just not happening here because and and by the way, if it changes, of course we'll report it, but the the truth is our inventory levels are so low, and so demand is actually increased, and so our prices are holding. I mean, and and I know there's some markets in the country that are experiencing prices coming down, uh, and we know real estate's local, so Henderson County, Bunkham County, uh, our inventory levels are low. Uh for prices to go down, you'd have to have inventory levels outpace the buyer demand, and that's currently where we're at right now. You know, and so I encourage you to hear locally the sky is not falling. You know, if anything, there's this period of stabilization happening right now over several years of rapid price growth, and we'll talk about that, you know, where you know, this is where um you know, again, be careful about the national headlines. Um, but but this is interesting. Nationally, home prices continue to rise actually in the fourth quarter of 2025. This is according to the National Association of Realtors, and then national median price actually rose 1.2% year over year. The national median uh home prices at 414 uh 900. So even though the the 1.2% increase sounds modest compared to the double digits uh we saw a few years ago, but here's the thing it's much closer to what a healthier housing market looks like. You know, housing markets are not supposed to have the 10, 15, 20% growth year over year. And that's when that happens, that's when the affordability issues, the instability, all those challenges, and and it can instead, you know, slow, steady appreciation is actually exactly what economists expect in a bounced market. We'll talk more about that, but just a that's a quick snapshot. Um, and we are going to talk more about the real estate market, and and uh again, you can call us directly 828-3930134. Find us online at realistatebygreg.com. We also podcast all of our radio shows. You can find us on your favorite podcast platform, George Real Estate Group Radio Broadcast. And then one more thing, every Friday morning at 845. It's a privilege and honor to sponsor the Hometown Hero series. Tomorrow morning, Kevin Waldrup, and he just retired after a 30-year career with Henderson County, and he served most recently as Henderson County Fire Marshal for many years, and we'll talk with Kevin this Friday, tomorrow morning, 845, as our hometown hero. It's uh again another just privilege and honor to sponsor the hometown hero series. So my friend Tippy Cresswell is in the studio, and uh, you know, you're holding down holding down the fort here at the radio station and trying my best. And Tippi me and April. Oh yeah, you and April holding down April holding down holding down the fort. And guess what's going on? This uh guess what's going on this Saturday? Uh we it by the way, I've told this story before. When my family moved here in the 80s, my dad was very aware that North Carolina was a basketball state, and we had to have the conversation. My dad was very aware that in the 80s we had to talk about, you know, what team were we gonna what team were we gonna pull for? And and as a my son, my brother and I decided when in the 80s that we were gonna pull for Duke. And I just I'm gonna come out and say it. I I'm a I grew up as a Duke fan, and uh, and I'm also I'm also again North Carolina being being a uh North Carolina basketball state with the rivalries like like like Duke and like Duke and Carolina, and then you have uh NC State. These are remarkable basketball programs, but Tippi and I this time of year always love to have a little bit of a conversation. Um and I've had the privilege, by the way, of shaking Coach K's hand, and I've had the privilege of shaking Roy Williams' hand.
Rivalry Memories And Respect
SPEAKER_00Well, I had the four I had the fortune to shake your hand.
SPEAKER_03So if I shake your hand, I'll shook and so this Saturday, again, we're having a little bit of fun here, is one of the biggest rivalries in college basketball, and one of the greatest rivalries, you could argue, and one of the most intense rivalries, um, but Duke and Carolina play this Saturday, and it and it's a big game.
SPEAKER_00Well, you know, we always look forward to this. Of course, but I tell you, I have to give credit what credit's due because I used to play the game of basketball years ago. And when you're good, you just good. And I won't, I'm not, you know, I'm I'm with Carolina all the way. But Duke has impressed me because I called my aunt who lives in Michigan, and she's a big Michigan fan.
unknownUh-huh.
SPEAKER_00And I said she said, Tib, I'm gonna be looking at that game intensely. And it wasn't a really pretty game, uh-huh, but it was it was a very physical game. And I really thought Michigan was gonna beat Duke. But see, then again, Coachier, man, he has some boys, man. They're ready to play all the time. And you gotta get your teams ready.
SPEAKER_03It's anybody's day.
SPEAKER_00It is, it is.
April Joins: Tar Heel Perspectives
SPEAKER_03And with this storied rivalry, now we also have April here with us this morning. Good morning, April. Hi, good morning, Noah. April, uh, for our listeners though, and I know you've been introduced to the community many times. But April, when did you join WHKP?
SPEAKER_04Yeah, so just over a month ago, and I got to say hi on Randy's show and Tyler's show. So great to be here with you.
SPEAKER_03Absolutely. But every year, Tiffany and I get to have the conversation, but you're you if again wonderful. Well, it's amazing to have you here, but also this I understand you're a Carolina fan.
SPEAKER_04Huge UNC fan, correct. Yeah. So um, my husband and I have watched UNC basketball growing up many years, um, and then he got me into Carolina football, which is for another day. Uh we don't have as many star highlights on that, but we do in Carolina basketball.
SPEAKER_00But see, April had uh the privilege to go to the Virginia Tech and Carolina game. Yes. Uh was it last week?
SPEAKER_04It was this past Saturday. Yeah. So that's amazing attack.
SPEAKER_00And what a great game. What a great game it was.
Plays, Players, And Game-Changers
SPEAKER_04It was wonderful. It was. Um, we had so much fun. We were um watching uh, I mean, it was sad to see Caleb Wilson on the sidelines. Of course, but um, you know, getting to watch the coaches and obviously the players and um the dunk that Seth Trimble brought in there at the end just for the fun of it. You know, he's just a great show off, and I'm I'm so glad he was there for all four years. Yeah, Seth Trimble's awesome. So yeah.
SPEAKER_00Well, I know we're talking a lot about Carolina, but you want to hear, you know, we we was, you know, you gotta have a little bit of luck in the game of basketball, in the game of football, in all sports.
SPEAKER_03And we well Are you talking about the last meeting?
SPEAKER_00The last shot of the game made at the f at their first meeting this season.
SPEAKER_03Yeah.
SPEAKER_04Oh yes, yes, yes, yes. Um, well, that was no, um that's a three-pointer. I was referring to on Saturday, he did have a dunk that was. Oh, yeah, yeah, I know I know I know you are but that that that three he hit was incredible. Of course.
SPEAKER_03Heart wrenching.
SPEAKER_04He was like, night night.
The Rivalry’s History And Culture
SPEAKER_03Depending on what side uh depending on what side of the the the game you're on. But I mean, here just give here's some fun stats. Night this rivalry goes back to 1920, and you know, it's it's remarkable the number of uh you know just championships between the two programs. Uh you think of the players that have come throughout the years, Michael Jordan, James Worthy, Vince Carter, you know, Christian Leitner, Grant Hill, Zion Williamson. I mean, incredible. And and you know, these programs both are elite programs, consistent national rankings, you know, the passionate fan bases, and and it's just a cultural event. This is not just a game. Yeah. This is a you know, it's a the family debate, the workplace rivalry, you know, it's a statewide event. I mean, and again, it's and this is in uh you hear people say in North Carolina, you're either born Carolina blue or Duke Blue.
SPEAKER_00That's true, that's true. I mean, you call in the right. And what what's um so amazing that backyards are just from eight miles. Yeah, so you know, you're talking about, but what I picked up, and I didn't realize this, is that when the season is over, these guys are kind of friendly too. Well, they have the summer leagues and I'm gonna be able to do that. Some of the Duke in Carolina, and I I like that. I even you know, because I've always been told, like I told you, Nora, our coach in high school said, in order to be a good winner, you gotta be a good loser. And that test of time came when we won the state. He said that loss that we had in the season was the best loss we had of our career because we knew about how to lose.
SPEAKER_05Yeah.
SPEAKER_00That one game. But, you know, I'm on the bandwagon for Carolina, and they gotta really bring their A game because you're not just going to a regular gymnasium, you're going to Cameron. And you're talking about It's tense.
Summer Leagues And Sportsmanship
SPEAKER_03And I've only I've had the opportunity to go once and to Cameron. This is you know 25 years ago, and it was the most incredible experience of my life. Uh you're a Cameron crazy, obviously. Well, and I and a dear friend of mine, Joel, uh, he called me up. This is why this is when I was in college, and he said, Noah, you better get in the car. I'm like, what's going on? He's like, if you're not in the car in five minutes, you're gonna miss the Duke Florida State game. And I'm like, what are you talking about? He's like, I got us tickets, let's go.
SPEAKER_00Nobody.
SPEAKER_03Next thing I know, we're three rows behind the Duke bench and we're watching the game.
SPEAKER_00You told me about that.
SPEAKER_03And my dear friend Joel, uh, who I found out later. I mean, I him and I were both Duke fans, but he was personal friends with Coach K, and he said, and and we just had an incredible experience. This is when Boozer Sr. Right DunlaViee Williams, this is like the 2001 team.
SPEAKER_00And uh is that when you seen Grant Hill? Uh I didn't see Grant Hill then, but I I remember you you said one time he was at well that might have been the ACC tournament.
Cameron Versus Dean Dome Atmosphere
SPEAKER_03Oh, the ACC tournament then, anyways. But it was the Cameron indoor stadium, is uh again once one of those once-in-a-lifetime experiences. And and so after the game, uh my friend Joel's like, follow me. We start walking past all the double doors, and and the security guards are like, What's up, Joel? What's up, Joel? Next thing we know, we're in the Duke locker room, ESPN's interviewing uh Boozer and Williams. They walk by Boozer gives me a high five. Yeah, this is like again, this is 20 this is a long time ago. And then I get to meet Coach K and his wife in their locker room, in the in his office, and that was just one of those once-in-a-lifetime experiences. Um, and and again, I I just grew up as a as a Duke fan, so it was just one of those. I'm so grateful for my friend Joel uh who let me have that experience with him. So that's cool. Um and uh and and prayers to Joel. He's uh you know having some health challenges and and uh you know fighting a fight right now with his with his health, and so uh you know praying for my friend Joel. But he's a remarkable individual and has overcome a lot. And actually, uh when he was younger, and he was like 10 or 11 years old, uh, my friend Joel, uh who was when he was two years old, he was actually burned, uh, had a in a car accident. And but he was on Oprah and he was wearing as like I think it was like 12 years old, he was wearing a Duke sweatshirt. And that's how uh he ended up getting introduced to Coach K when he was a kid. That's cool. And they remained friends uh since since my friend was on Oprah sharing his story, but he he grew up as a Duke fan too, uh here in Western North Carolina.
SPEAKER_00Great, great story.
SPEAKER_03Pretty remarkable. But this weekend, uh by the way, this weekend is gonna be a lot of fun. Yes. Uh Duke and Carolina. Yeah. Um, and and so it's remarkable. Uh by the way, the difference in Cameron and the Dean Smith Center, uh, Cameron only seats nine 9,300, and it's one of the loudest venues in sports. The Dean Smith Center has 21,000 seats.
SPEAKER_05Yeah, what?
Inside Cameron: A Once-In-A-Lifetime Story
SPEAKER_00That's amazing. It's so compact. If if Carolina lets the sixth man come in, the sixth man is the crowd.
unknownYep.
SPEAKER_05It is. Yep.
SPEAKER_00And if they let the sixth man come in and distract him, because it's gonna be this is gonna be off the chain because Duke is really upset because we beat him. But if we play as good as we played at Chapel Hill, I say we got a fighting chance. Yes. It's gonna be it's gonna be amazing to see how and it's gonna be a game for the and I hope if Caleb does play, if he does play, I hope, you know, because a lot of times you're putting yourself on the line when you've been out for how many games? Seven?
SPEAKER_03Oh yeah, he's been on so he's been out that long.
SPEAKER_00So don't want to hurt that hand because he's already rejected in the top five. No, he was like top two. Recruiter, but it's but you it's amazing when you get an injured, the numbers change. Oh, yeah. Now he's in the top ten.
SPEAKER_03Yeah. Okay.
Leadership Lessons From Lou Holtz
SPEAKER_00So it don't matter. I mean, but I just like to see him play because as well as Boozer, then Boozer brothers, especially um Cam Boozer. Cam, the the center, strong guy. He's not really a fresher. You know, when you think about it, they always said once you in the season, you become uh sophomore. Sure. And some develop as a junior. But I mean, one thing about the ACC, you got great talent.
SPEAKER_03For sure.
SPEAKER_00You got a really great talent. I mean, so that's one thing. That's why I'm a basketball jack, yeah.
SPEAKER_03Well, there's I mean, by the way, there's so many life lessons I think with sports that can teach us, but also the leadership that we've seen between, you know, uh Dean Smith, yes, uh Roy Williams, Coach K. And talking about, let me, and again, this I'm so grateful. I love the just having conversations about life. Obviously, this is the real estate radio show, but I guess but you know what's funny about that is real estate is just uh it is about life. Life happens, therefore real estate happens. But there's so many, I think I the thing I love about sports and coaching is the the leadership lessons, but talk about one of the most remarkable coaches, and I'll bring this back to North Carolina, you know, Lou Holtz, who just just passed it. He did you know he actually coached at one point at North Carolina State University? And so I remember that. So he was connected to North North Carolina, and what a remarkable reputation of just uh this winning culture and and then the life lessons that um I mean he was known for so much, you know. He said, you know, do right, do your best, treat others as you want to be treated, you know, and just his incredible uh motivational speeches, um, you know, and he his philosophy said ability is what you're capable of doing, motivation determines what you do, attitude determines how well you do it. But his legacy that Lou Holtz left, you know, the national championship coach, building program builder at multiple universities.
SPEAKER_00Did he win at Notre Dame?
Losing Well And Winning The Day
SPEAKER_03Oh, well the his his uh at Notre Dame uh absolutely from 1986 to 1996, he he 1988 national championship, seven major bowl appearances, five major major uh consecutive major bowl wins. Right. You know, it's but the 1998 1988 team remains legendary in college football history, but you know, he had victories over Michigan, Miami, Southern California. Just but again, his just his his um his leadership lessons, his life lessons. I mean, I heard one of the things that he taught his players to do was how to tie your shoe right from the I mean that was the foundation that you do in anything, right? How you do one thing is how you do everything else, and and it it went down to as simple as again tying your shoes and again taking responsibility, the self-discipline. Uh, he said without self-discipline, success is impossible. Again, just a remarkable uh human and the impact that he had on so many uh college uh athletes.
SPEAKER_00Well, you know, when you talk about basketball, football, you talk about players don't only play the game, they are taught about life. And that's what kind of makes the difference in a lot of these successful guys that has done well.
SPEAKER_03Well, again, basketball just happens to be the platform for which they're in they're working together and the influence that these coaches have on these kids these players' lives. It's and we've had on our hometown hero series, you know, our high school coaches here and and student athletes. It's amazing to hear this the you know, you know, he he I don't know if he's the original one that said this, but life is 10% what happens to you and 90% how you respond to it. Because we I mean we all have this illusion of control. You know, we think we can control things, but the only thing we really get to decide or control is how we respond to things in our attitude, in our attitude. And talk about you brought about losing brought up the conversation about losing how you respond to a loss.
Dress The Part, Play The Part
SPEAKER_00Yeah. And I know I never forget this till the day I die. When we won the state championship, we was projected to lose that game. The odds were against us. But when we beat Pinecrest, they had a team that was 6'8, 6'7, 6'5, 6'4, and 5'11. 5'11 was all equal to the ball players except our center, who was 6'4. We were all 5'11. So you know what the headline said. David slews Goliath. That's that's a pretty good headline. But I always think about the cat when we we was always taught to show good sportsmanship. Lose, win, or draw. And as we were going down the the aisle to shake hands, most of the ball players shook hands. But the leading scorer that year down there, Rick Ghost, he would not shake my He wouldn't shake our hand. They really thought they were supposed to win the game. And a lot of times you if you don't know the teams, you know, and then it was so ironic. We went back the following year to defend our title. They had moved up to 4A. We were still 3A. And they won 4A. It's funny. It's funny. But we lost in the finals. We wanted to get that back to back so back. Which again is remarkable. Yeah, because even the odds again was against us. They said they will not repeat. They won't make it back. So we worked hard that summer.
SPEAKER_03You wanted to prove everybody wrong.
SPEAKER_00Man, man, man. And we went all the way back.
SPEAKER_03That's amazing.
Coaching Style And Sideline Suits
SPEAKER_00And we got beat by four points. But what a great experience. What a great experience. It sure was.
SPEAKER_03Incredible. It was. It really was. Again, all this is again life, these conversations we have and the experiences we have and how we show up and how we I another I gotta give you another Lou Holtz uh quote. He said, Don't worry about winning the championship, just win the day. Amen. You show up on time, you prepare well, you treat people right, you do your job with excellence, and it's that compounding effect. And again, to even make it to a championship game, the energy and the effort, the training, the unseen hours of on the practice uh court, I mean, like all those things matter.
Conference Loyalty And Respect For Talent
SPEAKER_00But just to say this when we walked in the gymnasium wherever we went, especially away games, we had on blue blazers, white t-shirt. You cleaned up. And then man, we had on our great trousers. We walked in Durham, Durham's high school gymnasium, and you should have seen the people turning heads. Coach said, Boy, they notice us, don't they? And I said, Well, we gotta notice ourselves on the court. But it was amazing because we got, and you know where we got that from? Uh every girl crazy about a shop dress, memory. But no, but you know where we originally got that from? Hendersonville High School got that from the University of North Carolina. Dressing up. Right. Guys was always had their blazers on.
SPEAKER_03It's it's the mentally showing up for the game. It's you you're showing up when they they see the the pre-game preparations in in being dressed before the game, you know, it was being the kind of person who's ready to compete with Lou Holt says with discipline and honor. I mean, like, again, how you show up that's right, makes a difference. It matters. You guys came with the right attitude. Yeah.
SPEAKER_00But University of North Carolina is where you guys Yeah, we we picked uh that it was I I heard that saying that that was an uh a pickup from the University of North Carolina and the way they Well they carried themselves. Yeah, that's right. I mean, when you go out of town, I I noticed the difference now. The guys Duke, North Carolina, any team in the country, Kentucky, when they playing, they in their sweatsuits. A lot of them are different sweatsuits compared to what we wore when we came off the bus. We was all dressed up. We was all in our blazers and uh I had a double breast, man. I had a double breast.
SPEAKER_03It does in it is an interesting observation though. I'll tell you this though. I'm and and maybe this is you know us observing our times. I will give credit. Hubert Davis looked sharp in that suit. Yes. Yes, and then Coach Shire though, those guys they're wearing the uh the sport uh like pullover like three-quarter pullover. Yeah, the isn't it interesting?
SPEAKER_00Yeah, it's interesting. But you notice, but you notice UNC's uh what you call it.
SPEAKER_04Look at the lineage, right? Like like I'm just saying, you know, everyone's always had a suit on. You think back to the Dagum Hor Tar Hills who cut the suit jacket?
Iconic Shots And MJ In Hendersonville
SPEAKER_00That's true, that's true. Yeah, but even even uh there's uh uh the coaches.
SPEAKER_04Oh, you're talking about like Son Banks and stuff like that?
SPEAKER_00They are dressed up like the Duke's, uh, you know, other teams.
SPEAKER_03No, I know it's it there's been a shift, I think, in the in maybe in in the culture, but again, it's it's amazing. But this Saturday, I think it's at 6 30. Uh Carolina and Duke are playing. I I love this time of year.
SPEAKER_00But you know one thing, you're not the average Duke guy. Well, I Because a lot of Duke guys, man, said down with Carolina.
SPEAKER_03I have the at least you well, I have a lot of respect for ACC, actually. Like I have the okay, maybe I'm not the maybe I'm not a true fan, but I have the ability. I have no no I have the ability to respect the game. Like if Carolina's playing somebody else, I'll I'll actually pull for Carolina.
SPEAKER_04Wow, you're wild.
SPEAKER_03I don't know. Because I'm an AC, I'm in North Carolina, I mean, listen, North Carolina, ACC, so again, my hierarchy of, you know, like if anybody's playing Duke, I'm playing, I'm pulling for Duke. But if if Carolina's playing somebody else, I'll pull for Carolina. If if NC State's playing somebody else, I'll pull again. I'm an ACC fan. Uh, and so that, but my friends that are Carolina, there's just something within them that they could never pull for Duke, no matter who they're playing.
SPEAKER_04I'm cringing. I'm like, I can't do that. I can't do that.
SPEAKER_03You there you go.
SPEAKER_04The chance. I mean, you guys know the chance. I'm not gonna say it out here on the radio.
Autographs, Authenticity, And Value
SPEAKER_00Yeah, well, they well, they it they are. I mean, they I mean, you you gotta give you gotta give your accolades in the city. We gotta give credit to who I mean this is fair. And and and you know what? I used to be just like that. I hate it to I hate it to but see, I I I I learned to love the game so much. You give a broader perspective now. When I see a ball player that can hoop, yes, he's good. Yes. I mean, that's just like um give credit where credit's due. Exactly. And and I didn't used to be like that now. But I changed a little bit over the years.
SPEAKER_03You've gotten over that Christian Leitner shot. Well, my friends that are Kentucky fans, that's oh, they'll never forget that. I I bring that up every once in a while, though.
SPEAKER_00Well, you know, when we think when we think about great shots, Michael Jordan in 1982, the Georgetown game.
SPEAKER_02Yeah.
SPEAKER_00And that was his mark.
SPEAKER_02Yeah.
SPEAKER_00And he became, I mean, this guy here, I got a f I was fortunate to meet him right here at WHKP.
SPEAKER_03Michael Jordan, and you tell I love your story. Because he would come here for the summer campaign.
ACC Tournament Talk And Sportsmanship
SPEAKER_00And plus he came right before he went to the Olympics. They was having at the YMCA.
SPEAKER_04Okay.
SPEAKER_00And the next thing you know, I think that was the day the day before we had him down here and we interviewed him, Buzz Peterson, him, Harold Albany, myself, and R. Cooley. And we were sitting around at this table. So when the interview was over, I had a desk and I had some posters already laid out. And I had four. And Buzz didn't think I wanted his autograph, but I did. But I had told Michael, I, you know, I got some posters I want you to sign. I just didn't include Buzz because I had his on my desk. I just made the point to Mike. And all of a sudden I put my hand on the on the on the desk, and Michael was joking with me, and he put his hands on me. His hands stretched out like this. You could not see my hand. I said, give me my hand. But it was so amazing, man. What what a what I appreciate that because a great guy, you know, off the court as well as on the court. He was a great speech.
SPEAKER_03And he just won uh NASA.
SPEAKER_04Oh, I guess. It's incredible.
Closing Remarks And How To Reach Us
SPEAKER_03I mean, but North Carolina, you know, born and raised, and it's amazing. Did you know? Uh speaking of Michael Jordan's signatures, I just recently came across this. He's not allowed to sign in like if he might seem rude if you went up to him and asked for a signature, as I understand now. He's contractually obligated, apparently had a contract with upper deck. Uh this is a contract that I just heard about recently. I'm going down a rabbit hole, but Michael Jordan hit upper deck controls most of Michael Jordan's autographs. And so anything he signed must go through their authenticated memorabilia program. Almost like a notarization. Yes. And it protects the value and authenticity of his signature. Isn't that fascinating? That is so uppity. Isn't that wild? I'm really sad now. I won't ask you if you still have his signature.
SPEAKER_04I mean, money is money, right? I gotta protect my signature.
SPEAKER_03It's it's fascinating, but again, what a fun conversation. And I and I appreciate you both just I thought we'd just have a game.
SPEAKER_04Well, go heals, and thank you for having me.
SPEAKER_03I mean it'll be a fun, fun conversation.
SPEAKER_00It's a pretty good game. How long has this battle? Since the 19th century. Okay, so who leads in the battle?
SPEAKER_03I think the the the um is pretty tough. You mean as to the the rivalry loss the total rivalry and it's regular season. Wow, oh, regular season.
SPEAKER_04I was just saying, because we're at the end of regular season.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, but the but the uh the numbers that I had here uh you know between the um between the two um you know rivalries, right? Like the um if you combine the programs, by the way, eleven national championships, 40 plus Final Four appearances, 140 uh NBA drafts, I think they're pretty close as to the um as to the the the between the two of them. Um oh where's my numbers? Oh here's the total overtime the total uh uh all-time series is UNC win leads the series. Um in recent years, but again, it it's uh but in Carolina has has the all-time uh wins right now. I don't I don't have that in specific.
SPEAKER_00The ACC tournament is gonna be held where in Is it Charlotte?
SPEAKER_03No, the uh the ACC? I want to say it's I d I wish I had that number and that information in front of me, but but anyway, you know, I'm looking forward to it because we don't know who we we are paired against.
SPEAKER_00But North Carolina State was so ugly. Oh that they beat Carolina down in Raleigh this year, yes.
SPEAKER_03And then how bad did how bad did Duke beat NC State though?
SPEAKER_00Oh, Duke, oh, ooh, they beat him like it was like junior high against senior high, man. But the thing was is that like I'd go back to sportsmanship, yeah, and they didn't show good sportsmanship. Yep. And that's the reason why I want Caleb Wilson. Hoping it'd be a good great game, but I I'm looking forward.
SPEAKER_03I hope they can meet up in North Carolina State with Caleb.
unknownYeah.
SPEAKER_00Because they show some oh, they got up in c some of the Carol Carolina guys' face, man.
SPEAKER_02Yeah.
SPEAKER_00And made some bad gestures. So I wanna I just so I just think a little bit more than another chance.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, yeah. You guys are so gracious to have the fun conversation and to my regular listeners that are excuse, excuse me.
SPEAKER_04So much real estate and sports.
SPEAKER_03Well, again, there's a lot of life lessons, but I mean, uh between in sports and life and business, and and again, I think it's time just sometimes it's fun to have a fun conversation. I didn't I didn't know what I was gonna I I had some preparation this morning, but I'm glad we could have the conversation about the the game this this coming Saturday.
SPEAKER_00And and a footnote, Carolina went 18 and oh for the regular season at home.
SPEAKER_04Boom.
SPEAKER_00Duke has a lost the game. All right.
