Episode 3 - Richard Hill
For the third episode of The Inspire Me Podcast, Amelie interviews rugby legend, Richard Hill. Richard played for England for 11 years and he also went on three British Lions tours from 1997-2005. Under Sir Clive Woodward he was the only player never to get dropped as he was a huge part of securing England's victory over Australia in the 2003 World Cup Final. He was also part of the successful Lions tour to South Africa in 1997 and in 2001 the Lions won the first test against Australia but then in the second test Richard was controversially taken out on the pitch which many people felt was the deciding factor to the Lions defeat against Australia. Currently Richard is the England Rugby Manager but in our conversation we will be focusing on his playing career as he was described by All Blacks legend Zinzan Brooke as the best player ever at a talk at my school! In our chat we discussed what it was like for Richard to play in a World Cup Final, what motivated him to train in bad weather conditions and also what it was like to be picked for England for the first time and plenty more!
