I feel like this one will have something to say, but not a whole lot.

spk_0:   0:07
What do you mean?

spk_1:   0:09
Like the terror type terror. Tight in town is the only thing.

spk_0:   0:15
A real tongue twister. David, A real tongue twister with David's trying to say is the terror of tiny town?

spk_1:   0:24
Yes. Correct. Open a cold box of wine or  pour Something cold on ice because it's the binge Watchers podcast. Yeah, uh, re already doing it or we just, uh

spk_0:   1:04
yeah, we're always doing it. Somebody light a cigarette somewhere Put on some some French jazz, not American jazz list. Let's put on some friends Chairs in the background. Listen to this podcast in your tub. Yeah.

spk_1:   1:17
Oh, yeah. Why not? You know, some candles.

spk_0:   1:22
I mean, for all we know, stocking stuffer means something completely different to somebody else, you know? Yeah,

spk_1:   1:29
Could be s So this is another one in the set of the colt movies. I got one of the number 2 20 cause we already watched. Boom! O r o mo moo moo moo duck the shark. God. Uh, so now we're watching. We watched the terror of tiny town, which is an all I don't think is midget PC anymore. We see little.

spk_0:   1:50
No, that's what's funny about the credits, that role in this movie it tells you. And now starring the cast of midgets. It says Joel Bueller's Midget Midgets.

spk_1:   2:01
I'll start making cows.

spk_0:   2:03
So basically, no, it's a bunch of little people. And but when this movie came out, they just called each other midgets and and other people referred to them is midgets, which is what I don't know, um, not acceptable.

spk_1:   2:18
And that's what I mean, you know, we're only referring were only state midget because like it's up front and center on the title just to explain that. But

spk_0:   2:24
you see that what? You see that word about six times within the span of like a minute who looked like it's it's all over the credits,

spk_1:   2:32
uh, even more if you see the extended version by like two minutes with an introduction, depending on which version you watch on YouTube or Amazon, there's like different ones floating around with an extra added two minutes at the beginning of introducing.

spk_0:   2:46
Well, look at that. There's still specialty casting folks like Basically, there's a ton of casting agencies that air for specific things That's kind of our lair. Bread and butter of the racket, if you will, like, even, like, what's the like? Pit bulls and parolees? Or pit bulls and little people or something? Like there was a guy now, that's what it Wasit was like his agency. And he also took care of dogs. But they were actors, but that's what they get. They go out on like the chutes, you know, to do what whatever they could do or whatever. But it's It's intentionally dwarf casting or what have you? Um, you just lost three little people that listen to the show you just lost.

spk_1:   3:27
I'm sorry, guys. Come back. Yeah, little people. Little people know I don't currently call them that. Uh, yeah. This is like a very this is another one that's, like, only an hour long. Um, but I tried. I'm I tried watching this twice. I mean, I did watch it twice, like I for being an hour long. It is boring. I don't know. I don't know what your reaction to watching it was, but I had to watch it twice because I kept

spk_0:   3:55
I Really Yeah, I really paid intense attention for, like the 1st 15 20 minutes and then, like I was speeding it up just just for the sake of having said I watched the movie in orderto podcast about it like just

spk_1:   4:10
it is very

spk_0:   4:11
becoming. If I could have two extra three x the playback, I would have done that. But I was definitely just skipping around, although I couldn't find the part where I was reading the cast list and instead of one of the little people was gonna be playing the part of the vampire. And I was like, What does a fucking vampire coming in this fucking movie like I'm somebody

spk_1:   4:29
that might have caught my attention?

spk_0:   4:31
It's still not clear to me because there was all there was a singer in a bar. There was the main character who looks like a Roy Rogers type, you know, who was, like, clearly the good guy because we're in a white shirt and there's like,

spk_1:   4:44
This is very much a white hat. Black hat.

spk_0:   4:46
Yeah, exactly. Quite survivors is black spire. Whatever. Um and then, like, yeah, bad Bert or whatever. Had, like, a black hat. And then, you know, the two families pitted against each other is kind of like the old Western motif of what is the McCall's right? Is that one of them? They

spk_1:   5:05
again. I watched this movie twice, and I can't tell you much about

spk_0:   5:08
it. I'm talking about real life. There was, like, the two families. Oh, yeah, the Hatfields and the McCoys. There we go. So, like that, these two families, like Preston's and whatever the other one was called the same thing. It's like these this this little bandit tried to put these two families against each other so it could still cattle from both of them and have kind of, like, just chaos in the town. And the sheriff was under his arm for a little while. I'm the sheriff. One point today, we can't do this. And then the guy I shot the sheriff and and the most badass person in this movie actually is like only in the beginning when they're singing outside the blacksmith shop is like, Did you see that really ripped little dude like he looked like you, Sam, He's a blacksmith. He's got like, a fool.

spk_1:   5:52
But I mean, that was like that, his abs or anything. I

spk_0:   5:55
was kind of obviously because that's the only thing they're showing in the beginning is like they're putting horses. You know, if they're thinking shoes on a horse like his assistant, whatever is trying to use, like, a full size hammer. And I did read some press on this, I guess, like the producers and directors were trying to think of all these jokes and getting cool little people, which is, I guess, if they thought it was funny themselves, I don't know if that was the thing. Like, there was like size jokes like the little person walks under the doorway to the saloon at one point. But in the game like the hammer was huge as a clue. Why wouldn't you just cut the handle down and use a smaller handle? Do you know what I mean? But yeah, whatever. Um, Then there's, like, a niece that shows up for one of the families. And, of course, she's gonna fall in love with the main characters from the other family. So you guys that whole thing? Uh, none of them can ride horses at all. No, like they didn't

spk_1:   6:48
know. These are like Shetland ponies, too.

spk_0:   6:50
Yeah, they have. The

spk_1:   6:51
other thing is they're on small horses.

spk_0:   6:53
Yeah, so they're riding around, but none of them can ride, like is clear because the animals move in like these disarray patterns. So clearly like the ponies weren't trained for riders or the writers weren't trained to ride the ponies because, like at one point, like I saw the actor changed the way he was waving his hand because the animal moved in different directions on all animals. Moved. But it wasn't It wasn't staged like it looked like an accident, you know what I mean? Um, and there's one, like a mistake where the main character draws his gun and he's trying to shoot the bandits off when they're trying to, like, brand his stolen cattle from his dad's ranch. Gonna sideways is in his hand in his hands on the trigger, but it's still firing like it's really weird, like he didn't know how to draw the gun. So I feel like Okay, this is great cause, like, at the time, they probably wouldn't little people probably weren't getting cast in a lot of movies, and I was kind of like Feaster famine. Probably like, Here's a movie for you guys do like was Your vase comes out later. I'm like half the little people in this movie are become munchkins, in the words of us, including the main character. But they have the opportunity to do all this stuff, but you assume that they're still trained actors, but it looked like a lot of them had no acting training. Like they they their delivery slat. They don't have range. They, like don't don't have the skills of the characters are portraying like the roping shooting horse, right? The fistfight is kind of cool. Looking at really looked like they were really just punching each other out. And maybe they were, I don't know, because again, what her stunts at that time they're probably really punching each other, But it's basically like an ordinary Western story from the thirties forties. Just this extraordinary thing of, like what would be like a circus act? But on film like, Oh, come see the little people's western kind of thing like a spectacular like exploitation movie or something, right?

spk_1:   8:56
Yeah, pretty much. I mean, you know, you kind of hit hit a point when I was, which I was gonna mention was Yeah, they're pretty terrible actors. I mean, sorry. Started talk bad about little people, but they were not great actors.

spk_0:   9:08
No, I mean and they're not bad actors because of little people. Let's get that straight. They're not bad actors about actors because of their back bad actors. Yet because the these were schlocky, terrible producers and directors and from not a great film company, they were just cranking out ah, bunch of cheap movies at the time, so no one will use your consideration,

spk_1:   9:29
distributed this movie.

spk_0:   9:31
Oh, Columbia

spk_1:   9:32
said, Yeah, so, like it was put out by a reputable company like That's the funny thing is like I was kind of shocked when I saw that cause I thought this was like what they used to call poverty row studios. And now this was put up by Columbia of all people. So I was kind of surprised by that.

spk_0:   9:48
Yeah, I don't know interpersonal relationships of these filmmakers in the thirties, forties, fifties, whatever, you know, making their deals of the barstools. Um, now some of the some way because you're connected. I was reading that they like connection. Thes Western film makers had a connection to somebody at Columbia in the Columbia picked it up, but yeah, you're right. Otherwise, I would have just been, like, run of the mill, you know, and release with one of these other tiny companies or something else. No pun intended. Yeah, the terror of tiny filming. Uh, you definitely couldn't make this movie today. Oh, no, no. I think it's easy cast. And it would be cool if a little person could do whatever they want. Like any time they want. They're just people. But, um, and this And I guess the theories, like we look at the actor like, What's his name who took like the lead in Game of Thrones. And he's one of the best actors on the show. Peter, Peter, you just cast Peter Dinklage in anything because he's just a really great guy. And he works really hard on this craft or he's a trained actor. Yeah, yeah, yeah. There you go. The way they were like Well, it's Peter. Technically, it's a dwarf, but, you know, do you want to do this? You have a chance to say this and you have a chance to say that and maybe people will perceive it. Is that you know? Yeah. but not this movie, because I mean, like anything. What you could do is you could do like a making of this movie. Like you could make a drama about the people involved in making this movie one of the cast. Yeah, you know, I could see that.

spk_1:   11:28
I was thinking that that would be interesting to see. Yeah, something like that.

spk_0:   11:32
Yeah. Like real actors portraying these guys the process of this and like what they're going through. There was also a really great documentary about little people, actors informed, like their own union. And then they form like their own sports teams. Did you see that? Uh, hell is the name of that one. That's pretty cool has, like some of the actors from willow like burgle cut, Remember in Willow like the main hunter from the village was, like, super famous and the contempt of the strongest wear from Willows Village broom cut jiggly. Anyway, the actor that played ham isn't in here, and you'd recognize some of these faces because there's some of the actors from, like, patrol movie and some other stuff are this thing. Um, and like the main munchkin from the movies, like whatever his name is who was actually in with a little too is the wizard guy. He's in this sports documentary, too. Yeah, they set up a team kind of like Harlem Globetrotters did always events and stuff. I can't think of what it's called, but anyway, e Google Google will tell you, you know, I'm sure. Well, yeah, um, we're gonna read for gonna run out of minutes to talk about this thing that we're not gonna run events. I mean, we're literally gonna have, like, dead air, because I don't know how long I can talk about this movie.

spk_1:   12:54
It's It's a non movie. I mean, I know I suggested it because, you know, part of the Siri's stocking stuffer this was given to me. It's more of a pack, and it's it's a curiosity. I mean, you know, And but is it a good movie? No, it's, you know, it's It lives and dies by its gimmick and the gimmick. Where's fast? Where's pretty fast?

spk_0:   13:15
There's probably one or two film history students that maybe watches this movie a year. I wouldn't think that is too many people that come across this one or even sit down to watch it. Like you said, it's on a disk filled with 20 other movies or whatever, you know. I mean, so it's like, That's the thing. It's not even it's not just in the bargain bin. It's on a bargain DVD itself. You know anything about you getting loaded up with all these other films, you know? So, um uh, yeah. So what else is Dave watching?

spk_1:   13:45
I've actually been watching a lot of good stuff this week. Yeah, um I think I told you I watched one the other day called Greener grass, which is on man.

spk_0:   13:54
Oh, yeah, he wants me to watch this really tripped out David Lynch styles.

spk_1:   14:00
It's well, I mean, you know, proceed with caution. I don't know if I was per se suggesting it other than I just was. I I liked it. It's it's really different. But, you know, I don't know if it's your style or not. Maybe it is. Maybe it's not, but it is. Is movie that plays by its own rules and lives in his own world. And you just kind of have to accept that every adult in the movie has braces without explanation. So somebody's kid dives into a pool and comes out a dog, and they just accept that it's his son. Now they're suddenly it's

spk_0:   14:31
Yeah, it's pretty twisted. It's

spk_1:   14:33
a weird and it looks like Yeah, like David Lynch. It's one of those movies that you kind of compare it to other things. So, like, for me, it feels like David leads and Todd's lawns got together to remake John Waters. Polly.

spk_0:   14:47
Yeah, stay like Todd, Salon says. Weird filmmaker. And all this stuff is weird, and he always writes this like hyper suburban psychotic stuff and that it kind of feels like that.

spk_1:   14:59
It feels like, Looks like Leave it to Beaver. But it really is like the darkest shit you've ever seen. Yeah, um, And then I want another one the other night called In Fabric, which is really good. Ah, it's Ah, horror movie about a haunted dress and it doesn't it. Pro proposes a lot of questions but doesn't give you a whole lot of answers. So, like, for me, I think it's a coven of witches. Wow,

spk_0:   15:24
that's kind of cool, actually,

spk_1:   15:26
um, it's it's emulated to look like a seventies Jeolla movie like down to the score and the colors, and it takes place in the seventies like Britain or England, which is kind of smart because it goes for a style that took place in that time. And it doesn't uh, you know,

spk_0:   15:44
I always thought of anybody people with a haunted dress movie. That's kind

spk_1:   15:46
of interesting. Go. What's the trailer? At least, But I rented it, rented it on Amazon the other day, and it is. It's very stylistic. It's very it's Ah, haunted dress movie. I don't know what else to say. You like, you have toe, you have to watch it, or at least watch the trailer, do yourself a favor and go watch the trailer in fabric on Amazon. It's worth watching. I've

spk_0:   16:10
been watching a lot of workaholics for some reason. I'm watching Season three right now.

spk_1:   16:17
That's the show I have I made all the way through. I I do. I do catch up with it here in

spk_0:   16:21
the Lord's Force episode is great and has Tim from Tim and Eric show on there? Um, yeah, it's pretty interesting. Um, you know, it's 3 20 somethings that work at a telemarketing firm and their adventures, Um, but what's funny is like I'm watching him like I don't like either one of them separately. Like everybody usually has a favorite. I think Anders is probably my favorite. Is the most like me probably, but But I look more like an in demand, but I have the appetite of warlike of launders, I think. Anyway, just reevaluating that just watched a couple episodes of that. And then David David knows that I'm watching the man DeLorean. He sends me text like Dave is not loaning me his password to Disney. Plus, not at all in one way, shape or form. But I'm watching Disney Plus, and they was like, you know, hey, did you already see the man? DeLorean? What? You know, like,

spk_1:   17:23
everybody's talking about it. But this latest episode, which we just watched, which would be

spk_0:   17:27
Bill Burr episode that prisoner? Yeah.

spk_1:   17:29
Yes, Bill burns

spk_0:   17:30
all the walls otherwise literally known as the Bill Burr episode. All you know, that's what it should be referred to it. Um,

spk_1:   17:38
that's the one thing I really appreciate about the mammal. Lorien is that did, um, it casts a lot of comedians and small roles and gives them maybe parts. Um like a week or so ago. They had Amy Sedaris and a pretty like prominent role.

spk_0:   17:52
It's kind of weird casting situation.

spk_1:   17:56
Yeah, I dig it. I like I like them taking chances on some like I mean, they cast Verner Herzog as one of the big you know, main guys.

spk_0:   18:02
Well, the chick with the tentacles on her head. I don't remember what these aliens they're called like thrall. Lt's or something. Or is it something with and whatever. But I think she's an actress from one of the Harry Potter movies, and she's also in Game of Thrones briefly, Um, but she's also supposed to be looked at me and alluring and squeeze from back in the day. And then you got Clarence Brown. I think was playing the guy that looks like a demon. The alien that was like a big red. And he's supposed to be the muscle there. Little criminal crew.

spk_1:   18:29
Yeah, I didn't catch that until I saw the credits of like, Clancy Brown And then I thought back like, Oh, it was that guy.

spk_0:   18:35
Yeah, exactly. And, uh, I mean, listen, like the thing that was really good starting to bother me. It's like the Yoda baby thing. It's so we don't know how smart it is, what it knows and what it doesn't know. And when it's interacting with the droid and invading the droid in the ship, it makes you think that it's it's quite intelligent already, even for a child. But then other times it just acts like a baby. So I'm like. But here's the thing the man DeLorean is like constantly in violent situations and like and like his only goal is to keep this. You're a baby, our baby Yoda safe. But he keeps him flying into increasingly dangerous situations. You know what I mean? And then like and then leaves the baby in the ship like at the most random times. And I'm like, How long is it like he could just think you could just leave the little baby, Although you don't mean, I guess it's like, Oh, yeah, any other baby. But what have the actual thinking about is, like the suspension of disbelief like these things they don't want to answer because it might be boring springtime, and we just eat up a lot of screen time to the like Okay, yeah, he's gonna have a baby sitter every time he goes to a space station. It's gonna take the kid with him and then the conceit, like I'm saying, like, everything is violent and dangerous, and so there's no way okay in reality for fooling around space. And you got your dragging this kid around through all these action set pieces? Yeah, the kid's gonna get probably killed. You mean like this doesn't go this long? Also, the man DeLorean probably would get a lot more hurt. But I think every time he leaves the ship, I think assumes he's gonna die. Every time you leave the ship, I think he's gonna think he makes the, you know, peace with whatever God, the God of metal or the God of Assassins or whatever, You know, I mean, like, the way as they call it, like I think he makes piece of themselves every time it leaves the ship. You know, like, Okay, this is it. And, um, the tracking device that uses is kind of cool. Um, again, it's like retro technology, like the whole thing is retro. So it looks like old star Wars were just kind of really funny, like What is that? Five

spk_1:   20:47
years. Yeah, well, takes place five years after return of the Jedi. I

spk_0:   20:52
am somewhere in time. Yeah, because basically, maybe what?

spk_1:   20:59
I said, Oh, maybe one day we'll see he walks in it or something. That

spk_0:   21:03
tam and e walk bring him back and you walk would be cool. Um, there's concept are unlike, I think, one of the video games. There's Annie Walker Jetta. Really? Yeah. So if they ever had any want you like that would just be mind blowing. But also, you gotta find out. Where is this little orphan babies? Parents. But I noticed that, like, I love his Like prejudice. I loved Amanda. Lawrence prejudicing gets Androids because they killed his parents. And his sympathy for for orphans is clear. But what's funny about Star Wars is they follow. You know, the Chris Vogeler, David Campbell like, story of myth or whatever. Like that they hear it was drinking like you could take that book and you could apply it to, like, every Star wars ever. You know, mostly all the Disney stuff too. They follow the same path, but

spk_1:   21:52
oh, yeah. Liking on any of that.

spk_0:   21:54
Yeah. Um where's the mail or ain't gonna end up, I don't know. Hopefully there'll be like a bigger budget for season tune. They'll expand the story because it's pretty tight story. Like what? It was like a variety article or some article online was talking about how formulate the story is and like, it's like a police procedure rolling. They pretty much okay, Here's the famous guest star and he gets into danger than the thought of it. Like, um, what if you came across it, but that's basically what they were saying.

spk_1:   22:22
I haven't come across that, but it feels very much like a a video game TV show in so much of like, he keeps having sites for our side missions.

spk_0:   22:33
Oh, yeah, they mingle in Akita. Yeah, well, like

spk_1:   22:37
the main goal every episode. It's very episodic, like, you know, the main thing is he's gotta keep baby of a safe, but he keeps going on missions and shit. So it's It's very that has nothing to do with the grand scheme of things other than you might get. A little, you know, was in the second episode, he was on a side mission. Go collect an egg from Ah, big beast. Yes. And then we find out baby yoga has powers.

spk_0:   22:59
Yeah, there's very little moving the main story forward. But then, like danger of the week episodes air happening consistently. You

spk_1:   23:07
know what? I'm not. I'm kind of on board for that. Like, I it doesn't, but it doesn't bother me that it's really tight storytelling. Yeah, it doesn't move the main plot along too much, but like it's never boring. I think it was.

spk_0:   23:22
Then I would watch.

spk_1:   23:23
Does get a bit of a train wreck.

spk_0:   23:25
Oh, it could have been a train wreck. Speaking of train wrecks, Jason Bateman's character in this movie with, Oh, is it a little wild? Yeah, maybe this turning. Did you ever see this movie called The Longest Week? Oh, you should look that up. It's on prime right now, The longest week. You should watch that. That's definitely a plurality. It's almost like a Wes Anderson type movie. A little more subtle, like it doesn't really have Biggs like grandiose moments, but it's bourgeois G man. It's definitely like a certain type of lifestyle. But then certain kind of characters that have, um, they have to create your own problems or the It's a cycle of creating their own problems. What is pretty interesting? Um, Jason Bateman plays like a and affluent like New York, like adult men. Like a like a man child whose parents are very successful and very wealthy. And he's just like a like ne'er do well. And then it's almost like Arthur the story of our other You know, that movie? Uh, the Dudley Moore. Yeah, like you're suddenly cut off from your like your I don't know, whatever your trust, fund your lifestyle. Yeah, and then you have literally have no skills. You're out in the world you have to deal with really strips and timing and everything. But it is basically a week in this guy's life. And, uh, yeah, so and it's got Billie Crept up is the support. And Jenny Slate is in her name. Yeah, that's right. Yeah, she plays this support. And so I mean, it's got a great cast, and it said It's kind of a smaller movie, man. It's like, uh, just like a slice of life.

spk_1:   25:17
What was it called again?

spk_0:   25:18
The longest week?

spk_1:   25:21
I have to look that up to something and that this is.

spk_0:   25:22
It's on the tail end of like when they were really still making romantic comedies. You know what I mean? Like, there was like it just like it spluttered and died right before the super movies took

spk_1:   25:32
over. Oh, if you want to talk about another movie like a genre that is really made any more, I wouldn't actually have a double feature yesterday in the theater, which is something I do anymore once on knives Out, which I don't need to sell you on that Everybody knows everybody's talking.
