interesting is normally we would see coughing dogs, right?"},{"startTime":2194.18,"endTime":2195.98,"body":"I mean, we see kennel cough all the time."},{"startTime":2195.98,"endTime":2198.1,"body":"Retriegiaid is all the time."},{"startTime":2198.1,"endTime":2203.1,"body":"And I think what the way that it happened for us was, um, the first exposed."},{"startTime":2217.54,"endTime":2219.2999999999997,"body":"They present that we see kennel cough."},{"startTime":2219.2999999999997,"endTime":2220.2999999999997,"body":"Mm-hmm."},{"startTime":2220.2999999999997,"endTime":2222.42,"body":"Doesn't mean that their border televaccine doesn't work."},{"startTime":2222.42,"endTime":2225.94,"body":"It just means they got some cold being around a lot of dogs."},{"startTime":2225.94,"endTime":2228.3399999999997,"body":"So we have a routine the way we treat those patients."},{"startTime":2228.3399999999997,"endTime":2233.2599999999998,"body":"And then we were seeing that that wasn't resolving the coughing for some of these patients."},{"startTime":2233.2599999999998,"endTime":2236.66,"body":"And so then that's when we were like, that's weird."},{"startTime":2236.66,"endTime":2239.5,"body":"We also never treat pneumonia practically ever."},{"startTime":2239.5,"endTime":2240.5,"body":"Right."},{"startTime":2240.5,"endTime":2244.98,"body":"So, um, we'll have a dog who aspirates because it has an underlying condition."},{"startTime":2244.98,"endTime":2246.9,"body":"And so we might treat pneumonia that way."},{"startTime":2246.9,"endTime":2250.1,"body":"But we hardly ever treat pneumonia in K9 patients."},{"startTime":2250.1,"endTime":2251.8599999999997,"body":"I mean, we just don't, it's not a thing."},{"startTime":2251.8599999999997,"endTime":2253.58,"body":"We very often treat."},{"startTime":2253.58,"endTime":2256.62,"body":"And so we were seeing pneumonia repetitively."},{"startTime":2256.62,"endTime":2258.5,"body":"And we're like, all right, that's not right our care, but pass away because of the mystery illness?"},{"startTime":2268.74,"endTime":2271.94,"body":"I feel like there's only been one at an ER clinic, whatever."},{"startTime":2292.14,"endTime":2293.14,"body":"Yeah."},{"startTime":2293.14,"endTime":2295.54,"body":"Who have had a couple that have gone on for months though?"},{"startTime":2295.54,"endTime":2296.54,"body":"Oh, yes."},{"startTime":2296.54,"endTime":2301.8199999999997,"body":"That's the more common thing is they don't resolve in that first seven to ten day window,"},{"startTime":2301.8199999999997,"endTime":2303.8599999999997,"body":"like normal tracheitis."},{"startTime":2303.8599999999997,"endTime":2304.8599999999997,"body":"It's-"},{"startTime":2304.8599999999997,"endTime":2305.8599999999997,"body":"You're in I still have good luck with the first line treatment with, especially the"},{"startTime":2316.5,"endTime":2317.5,"body":"younger pneumonia."},{"startTime":2334.02,"endTime":2335.02,"body":"Some are really bad."},{"startTime":2335.02,"endTime":2336.5,"body":"Some aren't that bad."},{"startTime":2336.5,"endTime":2338.14,"body":"Start the second line treatment."},{"startTime":2338.14,"endTime":2341.3799999999997,"body":"You recheck the X-rays two weeks after."},{"startTime":2341.3799999999997,"endTime":2344.74,"body":"There's been a couple times where it hasn't cleared on me for my patients."},{"startTime":2344.74,"endTime":2348.98,"body":"So I've had to either continue or then we talk about sampling the airway, well, we used"},{"startTime":2348.98,"endTime":2352.18,"body":"to talk about sampling the airway."},{"startTime":2352.18,"endTime":2357.7,"body":"But then once you clear on X-ray, I think that's important to talk about is the pneumonia"},{"startTime":2357.7,"endTime":2358.7,"body":"is gone."},{"startTime":2358.7,"endTime":2362.22,"body":"You go two weeks after the cleared X-ray of antibiotic treatment."},{"startTime":2362.22,"endTime":2367.46,"body":"If they're still coughing, it's probably due to post infection, inflammation and irritation."},{"startTime":2367.46,"endTime":2371.18,"body":"Like, imagine if you were sick for that long in your airways, you're not going to just stop"},{"startTime":2371.18,"endTime":2373.66,"body":"coughing that immediately."},{"startTime":2373.66,"endTime":2378.14,"body":"So I think that's the biggest, like the question we'll have is are they still contagious?"},{"startTime":2378.14,"endTime":2379.14,"body":"Right."},{"startTime":2379.14,"endTime":2380.14,"body":"I was going to say that's enough."},{"startTime":2380.14,"endTime":2381.14,"body":"It's so hard."},{"startTime":2381.14,"endTime":2382.14,"body":"I know."},{"startTime":2382.14,"endTime":2386.3799999999997,"body":"For honors, I think too, is that like, well, can I take my dog in and we're like, I seeing for whatever reason, which I guess"},{"startTime":2407.3799999999997,"endTime":2411.46,"body":"makes sense, but people are afraid to come in the clinic with their dog that they're thing."},{"startTime":2416.5,"endTime":2422.02,"body":"Like, I mean, I suppose if you were in the same room or within a certain period, like but"},{"startTime":2426.3799999999997,"endTime":2430.22,"body":"just like with people and COVID, like, this isn't the only place your dog is walking from store to store to store to store, you know, because we have to live."},{"startTime":2444.06,"endTime":2445.06,"body":"But I mean, I don't know."},{"startTime":2445.06,"endTime":2449.18,"body":"I'm just not scared of dogs coming in the clinic for routine care."},{"startTime":2449.18,"endTime":2452.7,"body":"And I think it's because we are on the inside where we know the precautions we're taking."},{"startTime":2452.7,"endTime":2453.7,"body":"Right."},{"startTime":2453.7,"endTime":2457.46,"body":"Like, even when we do curbside appointments and now that it's cold, we may still bring"},{"startTime":2457.46,"endTime":2464.7,"body":"the dog into the building to do the appointment, but we have literally specific back rooms,"},{"startTime":2464.7,"endTime":2469.46,"body":"if you will, like isolated rooms so that there is no contact with other animals in the"},{"startTime":2469.46,"endTime":2474.02,"body":"clinic now, like they're separated by a hallway and doorways."},{"startTime":2474.02,"endTime":2479.54,"body":"And then we, the staff who interacts with that animal, we take precautions as well."},{"startTime":2479.54,"endTime":2484.66,"body":"We wash our hands, literally wipe down our clothes with our, I don't know."},{"startTime":2484.66,"endTime":2488.3399999999997,"body":"We just probably carcinogenic wipes that we have for cleaning."},{"startTime":2488.3399999999997,"endTime":2494.8199999999997,"body":"And wear gloves and I mean bleach and disinfect these rooms that the dogs are in."},{"startTime":2494.8199999999997,"endTime":2499.3399999999997,"body":"Like we're doing all the precautions where there's absolutely no reason or I would have no"},{"startTime":2499.3399999999997,"endTime":2504.54,"body":"concern fit for me, bring my dog in to the normal, through the normal front door into our"},{"startTime":2504.54,"endTime":2505.9,"body":"appointment rooms to do an exam."},{"startTime":2505.9,"endTime":2506.9,"body":"Yeah."},{"startTime":2506.9,"endTime":2510.66,"body":"If it also makes people feel better, we're not going to mess around with turn or not keeping"},{"startTime":2510.66,"endTime":2513.8199999999997,"body":"ourselves clean and keeping our workstations clean because
