Obtaining information from the hospitals where an applicant has practiced, peer references, and residency or fellowship training programs in which an applicant has participated, is a critical part of the credentialing process as it allows a hospital to confirm an applicant’s current clinical competence and professionalism. But, unfortunately, what sometimes happens when a hospital reaches out to these third parties and requests information about an applicant’s clinical competence and professionalism, they receive very limited information that is not helpful or meaningful, or they get radio silence.
