In this episode Two Dozy Broads discuss survival tools for the upcoming Holiday Season.
Hello, all. Oh, hello. Hello, hello. We are well into the fall season or spring if you are in the southern hemisphere. The Don is continuing to produce our podcast in his typical stellar fashion. Oh, wonderful. Yes. Gary is listening to us intently. Yeah, right. And Blaze is beautiful as ever, but we don't know where she is right now. I am Linda Stroeshane from the Mercury Academy. And I am Sandy from Gemological Esoterica.
SPEAKER_02And we are two dozy broads. Well, it's the start of the holiday season, otherwise known by we dozies as the silly season. You mean we del delineate which silly season we're in? Is that what we do? Pretty much, yeah.
SPEAKER_01Oh, okay. Well the silliest season.
SPEAKER_02Yes, it's the most silliest time of the year. It doesn't matter if or which holidays you celebrate, on one level or another, almost all of us will be faced with some sort of holiday or family celebrations. We can't avoid it.
SPEAKER_01Well, we try. Well, we try, yeah. Yes. So this year we realize that the economy and political situations in many places feel somewhat tenuous. We dozies do not discuss politics or the economy in our podcast. No, we don't. But we would like to talk about a few things that each of us can do to soothe emotions and maybe pocketbooks while still celebrating the holidays. So, in my fashion as usual, I am going to be talking about stones. Good. And I have, you guys can't see it obviously, but there are six stones in front of me. There is a clear quartz, a pyrite, an obsidian, a rose quartz, a banded agate, and an amethyst. And my suggestion for the holidays, get yourself a set of stones that you like. Okay. It doesn't have to be a lot of stones, and it's whatever you personally like. So they don't have to be big expensive things. They do not. Most of these stones you can buy for between a dollar and three dollars apiece. Good deal. At most, you know, a rock show or even a little gift shop or whatever it is. You know, pick up some stuff and they're useful. If you're gonna do it, also pick up maybe some Organza bags. Oh, that makes it look so pretty. It isn't just for you. This is for gifts this holiday season. Yes. If you want to give something that somebody will have fun playing with or whatever, 20 years ago I used to supply stones to a local hospital. They would give pass out tumbled stones to people that were trying to quit smoking. And they they would give little people these little bags, and there was a tumbled stone and some chewing gum and all toothpicks and all this stuff. And you would keep your mind occupied so that you weren't smoking. But the tumbled stones had proved so useful they had bought from me for many, many years. Oh, neat. People like that the best because they could put them in their pocket and they could play with them and do whatever. It's tactile and smoking and any habit is in part of tactile. Yes, it is. So anyway, the stones that I have, like I say, uh these are just the ones I have in front of me. Maybe where you are something will be more prevalent. Who knows? But I do kind of recommend tumbled stones because it's tactile, as we were just talking about, it's much more comfortable comforting. Well, they don't have those those sharp edges. No, they don't. The pyrite here is a little odd, but other than that.
SPEAKER_02Oh, but it's so useful.
SPEAKER_01Yes. But the the clear quartz is for energy. Uh you can, it'll give you a little energetic boost. Yeah. The pyrite, which is one of our favorites, is to keep family at bay during the holidays. Get a big chunk of it. My father used to say, get a five-pound bag of it and hang it around your neck. And pyrite helps, like, okay, an example of this would be Aunt Mary comes to the family get gathering and she looks at you and she says, My, you've gained a few pounds this year.
SPEAKER_02Bless her heart.
SPEAKER_01Yep. And so in other situations, you might be taking offense at this, but if you have your pyrite, basically the energy is just turned back at her, and you just walk away and say, You're not pushing my buttons today, honey. And then you don't get arrested. And then you don't, well, depends what what you've done later on in the in the meal. But at least, at least Aunt Mary, that will not be the reason you were arrested. Well, that's good. The next one I have is uh obsidian. Obsidian is protection. If you get any black stone, that is protection. Uh I also have rose quartz. That's for love and beauty. During the holidays, sometimes we forget the fact that we are beautiful people. Yes.
SPEAKER_02And we have so many relatives telling us we've gained weight.
SPEAKER_01That's right, that we've gained weight or we look older or or or something, or our our clothes fit funny or whatever it is.
SPEAKER_02Where did that ring call come from?
SPEAKER_01Well, you can see that right now I have the pyrite and the rose quartz sitting right next to each other. I've moved them into a configuration.
SPEAKER_02Definitely.
SPEAKER_01And then the next one is a banded agate, which is protection. And it doesn't matter what color banded agate. Around here, we live in Minnesota, Wisconsin, and we have Lake Superior agates, which are have many bands. But you can get Botswana from Africa, there's stones from Madagascar, from South America. Find an agate you like and carry it with you. The world is full of agates. It really is. Oh, wow. And then the last one is amethyst, which is good for insomnia. And also that mind chatter you get during the holidays where you overthink things. Amethyst helps prevent you from overthinking things. What a gift that would be. So these are the six I have. And if I were giving gifts to my family, which I try not to, um, I try not to, I try not to go, let's put it that way. I try to stay away. But if I were, maybe I would pass little things of this out and just let people, or I'd bring a little, a little thing of stones and let everybody pick one out. That would, and then you'd find out exactly where everyone is that day. That's it's an interesting thing at the shop, I kid you not, that I love it when a new customer comes in and I love to watch what they grab because they don't just grab one red jasper. No, they grab 18 of them. Ah, okay. And it's or they don't, you know, and they usually don't vary much either. Uh-huh. It's like they they focus, this is what I want.
SPEAKER_02So it's a lot like in the Tarot. Uh they'll go through and say, I like that card. And it the card may not be the happiest of cards, but it's a card they like that day. I have uh a dear friend who used to say, I'm gonna go through your deck and I'm gonna remove all the cards I don't like. And I said, Well, then you know what I'm gonna do. I'll read from those because those are the cards that are the most important. Those are the ones that are having an effect on you. I won't deal with the ones you like. Right. So my my contribution to the state of things is a little kind of do-it-yourself project from someone who has no capacity to do it. To do it yourself. Exactly, yeah. Uh these are things you can you can put in a little bowl, a vase, a fancy objet. With a few stones? You could all stones are wonderful. You can put it all together, have a little centerpiece, and they do help with various kinds of mood and other things. One thing you can do it with is uh is cinnamon sticks. Now, cinnamon is healing, protection, psychic powers. So you know you know in a duck when someone is throwing a dinner roll at you, I guess. It's ruled by Venus. And Venus is, if nothing else, Venus deals with money. It also deals with women. Okay. And the holidays are beset and besieged by women. True. Women are prime motivators, and they're also frequently prime culprits. And so it is if you make a little centerpiece that has some cinnamon sticks sticking out of something, uh, that would be very good. Another thing you can use are anus stars. Those pretty pretty little stars. Or anise if you live in Europe. Oh, okay. Or anise if you live in Europe. Protection, it is youth, okay. Which I guess uh on the one hand, it can make the old act like juvenile delinquents. Yeah, I will call 911. Someone's just about to uh pretend that they can they can play twister like they did 60 years ago. Uh it's it's ruled by Jupiter, and so that deals with good feelings, happiness, bonami. A friend of ours used to call it Jupiter, cosmic Santa Claus. It's a kind of ho-ho-ho. We want people to be happy. And that's another thing you can add. You could also add Palo Santo sticks.
SPEAKER_01Oh that's a blessed Holywood. You could add one or two of those if you can find some, and that will give it a give it a clearer vibe. Exactly.
SPEAKER_02Another thing you can throw in there are almonds, just a few.
SPEAKER_01Oh, okay.
SPEAKER_02Uh now shelled or not. Doesn't matter, but these are not eating almonds. Oh, okay. These are absorbing crap almonds, just like the the cinnamon and the anise. Uh these are things that will absorb cooties and thrown away after. Throw them away afterward. Don't don't turn around and make mold wine or eat the almonds or something. Almonds are prosperity and wisdom. They also are money. So if you You got a lot of money in this one. There's a lot of money. A lot of money. Maybe you can shake some out of the tree from some cheap relative or another, you never know. Put put the put the almonds right in front of them and and wear a five-pound pie write around. Exactly. Unless they happen to be allergic at which point in time you don't want to do that.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, we don't do that to the producer. We're not doing that around the producer.
SPEAKER_02Almonds are are ruled by mercury. And so if you are giving a uh some sort of a performance, a broadcast, or a performance. You feel like you're well, basically the holidays are performance art. That's true. And you're the sort of person who wants to hide with uh the shrubbery. Almond, throw a couple almonds in your pocket or something, or or eat a couple ahead of time that will help you be a little better with your words and that sort of thing. Another thing you can use in all of this is lemons. Lemons are longevity and they are love, friendship, and the moon is the thing that that is uh the planet that that rules them. And so it they also freshen the air. Yep. You can uh poke a little hole in them and and shove an almond in or a little bigger hole and put a cinnamon stick in it or poke it. It would make an interesting centerpiece. It would. It would be kind of a Tim Burton slash Wednesday Adams centerpiece. But it appeals to me in so many ways. Then you can get those little sticky eyeballs that you get, which you can get from the various places. Put little eyes on there. I think that would be great. And then Lyme. Lime's another one you can use. Lime is healing. So if you have somebody at the table who hasn't been well, and basically that's everybody.
SPEAKER_01Everybody's got especially at the holidays, yeah.
SPEAKER_02Exactly. Uh it's healing, it's love and protection, and it's ruled by the sun. And the sun is your basic sense of self. And so it's a a general y'all feel better, okay. Sort of a thing. And you can take any or all of these and put them together in some strange combination of your own. There you go. Or maybe you've got a really big, pretty centerpiece, and you can just shove these in in little places.
SPEAKER_01How long can you leave them together?
SPEAKER_02Uh, you can leave them together about as long as the meal lasts. Oh, okay. When when the when the people say goodbye and they leave, pull out all of this stuff, think a thank you, and throw it all away. And it's okay to throw it in the garbage? Oh, yeah. Because at that point in time, lemons go back to being lemons. It's kind of like in Cinderella. The the coach is now a pumpkin, so you can throw it out. So and that is my contribution. Thank you. Well, I hope so.
SPEAKER_01Yeah. We we want to toot our horn just ever so slightly. Uh sometime two or three weeks ago, I got the uh the the really wonderful email that said we have had over 5,000 downloads. That is marvelous. We we don't even know 5,000 people. We don't even know six people that many times, however many times that would be.
SPEAKER_02I was trying to think of how many people I actually know, and uh wow.
SPEAKER_01That's like when you when they always talk about on on TV shows where you and your six closest friends will go too, and it's like, I don't know, six people I'd invite anywhere.
SPEAKER_02I try to think about that too. And it it doesn't make me sad, it just makes me confused. Makes me scared if I had to bring one of the things.
SPEAKER_01Well, what's really frighten what's really frightening is that there there's people that it's like they have so many close friends. Yeah, people would be ticked off if they didn't get to be the six closest friends.
SPEAKER_02If I if if I get past Gary, then the the the rank gets s really kind of hazy. Yeah. So, oh well, what do you do? And you guys are generally busy because you actually go places.
SPEAKER_01On occasion we do, yes, yes, we do. Well, we do hope that everyone has an enjoyable and blessed holiday season, no matter what days you do or do not celebrate or avoiding.
SPEAKER_02Exactly. Be safe, be well and prosper. Yes, happy holidays to to each of us and all of us, and God help us, everyone. There we go. There we go.
SPEAKER_01So please continue to follow us into the holiday season and coming new year if you're brave enough.
SPEAKER_02Yes.
SPEAKER_01Or silly enough. I'm not sure which that would be. Through the holidays and beyond. Okay. Okay, I am Sandy from Gemological Esoterica. Are you sure? No, never.
SPEAKER_02And I generally am Linda Strochine from the Mercury Academy, and we remain two dozy broths. Goodbye.
