Episode Overview
We live in uncertain timesβpolitical division, economic instability, and social tension make it easy to feel overwhelmed. Many place their hope in temporary things, only to be left disappointed. This episode challenges you to consider your anchor and offers a lasting alternative.
Key Discussion Points
πΉ The Illusion of Stability β Uncertainty seems like the only constant. Many feel lost as the world shifts around them.
πΉ False Anchors β Political leaders, finances, and people fail us. When they do, fear and hopelessness take over.
πΉ The True Anchor β Danielβs life teaches us that real stability comes from trusting Godβs sovereignty. No government or leader holds ultimate powerβGod does.
πΉ Godβs Sovereignty β No election, crisis, or event overrides His eternal plan. His throne is unshakable.
πΉ The Gift of Peace β True peace isnβt the absence of problems but a gift from God. John 14:27 says, βI leave you with peace of mind and heartβa gift the world cannot give.β
Practical Application
β Pray More Than You Panic β Fear should drive you to God, not control you.
β Engage with Wisdom β Donβt let politics or media dictate your peace.
β Fix Your Focus on Jesus β His kingdom is eternal, and He is in control.
β Be Light in Dark Times β Choose faith over fear, peace over panic, and hope over despair.
β Live in Shalom β Godβs peace means wholeness, security, and completeness. Itβs a lifestyle, not just a feeling.
Key Scriptures
π Daniel 2:21 β βHe controls world events; He removes and sets up kings.β
π Isaiah 26:3 β βYou will keep in perfect peace all who trust in You.β
π Hebrews 13:8 β βJesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever.β
Call to Action
β‘ Evaluate β Whatβs your anchor? Is it temporary or unshakable?
β‘ Pause & Pray β When anxiety rises, remind yourself that God is in control.
β‘ Replace Fear with Faith β Choose trust over worry.
β‘ Act on Truth β When fear strikes, respond with faith.
Closing Thought
If your anchor is in Jesus, the storms may rage, but you will not be moved. The world is unstable, but God is unshakable. Hope isnβt found in the headlinesβitβs found in Him.

The Journey of Faith: Relinquishing Control and Trusting God
This episode explores the transformative journey of faith and spiritual growth through relinquishing control and trusting in Godβs plan. Using the analogy of a trust fall, we uncover how letting go can lead to greater peace and understanding. This message is supported by biblical wisdom and practical steps and equips you to embrace surrender daily.
The Trust Fall Analogy
β’ Visualize a trust fall: The hardest part isnβt the fall itself but the decision to let go.
β’ This mirrors our relationship with God, requiring us to surrender control and trust His promises.
True peace and spiritual growth come from surrendering control and trusting in Godβs timing and plan.
Three Key Mindsets
1. Let People Be Where They Are
β’ You are not called to be anyoneβs savior. Only God can change hearts.
β’ Instead of trying to βfixβ others, pray for them and trust Godβs timing.
β’ Biblical Support: βEach of us will give a personal account to God.β (Romans 14:12)
β’ Practical Steps:
β’ Refrain from judgment; focus on encouraging and building others up.
2. Accept Situations for What They Are
β’ Contentment is trusting God amid circumstances.
β’ Biblical Support: βI have learned to be content with whatever I have.β (Philippians 4:11)
β’ Paulβs example reminds us that Godβs grace is sufficient, and strength comes from Christ.
β’ Stop fighting what you cannot change; let God hold you through it.
β’ Promise: βGod will supply all your needs from His glorious riches.β (Philippians 4:19)
3. Not Every Action Needs a Reaction
β’ Wisdom begins with restraint. Not every word or action requires an immediate response.
β’ Biblical Support: βBe quick to listen, slow to speak, and slow to get angry.β (James 1:19)
β’ Anger clouds judgment and blocks Godβs wisdom.
β’ Restraint creates space for Godβs power to shape your response.
β’ Silence and stillness often reflect the wisdom of Jesus in challenging moments.
Practical Steps
β’ Ask yourself: Am I trusting God with the people in my life, or am I trying to control their journey?
β’ Release the need to judge or control: Pray for those you are tempted to βfix,β trusting in Godβs timing.
β’ Focus on one challenge: Ask God to reveal His provision through it instead of resisting it.
β’ Pause before reacting: Reflect on Godβs wisdom in difficult situations by praying and listening.
The Importance of Surrender
Letting go is a bold step of faith

Introduction
This episode explores the concept of "breaking points" in life, drawing inspiration from the biblical story of Job and the Apostle Paul's experience in 2 Corinthians. The episode emphasizes that these moments of intense pressure, while challenging, can become opportunities for spiritual growth and a deeper reliance on God.
Episode Overview
The episode uses the story of Job, a righteous man who lost everything, and Paul's account of facing overwhelming hardship to illustrate how breaking points can be turning points. It challenges the common saying, "God won't give you more than you can handle," suggesting that God sometimes allows us to be overwhelmed, so we learn to rely on His strength.
The episode encourages listeners to view their breaking points not as punishment but as opportunities for God to work in their lives. It suggests that through pressure, God can produce power and shape us into who He wants us to be.

There's Trauma in The Pews
The greatest lesson I learned while pastoring during this pandemic is trauma in the pews, and most pastors (including me) aren't prepared to deal with it.
Too many churches are focused on just getting folks back in the building and ignoring the trauma all have faced, to various degrees, during the pandemic.
Unless that changes, the church will be weaker and unable to fulfill its mission of creating disciples. The good news is that the people outside the walls face the same trauma and need what only the Christian church offers.
Meet Rev. Dr. Ebony Only
The Rev. Dr. Ebony D. Only serves as Executive Pastor at First Baptist Church of University Park in University Park, Illinois, and is the Inaugural Community Chaplain Fellow for Bishop Anderson House on Chicago's Near West Side.
Answering the call to assist in the practical development of pastors, para-church leaders, and members, Ebony founded Only One Consulting, an organization devoted to nurturing church and not-for-profit leaders to operate at their maximum capacity.
Rev. Dr. Ebony Only received her Doctorate of Ministry Degree from the Samuel Dewitt Proctor School of Theology at Virginia Union University. Her dissertation titled: Self-Care β A Practical Intervention for the Solo Pastor is the basis for much of her ministry.

This week's Episode: What If They Don't Come Back Like We Thought They Would, features Pastor Kervance Ross.
First, I'm interviewing thought leaders regarding the church's lifecycle, chart its decline (pre-Covid), how Covid accelerated change and forced us online, and what's next on the horizon. Next, we will converse about measuring church online and hybrid church metrics. Additionally, I'd like to drill down on why views are not what we should solely measure. Finally, we will end our interview by focusing on what's next for the church and how pastors & church leaders can plan. The goal is for the listener to walk away with a few "next steps" regardless of where their ministry is right now.
Meet Pastor Kervance D. Ross
Impactful, Cutting-Edge, Driven, and Revolutionary are only a few words used to describe Kervance D. Ross vividly. This accomplished ministry leader, purpose pioneer, author, mainstream coach, and marketplace master inspires thousands of people worldwide. His presentation style, background, and leadership skills blend harmoniously to distinguish, in any arena, this visionary, business-minded powerhouse. Meshing the Marketplace, Ministry, and the Mainstream, Kervance burst onto the national scene over a decade ago with his initial bestselling book, How to Change the Mind of the Mediocre Manβ¦Five Keys to Move From Good to Amazing. This book serves as an in-depth journey into the mind and actions of the "curse called average" in 21st-century men.
In January 2020, he was prophetically named the Pastor of Internet & Innovation at New Birth Missionary Baptist Church in Lithonia, Ga. Such an appointment occurred right before the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic and the next move of the church to the digital space. This situated Kervance as a global leader in online church and futurism, spaces in which his enormous influence is only sure to grow. He has earned his undergraduate from Alabama A&M University and master's degree from the University of Phoenix in marketing from an educational perspective. He is now a doctoral candidate, passionately pursuing his Ph.D. in leadership and organizational change. Kervance is also receiving rave reviews to release his second book, Leadership for Life, and his newest literary jewel, The Business in the Bible.
