Deuteronomy—Love and Listen :: 10/26/25 :: Dr. Mark Young
Welcome to Wellspring Church!
This Sunday, Dr. Mark Young joined us with a message from Deuteronomy 25:5–10, continuing our Love and Listenseries. He explored how Israel’s unique family laws were not random or archaic, but deeply reflective of God’s redemptive character—calling His people to restore, protect, and make whole those who are vulnerable.
Dr. Young highlighted that the laws in Deuteronomy were never meant to earn redemption; they were given to the already redeemed as a pattern for living out God’s salvation in community. Just as Israel was to embody the compassion and justice of their Redeemer, the Church today is called to express the presence of Christ in tangible, restorative ways.
📖 Key Themes in This Message:
🔹 God’s laws reveal His character—justice joined with mercy
🔹 Redemption is both personal and communal
🔹 The call to step “redemptively into the lives of people in need” with compassion and wisdom
🔹 Living out God’s justice by helping make people whole
🔹 Families and communities as places where God’s redemption is meant to be seen
Dr. Young commended Wellspring for already living out this calling—supporting families, nurturing children, and caring for those at risk socially, financially, or relationally. Our obedience in these things, he said, testifies to the world who our God is.
Faith is not abstract—it is embodied in love, service, and faithful presence. As we live out our redemption, we make God known in our city.
