Girls play sports?? From growing up in a small town in Ontario playing hockey, being scouted by Dartmouth College, playing for Team Canada and more… Ailish Forfar has followed her love for hockey, no matter where it led her. Ultimately ending up in Toronto, playing for the Ryerson Rams, Ailish also found herself studying Sport Media at Ryerson as well. Needless to say, sports has always been an important part of her life. Post university and unsure where her degree would take her, she ended up freelancing for BlogTo - among others, and just this past year landed a job on Sportsnet 590 The Fan Morning Show coming to your radios live everyday at 6am! Ailish sits down with me to discuss what it was really like as a female professional athlete, and the challenges she’s been experiencing now, as a woman working in the sports media industry. Her hope - that women’s sports will continue to grow in the direction it needs to - and she believes with her role on the Fan590, she can help make the change women’s sports desperately needs.
