02 Marjan Šorli and Domesticated Architecture: Holiday house in Funtana

Muzej za arhitekturo in oblikovanje Season 2 Episode 2

The architect planned a holiday home in Funtana near Vrsar in Istria for the family of his daughter Vida. He and his son-in-law Peter found an old cowshed on the outskirts of the village, which Šorli renovated into a small, walled-in summer retreat in 1971. According to some, the house was Šorli's interpretation of a Roman house, while others say he explained it as a "built-up tent". Zdenka Ogris, a family friend of Šorli's daughter Vida and her husband Peter, tells us about the holidays in Funtana and her memories of the architect and his family.

The podcast is part of a series of recordings created for the exhibition Marjan Šorli and Domesticated Architecture, on view at the Museum of Architecture and Design from 30 September 2025 to 8 February 2026.
