Timothy (DM)

Welcome to Shadows of Prophecy, a D&D real play podcast, where we will find out what it takes to become a hero, face our darkest fears, and pull ourselves out of a pit of despair. Shadows of Prophecy is a Dungeons and Dragons podcast with violent themes and adult language. Listener discretion is advised.

Timothy (DM)

With us today to traverse through adventures of loss and tragedy, we have: myself, Timothy, as our ambivalent DM; Helen as the self-assured THUNDERCALP fanatic, Iolite; Dan as "Mother Mushroom" crochet champion, Maury; and Chris as our ever-so-timid, kind, crunchy, calculated, and most importantly, STACKED Baleford. Join us as we enter the Shadows of Prophecy. Prologue: A World Unravels. Chapter 10 - Aether Nightmares.

Timothy (DM)

So you clap, you don't hear a thing, but you all feel this, like, pressure in your eardrums, and then you see a crack start to form on the glass of the box, and the crack starts to tendrils out before you see the glass shatter. The pieces float out into the aether, thrown out by the force of your Thunderclap, and that's when the swirls start to pour into the room. Everybody roll initiative!

Dan (Maury)

Dammit. Oh, nat 20 baby! On initiative :/

Dan (Maury)

Can we hear again?

Timothy (DM)

No.

Helen (Iolite)

22.

Chris (Baleford)

I got 8, so I'll probably be last.

Timothy (DM)

Cyril had an 18, and your enemy got a 10.

Helen (Iolite)

So, what are we fighting now?

Chris (Baleford)

We'll find out!

Helen (Iolite)

Creepy appendages?

Timothy (DM)

Black wispy humanoid... things.

Helen (Iolite)

[totally cool] Ok cool.

Dan (Maury)

How many of them are there?

Dan (Maury)

The black smoke starts to pour into the room as two figures take form on either side of the party. Io, what are you doing?

Helen (Iolite)

Are they tangible? Can I grab one? Can I touch one? Touch.

Timothy (DM)

Yeah, they seem to be taking physical form.

Helen (Iolite)

Okay. Io-- So, I'm going to use Shocking Grasp, so I touch the one closest to me. It's a melee spell attack. So... to hit is 25.

Timothy (DM)

25 will hit.

Helen (Iolite)

And that does 1d8 lightning damage... 8! 8 lightning damage and can't take reactions until its next turn.

Timothy (DM)

Lovely. All right.

Helen (Iolite)

Can we hear yet?

Timothy (DM)

Nope! [Helen: "Oh god"], No. This battle is completely silent. It is Maury's turn.

Dan (Maury)

So, Maury is going to use Symbiotic Entity. Um, so expend one of her Wild Shapes to turn into a mushroom person! [*sparkle sparkle*] So, you see that where the pockets are on the inside of her crocheted cloak, mushrooms start to grow through the cloak, y'know, 'cause when you crochet, there are, like, little holes in between the yarn? Yeah. And so they start to, like... mushrooms start to grow and poke through, and they release spores, and they start to swirl around her. And little mushrooms start to grow on her face as well.

Timothy (DM)

Niiiiiice.

Dan (Maury)

So, she's... yeah. [laughing] She just grows up onto mushrooms out of places.

Timothy (DM)

All right. And what effect does that have?

Dan (Maury)

I gain 12 hit points (temporary hit points) and then... I do more things.... when I hit things. [Tim stiffles laughter]

Helen (Iolite)

Nice. So mushrooms, they're all, like, earthy colored? Any bright ones or...?

Dan (Maury)

There are some, like... you got a couple, like, red with the white dots: the fly uh-gare--?

Helen (Iolite)

Fly Amanita? If that is what it's actually called; that's what it's called in The Elder Scrolls. [Editor's Note: The Elder Scrolls is a video game series with a litany of mushrooms. Is very gud]

Dan (Maury)

Cool. Yeah, yeah, and then, like, a couple of blue ones, a couple of, like, pink oyster, so, like, shelved mushroom, some chicken of the woods. Y'know, the good ones. She grows, like, this big lion's mane on top of her head on top of her cloak, like, poofs up.

Helen (Iolite)

Like a hat!

Dan (Maury)

Yeah. And that's an action,s o that's all I can do.

Timothy (DM)

All right. So, Cyril is going to approach Io and place their hand on your shoulder. You feel a warmth emanate from your body, and they have cast Heroism. So, at the beginning of every turn, you will gain UP TO three temporary hit points with a max of three, and you are immune to Frightened as you feel imbued with bravery.

Helen (Iolite)

So, to gain three at the beginning of every turn, so, like, the next turn, I'll have three and then I'll have six.

Timothy (DM)

No, no, no, yeah, it's just three, and then if you lose some, you can go back up.

Helen (Iolite)

Okay, got it.

Timothy (DM)

Yep. All right. So, that was Cyril's turn.

Helen (Iolite)

[stares into the middle distance, arms akimbo] Iolite looks confident

Dan (Maury)

For the first time in her life. [Tim, Dan, and Helen laugh]

Timothy (DM)

All right. So, the two figures are going to lash out at Io and Maury. [Dan: "Nooooo"]. They grasp at you. Does a 17 hit Io?

Dan (Maury)

Yes.

Timothy (DM)

All right. So, they grasp at you as you feel your energy draining, they do 6 necrotic damage.

Dan (Maury)

[weakly] Nooooo.

Helen (Iolite)

Damn. Okay.

Timothy (DM)

And your Strength score is reduced by 2 as you feel weakened by their attack.

Helen (Iolite)

So, if I gain the hit points at the start of my turn, I don't have the temporary hit points yet.

Timothy (DM)

You got the 3 when that spell was, yeah, cast.

Helen (Iolite)

So, I'm down -3 now from 6 damage, ok. And I have -2 Strength? [Tim: "Yep"] Okay.

Timothy (DM)

Maury, does a 15 hit?

Dan (Maury)

It does. I'm also going to Spores it, but we can do that after that as it gets closer to me.

Timothy (DM)

You are going to take 5 necrotic damage, and your Strength is going to be reduced by 3 [Dan: "Uck"] as you feel the energy draining from your body, and you are weakened by their attack. Alright, Baleford, what are you doing?

Chris (Baleford)

I'm gonna do something very boring I'm gonna cast Mage Armor on myself.

Timothy (DM)

[laughs] Okay, you cast Mage Armor. What is your Mage Armor look like?

Chris (Baleford)

I've got a bandana in my pants, [Tim laughs] and I pull it out, and I wrap it around my head like a... like, to keep the hair on my face, and I--

Dan (Maury)

Rambo.

Chris (Baleford)

Yeah, a rain-- a rainbow Rambo, um-- [all laugh]

Dan (Maury)

In a crop top. [all laugh]

Chris (Baleford)

In a crop top, and I try to do the stretching again. [stretches] "It's like, like this?" But yeah, and then I... you see, like, a-an aura of magical abjuration appears over me.

Dan (Maury)

[to Tim] Oh, and I Spores'd it. Sorry.

Timothy (DM)

Yeah. So, what is your Spores'ing do?

Dan (Maury)

You get a Constitution save.

Timothy (DM)

[coyly] Does a 7 pass?

Dan (Maury)

[triumpahnt] No, it doesn't! Yes!

Dan (Maury)

So this any-- super spores. So, as it, like... it gets closer to, like, grapple it, I take a... I grab a mushroom off of my person (probably off of my face). She plucks the mushroom off her face and SHOVES it in its mouth (or where its mouth might be if it had a mouth). Into its being! And that's 5 necrotic damage.

Timothy (DM)

[*sigh*] Darn.

Helen (Iolite)

Get... get Spore'd!

Chris (Baleford)

I'm not considered in melee with either them right now, am I?

Timothy (DM)

No.

Chris (Baleford)

Okay, so I'm gonna try and move towards the outskirts of the group.

Timothy (DM)

Alright.

Helen (Iolite)

Sorry, I was encouraging her. [Tim laughs]

Timothy (DM)

All right, Io.

Helen (Iolite)

Io coughs out some lightning [Tim laughs] at the closest entity.

Timothy (DM)

Just like [*heuh-heugh*] and lightning falls out. [laughs]

Helen (Iolite)

[laughs] Basically. Which is a Dexterity save.

Timothy (DM)

All right. Does a 9 pass?

Helen (Iolite)

No, it does not pass. Okay, so and this is a 5 by 30 foot line. That's just gonna hit one?

Timothy (DM)

Yeah.

Helen (Iolite)

Yes. Okay. Which does 2d6lightning damage. [sadly] 2. 2 lightning damage. It really was just like a little [*heuh*].

Timothy (DM)

It's a little cough and just, like, some sparks fall out and hit it and she's like [*tssss*] All right. So, that brings us to... Maury.

Dan (Maury)

[begrudgingly] Maury is going to backhand the one who grappled her or grabbed her or did the stupid Strength-sucking thing.

Timothy (DM)

So remember: your Strength has been reduced by 3, [Dan: "I know"] Remove 3 from your modifier.

Dan (Maury)

2 from my modifier.

Timothy (DM)

2 from your modifier.

Dan (Maury)

Oh, that is a 20 to hit.

Timothy (DM)

20 will hit.

Dan (Maury)

And I do a shit ton of damage. So, I backhand this thing, and it takes 5 bludgeoning damage and 4 necrotic damage, so 9 damage in total.

Timothy (DM)

All right. So, both figures are looking fairly wispy at this point as Cyril will take a step back, allowing the figures to make attacks again on the two of you, Io and Maury. That's going to be a nat 1 on Io.

Dan (Maury)

[gleefully] I'mma Spores it. I'm gonna shove a mushroom in its face.

Timothy (DM)

All right. Does a 10 hit you, Maury?

Dan (Maury)

Technically, my spores happen first, so... and 10 misses, though.

Timothy (DM)

Does a 16 pass?

Dan (Maury)

[deflated] A 16 does pass.

Timothy (DM)

Alright, so it passes the Constitution save, but misses its attack.

Dan (Maury)

[arms crossed, eyes narrowed] Good... Stupid wisp.

Timothy (DM)

And we're up to Bale.

Chris (Baleford)

Okay, well, you said they're looking wispy? [Tim: "Yeah"] So, I'm gonna cast Magic Missile.

Timothy (DM)

All right, tried-and-true!

Chris (Baleford)

And which one looks...which one looks more damaged?

Timothy (DM)

Uh... about the same.

Chris (Baleford)

Ah, ok, I'm gonna split it. We'll do the one that's attack-- who... which one of you is more dam-- hurt. Well, I guess I don't know that, so I'm going to do one--

Helen (Iolite)

Well, so I--

Chris (Baleford)

[to Io] Well, you attacked us.

Helen (Iolite)

[owning up to event] Yeah, I hurt... hit both of you. [all laugh]

Chris (Baleford)

Yeah. I'm gonna... I'm gonna attack the one that's attacking Maury twice. So, that's gonna be 4 points of force damage to them, and then 3 points to the other one.

Timothy (DM)

All right. They are both looking REALLY faint at this point. They're starting to fade away. Io...

Helen (Iolite)

Okay. [after much deliberation] Io's gonna backhand the closest one. [Tim and Dan laugh]

Dan (Maury)

[manaically] YES!

Timothy (DM)

All right, give me an unarmed attack roll.

Helen (Iolite)

You can't hear it, but she's mouthing "What would Maury do? What would Maury do?"

Dan (Maury)

Maury, the Icon.

Helen (Iolite)

12?

Timothy (DM)

A 12 will hit. That is its AC. [laughs]

Helen (Iolite)

It just says 3 bludgeoning.

Timothy (DM)

Just 3?

Helen (Iolite)

That's just a 3. [Helen and Dan laugh]

Timothy (DM)

Um, that's enough.

Chris (Baleford)

[to Iolite] Strongarm a-a cloud.

Timothy (DM)

Um, you basically just, like, brush through it, and its form dissipates into the air.

Chris (Baleford)

[patting Io on the back] You punch the cloud. [Helen and Tim laugh]

Helen (Iolite)

Maury's right! Maury's right!

Timothy (DM)

Maury...

Dan (Maury)

Okay, Maury's gonna attempt an unarmed strike, and that will be a 14 to hit.

Timothy (DM)

14 will hit.

Dan (Maury)

So, as Maury prepares for this unarmed strike, (none of you hear this, but...) she says, "Finish him." [Tim laughs] and then... and then whips around with her tail...like, whips her tail around and hits it for... let's see how much damage that's gonna beeeee. That is for 5 damage in total: 4 bludgeoning, 1 necrotic.

Timothy (DM)

All right. It wisps away, and as both of the figures are defeated, the floor drops out from below you, and you float down into another chamber, one full of elegant silver mirrors. You see all the reflections of yourselves, reflecting back at you. Your hearing has returned to you, and you look around the room. It's like a stone chamber. The ceiling has now been replaced with stone again. So, you fell from above (you think) but you find yourself standing in this room. There are mirrors in rows all around. They're, like, in these delicate ornate silver frames, and just, like, rows of mirrors, like three or four rows of mirrors, all facing you. The walls are stone, the floor is stone, and you can hear the sound of your footsteps as you hit the stone floor, realizing that your hearing has been regained.

Dan (Maury)

Do we get our strength back that was drained from us?

Timothy (DM)

No.

Dan (Maury)

Dammit.

Helen (Iolite)

Do I still get temporary HP? Is that over?

Timothy (DM)

That's a good question. Let me see how long that spell lasts.

Dan (Maury)

I'm still in my Fungus Form.

Timothy (DM)

It's only up to one minute, so no.

Helen (Iolite)

Okay.

Dan (Maury)

I'm still a mushroom person, at least for the next few minutes, just so we're clear. If there's combat again, if not, then it fades away.

Timothy (DM)

Okay. So, everybody give me a Perception check.

Chris (Baleford)

13.

Helen (Iolite)

18.

Dan (Maury)

20. Dirty... [whispers] on the rocks. (Just kidding) [Editor's Note: this is a subtle alcohol joke. "Dirty" means "with olive juice" but also refers to a non-natural 20 modified die roll. "On the rocks" means "over ice", typically used for cocktails]

Timothy (DM)

You all notice that Cyril is rather uneasy. They stand behind you, making sure to place you all between them and the mirrors.

Chris (Baleford)

[plainly] What's the deal with these mirrors?

Timothy (DM)

As you turn to look at the mirrors, you can see yourselves in them with one... distinct... feature... Every one of you (in your reflection) is grinning.

Dan (Maury)

[frowns] I've never made that face before.

Chris (Baleford)

I wave.

Timothy (DM)

They wave back.

Dan (Maury)

In time? Like, at the same time?

Timothy (DM)

Completely identical. They are exact reflections besides the GIANT grin across each and every face.

Dan (Maury)

This is unsettling. I don't like this in the slightest.

Helen (Iolite)

Maury, it's so good to hear your voice again.

Dan (Maury)

Okayyyy, cool, uh...? [laughs]

Timothy (Cyril)

[nervously] "Well, you're welcome??? I think this room is intended for me." Cyril pipes up from behind you.

Dan (Maury)

I'm sorry. What does that mean? "Intended for you"?

Timothy (Cyril)

Do you all remember, uh, what I told you before we left.

Chris (Baleford)

I pull out my notes. [Tim and Dan laugh] It says, uh, "(1) Don't wake up. (2) Don't cut the cord. (3) Don't die. (4) Don't look in the eyes. (5) Don't fall for tricks. and (6) Keep your eyes unfocused and stay sleep."

Timothy (Cyril)

The objective of these trials is to test your resolve in the face of fear. Each one of these rooms is perfectly designed off of one of your fears.

Dan (Maury)

Are you afraid of smiling?

Timothy (Cyril)

This one must be mine.

Helen (Iolite)

Guys! I can clap again. Do you want me to break the mirrors?

Chris (Baleford)

Nooo.

Dan (Maury)

Please don't.

Chris (Baleford)

I still have my candelabra.

Timothy (DM)

[emphatically, but laughing] Oh yes! Please do that, right away! Save yourself from this. [Helen laughs] This is agonizing.

Chris (Baleford)

I take the candelabra that I have, and I start to smash one of the mirrors. [Tim laughs]

Dan (Maury)

Yeah, you took your candelabra.

Timothy (DM)

All right, give me a Strength check.

Chris (Baleford)

Oh baby, that is not good for me. [sadly] That's a 9.

Timothy (DM)

All right. You bashed the candelabra into the mirror, and it teeters on its stand, but nothing happens.

Dan (Maury)

"Here. Let me try." and I reach out for the candelabra.

Chris (Baleford)

I give it over to Maury.

Dan (Maury)

"Thanksss" Oh, but I'm weak now. I'm weak. Oh! Maury's going to cast Lesser Restoration on herself to hopefully clear the sapped strength.

Timothy (DM)

You cast Lesser Restoration... and it has no effect.

Dan (Maury)

Dammit. "Well, great. Great use of my spell slot. Okay, I guess I'm just gonna smash this mirror then." And I take a swing at it!

Timothy (DM)

All right, give me a Strength.

Dan (Maury)

It's a 9.

Timothy (DM)

Again, you whack into it, and you feel the, like, lactic acid fatigue in your arms [Dan: "Ew"] and it again teeters, but nothing happens.

Dan (Maury)

So, the mirrors aren't... they're not, like, attached to walls. They're just standing mirrors?

Timothy (DM)

They're standing mirrors. Yeah. Like full-length--

Helen (Iolite)

But they're heavy? Question mark.

Timothy (DM)

Yeah, they're rather heavy.

Dan (Maury)

I'm gonna try it. I'm gonna cast Gust on it. [Chris laughs]

Chris (Baleford)

[citing the oft-quoted proverb] "Where a candelabra doesn't work; wind."

Dan (Maury)

Yeah, I just blow [*FWWWWWUUHHH*] [Helen laughs] ...heavily.

Timothy (DM)

All right, what are the effects of spell?

Dan (Maury)

It says that one Medium or Small creature that you choose must succeed on a Strenght saving throw or be pushed 5 feet away from you. I'm going to blow at the top of the mirror because "physics" to try and knock it over.

Timothy (DM)

Okay, so you're just aiming at one mirror?

Dan (Maury)

Yes, I can only aim at... 'cause it's small Gust.

Timothy (DM)

They don't have a Strength save because it's an object, but...

Dan (Maury)

It's a Strenght save of 12, so I don't know if that, like...

Timothy (DM)

Oh, okay. So, we'll just have that as the DC. It does not move.

Dan (Maury)

[throws their hat] Dammit.

Timothy (DM)

And that is when Cyril steps out from behind you all, up to one of the mirrors, smiles very sarcastically, and claps. [Helen laughs]

Dan (Maury)

[channeling Samuel L Jackson] Hold on to your butts.

Timothy (DM)

Everyone make a Constitution saving throw.

Dan (Maury)

16.

Helen (Iolite)

17.

Chris (Baleford)

23.

Helen (Iolite)

[in a cool voice] We super constituted.

Timothy (DM)

Alright, everybody with a 13 or above passes, so y'all pass. They shatter.

Helen (Iolite)

[pouting] So, it's fine with THEY do Thunderclap. [Dan laughs]

Dan (Maury)

They didn't really give us the choice. [Helen laughs]

Chris (Baleford)

I think it's a psychological issue here.

Timothy (DM)

And as all of the mirrors shatter around the room, you see appendages reach out from the reflections as they break and crumble apart.

Dan (Maury)

[whispers] Foursome. Just kidding.

Dan (Maury)

[whispers] Yes, they did it really very quick.

Timothy (DM)

--trapped in their broken prison--

Timothy (DM)

--and the floor falls out, and you float down, and you find yourselves in a very tight smallllll room facing each other. Maybe arm's-length away from each other.

Dan (Maury)

This is uncomfortabllllle.

Chris (Baleford)

[discretely to Maury] Did you eat mushrooms recently?

Dan (Maury)

Do you have to ask? Really? Of course I did. Guys...

Timothy (DM)

You hear the sound of Maury's voice, but their lips do not move.

Dan (Maury)

Does... is that only happening for Maury?

Timothy (DM)

And you hear the sound--

Helen (Iolite)

Does... sorry, does everyone hear?

Timothy (DM)

--Bale's voice. Yes, everyone can hear this, and their lips do not move.

Helen (Iolite)

What's happening?

Dan (Maury)

This is incredibly unsettlingggg.

Timothy (DM)

You hear Io's voice, and their lips do not move.

Helen (Iolite)

Okay, I WAS really happy to hear your guy's voices again, but, like, this is getting old really fast. [Tim chuckles]

Chris (Baleford)

Is there any foreseeable exit from this room?

Timothy (DM)

No.

Chris (Baleford)

And it's just us...

Timothy (DM)

It's just the four of us.

Dan (Maury)

[sing-songy] Sounds like it's time for a Thunderclap! Just kidding. [all laugh]

Timothy (DM)

And that is when you all notice in tandem the three mouths of the people you are facing begin to open. Everyone stands agape from your perspective, and you smell the dank rotting odor of dead flesh.

Dan (Maury)

[disgusted] Oooo.

Timothy (DM)

Make a Constitution saving throw.

Dan (Maury)

Can Maury do this with advantage because she literally grows mushrooms and dead things? If not, that's fine. I just figured I would ask.

Dan (Maury)

[momly] No.

Chris (Baleford)

[unsurprised] Natural 1!

Helen (Iolite)

9.

Dan (Maury)

8.

Timothy (Cyril)

[laughs] 7.

Timothy (DM)

The DC to beat? 10. [all "yep" in agreement]

Chris (Baleford)

Gooood.

Helen (Iolite)

We're all about to get toasted.

Timothy (DM)

Everyone is going to take 3d6 necrotic damage... which is 5.

Chris (Baleford)

Oh, that's pretty good.

Dan (Maury)

[astonished] I am still in my Symbiotic Entity somehow.

Timothy (DM)

And roll initiative.

Dan (Maury)

We're fighting our... [Tim laughs] [reaching for the word] I don't know what we're fighting.

Helen (Iolite)

[hand on chin] So, what are we fighting?

Chris (Baleford)

Ourselves.

Dan (Maury)

I rolled a 1!

Chris (Baleford)

I think this is tapping into Baleford's fear.

Timothy (DM)

[giddy] Yes.

Helen (Iolite)

We're each fighting a version of ourselves, or is it just...?

Timothy (DM)

Everybody make me an Insight roll.

Dan (Maury)

Also, yeah, what's everybody's, um...

Helen (Iolite)

I'm just, like, having a hard time picturing.

Timothy (DM)

Yes. This is trippy shit. [laughs]

Helen (Iolite)

15 for Insight.

Chris (Baleford)

11.

Helen (Iolite)

And initiative... 9 for initiative.

Dan (Maury)

16 for Insight.

Chris (Baleford)

7.

Timothy (DM)

Cyril got an 8, and the mystery enemy got a 10. [laughs]

Chris (Baleford)

Man, this is... that, low rolls, but man, the stratification is rough.

Chris (Baleford)

[tallying the initiative on a white board] Why did I write a 2 question mark?

Helen (Iolite)

Fancy question mark.

Timothy (DM)

So, Io, why don't you go? What are you... what are you doing? You rolled what for Insight?

Helen (Iolite)

A 15 for Insight.

Timothy (DM)

15 for Insight. So, your attention is drawn to the movement of the mouth that seemingly contradicts the sounds coming from your party members. [laughs]

Helen (Iolite)

[laughing] Is Io smart enough to know what that means?

Timothy (DM)

It's as if either an illusion is cast on them or something else is replicating or...Yeah, it's really hard to place.

Helen (Iolite)

Is it clear... Like, so we've, we've entered combat now, but is it clear that these things are hostile yet?

Timothy (DM)

Well, you just took necrotic damage from whatever is going on.

Helen (Iolite)

Just... was there, like, a clear source? Or did it... was it... were we all just like "Ow"?

Timothy (DM)

The smell, like, emanates from the mouths of each of your party members.

Helen (Iolite)

Should I try to hit something? [all laugh]

Timothy (DM)

Go for it. It's up to you.

Helen (Iolite)

I-I-I don't...

Dan (Maury)

Question: when we talk, do we see our mouths move? You know, I mean, like, you can, like, feel or see that... you can see, like, like, like, you see your, like, nose or...?

Timothy (DM)

Do you, like, try to, like, pout your lips to see your lips?

Dan (Maury)

Yeah. Like, are other people moving? Like, when Io moves to, like, hit something, do we see her move from her spot?

Timothy (DM)

Yeah, your bodies are moving. Everybody can see, like, you're shifting back and forth. Your bodies are moving, like...

Helen (Iolite)

Only the mouth.

Timothy (DM)

Only the mouths seem to be doing "something" else.

Helen (Iolite)

Okay, well, I'm gonna... I'm sorry. I struggle with this. Um...

Timothy (DM)

That's all right.

Helen (Iolite)

I can flavor one cubic foot of nonliving material for one hour.

Dan (Maury)

[taken aback] Flavor?

Helen (Iolite)

Have you ever read Prestidigitation? [all laugh]

Chris (Baleford)

That's what I'm planning.

Helen (Iolite)

[laughing] Ummmm... I grab the closest... No, 'cause I don't want to hurt my friend.

Timothy (DM)

Yeah, that makes sense.

Helen (Iolite)

I don't want to ,like, cast anything that hurts.

Timothy (DM)

You don't have to attack. There are other options you can do.

Helen (Iolite)

Alright, I'm gonna cast Detect Magic, and obviously there's magic, but it can tell me what school of magic? [Tim: "Mmhm"] Okay, so I do that. What school of magic do I detect?

Dan (Maury)

Astral. [all laugh]

Chris (Baleford)

"Seems like there's magic around."

Dan (Maury)

Astral magic. The idea of magic.

Timothy (DM)

Astral magic, no, um... so... classes of magic: I have to look up real quick. [Dan and Helen laugh]

Dan (Maury)

Necromancy.

Chris (Baleford)

Y'know, it could be that or conjuration.

Timothy (DM)

Oh no, it is necromancy.

Helen (Iolite)

Necromancy, ok.

Timothy (DM)

It's necromancy. I wasn't sure if that was a school or a type.

Helen (Iolite)

Okay.

Timothy (DM)

And it is the... the-the necromancy magic is ON everybody's face, and you can see it on your own face as well.

Helen (Iolite)

Like, I can look down and my nose has an aura?

Timothy (DM)

Yeah.

Helen (Iolite)

Okay. Okay, well, that's my turn: casting Detect Magic. So, now Io is going to contemplate what to do with that information. [Tim laughs]

Timothy (DM)

So, Cyril will place their hand on Baleford's shoulder and cast Guidance. All right. Baleford, you are up,

Chris (Baleford)

Baleford, upon smelling this awful smell, has a sort of thousdand-yard stare as he thinks back to all the years of eating these terrible meals, because of... sort of the impoverished state of being a ropemaker (as part of a rope makers' family) where you don't have a lot of money to spend on food. So, you usually get onions and not-so-great animals. So, he's dreading the times where they would have to go to merchants' houses or to shipyards, and they have to sell, and he's always worried about "Oh, will I smell bad? What if it's gonna ruin this deal? What is--?" and he's just sweating. He's keeping his mouth closed, and he's just worrying, and he's like "Oh no, not this again." but he thinks to the spells that he's been learning and he thinks of Prestidigitation, and he uses it to cast a faint odor of mint. [Tim laughs] And he... I don't know what the effusiveness of the mint smell is, but--

Dan (Maury)

Death and mint.

Chris (Baleford)

He-he smiles to everybody else in the party. He's like, "Don't--" [to Tim] Can they still hear me talk without my mouth moving?

Timothy (DM)

You hear each other talking.

Chris (Baleford)

Just smile! Think of minty thoughts. [Tim laughs]

Helen (Iolite)

[laughing] Minty thoughts.

Timothy (DM)

[laughing] So, you cast Magical Breath Mint [Helen and Dan laugh] [*whphooo*] and you all get this layer of mint on top of decay.

Dan (Maury)

Maury vomits. [*bleck*] [all laugh]

Timothy (DM)

Maury, you're up.

Dan (Maury)

"Oh, great." I'm gonna walk up to Cyril and slap him, but not like a damage slap, just like a normal person slap. If that makes sense.

Timothy (DM)

Alright, you slap Cyril.

Dan (Maury)

Do you feel that?

Timothy (Cyril)

He does. [Tim laughs] [dazedly] "What was that for?"

Dan (Maury)

All right. I just wanted to make sure our heads were real. I--

Timothy (Cyril)

Excuse me?

Dan (Maury)

[nonchalantly] "Just go with it." Can I Spores the room? [Tim and Dan laugh] Does that make sense?

Timothy (DM)

[laughing] What does that entail?

Dan (Maury)

I'm trying to, like... I'm trying to, like... because, like, whatever, whatever it is, is, like, in the air that we're smelling. So, I'm trying to, like, pollute the air in the room with spores, [laughing] but not necessarily... I mean, it could be the damage spores that I create because I don't know how much control I have over that, but I want to try and, like... either mix or, like, dilute the air in the room with spores because spores smell. Like, they get, like, a--

Timothy (DM)

All right. Suuuuure...

Dan (Maury)

So, she, like, hunkers down and out of her, all of the mushrooms growing off or just like [*PFUFPHH*] Spores. [Dan, Helen, Chris start coughing]

Timothy (DM)

The room fills with spores, and everyone starts coughing. [*cough cough cough*]

Dan (Maury)

Did that help? [all laugh/cough]

Timothy (Cyril)

[gasping] Maury, maybe don't do that again. [Dan and Helen laugh]

Dan (Maury)

All right. Well, you never... I just tried something. [laughs] Yeah, guess there's just...

Timothy (DM)

Everyone make another Constitution saving throw.

Dan (Maury)

Oh nooo.

Chris (Baleford)

I feel this is gonna be baaaad.

Dan (Maury)

That is a 17.

Chris (Baleford)

Also 17.

Dan (Maury)

 Twinz!

Timothy (DM)

A 1? [Helen laughs] So, a 10 passes. So, those of you who failed, which is Cyril and Io... [rolls so many dice and makes a face]

Helen (Iolite)

[to Tim] I don't like that face.

Timothy (DM)

--9 points of necrotic damage. [Helen winces]

Dan (Maury)

And do we take any? The passers?

Timothy (DM)

No [Dan: "Thank god"] if you pass, all you experience is the repulsive odor of dead flesh, now masked with a layer of mint and a cloud of spores.

Dan (Maury)

[laughs satisfied] You're welcome.

Timothy (DM)

All right. Io, what are you doin--.

Helen (Iolite)

[interrupting Tim] THUNDERCLAP. [Tim and Dan crack up]

Chris (Baleford)

Nooo! It's not the solution to everything! [directly at Io] You will kill me. [Tim and Dan laugh]

Helen (Iolite)

[laughing] Make a Constitution saving throw.

Dan (Maury)

[baffled] Reallly? [rolls] 10?

Chris (Baleford)

I fail.

Timothy (DM)

[rolls so many frickin' dice]

Helen (Iolite)

Okay, you need a 14.

Dan (Maury)

I failed then.

Helen (Iolite)

And that's 1d6 thunder damage. 4 damage.

Dan (Maury)

I am knocked out of my Spore form. So, your Thunderclap, like, knocks all the mushrooms off of me and I'll be like "Thanksssss."

Helen (Iolite)

[contrite] Sorry, Maury.

Dan (Maury)

She gives you, like, a death glare.

Timothy (DM)

Bale, you take 1 point of thunder damage. Maury, you take 1 point of thunder damage.

Dan (Maury)

More over?

Chris (Baleford)

Additionally?

Timothy (DM)

--that you feel through your face. [laughs]

Helen (Iolite)

That's a cantrip by the way. [laughs]

Dan (Maury)

CANTRIP!? [all laugh] I think I understand.

Timothy (DM)

I hate it!

Helen (Iolite)

Does the entity on MY face take damage? Can you answer that?

Timothy (DM)

It does not. It passed. It's Con save.

Helen (Iolite)

Okay, so I don't feel anything...

Timothy (DM)

Correct. Okay.

Dan (Maury)

Question: how does everybody look?

Chris (Baleford)

[eying Helen] I look very bad. Mostly due to player-on-player attacks. [all laugh]

Helen (Iolite)

Baleford has taken out another sheet of paper and is currently writing his last will and testament.

Timothy (DM)

Yeah, Cyril's also not looking great. [laughs]

Helen (Iolite)

Yeah, I was limping but, like...

Dan (Maury)

But you're doin' okay.

Timothy (DM)

Yeah, this is interestin'. All right, Cyril's turn again. They're no longer standing idly. Up until this point, you've noticed that their actions have been assisting but not interfering (besides the thunderclap)? [Tim, Dan, and Helen laugh]

Dan (Maury)

Such a hateful spell. HOW bad does Cyril look? Like, "is about to collapse"?

Timothy (DM)

Not about to collapse, but also just not-not greatttt.

Dan (Maury)

Then as his turn starts. I'm gonna throw a mushroom in his mouth. I'm gonna Spores him. I'm gonna Spores'm.

Timothy (DM)

You're gonna Spores Cyril?

Dan (Maury)

Yeah, well, like, in the face. [laughing] I'm gonna throw mushrom at his face.

Timothy (DM)

Ohhh, okay. Yeah.

Dan (Maury)

"I am SO sorryyyy." I'm gonna toss a mushroom in his mouth, I guess 'cause it's open, and the thing has to make a Con save.

Timothy (DM)

Does a 21 pass?

Dan (Maury)

Ugh, maybe. [laughs] Flip those numbers and you still pass. [Helen and Dan laugh]

Helen (Iolite)

Could you two just not... They're just not connecting.

Timothy (DM)

And you all hear this, like, layering of whispers start to echo through the chamber, the very small tight-quartered chamber, and they're just, like, dissonant, like, rumbling of whispers... [rolls dice] and you all see that Cyril's face begins to kind of ripple, and then it begins to slide down and slough off, revealing his actual face beneath. Well, now that that's off, this will be much easier, and you can see their mouth moving again alongside their words.

Dan (Maury)

[clearly over it] Yay.

Timothy (DM)

[chipper] Baley, your turn.

Chris (Baleford)

I am utterly confused. So, it's as if we have a mask on? [Tim: "Yes."] And we have to remove pretenses and be our actual selves. You can't just mask things [Tim laughs] with breath mints. So, Baley is going to reach out his hand to Maury, he's going to shake it, and he's gonna say "Hi there! My name is Baley Leywick of Virvial and Sons Cord and Cable. It's a pleasure to meet you. How are you today?"

Dan (Maury)

[looking around her] I have no idea what's going onnnn... [nervous laughter]

Chris (Baleford)

Maury takes a step away from you. [laughs]

Chris (Baleford)

--And hopefully, my emphasis on hard consonents and trying to get over the fact that I have bad breath without explicitly saying it--

Timothy (DM)

So, give me a either Persuasion or Performance check.

Chris (Baleford)

Oh dangit. [because his Charisma is garbage] Okay, well, we'll see how it goes. That's a 17.

Timothy (DM)

A 17. So, you muster your courage, and you approach Maruy, stick out your hand, puff out your chest a little bit. Your midriff pops out [Helen laughs]

Dan (Maury)

[proudly] I do good work.

Chris (Baleford)

I pop it, yeah. [all laugh]

Timothy (DM)

And as you're shaking Maury's hand, who's probably quite begrudgingly--

Dan (Maury)

Trying to pull her hand hand away.

Chris (Baleford)

--preparing another spore...

Dan (Maury)

No. No, please no.

Timothy (DM)

--you feel the entity loosening its grip on your face as the rest of you see Baleford's face sliiiiide and slough off, revealing their true face beneath.

Dan (Maury)

Cool. Raaaad.

Timothy (DM)

Maury.

Dan (Maury)

Maury is going to reach up and touch her face. Does it feel like I'm touching my face?

Dan (Maury)

A film or something.

Timothy (DM)

It feels like your face from your fingers' perspective, but then your face kind of feels like there's like a... like, as if you put a gel or something over your face--

Timothy (DM)

--you're then touching that, so you feel the pressure, but you don't feel the contact of your fingers.

Dan (Maury)

Maury is going to palm her own face and, like, pull from the fingertips and try and tear whatever it is off of her face.

Timothy (DM)

Give me a Strength check.

Dan (Maury)

Can I do Athletics?

Timothy (DM)

Or Athletics.

Dan (Maury)

Thank you, because I have proficiency in that, but I still have to subtract 2 from it which is HEINOUS. [*sigh*] I rolled a nat 1; I don't do it.

Timothy (DM)

You try to pull the parasite from your face, and it begin to latch on tighter.

Dan (Maury)

Ok, then I would like to Spores my face. [laughs]

Timothy (DM)

You take 4 points.

Dan (Maury)

Noooo.

Timothy (DM)

--of slashing damage.

Dan (Maury)

Slashing? "Ick, gross." What is that... like, am I trying to pull that off my face? What is... is that an action? Bonus action?

Timothy (DM)

That's an action.

Dan (Maury)

Then I would like to use my bonus action then to cast Healing Word on myself. On my body, not my face, just so we're clear. That is for 6 points of healing, and the Healing Word of the Day is... Maury goes "Greattttt." [Chris laughs] and I feel better.

Timothy (DM)

[confused] Gray? [Helen laughs]

Dan (Maury)

Great, great. "Greattttttt."

Timothy (DM)

Greatttt. [Dan laughs]

Dan (Maury)

A very exasperated 'great'.

Timothy (DM)

All right. Baleford, make a Constitution saving throw.

Chris (Baleford)

[complaining] Aw, again? That's a 11.

Timothy (DM)

As Maury's face creature attacks...

Dan (Maury)

Whuh, how? [laughs]

Chris (Baleford)

Not this again.

Dan (Maury)

Go ahead. [laughs] Headbutt.

Timothy (DM)

[rolls hella dice] You take 11 necrotic damage.

Chris (Baleford)

I fall to the ground! And I say "That's not very friendly."

Timothy (DM)

Oh, wait, did I make you make a Constitution saving?

Chris (Baleford)

Yeah. Oh, I got 11.

Timothy (DM)

You pass as does Cyril, and you get the repulsive odor of decay, but do not take any damage. Alright, Io, what are you doing?

Helen (Iolite)

Io slaps herself in the face. [Tim and Dan laugh] 18 to hit?

Dan (Maury)

What would Maury do?

Helen (Iolite)

Against myself. Does it also hit the...

Timothy (DM)

How much damage you do?

Helen (Iolite)

3.

Timothy (DM)

3 points damage.

Helen (Iolite)

3 bludgeoning damage.

Timothy (DM)

You take 1 point of bludgeoning damage as it passes on the force to your own face. Cyril! Y'all are not looking great, right?

Dan (Maury)

I look okay, I got a pretty good healed.

Timothy (DM)

[to Chris] And you're looking pretty shitty? [Chris nods] So, Cyril is going to provide you with some heals in the form of a Healing Hand. So, as Cyril presses their hands together, they begin to glow this, like, faint purple aura and then they touch Baleford, and you receive 4 points of your hit points back.

Dan (Maury)

[to Chris] How much better are you looking?

Chris (Baleford)

I'm, like, now at 50% when I used to be at, like, 25%.

Dan (Maury)

 Okay, okay, okay.

Timothy (DM)

All right, Baley.

Chris (Baleford)

My turn again. So, there are two parasites on the floor?

Timothy (DM)

You can't see them. As they drop, they kinda turn invisible maybe?

Helen (Iolite)

Seems like they're neutralized?

Timothy (DM)

You hope!

Helen (Iolite)

Mrmmm. Ok. [nervous laugh]

Chris (Baleford)

Well, there's one out of four left. So, I'm going to try and wrench what I imagine is a mask on Io's face.

Timothy (DM)

All right. [laughs] So, you are going to grab at Io's face. Give me a Strength or Athletics check.

Chris (Baleford)

It's 9.

Timothy (DM)

All right. So, as Bale is trying to rip the face off your face. It starts to lacerate your skin. [Helen screams!]

Chris (Baleford)

I stop.

Timothy (DM)

You cry out in pain and take 3 points of slashing damage. Maury!

Helen (Iolite)

Io is looking pretty deflated.

Dan (Maury)

In spirit or in hit points? [Tim laughs]

Helen (Iolite)

Well, both except for the fake mask smiling soooo... the body language is not promising.

Dan (Maury)

Maury, seeing this, is gonna come up very close to, like, like, almost cheek to cheek, and, like, pull a mushroom out of her cloak and be like, "Shh-shh-shh-shh-shh" [Helen laughs] and forcefeed you a mushroom and be like "This will make you feel betterrrrrr." And I'm gonna cast Cure Wounds on you to heal you for 4 hit points.

Helen (Iolite)

So, just to recap: Io still has this thing on her face, and that's it.

Timothy (DM)

And Maury.

Dan (Maury)

Maury has one as well. And then [to Tim] (I'm not done; I still have a bonus action)... I'll turn to Baley and cast Healing Word on you as a bonus action. "You're doing great or whatever."

Chris (Baleford)

Thank you!

Dan (Maury)

And you get healed for 5.

Timothy (DM)

Noice. Look at you all with teamwork.

Dan (Maury)

You never expected Maury to be a healer. [laughs]

Chris (Baleford)

That's personal growth

Timothy (DM)

[mocingly as Cyril] "You've already passed your challenge" No... Bale, make a Constitution save.

Chris (Baleford)

[whining] Why do I have to keep on doing this? I thought I'd--

Timothy (DM)

Well, 'cause you're facing Maury.

Chris (Baleford)

What, I'm...?

Timothy (DM)

And Cyril is facing Io. [laughs]

Chris (Baleford)

Oh, ok, gotcha. I failed.

Timothy (DM)

Oh no...

Chris (Baleford)

I got a 9.

Timothy (DM)

You take 14 points of necrotic damage.

Chris (Baleford)

[depressed] That is exactly my value, so I drop.

Helen (Iolite)

All right.

Dan (Maury)

Greattttt...

Timothy (DM)

So, Baleford drops unconscious.

Helen (Iolite)

Oh god... gods. Oh entities. [Dan laughs]

Chris (Baleford)

As I fall to the ground,  I say "Be confident in your... your breath! [Tim laughs] I thought that meant something."

Dan (Maury)

What does that even meannn?

Timothy (Cyril)

What? What?

Dan (Maury)

Someone should help him. [realizing the facts] Oh wait: that's probably me.

Timothy (DM)

All right. Io, you're up. [laughs]

Helen (Iolite)

IO SLAPS HERSELF IN THE FACE. [Dan laughs] 7 to hit.

Dan (Maury)

Do you need a roll an attack roll to hit yourself though?

Helen (Iolite)

[laughing] Does that mean that I don't have to take damage 'cause it's under my armor class?

Timothy (DM)

Oh, it's also under its armor class.

Helen (Iolite)

So it does nothing?

Timothy (DM)

It does nothing.

Helen (Iolite)

Greatttt.

Timothy (DM)

You don't commit fully to the slap, and you're just like, "Oh, no."

Helen (Iolite)

It's a glancing blow.

Timothy (DM)

Alright, again, you hear the dissonance of rumbling whispers as Cyril casts Dissonant Whispers.

Dan (Maury)

[*whisper nonsense*] Asparagus, asparagus,.

Timothy (DM)

Asparagus?

Dan (Maury)

Tomatoes, asparagus, carrots. That's what you do in theater to... for, like, fake talking to each other: you just mouth of the words of fruits and vegetables. That makes it look like you're talking and saying full words. Yeah, that's what you learn in theater. You're fake talking.

Timothy (Cyril)

All right, as Io's face sloughs off. "All right, one more to go."

Helen (Iolite)

[observantly] Baley's down.

Timothy (DM)

Baley make a death saving throw.

Chris (Baleford)

Nooo. One failure.

Timothy (DM)

All right. Maury, what you doin'?

Dan (Maury)

Maury is going to kneel down next to Baley, pluck a mushroom from her... from her cloak and put it in his mouth and then, like, hold his mouth shut and pinch his nose. "Just sort of swallow. It'll be great." And I think I'm gonna cast Cure Wounds on you.

Chris (Baleford)

[joylessly] Sorry, I'm the big baby of the group. [Helen laughs]

Dan (Maury)

--to heal you for 10-- that's max. 10 healing.

Chris (Baleford)

Oh, wow.

Helen (Iolite)

[openly] Well, I mean I did hit you twice with Thunderclap. [laughs]

Chris (Baleford)

Yeah, yeah, you did do 8 points of damage, so...

Dan (Maury)

As I, like, choke you. "WAKEE UPPP!" [all laugh]

Helen (Iolite)

You're fine. You're fine.

Dan (Maury)

"Oh, look, you're doing so good." And I give you a pat on the cheek when you wake up.

Chris (Baleford)

[dazed] What? Why am I on the ground?

Dan (Maury)

[laughing] That's all I can do.

Timothy (DM)

Alright...

Dan (Maury)

Can I rub spores on my face? [Helen laughs] Attempt to Spores myself?

Timothy (DM)

You can try to Spores yourself. Yeah.

Dan (Maury)

But, like, on my skin, so I'm not, like, eating it or hurting myself? I don't know how that's gonna work, but what's its Con save?

Timothy (DM)

It... gets... a 10.

Dan (Maury)

YUSS, I do 4 necrotic damage to it.

Timothy (DM)

Alright. You feel its grip loosening on your face.

Dan (Maury)

Do I take any damage from it?

Timothy (DM)

You take 1 point.

Dan (Maury)

Easy peasy. And that's my turn.

Timothy (DM)

Oh, no.

Dan (Maury)

What? And I aim myself towards Cyril. [Tim laughs] I turned towards Cyril.

Timothy (DM)

Yeah, I know, that's why I said "Oh, no."

Chris (Baleford)

[weakly lifting his head off the ground] Cyril, duck!

Dan (Maury)

I aim my... can I aim myself to whoever looks the best? [solving the puzzle] Can I look at a corner? Can I move and face a wall?

Timothy (DM)

You spin around, and you face a corner as you can hear the breath of the parasite, shooting out another--

Dan (Maury)

[to himself] It just bounces back at its face. [laughs]

Timothy (DM)

--putrid breath of decay. Thank you. Alright, Io.

Helen (Iolite)

So, wait. Who has face things left? Only Maury.

Timothy (DM)

Only Maury.

Helen (Iolite)

But Maury's now facing away from us into the corner.

Timothy (DM)

Mm hmm.

Dan (Maury)

That's true.

Helen (Iolite)

Can I, like, spin her around?

Timothy (DM)

You can.

Dan (Maury)

I won't resist it.

Helen (Iolite)

Okay, yeah, I'm gonna slap Maury. [laughs]

Timothy (DM)

Alright, give me an attack.

Chris (Baleford)

This is a lot different than I thought getting over your bad breath fear would be. [all laugh]

Helen (Iolite)

8 to hit?

Dan (Maury)

That misses my armor class.

Timothy (DM)

That is going to miss. Again, you're just not committing to these slaps. [Dan and Helen laugh]

Dan (Maury)

Cyril.

Helen (Iolite)

I have like a little... like, a limp wrist, like, ugh.

Timothy (DM)

So, Cyril is gonna cast Eldritch Blast--

Dan (Maury)

[aghast] On my face?!?

Timothy (Cyril)

On your face. [Dan and Helen laugh]

Chris (Baleford)

[imitating Cyril] "I'm all out of spell levels. I gotta do cantrips now."

Helen (Iolite)

It's really NEAR your face.

Dan (Maury)

Yeah, just graze my face, like...

Timothy (DM)

It's just, like, close to your face.

Chris (Baleford)

Like, what is that, microabrasion something? [all laugh]

Dan (Maury)

Oh yeah, do I have a microabraser on me. I'll just, like, rub my face with the little wheels.

Timothy (DM)

Yay, they hit.

Dan (Maury)

Dermabras-- dermabrasion: is that what it's called?

Timothy (DM)

You are going to take 2 points of force damage.

Dan (Maury)

Owww.

Timothy (DM)

--as your parasitic mask sloughs off.

Dan (Maury)

Thanks, I guess.

Timothy (DM)

All right. And with that, the floor again drops out. As you feel your bodies pulled down through the aether, stretching your perception like a rubber band being pulled into a black hole. You begin to approach a sea of bodies, plain and featureless, standing motionless like lumps of clay. You land on the ground, and your bodies slink back into the original form when you see a look of pure dread on Cyril's face. Following his gaze, you spot the thing causing such alarm. In a space maybe 50 yards off, although difficult to gauge in such an abstract space, a mass of pitch blackness saturates your vision, a chaos of tendrils violently thrashing out and grasping at these featureless forms, pulling them into itself. The blackness grows rapidly around you, an all-consuming darkness envelops you, and then a flash of bright white light. And that's where we will end the session.

Timothy (Narrator)

[in an untraceable accent] Ah, what a cliffhanger. Wouldn't you like to know what happens next? Isn't it just sooooo enticing? That little bit of knowledge being held back, keeping you on the edge with anticipation? Good. Right where I want you.

Timothy (DM)

And that concludes the prologue for Shadows of Prophecy. The webs have been spun, and the Whisper calls. As the world begins to darken a question looms, "What will we do next?"

Timothy (DM)

And that's a wrap. Truly, truly, please stay tuned for updates on season two. We have so much more to share with you all. And thank you for joining us through the darkness. This project has been a joy to work on, and we have so many people to thank. So, let's get to it: Shout out to my brother, known as the chill electronic vapor soul artist LUSQ, for writing our chillingly epic theme song; editing was done by Scrubcast; and I want to give a big shout out to Syrinscape for some amazing atmosphere and music. Make sure to check them out at syrinscape.com. I personally always use them at my game table, and it really does add that little something special that brings your players into the story.

Timothy (DM)

I also want to give a special shout out to Cinderblock Sally, who developed the rogue build used by Tristen, also known as Wren, throughout the season; they are a wonderful content creator on TikTok, and truly a hilarious and super helpful DM.

Finally, I want to thank all of our players. You really made this show. Thank you. Thank you so much. So thank you, Dan. Thank you, Chris. Thank you, Kendrick. Thank you, Ellie. Thank you, Russell. For our listeners, to stay up to date with season two releases, please follow us on Twitter @shadowsprophecy and Instagram @shadows_of_prophecy. And you can show us some support by becoming one of our fabulous patrons at patreon.com/shadowsofprophecy. There, you can get access to bonus content, like handouts, encounter maps, and we've even put out adventure guides that follow the campaign, so you can run your own horrific campaigns, or one-shots. And at the very least, please give us a five star review on your podcast platform of choice. If you're not going to give us a five star review, then maybe don't. [laughs] This is how we get our word out about our podcast. And we really do love sharing it with you all. So, thank you, and tune in with Act One for more tales of dread and despair at Shadows of Prophecy.
