What's Up, Welland?
What’s a sheep’s favorite game to play? Baa-dminton.
Do you remember the carefree days of your youth spent playing outside? Time spent playing street hockey, basketball, home run derby, or whatever games you could imagine with a bat, a ball, or a frisbee? Some of us kept on playing through school teams and organized sports. We were active and these activities instilled important values such as teamwork, camaraderie, and confidence.
Fortunately, in Welland, we have Niagara College right in our backyard. Beyond outstanding academics, it’s a bustling school offering varsity sports, intramurals, and recreation facilities that provide students with countless opportunities to continue their love of active sport. Not only that, and perhaps more importantly, the school is committed to students getting active in the community as preparation for life beyond the classroom.
Michele O'Keefe, director of athletics and student engagement, shares her enthusiasm for sports and community as she discusses the athletic programs at the College. She also highlights the partnerships with the community that aim to inspire and promote physical activity among children of all ages and abilities, encouraging them to give it their best shot – sometimes, literally.
