First-time councillor Sharmila Setaram makes her first appearance on What’s Up, Welland? to tell us about her first motion as Councillor. And the stories don’t stop there. In the first few months of her term, she has taken action to address period poverty and support the city's most vulnerable residents with a temporary emergency shelter during the winter months. As someone who is committed to improving the Welland community and being a compassionate voice on Council, she shares what inspired her to pursue municipal politics, the valuable lessons she has learned thus far, and her ambitious plans for the remainder of her term.
