The Lion Within Us - Leadership for Christian Men
Christian men are in a battle for their lives. Satan will do everything possible to destroy them. The Lion Within Us is a community that provides encouragement to become the leaders God intends us to be. Our main focus lies within three categories: Health (Mental/Physical), Wealth (Careers/Finances) and Self (Husbands/Fathers/Brothers in Christ). By sharpening these areas of our lives, we can find the strength needed to stand firm in our faith and unleash the Lion Within.

Welcome to the Lion Within Us, a podcast serving Christian men who are hungry to be the leaders God intends you to be. I'm your host, chris Granger. Let's jump in. All right, fellas, this is fun. Friday time, let's get into it, okay?
Speaker 1:So the scripture of the week is actually 1 Corinthians, the seventh chapter, the 26th verse. Okay, it says because of the present crisis, I think that it's good for a man to remain as he is. So we unpack that verse at length in the spiritual kickoff episode this week. So right now, go back to in your podcast feed You'll see it right there to SKO. And the whole idea of SKO guys is how do we help you simplify and apply God's word to our life? That's it Very simple. And if you're single and find yourself in a single season of life right now you're not married, haven't never been married you just find yourself, you're not attached. This week has been all about serving you and to help encourage you in this season and recognize this is not a season of life worth wasting. Okay, so that's what we had with Bob Wheatley on our last episode, unpacking his new book Single-Minded. Hopefully you guys are going to just enjoy hearing Bob, his wisdom, his discernment and where he's at right now and again. So, guys, all that stuff we talk about each and every week from the books and all that stuff, thelionwithinus is where you find the resources. And if you like the Spiritual Kickoff, which I know lots of you guys do, I encourage you to go check that out At thelinewithinus. Start your daily spiritual kickoff experience today. It's all free. That's our way of serving All right now.
Speaker 1:So let's get into our tips. For Fun Friday, we do a health, wealth and a self-tip. The health is our mind and our body. How do we strengthen that? The wealth is career and finances. What can we do to be better stewards there? And self-tip is how can we improve ultimately every day as husbands and fathers? Okay, depending on what season of life you're in.
Speaker 1:So for the health tip, this is more of a mental thing. Practice mental stillness every morning. So, before the day starts and you know the demands, they're just going to stack up right. Take some intentional time to really just be still OK. This is. This is not some crazy productivity hack. It's about aligning and making sure our hearts in check with God and his presence. This could be 10 minutes, ok. This could be just where you're just being quiet and praying. Maybe you're journaling through a song, or maybe just sitting quiet with the Bible open in front of you, but the whole idea is to respond to God before you react to the world. Get that. Respond to God before you react to the world, because this world is crazy. It's noisy, it's loud and choosing quiet is a radical position to take, but it teaches you to slow down, teaches your heart to open up, and it teaches us to trust in our spirit, to rest in Christ, for clarity, to reduce your stress and just to be a more resilient guy. That's what it's all about, fellas, because your mind is a battleground and stillness is a daily strategy for peace.
Speaker 1:All right, wealth tip let's get into this one. How about say no to status purchases? Because maybe we've got a lot of single guys that are listening to and you're free because you're single from the financial responsibilities that come with family life. Let's get it. You know, if you didn't have to pay for the diapers and all the other stuff, right, it frees you up. But that freeness freedom rather can easily turn into carelessness. This is where we have to be careful, because the world's going to tell us to spend for status that you got to have the latest gear, the best car, the best truck, the best experience, whatever it may be. But kingdom minded men, invest with purpose, not ego. It's not about our ego. So the great season, if you're single, to build some financial margin, okay, and you do that best. Really a couple of things just avoid the debt traps. Really consider their short term splurges. I'm not telling you don't ever do anything fun, but just be intentional about that. And a great way to do that is just ask yourself would I make this purchase if no one else ever knew about it? Ok. So if we can use this season of life to develop these financial habits that reflect contentment, which is a rare commodity out there, right, it's going to be a big deal for you. So hopefully, guys, as you start thinking through your stewardship, recognize that saying no to status purchases and, by the way, this is not just for single dudes, this is for every guy out there can help you along the way.
Speaker 1:Now for the wealth tip. I mean sorry for the self tip. Rather, prepare for that role as a father before you carry the title, because maybe you're not a husband or a father right now, okay, that doesn't mean you shouldn't train like one, though, because to be the best kind of man who could step into their roles with with strength, humility, wisdom, starts with the actions that you take today. So study scripture like a spiritual leader, serve others like a provider, build emotional intelligence and self-control, because the guy that you are today, you're sowing the seeds into the man that you're going to become tomorrow, and that may include marriage, but it may not. Just don't wait for that season. Lead right now, lead in your church, lead at work, lead with your friendships and your family, because God's kingdom, fellas, advances through faithful men, single and married so. But we have to take that ownership right and really lean into it. So just remember that that faithfulness and singleness is not preparation for significance. It is significant right. So live it with intention, fellas. They're your three tips your health, wealth and self. Again, practice that mental stillness each morning, saying no to status purchases and preparing for the role.
Speaker 1:Before you carry the title. So the book of the week. I don't have a copy here with me. I have a digital copy, but I can't actually hold it up and show you, but it's single-minded. Obviously we want to promote Bob's book. So it's out, it's live right now, bob Wheatley, that's W-H-E-A-T-L-E-Ycom is where you get it at.
Speaker 1:Okay, all right for our dad jokes this week. There you go, fellas. That's it. That's a good little math joke for you. Second one what concert costs 45 cents? Well, it's 50 Cent featuring Nickelback. There you go, fellas. So I got two good ones for you this week. The first one how do you make seven, even Take away the S. And what concert costs just 45 cents? 50 Cent, featuring Nickelback. All right, fellas. So, look, if you got a dad joke you want us to use support at thelinewithinus, send that dad joke over to us and we'll use it. We'll give you a good shout out on the show and just want to thank you for your encouragement, hook you up with some swag and things like that.
Speaker 1:But the question of week this week is really focused on how can we glorify God with everything we have right now? And whether you're in a season of singleness, maybe you're in pre-marriage and you're working through that to get up to that moment of the nuptials, maybe you've been married newlyweds, maybe you've been married for 40, 50 years, wherever that's at, you have an opportunity to glorify God in the season that he has you in right now. So embrace it, right. It's so easy for us as men, just think about the next thing. Well, god has you here right now. Lean into that and do good with that. All right, fellas. So hopefully you found these messages encouraging this week For you.
Speaker 1:Guys that know other single guys send it out, share this stuff out. You're not, you know, it doesn't make it weird. Hey, bro, I know right now you're in this season of life. These guys are talking about it. Thought it may be encouraging to you. That's all you got to do, buddy. That's all you got to do. May be encouraging to you. It's all you got to do, buddy, it's all you got to do. So, guys, come back next week. Yeah, looking forward to hanging out with you.
