291 | Ultimate Guide to Catching Every Trophy Fish Species in Virginia with Mike Minnick
On this exciting episode of Fishing the DMV, I have on Mike Minnick, a Virginia Master Angler V! Now, to put that into perspective, the rank of 'Master Angler' is reserved for those talented individuals who can land trophy-size fish from different species. It’s not easy, but it’s something Mike has excelled at—Master Angler V means he’s caught 25 trophy-size fish from different species! Let me break it down for you: At each level of the Master Angler program, anglers are recognized for their achievements. Starting with Master Angler I, that’s 5 trophy fish from different species, then to ascend in rank you need to catch 5 more for each level—so, Master Angler II means 10 trophy fish, Master Angler III is 15, and it goes all the way up to VI, which requires landing all 30 trophy fish species in the program! It’s no easy feat, and there’s no application—you qualify automatically based on your catches.
So, Mike is sitting at the incredible level of Master Angler V, and I can’t wait to dive into his journey today. We’re going to hear some amazing stories, tips for landing those trophy fish, and maybe get some inspiration for all of us trying to improve our fishing game. So grab your rod, settle in, and let's get started!"
