Why Your Online Business Still Isn’t Making Real Money

If you’ve ever laid in bed at night wondering…

“Should I just go get a real job?”

This episode is for you.

So many entrepreneurs, especially women and moms building online businesses, are working constantly. They’re posting on social media, trying new strategies, launching offers, and doing all the things.

But the money still isn’t where they want it to be.

In this episode, Courtney Davini breaks down one of the biggest reasons online businesses struggle to scale:

Most people don’t actually have a marketing plan.

They have a posting schedule.

Courtney shares what she sees happening behind the scenes with clients, why constantly pivoting can stall your growth, and how today’s trust economy has completely changed how people buy online.

She also explains why building trust now takes 27–40+ touchpoints, why social media alone is not a strategy, and how focusing on one clear system helped her turn a $35 product into a million-dollar business.

In this episode, we talk about:

• Why posting on social media is not the same as having a marketing strategy
• The difference between working in your business and working on your business
• Why pivoting too quickly can confuse your audience and kill momentum
• How comparison to other entrepreneurs can sabotage your progress
• What a trust economy means for online businesses today
• Why building trust now takes 30–40+ touchpoints before someone buys
• The marketing system that helped scale The Hashtag Files to a million-dollar business
• Two key questions to ask if your business isn’t making the money you want

If you feel like you’re working really hard but your online business still isn’t making real money, this episode will help you understand what might actually be missing.

Because chances are…

You don’t need a new idea.

You need a real marketing system.

Hello, hello, hello, and welcome back to the Boss Lady Social.

I’m your host, Courtney Davini, and today we’re talking about why your online business still isn’t making real money.

Let me ask you something.

Have you ever laid in bed at night and thought… should I just get a “real job”?

If you feel like you’re working a lot, posting a lot, trying to grow… but the money still isn’t happening…

This episode is for you.

Most entrepreneurs don’t actually have a marketing plan.

They have ideas. Sometimes amazing ideas.

But ideas alone don’t make money.

You have to work on your business, not just in it.

Working in your business is client work, admin, emails.

Working on your business is strategy, systems, and growth.

And most people skip that part.

Another issue I see all the time is pivoting too quickly.

People launch something, it doesn’t immediately work, and they move on.

But real growth comes from consistency.

I sold one thing for four years. That’s why it worked.

You have to give things time.

Another big one? Comparison.

Especially as a mom, you cannot compare yourself to people with more time, more money, or more support.

It will destroy your confidence and your consistency.

And then there’s this:

We are in a trust economy.

People are overwhelmed with content, ads, and AI.

They are skeptical.

It now takes 27 to 40 touchpoints before someone buys.

Not 6 to 12 like it used to.

That changes everything.

If nothing is selling, ask yourself:

Is this what my ideal client actually wants?
Is my audience aligned with what I’m selling?
Did I create something people actually need?

If you are making some money but can’t scale:

Do you have a real marketing plan?
Or are you just posting and hoping?

Because here’s the truth:

You don’t need a new offer.

You need clarity, focus, strategy, and repetition.

Business grows from refinement, not constant reinvention.

And let me say this clearly:

You are not failing because you’re not working hard enough.

You’re working really freaking hard.

You just haven’t been taught how to build a system that converts.
