Study abroad programs in the United States have been transformed since the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic in March 2020. According to NASFA, higher education institutions in the United States have lost nearly $1 billion due to the shortened or canceled programs. Study abroad programs are important for students as they provide critical competencies and experiences in an ever-expanding global workforce.
