Brittany Barnett of Horse & Hen

Jess Norby Season 5 Episode 11

Brittany was born and raised on a farm in Crozet, Virginia, founded by her great-grandfather, J.T. Henley. She spent her childhood days outdoors in the orchards, riding horses through the fields, and learning from Henley’s avid passion and instruction around wildlife conservation.

His influence inspired Brittany to pursue degrees in both Wildlife Biology and Agriculture. After university, she continued her education for 10 years in Colorado, backpacking through the National Parks of the West.

Brittany’s floral career was introduced first as an unplanned opportunity, and grew to a love for creating artwork utilizing natural elements. Since then, she has been in the industry for 20 years, designing floral decor for events varying from weddings to corporate parties, celebrations, and memorials.

Brittany maintains her environmental awareness and eco-friendly lifestyle in the workplace. She consistently makes a conscious effort to compost, recycle, and avoid plastic products and packaging. With every purchase, a portion of the profits are donated to wildlife rehabilitation efforts through Rockfish Wildlife Sanctuary in Schuyler, Virginia. Horse & Hen combines the gift of natural artistry with eco-conscious methodologies.
