Road To Redemption
Road To Redemption
Travis Kring - A Faith Journey from Pain to Purpose.
What happens when someone truly goes "all in" with God? Travis Kring's return to Road to Redemption unveils the extraordinary transformation that unfolds when complete surrender meets divine grace.
Travis takes us back to that pivotal moment on a West Palm Beach shoreline in April 2021. Having lost his marriage, children, career, and hometown, he stood at life's crossroads facing a divine ultimatum: "Is this flesh day? Is this all about yourself or is this about me?" His decision to fully commit sparked a redemption journey that continues to accelerate with each passing day.
The conversation vibrates with authentic passion as Travis shares how his newfound boldness manifests in unexpected places. What began as two friends praying quietly by a gym water fountain has exploded into a daily gathering of 25+ people openly praying in a secular fitness center. This "ministry field" perfectly illustrates Travis's philosophy of spiritual offense rather than defense: "The devil's on full speed every day to attack us...we want to fight him back with scripture, with passion, putting people together."
Perhaps most powerful is Travis's raw honesty about isolation's dangers and community's healing power. "Isolation is where the devil takes us to die," he shares, contrasting this with the life-giving connections formed in men's groups where vulnerability and accountability flourish. His encounter with Dallas Jenkins (creator of The Chosen) reinforces his core message: listen intently when the Holy Spirit speaks and obey immediately, regardless how small the prompting.
Ready to move from being a fan to a follower of Christ? Travis's testimony offers both inspiration and practical pathways forward. His contagious enthusiasm for scripture reading, church attendance, and small group participation provides a roadmap for anyone seeking the "joy unspeakable" he's discovered through complete surrender to God.

Welcome to Road to Redemption, a show sharing powerful life testimonies, giving hope to those on their own road to redemption.
Speaker 2:Well, welcome. This is John Martin, your host. We're back on Road to Redemption and I'm so excited to have my good friend, travis Kring with me today. Travis brother, how you doing, john? I'm doing so good.
Speaker 3:God's good me today, Travis brother, how you doing? John, I'm doing so good, God's good. Let me tell you I'm very glad to be here and be back in this environment to share where God has taken my life, what he's done in such a mighty way, and also just to let you know how impactful this. I'm so thankful for you because this ministry is so impactful. I get people often stop me and ask me about they heard the road to redemption. They they know what the ministry does. They hear about the testimonies that you do weekly and it's such an impactful ministry so I'm thankful, very grateful, to be a part of it again today.
Speaker 2:Thank you. Well, you were on the show. I was looking back in our records earlier back in January of 2024, and it was one of our best shows, really blessed a lot of people. And you gave your testimony. I think it was with Colby. Give us just an overview of that testimony.
Speaker 3:Yeah, that was awesome. You know that testimony. Yeah, that was awesome because that was the first I spoke at a men's barbecue soon after that, but that was the first time I got to really share passionately with a to kind of an audience or a group, the radical experience that I had gone through with the King. And that was April 6th 2021, when God really got a hold of my heart. It was a.
Speaker 3:There was a clear fork in the road in my life. I was on the beach in West Palm Beach, florida, and I remember it. There was a powerful impression on my heart like, travis, this is your day. What are you going to do? You're going to serve me, you're going to serve yourself. Is this flesh day? Is this all about yourself or is this all about me? And I just decided I had lost everything. So having everything taken from me is humbling. Had lost my marriage, had lost my sons, lost my job, had moved from Nashville, tennessee. So at that moment, god really got a hold of my heart and said let's start over, let's commit, stop being a fan of me and be a follower of me, travis. So that was the day. And then got introduced to Colby, got introduced to you. So in January it was beautiful to kind of share what God had done from April 2021 to January of 2022. That's about an eight, nine month period there what God had done, and then it's so exciting to say and to share what he's done since. Yeah.
Speaker 2:Because I've seen just how on fire you are for God and seeing others just blessed and I mean it comes off of you you can see the presence of God.
Speaker 3:People ask me what do I do? I go to these events for work. People ask me, what do I do? I say, well, I'm in full-time ministry. Oh, so they think I work for a church and I don't. I sell restoration. I sell water damage and fire damage and mold issues for a godly company. But I'm in full-time ministry because I need to be a light, I need to be a vessel 24 hours a day. And how radical. God rescued me from a life of sin, a life of depression, of depth of loss, of suffering, of nothing, to where he has me today. It's become everything that I do.
Speaker 3:We talk about this in our group faith, family fitness, finances. It's a passion. It is a passion to put faith first, to really lead, show people in a real, true, transparent way what God can do in your life. When you decide to commit your life to him, it's challenging because you got to go all in. When you go all in, when you really trust and believe what God can do, radical changes and miracles and a level of peace in your life that truly it talks in scripture about, a peace that surpasses all understanding. That's what happens in your life when you decide to say I trust you with this God, whatever it is, I'm going all in, I'm ready to do it, and then that process begins, and it's been radical, it's been awesome. It's been awesome. I get to connect with guys like you and share this.
Speaker 2:Well, and the reason we do this show is really we want to provide hope and strengthen people's faith, because we live in a fallen, broken world and the times we're in today are particularly hard. Yes, broken world and the times we're in today are particularly hard. I mean with social media, with a lot of depression, suicide, drug addiction. I mean there's a lot of pain out there and you're someone that was in that pain, was really in a bad place, and I see you today. That's why I wanted to really get you on here because, you are just got the joy of the Lord.
Speaker 2:I mean, you have been radically transformed. What can you say to anyone listening that's really in a tough spot, that feels hopeless, you know?
Speaker 3:what can?
Speaker 3:you say to those people that Jesus will always leave the 99 and chase you. That's what I would say. That is what gave me hope and gives me hope. No matter how far we think this is a cool phrase that I learned a while back we can't out-sin God. There's no level of sin that you're in, that I was in where God will still not chase you. He'll leave the 99 and always come after you. He is love. Not only does he love, he is love, he's the definition of love. So if you can believe that he loves you that much, that he will never, ever give up on you and that you're never too far gone, I always want to be for guys and for people that I talk to. I want to be a door of light. I don't want to be a mirror to show them where they were and who they were and what they've done, and remind them of their sin. That sin's gone. We confess that sin. It is gone, it's buried, and it's as far as from the east, as from the west. There's this new door of life that you can experience, and so that's how I want to live a life that demonstrates that, that we are forgiven, we are made new.
Speaker 3:The fruit of the Spirit are so beautiful. The first one's, love, the last one's, self-control, and to me those are the two most important. They're all beautiful in between too Grace, love, compassion, long-suffering, tenderness, goodness, faith All of them in between are beautiful. Love's first and the very last one is self-control, self-discipline. When you commit your life to something greater than yourself, to the King, it helps you to deny your flesh and show you it's so much more than what we think we live in this day to day. And you said it we're tempted, it's tough, it's challenging. We can't, I can't carry this thing by myself. I can't. I've tried, and all it led to was seeking things to help me, seeking things on earth to fulfill that void, to just devastating painful routes of sin. But when we can do that, when you can say, man, he's never going to give up on me, no matter how far I've gone, that's a beautiful feeling. And when you really can just trust and believe that and know that. That's what changed me, john.
Speaker 2:And one of the things I've seen you and several other guys in the small group and stuff doing that I just am so blown away is just being so bold in your faith. I know y'all go up and work out. Talk a little bit about that ministry there.
Speaker 3:That started with a passion for fitness, in a sense of community. So we thought, all right, well, how can we connect with guys? We connect with them in small group, we connect with them in business, we see them at Publix, we see them at church for a few minutes. But how can we really connect with guys to be able to share with them and be transparent and honest and make them feel safe? So we said, hey, let's join the biggest gym around. And Colby and I decided this. And we said, hey, let's join that gym and let's just make it a ministry field, let's just pray about it and see where God takes it. We joined that gym together in January of 2024. Then we just said, hey, let's just meet at 8 am, let's start training. We're passionate about that anyway. Faith, family, fitness, finances it's a passion for us. We said, let's start training, we start training, and then Colby one day said, hey, let's go over here and pray by the water fountain right up front, just two of us. I said let's do it, because we'll say little prayers, a guy will talk to us in the weight room or over by the treadmills and Travis, can you? Yeah, yeah, and we'll put our it. But we went over and started just Colby and I, a couple days in a row 9 am All right, let's set this time 9 am, john.
Speaker 3:That thing grew and grew. People started looking, started watching, started asking. We started getting some looks. It grew we got 20, 25 every. To come on over there to pray and we get some no's. We ask some people in the gym we get some no's. That's okay, hey, we're just going to plant seeds. We love you, we're here for you, the management there supportive. They'll take pictures of it and post it on their social media. I can't tell you how many people have reached out. All we wanted to do was just decide today and we're going to commit today to Him. That thing has grown and grown. People talk about it. It's one way that we just thought you know what? That's an opportunity for us to demonstrate and show publicly what God has done for us. It's great, it's exciting. I look forward to it. I get people text me in Facebook messages hey, what time is the prayer?
Speaker 2:I mean, and that to me that is the church. Yes, yes, I mean, yes, we have the church, you know the building, but it's not supposed to just be on Sunday inside the church building. The church is out in the marketplace, in the gym, marketplace in the gym and it's just so awesome that y'all have been so bold to say you know, let's invite some guys over, and gals too, and let's pray, and then more and more.
Speaker 1:next thing you know, you got 25 people praying. I've heard about it. People told me about it.
Speaker 2:you know that that's going on over there at the gym every day, and I just say that to encourage others to step out and ask somebody if you can pray for them. Do things like this. I mean, it may not be exactly like what y'all are doing at the gym, but God's not calling all of us to do the same thing. Amen.
Speaker 3:Amen. We're all called to different things and I'm really passionate about being on offense. A lot of times the devil wants us to be on defense. He wants to attack. He wants us to react. He wants us to have fear, he wants us to have uncertainty. We want to attack back. I want to get ahead of the game. So we want to be bold about these things and, like you said, whatever the Holy Spirit puts on your heart, if it's on your heart, act, obey immediately. Whatever it is, do it. If it's one conversation, if it's one welcoming comment to somebody, somebody brings something to your attention and you feel like you know what, I got a moment right here to pray with them. Wherever you are, pray with them. I really want us encourage us to be aggressively. Attack what the devil's trying to do, because he's on full speed every darn day to attack us, to destroy us, to take this world to a level of pain and suffering, and we want to fight him back with scripture, with passion, putting people together, fighting him back.
Speaker 3:That scripture I sent out today from Ecclesiastes talks about two are powerful, Two can defend themselves, but three together. Ecclesiastes talks about two are powerful, Two can defend themselves, but three together. Ecclesiastes 4.12,. Three together are a strong, powerful cord that cannot be denied. Every time we got two together, the Holy Spirit's there, so then we got three and that's a powerful, powerful cord. I like to share that and say let's do it, man, and just encourage guys. And it is a process. I haven't always been. You know I'm trying to pick up speed. You know I do, I want to pick up speed. I haven't always been this passionate, but when you see and experience what God can do I was sharing this earlier.
Speaker 3:We were talking about it you can't argue with somebody's testimony. You may not believe it, People may not believe it, but you can't argue with it. That is what God has done in their life. And when we get some of us get together Andrew and Colby and some of us guys, we start talking testimony. It's radical, it's beautiful, so let's share it. Nobody can argue with that. This is what God has done and what he will do for you. I love to be able to say the answer is not easy, but we know the answer. We know the answer to your pain, the answer to your loss, the answer to your suffering. We know the answer is Scripture. The answer is spending time with Jesus, radically being able to say I'm going to change this thing. I'm going to trust you, God, to know that you've got something better for me. And it's a joy unspeakable. And it heals relationships, it changes it all.
Speaker 2:So those are things that I want to just share. You know to be able to say let's do it, let's be on offense, let's not be on defense, amen, wow, this is so good, travis, where folks were visiting with Travis Kring and he is a man on fire for God. Travis, is there anything else that you'd want to share that's on your heart this morning?
Speaker 3:I'll share a quick story. I was in the airport in Nashville with my son, so my son plays EYBL basketball. We travel a lot, so we were coming through Nashville for one of his tournaments. Dallas Jenkins, the creator of the Chosen yes he's walking.
Speaker 3:Luke and I are at a smoothie shop in Nashville airport and Dallas Jenkins comes walking through. I'm like I'm starstruck. So I tap my son Luke. I'm like it's Dallas Jenkins. And Luke's like who's that? I said the Chosen, you've watched some of that shows with me. He's like, oh okay, he's the creator of it. I go over there. Now I'll tell you this too we've just been at these eybl events. So there's nba players there, there's nba scouts. They're college. So in that basketball world there's some heroes, some legends there, and luke later on says you didn't get lit for them the way you got lit for dallas jenkins.
Speaker 2:So I go over there, I said.
Speaker 3:I said I don't want to interrupt you, dallas, but I shook his hand. I said I just want you to know how powerful of a ministry you have and what you're doing across the nation. I'm just across the world. I'm so thankful for your ministry and the chosen series. He said, travis, thank you so much.
Speaker 3:He says I don't hear that very often People don't stop me and talk to me. He said I know we're doing God's work. He said but it's really great to hear it. And I said is there something you can give me to leave with? Is there something that's on your heart? He said well, I will share this with you. He said my focus every day is to listen. I want to listen to what God's telling me. He said I want to be still and I want to listen. And that's really registered with me, john. When the Holy Spirit speaks, when there's this prick on your heart, whatever it is, it could be the smallest little thing to help somebody with a grocery cart at Publix. It could be the smallest thing when the Holy Spirit speaks, to listen and obey. Obedience is greater than any sacrifice. So that resonated with me with Dallas. That's where it started with him. And now look at this massive worldwide ministry that he's doing. So I would encourage people listen and don't fear.
Speaker 2:And humility too. That's one of the things I've really gotten from a lot of people like Dallas and other leaders.
Speaker 3:It's not about them. They don't lead from it being about them. Amen. And humility is such an important word. It's tough to. Humility is not thinking lowly or less of ourselves. It's just thinking of ourselves. Less often, it's still having a confident, powerful view of who God made us to be. You're a mighty man of God. You speak it, you live it. You're a father, you're a provider. You don't have to make compromises. You're a mighty man of God. We need to be able to share that with our guys and with people and let them know. It's just not thinking of yourself first. It's love God and love others before yourself. Have humility, yeah, but be confident in who you are and what God has created you to be and the impact that you can have, because you can have an impact in this world. Everybody can, whatever it might be. Yes, so that's a good one.
Speaker 2:Humility is a good one. Well, as we come to the end of this show, we always like to share our three pillars.
Speaker 2:That we like to leave you with on Road to Redemption. And the first thing is you need to be in the Word of God. That is the most important thing in your walk with God is to be in His Word, in the Bible of God. That is the most important thing in your walk with God is to be in His Word, in the Bible every day. Get up and read the Word. Get a Bible, a hard Bible, if you can. If not, the Bible app. Get on there and you can just start reading it right now.
Speaker 3:It's an awesome two minutes to get going, right when you wake up and it leads to more. You'll want more, but get a powerful word that's what prompted me to start sending that verse to our guys was just hey, this will get us going.
Speaker 2:One verse. One verse.
Speaker 3:That started with four people three and a half years ago, and two of them were my parents. That was it. It was four Now. It's just grown and grown.
Speaker 2:We send it to all the guys and I get the verse from you, and it's such an anointed verse that you send out every day and reading that scripture just God speaks to you through His written word. That's so important. We encourage you just to start reading the Bible today. Just pick it up or open the app and just start reading it, and the next thing is to get into a Christ-centered church and just go. You're never going to find the perfect church. Just go, find a Christ-centered church and just start going every Sunday.
Speaker 3:And go for you, go for your heart, go to be transformed. It's okay to be selfish in that sense because when you go to a powerful word, you hear a powerful word. It transforms your heart, it impacts your heart, which makes you better for all of your people, all of your kids, your business, your wife. It's okay to be selfish because when you're seeking that kingdom, when you want more, the other things will be added. God will do those things in your life. He'll change your life and transform you and go in person.
Speaker 2:Yes, yes, because God calls us to do life together, to assemble, to do it in person. There's just a huge difference in doing it versus church online. Not to say, if you have you're sick or something, it's okay, do it online, but if you can go in person and the last thing is to get into a small group, amen. Get into a group that you can make yourself vulnerable, you can be accountable, you can do life with either other men or other women, or even a couple or marriage group.
Speaker 3:Get into a group. It is vital.
Speaker 2:And go, go to that small group. It also makes me think of I wanted to mention we're doing some of the guys in the church actually are doing a group barbecue are doing a group barbecue and so anyone can come that wants to meet some other men and just get to learn a little bit more about God and really fellowship with other men. Coming up on it's Tuesday, august 19th 2025, here in Santa Rosa Beach, Florida.
Speaker 3:That's at Drive the Coast over off 393, Josh May's spot. Yeah, Drive the Coast.
Speaker 2:It's in Santa Rosa Beach on Highway 393, coming up this Tuesday, the 19th Life-changing.
Speaker 3:It's a men's barbecue, but anyone listening you can just come and show up Food provided we got some guys speaking that will share some testimonies on things God's done in their life. And you know, John, you and I are tight. We know this men's group is the blood in my veins, that is, the relationships, the vulnerability, the transparency, the shared suffering and the shared joys and wins is massive. Isolation is where the devil takes us to die. That's what he wants. He wants people isolated, fearful, depressed, hurt. You get in a community, you share with people what you've done, what you've been through, what you're suffering. It heals, it bonds us together, it strengthens us and it defeats the devil and that makes us the kind of men and the kind of women that we need to be, because there is strength in that. He didn't want us together. I always share that. Every guy I meet business wherever we are. I'm mentioning men's group. I'm mentioning what it'll do. I'm mentioning our church. I'm mentioning men's group because it'll change your life.
Speaker 2:And for the women listening out there well, there's a lot of women's groups too. The women have said when their husband goes to these groups the huge impact they've seen on their marriage on their relationship by their husband starting to go. So we can promise you, these groups are great.
Speaker 3:I'll share a quick story on that real quick. Chris Tomlin, christian singer, awesome dude, all right. So I'm on the beach. Last year in Inlet, just walking to the beach hanging out, random, meet this older couple. We start talking it's Chris Tomlin's dad, all right. So it's Chris Tomlin's parents. So we start talking. Oh, I love his music.
Speaker 3:So Chris Tomlin's dad has a ministry, has a men's ministry. They do backpack trips, they do all these awesome things. Massive ministry, kingdom-built driven. He did it eight or ten years. He's been doing it eight or ten years, I think, if I remember. His wife now has branched off because all of the women wanted to know what in the world is going on with my husband. His heart's changed. He's radically different. Our family is growing to the kingdom. We want that too. So now Chris Tomlin's mom has a ministry, a women's ministry. But, just like you said, when the head of the house, the head of the kingdom and the wife sees that and they're partners in this thing and she sees what God's doing to his heart and his life and their family, she wants it and that's an example that it branched out. Now there's a women's ministry. It's so beautiful.
Speaker 2:One of the last points I want to make here at the end is just that, travis, you are doing what God calls us to do. In the Bible he says to go out and be priest. You know you are doing that. You're doing ministry, like you said, even though you don't do that for your job. You're out there in your marketplace, in your day-to-day just sharing the love of God, and I just so love that you're doing that. Thank you it I just so love that you're doing that. Thank you, it's just contagious and I really just wanted to get you on today so other people could hear from you and know that we can do that too. We can go out and encourage others, and it just strengthens the whole body of believers for us to do that, and you're just such an encouragement. Thank you, my brother.
Speaker 3:Thank you, it's been such a All glory to God, amen. Well, thanks for coming on. Thank you, it's been a great. It means a lot. Great day Been great. I really enjoyed this.
Speaker 2:Travis Kring. Thank you.
Speaker 1:You've been listening to Road to Redemption, sharing powerful life testimonies. Thank you for listening and we'll see you next week on Road to Redemption.
