Cherie Anderson – The Gospel Made Simple: A Call to Share Jesus Boldly

Sometimes we overcomplicate what God intended to be simple. We think we need to know every scripture, have every answer, or be fearless before we can share our faith. But the truth is—God is simply looking for willing hearts.
In this powerful conversation, Valerie Peterson sits down with Cherie Anderson, minister, worship leader, author, and founder of STW Ministries (“Saving the World One Soul at a Time”), to talk about the urgency of evangelism and the simplicity of the Gospel.
Cherie shares how her passion for reaching souls grew from a deep conviction that every believer—not just pastors or evangelists—is called to share the love of Jesus. Through missionary work, outreach ministries, and years of serving alongside her husband Randy, Cherie has witnessed firsthand how one simple act of obedience can change someone’s eternity.
For Cherie, evangelism isn’t about perfection or performance—it’s about love.
She explains how so many people feel unqualified or afraid to share their faith, yet God never asked us to have all the answers. He simply asked us to be available. Whether it’s offering prayer, sharing your testimony, helping someone in need, or opening a spiritual conversation with kindness, God can use ordinary moments to do extraordinary things.
Cherie also shares how her book, The Gospel Made Simple, was inspired by the realization that many people misunderstand why we come to Jesus. Christianity isn’t just about receiving blessings or having an easier life—it’s about reconciliation with God. Jesus came to restore what sin separated and to bring heaven into our everyday lives.
Throughout the conversation, Cherie emphasizes that:
• The Gospel is simple when it’s shared through love.
• Your testimony has power.
• Fear is one of the enemy’s greatest tools to silence believers.
• Obedience matters more than the outcome.
• Every believer is called to be a witness for Christ.
Cherie also speaks about the spiritual hunger she’s seeing today—especially among young people. In a world full of confusion, anxiety, and emptiness, people are searching for something real. And she believes revival is already stirring across the nation as hearts turn back to Jesus.
This conversation is filled with encouragement and practical wisdom for anyone wanting to grow in boldness and faith:
Stay grounded in God’s Word.
Find a Bible-based church and community.
Walk in accountability with other believers.
And most importantly—don’t let fear keep you silent.
You don’t have to be perfect to share Jesus.
You just have to say yes.
What’s one simple way God may be asking you to share His love with someone today?

Welcome And Meet Sherry Anderson
SPEAKER_01Well, welcome. This is Road to Redemption. I'm Valerie Peterson, and we are so grateful that you've joined us today. We have an amazing guest right here in the studio. John Martin and I have been talking about having her on, and she's here. So I would like to welcome Sherry Anderson. Welcome, Sherry. Thank you for having me. So excited. You know, not only do we know each other from ministry, but we're we're friends and we sharpen each other. I so appreciate Sherry. Iron Sisters. We're Iron Sisters. So I want to I want to say a little bit about her because we do have an amazing woman with us. She is a minister, she is a praise and worship leader. She actually has written this book, which is called The Gospel Made Simple. She has her own CD out, music ministry. We have an amazing woman of God here, and she also is the founder. I want to ask her about it, of STW Ministries.
SPEAKER_00Can you tell us about that? Yeah. Yeah. So STW Ministries, basically the STW stands for Saving the World One Soul at a Time. And so that is our objective. Love it. And uh we started this ministry back in 2015, and uh we have done a lot of missionary work and through this ministry, and uh God just continues to expand, you know, our reach and what we're doing.
SPEAKER_01So you've been married for 37 years to an amazing man, Randy Anderson, right? Yep, yep. How many kids, how many grandkids?
SPEAKER_00Yes, we have three kids and three grandkids, and they're all local, so very happy about that. Got my whole family here, in fact. I've lived here since 1980, so I'm I'm practically a native, and uh about my whole family here around me, so I'm thankful, yeah, for that. And to think our greatest ministry, folks, it's really a phenomenal.
Why Evangelism Belongs To Everyone
SPEAKER_01Oh, yeah, that's where it starts. That's where it starts, and look at the impact you're having on your kids and grandkids, right? I I'm sure trying to. That's right. Oh, I'm sure you you do. Can you tell us about like how evangelism has become a passion for you? Where did it start?
SPEAKER_00How did you begin? What well I I really believe as disciples of Jesus Christ, it's it's our obligation to evangelize. It's it's not just certain people, the outgoing ones, the ones that know lots of scripture and and and are passionate, but I really have always felt just that that obligation to share my faith. And back in I think it was 2014, um, the Lord called me to the office of evangelist. So the the only thing that makes me different from anyone else is that, you know, an evangelist is one of the five-fold ministry gifts. And my job is to equip the saints for the work of the ministry. So that is that is how he uses me in addition to just sharing my faith as a believer in Jesus Christ, like we all should. Right. And I really think that that's one of the mindset shifts that we need as believers, is that we're not just only certain people called to share the gospel, you know, the pastor, the evangelist, the, you know, no, it's it's all of our responsibility as witnesses and as ambassadors of Jesus Christ to share our faith everywhere we go. So I'm very passionate about that. And that's one of the reasons that I wrote this book is that this is to equip the saints for the work of the ministry, which is reconciliation, it's to reconcile people back to God. And, you know, I mean, uh, it talks about in in um in Matthew, um, it's no, it's not Matthew, it's Romans, Romans 10, 14. So, how will they know and uh of who they should believe if they've never heard? And if and and how will they hear unless someone is sent and and and that someone preaches to them the word of God, the by the gospel message. So people don't know what they don't know until we share with them. Wow, that's powerful. Would you say you have a favorite scripture verse on evangelism? Oh gosh, there's so many. Um, the one I use a lot is Romans 6.23, which is the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is through Christ Jesus is eternal life. So that's the gospel message right there, is that you know, the thing is, is God desires that all to be saved. He doesn't want to see anyone go to hell. And so that is our responsibility is to make sure that we tell them the truth, that we share truth in love, and that's our motivation is love.
SPEAKER_01Can you talk a little bit? You're director of evangelism at your church, New Life Church. Can you share a little bit like your vision? It just like is amazing what you do to spread the gospel.
Righteousness Over The Happiness Gospel
SPEAKER_00Yeah. So the the way that the Lord has been using us the last three years is um is locally. So my husband and I have done a lot of mission work in Africa and Central America and Haiti. And so I've always felt very called to the nations. But three years ago, um, when we um started New Life Church, they really didn't have an outreach program. And um I had gone to our pastor and and said, listen, we'd love to put our hat in the ring for a position to um to start an outreach program here. And so he graciously said yes. And so we started from there. And so we um now have 12 teams, and one of the several mandates that the Lord gave us when we were starting this ministry was one is that I want you to infiltrate infiltrate government agencies, collaborate with the local agencies that are here, and the other thing was is to reach all demographics. So so often we want to just maybe focus on the poor, but God said, What about the up and out? What about those that maybe look on the outside like they have everything going on for them, but spiritually inside they're dying. And so we are in the jails, we're in the um the juvenile detentions, the senior living homes, we're reaching the at-risk families, um, we're going after the um the doing homeless prevention. Um that we do street evangelism every week. Um, we are doing, we have a prayer tent that we set up on the beaches, especially springtime. That's a great time to go after the young people. And and so we're just reaching all the various demographics in our area because everyone needs to hear the message, you know, of hope and salvation through Jesus Christ.
SPEAKER_01So amazing. You know, I would love for you to share with our listeners just what stirred you. I mean, you said a little bit, but like I know because I've written one.
SPEAKER_00It's it takes time to write a book. Yeah. What stirred you? It does. So, so years ago, do you remember Ray the Master? Yeah. Okay, yeah. So Ray Comfort uh wrote a book called Hell's Best Kept Seek Secret. And when I read this book, it rocked my world because he talks a lot about the fact that we don't come to Christ for happiness's sake, but for righteousness' sake. And so many of us back then were sharing this happiness gospel. Come to Jesus and He's gonna give you a wonderful, beautiful life, and everything's gonna work out okay. Well, that's not the full gospel, it doesn't always turn around just like that. Sometimes people still may go through divorce, sometimes they still may someone may still pass away that they're believing for. Sometimes there's there's things there, there's seeds that we've planted that are we're reaping from. Maybe not good seed I'm talking about, but seeds, things that we've done, and it takes time to then start planting good seeds to turn things around. And so, not necessarily everything, and again, that's not that shouldn't be our motivation. We don't come to Christ, okay, like a sugar daddy, okay, Lord, these are all my needs, and I need you to meet all my needs. No, that's not the reason. We come to Jesus for righteousness' sake because we're separated from God because of our sin. And that's why Jesus Christ had to come, because he had to bridge the gap between man and God, of a way for us to be reconciled back to God, and because of his shed blood, we can then have the remission of sins so that then we can come into God's presence and be re you know reunited with him on this earth, but also then have the assurance of eternity. So even this, you know, so many may get saved because they just want the ticket to heaven. But but really it goes even beyond that. Yeah, Jesus didn't come just to save us to get us to heaven, but he came to be our Lord here on this earth to bring heaven to earth, and that's what he's wanting to do through us as disciples, is to then be an example of heaven on earth to this lost and dying world.
Why The Urgency Feels Real Now
SPEAKER_01So good. You know, as you and Randy travel all over the world, what is it? You just seem like there's a um holy, intentional, now is the time to evangelize. What is it that you're seeing that has made you feel and go in that direction?
SPEAKER_00Well, I, you know, I think people have been saying for years, oh, well, we're in the last days, we're in the last days. No, I really truly believe we're in the last days. And if you really look at all the prophecies that have been fulfilled and you see um the indications that the Bible speaks of, where even like my husband and I were just talking about the other day about these the storms are more intense than they've ever been. Look at Matthew 24. Yes, that actually says that's right there. In in even in the weather, we'll see the signs of the intensity, the birth pains of the Lord's coming is is near. And there's there's a spiritual hunger that I've never seen in people, and especially in these young people. We when we go to the commons every Thursday night and evangelize, these the people that are the most receptive are the young people. They they are so hungry for truth, and they're so searching for something that's real. They're so tired of just the you know, the pretentious world of social media, and they want something that's real. They're not afraid of the supernatural. And so they just want the real authentic Christianity. What does it look like, you know? And and so I'm just seeing this this hunger, and and so this revival that's here. We saw it really stirring last year when Charlie Kirk was was was killed. Yeah, you know, and these revivals that are breaking out in college campuses. And there's an organization now that I just connected with that's called the Jesus Tent Revival. They're now setting up tents all over the country. They'll come in. In fact, we're looking at having a three-day tent revival here in this area. We're either going to have it in the fall of this year or the spring of next year, and they it's turkey. They bring the tents in, they bring in all the stuff. You we just host them, and it's all about, and it's not bringing in a special evangelist, it's not bringing in a key singer or speaker, it's just Jesus. Yeah, we just set the stage for and Holy Spirit shows up and people come with this hunger, and there's going to be baptisms, and it's it's just gonna be phenomenal. But there again, they talk about it as well, no matter where they go around the country. The the attendance is just through the roof.
Keeping The Gospel Simple And Human
SPEAKER_01People excited are hungry for the word of God and for truth. That is so exciting. When you say, Sherry, the gospel is simple. Yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_00What do you mean by that? It really is. And I and I think I think we can make it complicated. Yes, we can make it so complicated. And this is another one of those mindset um changes that we need, is that when we share our faith, it's just a spiritual conversation that we're having with someone. We're not preaching a message, you don't have to know all these scriptures memorized. You're just coming from a place of love, first of all. We're not out beating people over the head with the with the Bible. We're coming, first of all, from a place of love. And when when you combine that with the word, so so so I'll give an example, like with our outreach ministries. So let's say we have a single mom and and her children, and they're on the verge of being evicted, and we come alongside them and say that we're we're here to help you, and we're gonna help you get it into stable housing. We're gonna help you, we've just met a need, right? And now she's more open because we've shown her love to the word of God. So when you combine word and deed, and it is a powerful combination. So we just bring that truth to people. And and so often, too, our our testimony is a great way to share your faith, you know, and to be able to even say someone that maybe you've known for a long time, say, you know, as long as we've known each other, I don't think I've ever shared my testimony with you. Would it be okay if I shared my testimony with you? It's like that opens up the door, it opens up the spiritual conversation. Yes. Then you share that with it with them. And you know, have you ever experienced anything like that before? And so then we're just going from there and just being led by Holy Spirit. He'll do the work. He'll do the work. We just need to make ourselves available and give him our yes. He does the rest, he promises us that, you know, he said, I'll be with you, you know, I'll empower you. I've given you all authority, I've given you all dominion. And so we we're it's not really us anyway.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, we're we're just facilitators, we're just I know you just talk. I was thinking, I think it's in Revelation 12, 11 says, We overcome by the blood of the Lamb and the word of our testimony. There's something, I don't know how you, but when someone shares, I just stirs in me.
Fear, Obedience, And Planting Seeds
SPEAKER_00It's like, hey, he did it for me, but he can do it for me. Yeah, yeah. Because it's real, it's real, it's it's real. You can't say to somebody, no, that didn't really happen. Right, right, right. You know, it's like a testimony, it's powerful because it demonstrates how real God is and how he can work in people's lives and turn things around when we work with him. What would you say to the listener right now that feels unqualified or afraid to share their faith with somebody? Yeah. Deal with this all the time, all the time. And you know, and this is why in the Bible, I I can't remember how many times that the Lord has said, do not fear, do not fear. 365. There you go. Every day, every day we can take that. We do not fear because the thing is, is that fear is the enemy's greatest tool to shut us up. And so in that so often time, fear is not founded in anything that ever really transpires, you know, it's like fear is is is just the fear of the unknown. Right. And what I found is that so often when you say someone, you know, can I pray for you? Very seldom will they say no. No, yeah. Very seldom when I say, you know, can I share, can I share, are you familiar with the gospel message? And they say, No, can I share it with you? I always ask permission, but but the that's what I'm saying is that we're we're fearful of things that really don't happen. Most people are very open because you showed them an interest. Yeah, you showed that you cared about them. And again, if when we come from a place of love, you know, that we're coming from a place that we don't need to fear, we don't need to fear what because I think we need to fear God more than we fear man. It's so good. We have to fear God and and did not disappoint him because he's called us to be a witness.
SPEAKER_01And you know, there's a philosopher by the name of Ralph Waldle Emerson, and he said, Do the thing you fear most, and the fear will leave you. Yes, you know, when you you you're scared, just do it. Just like Joyce Meyer says, just do it anyway, right?
SPEAKER_00Just do it, do it anyway. Yeah, every time you do that, it builds your faith. Yes, because there's always fruit that comes from obedience. Every time I always tell our evangelism teams that go out, say, listen, just God rewards obedience apart from the outcome. Do you hear that? He rewards obedience apart from the outcome. We're so worried about the outcome. No, just walk in obedience. Oh, he'll take care of the outcome. He'll because he's the one who draws anyway. Yeah, he's the one that draws them. We're just looking for the low-hanging fruit, is what I say. When we're going about our day, you don't have to be on the evangelism team, you don't have to be on our team, just as you go about your day, and the Lord just highlights someone to you or quickens you to just that person caught your attack attention, you know, and then you just go to them and you just respond. That act of obedience brings fruit in itself, even if they're not ready, you're still planting a seed. Yeah, you know, if they said on average that someone needs to hear the the gospel message or someone needs to somehow share what Jesus did, like almost like seven times. Yes. Isn't it funny? Seven. Yes. And then the eight is completion, like new life. The number eight represents new life. Isn't that interesting? But again, we're just part of the process. We don't know if we're in the beginning, in the end, in the middle. We all just need to sow seeds, sow seeds, sow seeds. Don't get worried about the outcome.
SPEAKER_01The Lord will take care of that. You and I can sit here and think of the people that sowed seeds in our lives, right? I like look back as you're talking. I'm like, oh my goodness. Aren't you thankful?
SPEAKER_00I'm so grateful. Yeah, you're so thankful for those people. Maybe at the time you were like, I don't want to hear it. I don't want to hear, but still, that seed was planted. Now you look back, and one day someone's gonna come up to you and say, Thank you. Thank you that you loved me enough to tell me the truth.
SPEAKER_01That's it.
Sharing Truth With Family Without Fighting
SPEAKER_00It's so true. It's love. It's we're compelled by love for God and love for people. That's the great the great commandments, right? Is love God with all of our whole, heart, soul, mind, and strength, and love your neighbor as yourself. We're fulfilling those two things when we're sharing our faith. Yeah. I do want to ask. Family's hard. Oh, yeah. Yes. What do you say to the listener that says, uh, I I can evangelize, but not with my family? Yeah. What would you say to them? Well, you can. You can. And I think we have to do it the same way we would anyone else. An act of kindness, an act of kindness opens the heart. So when we come from that place, instead of from a place of, you know, you really shouldn't do that. You shouldn't do that, you know, you know, that's sin. That's you know, it's a whole when we come from that place, we we back people in a corner. We have to be careful that we don't get into debate. Yes, this is not a debate. If it gets to that point, then just back off then. But we're we're just sharing truth and love. And again, we're telling them, you know, I love you too much not to tell you the truth. And you may not be ready to hear this right now, but I really feel like I need to share this with you. And then you just leave it at that. Yeah, and then let God do the work, right? Like that's what I'm saying. God does the work anyway, yeah, you know, but again, we have to be a witness, and that that is very important too. And I think that's what maybe stops a lot of people from witnessing to their family, because their family knows everything about us, right? They know what mistakes we've made, but there, I think that's an opportunity to be able to then humbly what God has done for me, and I want that for you too. And there's such power, there's such power in.
SPEAKER_01I apologize. I'm sorry. I have not been the greatest example. When we say that's I'm sorry, please forgive me.
SPEAKER_00Let's start over.
SPEAKER_01Yes, powerful words, right?
Practical Next Steps, Resources, And Prayer
SPEAKER_00It is because we decrease so he can increase, right? And so it's not about us. This is not about us. This is just being a vessel and just allowing Holy Spirit to flow through us and speak to us.
SPEAKER_01This has been such a powerful show. I just am so grateful that you've been here with us. Thank you. You know, we always love to close out our show by saying three three points. One, get in the word. I want you to anything you want to add to these three, get in the word to find a Bible-based church work. Ever you live, please do find a church. There's something about the corporate anointing, right? Oh, for sure. Showing being together with other believers. Lastly, find accountability accountability. Have people, a small group, people in your life that are going to keep you on the right road. Yeah. Towards eternity. Anything you want to add to that?
SPEAKER_00Oh, I think those are also good. I I I think that's the thing. You know, we've got to have the word in our heart. We've got to have it right there. You know, that's our anchor, you know, is the word of God and standing on that truth, you know. And when we know that word, we're it it compels us to do the right thing, to be the disciples that Jesus Christ has called us to be. Because that's all what you just said, it's about being a disciple. Right. You know, we're we're none of us are beyond accountability. None of us are beyond, you know, having that, those people in our lives to help lead and guide us, you know, through our church, through our through leaders that we trust, you know. They sure need up.
SPEAKER_01That's for sure. If anyone would like to get in touch with you, or how do they order your book or your CD, what would you say?
SPEAKER_00It's on Amazon, yeah. The the the gospel made simple, just look for the red book and uh you'll find this on Amazon. And also, I think, yes, you can find it at Barnes and Noble's. Yeah. And um, and then um the simple gospel. This is basically a gospel presentation. So because I love worship and I love to share the message. Of Christ, this was a way where I was able to bring them both together. I love it. So it's worship and the word, worship and the word, but you're leading somebody through a journey of the salvation message. So it's a good thing to just get for someone, send it to them. They can listen to it and hear the gospel and hear worship as well. So that's that's available on all the uh digital uh streaming sites. Yeah. Awesome music. Let's close out in prayer.
SPEAKER_01Yes, okay. Father God, thank you. Thank you for Sherry. Bless her for blessing us. And I thank you for every single listener today. Father God, may this stir in them to get her book to really pursue you, Father God, in this area of evangelism. Father God, we are at a critical time. As we read Matthew 24, Lord, there's so much there that reminds us we gotta get ready. You gotta get ready for your second coming. And we thank you, Father, for that. Yes, Lord.
SPEAKER_00Yes, Lord. And Father, I just speak to those in the audience that have not made that decision to give their life to you. Lord, I ask that you would open their ears to hear what the Spirit of God is saying in this hour. You give them eyes to see, Lord, how much you love them, that you know them, that you're calling them unto yourself, Lord. I pray that they would surrender their life to you, Lord God, that they would seek you with all their heart, soul, and mind and strength. And Lord, I just thank you, Father, that you're moving in this church, in this region, Lord God, that you're stirring not only in this region, but to everyone that we're speaking to, Lord God, that you would be a witness in your area, that you would be obedient to the call of being a disciple of Jesus Christ, and that boldness and courage would stir within you, and you would feel an urgency for this hour, for that today is the day of salvation. And we thank you, Father, for what you're doing in and through us in Jesus' name. Thank you again for coming on. Thank you, listeners. Yes, thank you.
