Sometimes God asks us to leave behind everything familiar so He can lead us into the purpose we were truly created for.

Comfort.
Security.
Plans.
Even the life we thought we wanted.

In this powerful and inspiring conversation, John Martin sits down with Felix Amwayi to share a testimony of radical surrender, bold faith, and living fully for the Kingdom of God.

Originally from Kenya, Felix had what many people would consider a dream life. He held a respected government job, had financial stability, and was building a secure future. But in the middle of that success, God began speaking to his heart with an unexpected call:

“Go to America.”

At first, Felix resisted. In fact, he didn’t even want to come to America. The culture felt unfamiliar, distant, and uncomfortable to him. But God continued to pursue his heart and eventually gave him a powerful dream that changed everything.

In the dream, Felix saw a woman preparing to take her own life. As he pleaded with her not to do it, he suddenly heard himself say:
“I’m going to resign my job tomorrow.”

The moment he surrendered, the woman lowered the gun.

When Felix woke up, he knew God was calling him to obey.

Leaving behind security, career stability, finances, and everything familiar, Felix stepped out in faith and moved to Florida to attend Bible school—even though he knew almost no one there.

What followed became a testimony of God’s faithfulness.

Felix shares how the Lord provided for him step by step: from housing, friendships, financial provision, and divine connections, to completely transforming his perspective on purpose and evangelism.

While attending Bible school, Felix realized something that changed his life forever:
We were not created to live for ourselves—we were created to make Jesus known.

Since then, he has devoted his life to boldly sharing the Gospel everywhere he goes:
On airplanes.
In airports.
On beaches.
In businesses.
On the streets.
With strangers.
With anyone willing to listen.

Felix passionately explains that many people are simply waiting for someone to notice them, pray for them, and remind them that God loves them. He believes too many believers stay silent because of fear, insecurity, or distraction—while countless people around them are desperate for hope.

One of the most powerful themes in this conversation is surrender.

Felix reminds listeners that true purpose begins when we stop living only for ourselves and start living for what matters eternally. He challenges believers to stop allowing distractions, comfort, and fear to keep them from fulfilling the purpose God created them for.

This conversation is filled with encouragement for anyone wrestling with obedience, fear, uncertainty, or purpose:
God can be trusted.
Obedience opens doors.
And surrender leads to transformation.

Felix encourages listeners to:
Spend daily time with God in His Word.
Get connected to a Christ-centered church.
Surround themselves with healthy Christian community.
And boldly share the love of Jesus wherever they go.

You were created for more than survival.
You were created for purpose.
And your obedience may change someone else’s eternity.

What’s one thing God may be asking you to surrender so you can fully walk in His purpose for your life?

Welcome And Felix’s Calling

SPEAKER_00

Well, hello friends. I'm John. Welcome back to Road to Redemption. And I'm just delighted to be here today with my good friend Felix Amway. Did I get her right? We say the name correctly. Okay. Bless, man. Thank you for being there. On its in person in Miramar Beach, Santa Rosa Beach. Uh been trying to get you over here for a while, so I'm so happy you're here. And we've been planning for a while, and it's a beautiful place.

SPEAKER_01

Just feels good to be here. Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

And it is great having you here in the United States, but but you're from Kenya, right?

SPEAKER_01

Yes. I'm originally from Kenya. Yeah. That's all. It's a new culture. It's beautiful, but I want to share with you how I ended up here. Zero Kenya. Yeah, thank you. Uh so I was a minister back in Kenya, and you know, I was working also for the government, and things were really good, you know. Oh. And then I had visited America for a couple of years, just coming and going back. And I didn't like America, to be honest with you. It was really cold. You know, I used to come during the winter season, and so I never really experienced the summer and all that. And so when I was in Canada, the Lord

The Dream That Forced A Decision

SPEAKER_01

said, I'm sending you to America, and I said, God, I don't want to go there. And so it took me a whole year to surrender and just obey God, you know. But before I could surrender, I had a dream. And in the dream, there was a Caucasian woman who had a gun on her head and she was trying to commit suicide and just shoot herself. And so I tried to talk to the woman enough, like, hey, don't do it, don't do it. And you know, so the first time she tried to she caught the gun and tried to shoot herself, and the gun misfired, you know. And so again, she cocked it and I was like, Don't do it, don't do it. And from nowhere, I just said, I'm gonna resign my job tomorrow. And when I said that, she put the gun down and I woke up from the dream. And I mean that. Right, it was time to resign. And so uh everybody think thought I was crazy, and you know, just went there and I told them, hey, how to go. I said, Hey, do you want a promotion? Is it salary? Is it you know, and they gave me different kinds of offers. Why are you leaving? You're still very young, you have a bright future here, we can do something about it. And uh, I just say, Oh, it's time to go. But deep within myself, it's it's the Lord who had actually told me to come.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, and from what I remember you told me, you had a life in a job in Kenya that you know you were one of those set-for-life jobs with retirement and benefits, and you know, it was the job that everyone would want. Yes. Um it was it was good, it was a good job.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah. A really good job. I was financially stable, you know, and everybody wants to get a job like that. Yeah. And so when the Lord told me to quit my job, I was like, man, I don't really think, okay, the quitting part, I could have done that. But coming to America, I was like, man, what am I going to do in America? You know, it's a very cold, you know, and the people in America with my encounter, they were very different from my culture. They were more closed up, individual kind of lifestyle. And you know, we come from a social background where we're a family, and you know, so that was quite difficult. But finally, I got to surrender, and many years down the line, I'm in America.

SPEAKER_00

I think America needs to be more like Africa, really. We we used to be like that, you know. Um, and I think for many reasons we have become closed, and everybody's just in a super big hurry, and just you know, very um self-driven, uh task-driven. Yeah. Um, so yeah, so so God called you here. What

Landing In Florida With $1,500

SPEAKER_00

what what what what was what was next?

SPEAKER_01

So uh before I left Kenya, the Lord had told me to go to a Bible school. Uh the Bible school was in Florida, and uh it's interesting because my family is in Dallas, Texas. I did not know anybody in Florida, and so before I could leave, I had some savings, and the Lord asked me to begin to give it away. Give it away, give it away. By the time I was coming to America, I had $5,000 with me. And so I get to Florida and the Lord asked me to keep on giving it away. So I remained with $1,500. And so I still remember getting to the airport, then I felt the weight of the world on my shoulders, and my intellect kicked in and my senses, and I was like, Man, you've done a big mistake, man. Can still go back and get your job. How are you gonna survive in America? How are you gonna work? And I could hear the voices of everybody. My family was like, Why don't you go to a Bible school down here in you know Texas? Why don't you stay with us? Why? You know, this is America, it's different, and you know. So when I was in the airport, I just got scanned and I was like, Man, what am I gonna do? And then the Lord just gave me an idea because I didn't even have an Uber up on my phone. So the Lord gave me an idea and said, you know, you want to book a hotel that has taxi airport pickup. And so when I was looking on that, I was able to go, like, okay, let me find a taxi. And so it began there. Ended up in a hotel, slept the first night, and then the second night, the Lord said, Hey, tell them you're checking out. But in my heart, I was like, Where am I checking out? Where am I gonna go? And you know, so that same day, the first day when I checked into the hotel, in the afternoon I ended up going to the church where the Bible was, you know, and uh I had a conversation with a young man, and he was like, Hey, don't go. Uh, there's an evening service. And so in the evening service, I stayed for the evening service, and they say, Hey, say hi to your neighbor, and I said hi to my neighbor. And then now the following day, when I left the hotel and went back to you know the church and school, Bible school, uh, there was orientation and church service. Then afterwards, the person who was sitting right in front of me, who had said hi to yesterday, saw me and they were like, Hey, how are you doing? And I was like, I'm fine, what are you up to? And so I said, Well, I live in a hotel, and you know, I'm going back to the hotel, but I'm looking for somewhere to live and just start. And he said, Hey, come and live with me. And in my head, I was like, Um, he wants my kid. You know, this is too big. That's hilarious. Yeah, but but the Lord used him powerfully to just set me up in the beginning, and then the Lord just networked me with many different people, and looking back, I can say he has been amazing. When you obey God, uh, God will never really give you a blueprint most of the times. But when you obey God, God will always surprise you. It's humility plus obedience will bring you to an end that God just wants you to get to. Yeah. And so, man, uh Florida was amazing, Bible school was amazing. God fully provided for me in in massive ways, you know.

SPEAKER_00

Was that the the Jesus image?

SPEAKER_01

No, no, go. That was the Reaver Bible school. Reva, okay. No, that was in Caribbean. Okay. Then my friends went to Jesus image. Yeah, so we'd go there sometimes.

SPEAKER_00

Okay. Cool. Um, wow. So you so so so you you had a friend, you moved in, he gave you a place to stay, and what what was next for you, Felix?

SPEAKER_01

Introduced me to their parents, and guess what? The friend that I met in Florida, their original home was in Dallas, 30 minutes away from my family's home. Wow. Can you can you believe that? And so God is just interesting. So, anyways, I got I I went to Bible school and in the Bible school, I caught a new perspective

Bible School And A New Urgency

SPEAKER_01

of life. There was such an urgency pertaining to making Jesus known and pertaining to purpose. And so I just began to ask myself the difficult questions. Have I really been leaving for God? And have I really been, you know, telling people about Jesus? And so in the Bible school, they dealt with a lot of excuses because uh you can say, you know what, I'm shy, I'm not an evangelist, I don't speak fluently, uh, I don't have the money, I don't have this, but God has given you help and amount, and so that just radically transformed me at all. Like, you know what? I'm gonna raise people for Jesus, I'm gonna set people on fire everywhere I go, and I made a promise that I would tell people about Jesus every day. And so from that time I've been telling people about Jesus on the planes, in the airports, in there, and man, I've I've experienced beautiful encounters. Uh let me just share one of their I was coming down from Birmingham and I was coming back to Dallas from a conference, a Triumph of Hope conference, and I saw this beautiful lady, and I was like, Hey, is it okay if I can just pray with you and tell you about Jesus? And she just began crying. She said, Nobody has ever prayed for me. And I said, Wow. So I got to pray for her. I told her about Jesus and she got born again. So it's interesting how much you're going to encounter and how much you're going to transform people's lives if we can come out of our comfort zone. What if you stop thinking about what the response of the second party will be and just do your part? John 3.16. For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten son, that whosoever shall believe in him shall not perish but have everlasting life. And John 3.17 says, For God did not come to condemn the world, but to save the world. What if we stop judging everybody and just tell them the good news? How God loves them, you know, and so that has been my purpose from that time on to make Jesus known. And I have seen thousands transformed in the streets, in the airports, in hotels, in business places, in high network places.

SPEAKER_00

Well, I don't I was been just so blown away with you since you've been here with us in Florida. Everywhere we've gone, I mean, you were just engaging people out in the marketplace and just walking up to them with a big smile, with the lighter pieces, and just asking if you can pray for them. And most everyone, everyone has said yes, and everyone has been so blessed, and just you, you know, it's made such an impact on them. Yeah. And it made me think a lot, why are we not doing that more here as Western as America's? We all kind of walking around

Bold Prayer In Everyday Places

SPEAKER_00

really with our phones just glued right here, not connecting, not interacting. And why are we not doing what you're doing? It it's it's a great example. I mean, it's it's teaching me a lot just to see you. I mean, you don't really hardly let anybody pass by that you're gonna try to pray with them. And that is just I've been just so blown away. It's remarkable.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, I think uh when the agency marks your heart, you realize that you might not be here tomorrow. And they might not be here tomorrow. Uh let me use this here last pressure. I don't know if they can see this. Can they see this three things here?

SPEAKER_00

If you turn it turn it around.

SPEAKER_01

Okay, let me let me just say this, okay, with my hand. So this is a lost person heading to hell, and this is you right here. You're the one who's stopping them. Okay, and the enemy is calling them this side, right? And so if you don't stop them, the enemy is gonna win and get them. So, how many people have you been standing between daily? What if you could stop five people every day? What if you could stop two people every day? And it doesn't have to be, you know, it's not something you practice, it's a realization, a revelation that comes into your heart, and then you're like, no, I'm not gonna allow my city to go to hell, I will not allow schools to go to hell, I will not allow businessmen to go to hell because the Bible says, what is the purpose of gaining all wealth and then lose your soul? You know, and so we have so many people losing their souls every single day, and it's behorious, we're not able to be bold and just to talk to them. And so every person I meet, I set them on fire. I tell them, hey, could you just begin to tell people about Jesus? And you saw when we were walking yesterday, it's just when you break the fear of men and you just go to people, you realize how much they need that. They're like, Man, could you pray for me? I need prayer, I need this, but you can know that if you don't stay up.

SPEAKER_00

Well, there's two ladies on the beach that you prayed for. I mean, they were just like, we I could tell they were impacted by your prayers. They were just like, Wow, like this doesn't happen every day, you know. They were just really blessed. So I, you know, you're really being obedient. That's what what I see, you've stepped out of obedience.

SPEAKER_01

Obedience and so in there. Yeah. The wadi salende. Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

Um, well, Felix, this has been great. Uh as we're coming towards the end of our talk, yeah. Um, is there anything that the Lord's put on your heart to share for it with any of our our our listeners?

SPEAKER_01

Oh, sir. It's

Breaking Fear With Eternal Perspective

SPEAKER_01

beautiful that she should he should have asked that end. I want to talk about surrender. The word is surrender. Um what if we could leave for the purpose for which we were formed? You know. Um, so imagine if you saw someone with a laptop on the streets, you know, making phone calls. A laptop can actually make a phone call. But that's not the purpose for which it was mainly formed. Imagine if you saw someone with a phone, okay? And yes, a phone is for communication and all that. But what if you just saw them just music all the time and they use their phone for storage and music, you know. That's what's happened to so many people. They have been distracted from the real purpose to which they were formed. And God is calling us back to surrender, to pay attention to that which matters the most. Jesus, the Bible in the book of 2 Corinthians, chapter 5, verse 15, says, He died so that those who live might no longer live for themselves. Jesus was not made for us. We were made for him. Everything that was made was made for him. Isaiah 66, verse 2 says the same thing. And so if I could tell people, I would say this pay attention to that which matters the most. A story is told of uh an old man who was praying next to a young man and he kept on repenting for how he'd lived his life and he was wailing and shouting at the young man got so distracted and tired, and he moved away. And he said, God, would you help me to pay attention to that which matters the most? So that at the end of my life I will not regret. And so, my desire for everybody is to count the cost, surrender, and pay attention to that which matters the most. We're going to stand before Jesus. You're not an owner, you're just

Surrender And Living For Purpose

SPEAKER_01

a manager, and you're going to account for how you lived your life, the relationships God gave you, the resources God gave you, the gifts that God gave you, and you will not have any excuse. What would happen if you began to live your life for the purpose for which you are actually created? So pay attention to that which matters the most.

SPEAKER_00

As you were saying that, I think too, just um uh uh really spending time with God. Um, yeah, a lot of us in our busy world here, especially in the West, we're we're trying to do all our accomplishments and we do a lot of serving and hey, giving money to our church and other places and these things, but I think a lot of times the God's saying, I want your time. You know, you're you're spending maybe one minute with me a day. You know, you're getting up in all these tasks, and you're you're getting to those tasks, and then you're you're putting me, you're putting God at the bottom. You're not giving him that time. I feel like he really wants our time and developing that personal relationship with him. And as we say on this show, uh, our three key pillars is the way we do that is getting into the word of God. Yep, get into the Bible, spend time with the Lord every morning. Just get up, read this Bible, um, preferably a hard Bible, if not your your Bible apps on your phone, but but spend time with the Lord in the morning. He wants your time, he wants your attention, uh, and then uh get into a Christ-centered, Bible-believing Christian church. Yeah. And go. You're not ever gonna find the perfect church. We're we're you know, we're flawed humans, but go, make sure to go to one though that's teaching the truth of the word, uh, not a watered-down gospel. Um, and then and then get into a a small group though. You know, get

Bible, Church, And Real Community

SPEAKER_00

into a group, a help community that can actually help you. Yeah, that's what we say, you know, on the show. But um, well, this has been great. Is there anything else before we go?

SPEAKER_01

Before we go, uh, if you're out there and you do not know Jesus, I want to give you this wonderful opportunity to re to receive him in your heart. And I want to say this the cross was not just about your sin, it was about your value. Jesus died so that you could live for your real purpose, your value. You could be out there, and it doesn't matter what you have done, if you can believe in him and receive him right now, it's going to transform your life. So just repeat it from me. Say, Dear Lord Jesus, come into my heart, forgive me of my sin, wash me and cleanse me. Jesus, I believe that you died and you rose, and you're coming back again for me.

Prayer To Receive Jesus

SPEAKER_01

Fill me with your Holy Spirit and cleanse me completely, God. Give me a passion for the things of God. In Jesus' mighty name, I am born again. Amen. God bless you.

SPEAKER_00

Amen. That's awesome. And get in and you that's what's so great is uh you can uh give your life to Christ as you just did right now. You don't have to wait to do that. No. Uh you know, you just say those words that Felix just shared.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

But then God doesn't want you to do this alone either. You know, uh, we gotta have community. So, you know, get into the Bible, get into a you know, a good church, good good group of people, men and women that can come around you, you know, and strengthen you. So um, wow, this has been so great. Um thank you so much. Yeah. Yeah, you're such a blessing. We need to, I think, bring so much of what we have you have in Africa and Kenya, nations. Kenya's a beautiful place. Yeah. And I love how y'all dress up over there too. They really, you know, respect people dress nice over there. And here in the US, everybody's just like, you know, t shirts, flip flops. It's like so. Thank you, Felix.

SPEAKER_01

God bless you.
