We're into the Pacific Northwest of the US for this episode with Seattle-based artists, GRAYMATTER and Avenue. These two share label ties with me, being part of Sub 49 Collective, a bass house label out of Seattle which GRAYMATTER the label manager of. GRAYMATTER himself is a DJ at heart, with a background of open-format DJing turned to audio engineering, as he recently graduated with a master's degree at Berklee College of Music. That being said, this episode is packed with knowledge that any music producer could learn a thing or two from. Avenue on the other hand is a producer melding bass house production with his love of tech house, resulting in a rhythmic style while maintaining his aggressive basslines. He has feature releases on several labels including Boat House, Ghetto Ghetto, From The Hood, and (of course) Sub 49. There's a lot of history in this one between the artists as well as about the city's premiere bass house record label!
