Patty C [0:00 - 0:19]: Foreign What's. Everybody.

Mike Ham [0:19 - 0:36]: Welcome back to another episode of Greetings for the Garden State, powered by the New Jersey Lottery. I'm your host, Mike Ham. We are here at the home studio again, radio Garden State hq. One corner of the spaghetti triangle, which I could explain what the spaghetti triangle is to you if you want, but we're here with the great Patty C. Pat. Welcome to the show.

Patty C [0:36 - 0:38]: Hey. Hey, thanks for having me.

Mike Ham [0:38 - 0:54]: Absolutely. So also, we'll just talk about it right out of the gate because we're both holding it and drinking it. Oh, yeah, we got shout out to Twin Lights Brewing for this cool Spreading Love American Light Lager, which is your beer. That's. That's pretty cool.

Patty C [0:54 - 0:57]: Appreciate it, man. Yes, it's pretty delicious, I must say.

Mike Ham [0:57 - 0:58]: I would agree with that.

Patty C [0:58 - 0:58]: Cheers, man.

Mike Ham [0:58 - 1:00]: Yeah, cheers. Welcome to my home.

Patty C [1:00 - 1:02]: Thank you for having me, man.

Mike Ham [1:02 - 1:13]: Yeah. So, like, can we talk about. Well, let's just talk about, like, that process. Did you ever think getting into music that someone would be like, hey, let's do a beer just for you? It's gonna be pretty cool?

Patty C [1:13 - 1:24]: Yeah. I never would have thought that, you know, when I was like, if. If I was talking to my younger self and he. He knew that I was gonna have a beer one day, he would be very hyped, man.

Mike Ham [1:24 - 1:24]: Yeah.

Patty C [1:24 - 1:25]: Yeah.

Mike Ham [1:25 - 1:28]: And so you told me that. So Twinlights approached you.

Patty C [1:28 - 1:29]: Yeah.

Mike Ham [1:29 - 1:32]: And what'd they say? They're like, hey, you want a beer?

Patty C [1:33 - 1:48]: Pretty much. So, yeah. Mike reached out and he said that he was brewing up a new beer, you know, an American Light Lager. Just so happened that I had a new single coming out called Spreading Love, and it's just kind of happened like that.

Mike Ham [1:48 - 1:54]: Yeah, that's cool. And it just, you know, it's the kind of beer that you drink right, like, right in the pocket.

Patty C [1:54 - 1:56]: Oh, 100%.

Mike Ham [1:56 - 1:56]: Yeah, it's.

Patty C [1:56 - 1:58]: It's really right up my alley, man.

Mike Ham [1:58 - 2:47]: Yeah. So I've been listening to some Patty C stuff now, I feel like, for a little while. Hey, Mama, great tune. Chrissy loves that one, too. And, like, so. But then we never really. We connected a couple times, like, here and there, but never, like, kind of face to face. And then I saw you at the Wonder Bar that one night. Yeah. Was it like, Hunter Root was the headliner, but Jackson Pines was so. Shout out to Jackson Pines as well. I actually had my Blackies Welding sweatshirt on. And, yeah. Like, when we were talking and I made this comment on your YouTube video of spreading love, and I was like, all the songs that I hear you play and I don't know if this makes any sense, but it's like, it sounds like your best friend wrote a song and you're like, wow, Like, I didn't know my best friend could do this. Like, that's the vibe that I get when I listen to your music.

Patty C [2:47 - 3:00]: I take that very much as a compliment. I saw that comment and, man, and I was like, dude, yes. You know what I mean? Like, I hope more people feel that way, you know what I mean? Because that's. That's how I want people to feel when they listen to my music. For sure.

Mike Ham [3:00 - 3:07]: Totally. So, all right, let's do a little background on Patty C. So you're from Jersey originally?

Patty C [3:07 - 3:07]: Yeah.

Mike Ham [3:07 - 3:12]: Okay, so where from? What was early life for Patty? Like, yes.

Patty C [3:12 - 3:18]: So I grew up in Leonardo, New Jersey, which is part of Middletown, Monmouth County.

Mike Ham [3:18 - 3:20]: I've literally never heard of Leonardo, New Jersey.

Patty C [3:20 - 3:23]: Yeah. So it's actually right next to Atlantic Islands.

Mike Ham [3:23 - 3:23]: Okay.

Patty C [3:23 - 3:26]: So it basically goes. So there's the Bay Shore.

Mike Ham [3:26 - 3:27]: Yeah.

Patty C [3:27 - 3:37]: And you might know it. You might know Leonardo from the movie Clerks with Kevin Smith. Yeah, yeah, yeah. So a Quick Stop was right up the street from where I live, and that's where they filmed all those Clerks movies.

Mike Ham [3:37 - 3:39]: Wow. I didn't even know that. Yeah, yeah.

Patty C [3:39 - 4:00]: So, yeah. So grew up there, went to middle school right up the street, ended up going to Middletown South. That's where all my brothers went to. And there's actually two high schools in that area. There's Middletown south and Middletown North. And a lot of my friends were going to Middletown north, but all my brothers went to south, so they told me that they would.

Mike Ham [4:00 - 4:01]: How many brothers do you have beat.

Patty C [4:01 - 4:02]: Me up if I didn't go? Basically, yeah.

Mike Ham [4:02 - 4:03]: Yeah.

Patty C [4:03 - 4:06]: So I have four brothers and one sister.

Mike Ham [4:06 - 4:09]: Okay. So good old fashioned Irish American family.

Patty C [4:09 - 4:11]: Big time. Big time.

Mike Ham [4:11 - 4:12]: So, all right, so Middletown South.

Patty C [4:13 - 4:13]: Yeah.

Mike Ham [4:13 - 4:21]: And then is music a part of your life early on, family members into music. Like, how did that start to creep into your. Into your life?

Patty C [4:21 - 4:50]: Yeah. So ever since I was very young, I always loved listening to music. Even, like, I can. I don't really remember it, but like back to when I was like three, four years old, always, like listening to whatever CD was in the CD player, like in sync and stuff like that stuff, you know what I mean? That used to hype me up when I was really young. But as I got a little bit older, I think, you know, my parents definitely had a big influence because they, you know, like my mom and my dad liked Bruce Springsteen a lot.

Mike Ham [4:50 - 4:50]: Sure.

Patty C [4:50 - 4:54]: My stepdad was into A lot of classic rock, like the Rolling Stones.

Mike Ham [4:54 - 4:54]: Okay.

Patty C [4:54 - 4:56]: So, like, they're one of my favorite bands, actually.

Mike Ham [4:56 - 4:56]: Yeah.

Patty C [4:56 - 5:04]: Yeah. Lynyrd Skynyrd as well, that kind of music. So, you know, I think they had a big inspiration on me, for sure.

Mike Ham [5:04 - 5:28]: Yeah. And then when do you start? Cause, like, I. I listen to music. I listen to music all the time, and I started a radio station because I like listening to music, but I. I can't play an instrument. You know, Like, I don't know how. But when do you start playing music and then start to kind of go down that road of, like, you know, picking up an instrument, writing songs? Like, when does that kind of come into play in. In your trajectory of life?

Patty C [5:28 - 6:09]: Yeah. So that started when I was in high school. So basically, I was given a bass guitar by one of my stepbrothers when I was in, like, fifth grade. So I guess I liked music back then, since he was giving me a guitar. But I didn't pick it back up until I was in high school. One of my good friends, Timmy B, he was, you know, playing guitar, and I was like, dude, I have a bass. Like, we should jam. So we started jamming. And then, you know, after bass, I started playing the guitar and started, like, writing my own songs just from. You know, just from, like, my. My. My own experiences and whatnot. And, yeah, I. So I'd say it started in high school, and then once I graduated, I started taking it a little more seriously.

Mike Ham [6:09 - 6:13]: Yeah. Would you, like. Did you go to college?

Patty C [6:13 - 6:14]: No.

Mike Ham [6:14 - 6:14]: Okay.

Patty C [6:14 - 6:16]: So I went to one semester at.

Mike Ham [6:16 - 6:19]: Brookdale Community College, and I was like, not for me.

Patty C [6:19 - 6:19]: Yeah.

Mike Ham [6:19 - 6:36]: Okay. So at this point in your life, so you're at a high school, you're like, obviously, life comes at you fast. So did you, like, have an idea of, like, what you wanted to do in life was like, let's chase this music thing for a while. So how old are you?

Patty C [6:36 - 6:37]: 27.

Mike Ham [6:37 - 6:55]: Okay. All right. So still young. I mean, like, I'm 34. It feels. I wish I was 27, but. So, you know, take me through that, like, trying to make music a career. Was that ever, like, on the table? I mean, it kind of is, I feel like, to a degree, but early on, was that kind of something you were thinking?

Patty C [6:55 - 7:41]: So going back to high school, towards the end of my senior year, I started playing shows with a band that I was in, and we would play these shows at this place called the Brighton Bar in Long Branch, which is no longer there, but used to have some cool shows there. But when I Was in high school, we used to get our whole senior class to come out and come see us play, which so once I did that, we had the place packed. I was like, oh, this is so cool. You know what I mean? And I don't, I really don't know like what made me want to just keep doing it and like, you know, you know, pursue it professionally. But I think I just loved it so much and there, there, there wasn't anything else like that I enjoyed doing as much as that.

Mike Ham [7:41 - 7:43]: Yeah. It just like your love.

Patty C [7:43 - 7:43]: Yep.

Mike Ham [7:43 - 7:58]: Yeah. And that's been the last few artists that we've had on the show, like Emerson, Maddie Carlock. Some people like that. Like, that's, that's the thing that they talk about. It's just like, they just love it, you know? And like, why not try?

Patty C [7:58 - 7:59]: Exactly.

Mike Ham [7:59 - 8:00]: You know what I mean?

Patty C [8:00 - 8:01]: 100%.

Mike Ham [8:01 - 8:10]: So when you're playing in this high school band and you're at the Brighton bar and all these other places. Yeah. Are you doing mostly, like, cover songs? You're playing like, original stuff at that point?

Patty C [8:10 - 8:14]: Good question. Yeah, no, it was a much more covers back then for sure.

Mike Ham [8:14 - 8:15]: Like, what are you covering?

Patty C [8:15 - 8:23]: Back then we were doing a little bit of like Guns N Roses. What else? We were doing Iron Man. Yeah. Classic.

Mike Ham [8:23 - 8:23]: Yeah.

Patty C [8:23 - 8:31]: But totally, like, like a lot of cliche kind of stuff. Like Guns N Roses. We were doing songs by like, Simple Plan.

Mike Ham [8:31 - 8:32]: Okay.

Patty C [8:32 - 8:41]: That kind of stuff. A little bit of Rolling Stones. Just because I always liked the Stone. So I was like Beast of Burden was like one of the tunes. You know what I mean? Yeah. That kind of stuff.

Mike Ham [8:41 - 8:51]: Yeah. And then at what point do you start to kinda shift from the covers to original stuff? So, like, your first original song was released when?

Patty C [8:52 - 8:56]: So that was 2019, which was hey Mama.

Mike Ham [8:56 - 8:58]: Okay. Oh, so that was your first one.

Patty C [8:58 - 8:58]: Yeah.

Mike Ham [8:58 - 9:05]: Coming out hot. I love it. So what's the timeframe in between, like, hey Mama and the COVID band stuff.

Patty C [9:05 - 9:08]: Yeah. So I graduated in 2015.

Mike Ham [9:08 - 9:09]: Okay.

Patty C [9:09 - 9:19]: Came out in 2019. So during that time I think I was like writing. You know what I mean? Like, writing, going through stuff. Like weird time period after high school, kind of trying to figure out my life.

Mike Ham [9:19 - 9:19]: Yeah.

Patty C [9:19 - 9:28]: And. Yeah. So but, you know, probably like four years or so. And like, that wasn't the only song I had, but that was the one that, you know, like a lot of people really liked and connected to.

Mike Ham [9:28 - 9:36]: Sure. And then is that like the moment you just be like, this may be we can do this. You know, I think kind of like the moment I feel like right, 100%.

Patty C [9:36 - 9:57]: Yeah. You know, just cuz it totally, you know. And something really cool about that tune is that, you know, it made me feel good, but it made a lot of other people feel good where there's so many people reaching out to me saying like, hey, I listened to this song and like, hadn't talked to my mom in a while. Talked to my mom and like just reaching out to me on that kind of stuff. And I was like, that feels really good.

Mike Ham [9:57 - 10:35]: That hits home for sure. Even with me right now. So yeah, yeah. So like all right. Hey Mama comes out and do you always. Is it just Patty C. I know Patty C and the Pints. I love that. Patty C and the Pints, like the Wishbones. The Pints. I love like when people have, you know, great band group names. But so at that point. So you release hey Mama and then take me through kind of like you get those, that positive feedback and then you're like, all right, I want to chase this a little bit more. So like then take us through kind of like the timeline for the next original music that you released.

Patty C [10:35 - 10:59]: Yeah, so. So I released hey Mama under Patty C. That's actually what all my music you can find under like if you just type in Patty C. Like that's what's going to come up is, you know, all my music. But when I play live and like the band who records it is Patty C and the Pints. At least like more recently back then we used to call it Patty C and Friends. That's kind of what it was for a while.

Mike Ham [10:59 - 11:01]: Yeah. Why? Like I said, your best friend.

Patty C [11:01 - 11:02]: Like that's what it was.

Mike Ham [11:02 - 11:03]: Yeah.

Patty C [11:03 - 11:36]: So yeah, so we turned it into Patty's Seeing the Pints. And so since I already had like a Spotify page that was like, you know, had all this music on it. Like I'm not really sure, I maybe can look into it but you know, like all the guys in my bank accredited for it. The Pints, Quick Shout out, Cranston Dean on the drums, Tim Any on the keys, Ty Brick on the bass, Lee Fairjean on the guitar. So you know, I always make sure even though it says just Patty C like they're getting those credits and like, you know, recognition for that stuff.

Mike Ham [11:36 - 11:37]: Yeah.

Patty C [11:37 - 11:48]: But yeah, so I released that tune in 2019 and then I released a couple more singles all with Telegraph Hill Records is the first. Like, you know, they helped me out when I was first releasing that kind of music.

Mike Ham [11:49 - 11:49]: Yeah.

Patty C [11:49 - 12:01]: So I released, I think it was three singles and then I did an EP with them. I forget exactly when. Maybe 2021 or 2022. It was an EP called I Ain't Never Gonna Stop, which is like six songs.

Mike Ham [12:01 - 12:01]: Yep.

Patty C [12:02 - 12:19]: Hey Mama was included on there as well. So we did that. And then following that, in 2023, we did our Patty C and the Pints debut album called A New Day Starts, which we recorded up in. In Owl's Head, Maine, with my buddy, Mike Young.

Mike Ham [12:19 - 12:20]: Sure.

Patty C [12:20 - 12:34]: The boy. He produced it and recorded it. And. Yeah, so that's kind of the timeline. It's just, you know, started with Telegraph. We did the ep and then I kind of segued into working with these guys up in Maine.

Mike Ham [12:34 - 12:34]: And.

Patty C [12:34 - 12:45]: Yeah, now for this, these most recent tunes, like Spreading Love, I recorded that in. In Cranford at this studio called Sonoma Beach Studio.

Mike Ham [12:45 - 12:46]: Okay.

Patty C [12:46 - 12:55]: With a gentleman named Joey Papa. Great guy. Shout Out. Joey, you're the man who also records a lot of. A lot of the Mercury Brothers tunes.

Mike Ham [12:55 - 12:56]: Okay. I like the Mercury Brothers a lot.

Patty C [12:56 - 13:03]: Yeah. Like, you know, like, I love the way all their stuff is produced. And so happy with how Spreading Love's been sounding too.

Mike Ham [13:03 - 13:50]: Yeah. Can we also talk about, like, you mentioned some names in there, like Cranston and some of the guys in the band and some of the guys that produced the music that you've been putting out over the last few years. Can we talk about just, like, the scene for, like, a little bit? Like, you mentioned Telegraph Hill. They're near and dear to our hearts here because on the station they have Sunday nights. They do Telegraph Hill Radio for us on Radio Garden State. So shout out to them 7 to 9pm and so can we talk about maybe, like, people that have been important in kind of this journey of music for you that are local, that, you know, have really either given you a shot on something. You know, obviously we've mentioned some of those before, but even just like, you know, you mentioned the guys just kind of helping put the record together or the EP together or whatever and kind of putting music out.

Patty C [13:50 - 14:05]: Yeah. So I think I. You know, the music scene over, you know, Jersey Shore, like, Monmouth county, like, you know, that Asbury park, all that stuff. Like, there's so many influences. For sure. I actually made a. There's a Scan and Jam on the can of this beer.

Mike Ham [14:05 - 14:08]: We'll hold it up. Yeah, we'll do it closer to the thing. Yeah, yeah.

Patty C [14:08 - 14:33]: So Scan and Jam. So I kind of put this playlist together along with Twin Lights Brewery. But a lot of the musicians and bands that you could find on this playlist are definitely ones that I can really like first off. And two, I just like kind of look up to in certain ways and that kind of stuff. But something with like the music scene I think is really cool. Is aside from Pattison the Pints, like I play in three other projects as well.

Mike Ham [14:34 - 14:34]: Yeah.

Patty C [14:34 - 14:37]: And we're all friends. Like if you don't mind, I'll list them off real quick.

Mike Ham [14:37 - 14:37]: Go for it.

Patty C [14:37 - 14:43]: So we got Patty Z in the Pints. We have another band called End Delirium. Okay. Not sure if you've heard them before or not.

Mike Ham [14:43 - 14:44]: I don't think so.

Patty C [14:44 - 15:00]: Maybe we have a. We put out our first album in the beginning of 2024 titled End Delirium. It's a self titled album. Dan App is in that band. Murphy Brothers, My buddy Jay or my cousin Jay. Squid and Tim. Yeah, Squid. He's a sick drummer.

Mike Ham [15:00 - 15:01]: Yeah.

Patty C [15:01 - 15:08]: And also Tim any on the bass. So he. He's also in the Pints. He's kind of double dipping. It's kind of what we do, you know, we all play with each other.

Mike Ham [15:08 - 15:08]: Yeah.

Patty C [15:08 - 15:32]: Yeah. Aside from that. I. We play in a. I'm in a project called Daily Rituals with Kev Daly and his girlfriend Heather. So we. A lot of times we play trio where she's on the fiddle, Kev's on guitar, I'm on guitar. Sometimes we do full band where I'll play the bass, cran will play the drums, do like a full band thing. And then I also play in Cranston's band as the bass player in that. And like throw down harmonies too.

Mike Ham [15:32 - 15:33]: Yeah.

Patty C [15:33 - 16:00]: So like we've such like a close knit. Like it almost feels like a family dude. Like for real, man. Like I've been, been. Been hanging out with those guys since you started taking the music seriously. And I look up to all of them, but aside from them, like just so many different music like bands in the music scene. Ryan Gregg is someone that I really like and look up to. I really love his new music that he put. Yeah, I look too Jackson Pines. You know, all those guys, man.

Mike Ham [16:00 - 16:17]: Yeah. Playing in all those bands. Does it give you kind of like. I mean essentially what I'm kind of gathering or what I would assume is that it's like a chance to kind of play different kinds of stuff and maybe kind of expand your horizons a little bit?

Patty C [16:17 - 16:18]: Definitely.

Mike Ham [16:18 - 16:19]: Yeah. Yeah, yeah.

Patty C [16:20 - 16:51]: So that's what's really cool. It's like, like let's say I'm writing music by myself. I'll write a song and I'm like Oh, this is End Delirium song. So I bring this song to End Delirium. Same thing with the pine. Same thing with daily rituals. Yeah, that's just like the way it goes. You know, I, you know, find different vices in playing with these guys where it's like, you know, inspiration just strikes in different areas and it can't always just be in one spot. Yeah. It's just so nice. And it also keeps me really busy too.

Mike Ham [16:51 - 16:51]: Sure.

Patty C [16:51 - 16:54]: You know, like you have to create. Yeah.

Mike Ham [16:54 - 17:18]: You know, so you don't fall. Because I mean a lot of people that you've just mentioned, like, I know some of them, I know some of them personally. I've heard of some of them too. And they're all like creative people for sure. And like they're constantly putting stuff out or trying things and whatever. And it's like, you know, not that it's pressure, but it's just like you wanna, like when you're around other creative people, like your brain becomes a little bit more fertile.

Patty C [17:18 - 17:20]: 100%, you know, like it just kind.

Mike Ham [17:20 - 17:22]: Of puts you in that mode like all the time.

Patty C [17:22 - 17:32]: Yeah. And like, kind of just for instance, like this past week because I'm playing tomorrow night, February 28th. I'm over at Old Village Pub in Middletown. You ever been there by any chance?

Mike Ham [17:32 - 17:33]: I have not.

Patty C [17:33 - 17:42]: So it's a. It's a pub right in off 35 in Middletown and it's like one of the only bars in Middletown that I feel like does live music. Like I said, I'm from there.

Mike Ham [17:42 - 17:42]: Sure.

Patty C [17:42 - 17:51]: So like it's really cool. Like I've played there a couple times, but we'll be playing there tomorrow night and you know, just. Just stoked for it, man.

Mike Ham [17:51 - 17:51]: Yeah.

Patty C [17:51 - 18:08]: Oh, where, where I was going with that is that I've been doing a lot of practice this week so like, you know, practice with the pints and then meeting up with the guys from Endelirium. Because we also are recording new music. So we are working on new artwork and trying to get things moving for that and just staying busy, man.

Mike Ham [18:08 - 18:44]: Yeah. The Mayo Performing Arts center is the heart of arts and Entertainment in Morristown, New Jersey. MPAC presents over 200 events annually and is home to an innovative children's arts education program. To see Impact's upcoming schedule of world class concerts, stand up comedy, family shows and more, head to mayoarts.org or just click the link in our show notes. And so this is going to come out. This episode of the podcast is going to come out not next week, but the week After I believe so, the song. Because you mentioned February 28th, which is tomorrow, at the time of this recording, you have another song that's coming out y tomorrow, which will be out by the time the podcast comes out. So talk about that song.

Patty C [18:44 - 18:45]: Yeah.

Mike Ham [18:45 - 18:45]: Yeah.

Patty C [18:45 - 18:48]: So the title of the song is Jam Under Rock.

Mike Ham [18:48 - 18:49]: Okay.

Patty C [18:49 - 18:56]: And it's. It's kind of like my take on reggae because almost like some of my tunes end up kind of coming out like, reggae.

Mike Ham [18:56 - 18:56]: Yeah.

Patty C [18:57 - 19:21]: And it kind of tells a story of being lost in the desert, trying to find your way and. Yeah. So that releases tomorrow. We got some. It's sounding really good. I'm so excited about it. And during the gig, tomorrow it'll be released. So, like, we start at 9 and the tune drops at 11. So we're going to play the tune and, like, get everyone hyped. You know what I mean?

Mike Ham [19:21 - 19:24]: That's so cool. I love that. That's perfect. Perfect timing.

Patty C [19:24 - 19:25]: Exactly.

Mike Ham [19:25 - 19:54]: So when you're releasing all this music and. And you're playing with different bands and all that kind of stuff, and obviously there's a lot of good people involved in that. Like, has music taken you places where, like, you get on stage or you do something and you're just like, holy, I can't believe I'm playing Fill in the blank spot. Like, you mentioned a couple already that are kind of places that you grew up near or whatever, but has there been a moment where you're just like, I can't believe I'm on this stage, or, I can't believe I'm doing this?

Patty C [19:54 - 20:26]: Yeah, I think it's definitely happened a couple times. So. Like, just a couple. For instance, there's this skate festival I play at. It's a skate and music festival over in Cape Henlopen, Delaware, which is right in Lewes, Delaware. You go down to Cape May, literally, and take the ferry right across. You're at the spot. Yeah. So that's always been really cool just because, like. Like I said before, like, my younger self would be like, that's so cool you're doing that. You know what I mean? Like, skateboarding and music. Like, I really, like, I don't really skate, but I appreciate it.

Mike Ham [20:26 - 20:26]: Sure.

Patty C [20:26 - 20:27]: You know what I mean?

Mike Ham [20:27 - 20:30]: Yeah. You look like you could be a skate guy.

Patty C [20:30 - 20:31]: I could vibe with it.

Mike Ham [20:31 - 20:31]: You could.

Patty C [20:31 - 20:33]: Like, I can cruise. You know what I mean? But I just.

Mike Ham [20:33 - 20:34]: You got the vans.

Patty C [20:34 - 20:36]: I just don't have the hops, man.

Mike Ham [20:36 - 20:40]: Yeah, I just don't have the hops. I like to stay on the ground.

Patty C [20:40 - 20:40]: Yeah.

Mike Ham [20:40 - 20:41]: Yeah, me too.

Patty C [20:42 - 20:54]: So that, like, it's just very cool because, you know, meeting all these new people. And then another instance, I think, was a couple years ago, we played at the Asbury Lanes a couple times.

Mike Ham [20:54 - 20:54]: Yeah.

Patty C [20:54 - 21:01]: But there was one gig in particular. I forget which one it was, but I was playing with Cranston Dean Band playing the bass. And, like, we just had so many people out there.

Mike Ham [21:01 - 21:01]: Yeah.

Patty C [21:01 - 21:19]: They have such a sweet green room there as well. Like, you know, backstage there, it just feels like, so legit. And I think that was what. And also, like, all of our friends bands were like, you know, it was Mercury Brothers and whoever else was on the bill. So we're all just hanging backstage and, like, it's really cool feeling.

Mike Ham [21:19 - 21:27]: Yeah, that's so cool. And it just, like. It's crazy, you know, you just find something that you. That you love and you put, you know, effort into it.

Patty C [21:27 - 21:27]: Yeah.

Mike Ham [21:27 - 21:46]: And it's just crazy, like, the return that you get. Maybe not right away, but, like, eventually, like, if you stick to it and all that kind of stuff, it kind of starts to come back for sure. I know you said off mic we wanted to talk a little bit about. So music, obviously a big part of your life, but day to day, Turning Point.

Patty C [21:46 - 21:46]: Yeah.

Mike Ham [21:46 - 21:47]: You wanna talk about that?

Patty C [21:47 - 22:03]: Yeah, man. All right, so. So that's my day gig. I work over at Turning Point a little silver. You could catch me staying up late, but waking up early, making it to those shifts, man, and serving the tables, man. So, you know, I always have coffee freshly brewed, ready to go.

Mike Ham [22:03 - 22:03]: I love that.

Patty C [22:04 - 22:10]: Yeah. So, you know, if you're ever in town, like, after a drinking, you want to come see me, I'll be at Turning Point in the morning. It's a really cool.

Mike Ham [22:10 - 22:13]: Possibly drinking with you and then, you know.

Patty C [22:13 - 22:14]: Yeah, hopefully.

Mike Ham [22:14 - 22:18]: And then have to show up and, you know, I could just sit there and, you know.

Patty C [22:18 - 22:42]: Yeah, yeah. You know, it makes my day better because I see the. You know, I'm like, oh, it. It feels good. Like, a lot of times we'll have a night where we're out, and then a couple of my friends, like, while we're drinking, they're like, dude, we're gonna come see you tomorrow at Turning Point. And I'm like, all right, man. Like, yeah, but no, it's always a good feeling. So that's just a little bit more about me as I work as a server. I've been working in restaurants, like, since I graduated high school.

Mike Ham [22:42 - 22:42]: Okay.

Patty C [22:42 - 22:51]: And it's a good. You know, it helps me continue the music thing because Especially for Turning Point. It's just breakfast and lunch. So I'm out by 4:00. Yeah.

Mike Ham [22:51 - 22:52]: And you got the.

Patty C [22:52 - 22:58]: Keeps the night open. Yeah, Sometimes I just gotta wake up early, bite the bullet. But, you know, it's been, it's been treating me good.

Mike Ham [22:58 - 23:02]: A little hair of the dog and just like get back out there 100%, man.

Patty C [23:02 - 23:09]: I'm a big iced latte guy. So, like, I like espresso. So I wake up, do ice iced latte, and I'm moving, man.

Mike Ham [23:09 - 23:18]: We started just doing. We have like the little silver, like not little silver, but like that little espresso pot thing. Oh, yeah, like the old school kind.

Patty C [23:19 - 23:19]: Oh, really?

Mike Ham [23:19 - 23:24]: And I was watching this video. This is off topic big time. But we're talking about espresso.

Patty C [23:24 - 23:26]: So Chrissy, it's a big part of my life.

Mike Ham [23:26 - 24:12]: Okay. All right, so then we're into it. So Chrissy a lot. Like today, for example, like, she has to go into the Bronx sometimes for work. So she leaves at like 6 o'clock in the morning. I'll make some espresso. The night before, she'll put it. I'll put it in the fridge so it cools down. And then she'll put that in her coffee to take with her. So we were doing like just regular like Cafe Bustello straight up in the thing. And then I was watching this Instagram thing and this guy, Christian Petrone, if you're like in the food world, you know who Christian Petroni is, but he's like a famous, like celebrity chef kind of deal. And he was making tiramisu with espresso. But when he was making the espresso, like, he did the same kind of pot that we have, but he put the espresso in and then he put like a little sugar, like granulated sugar on the top so that it comes out like a little bit sweeter. It kills the bite a little bit.

Patty C [24:12 - 24:13]: Yeah, for sure, for sure.

Mike Ham [24:13 - 24:18]: It's now become. I really didn't drink espresso and now I do.

Patty C [24:18 - 24:19]: So, like, that's the way you do it?

Mike Ham [24:19 - 24:20]: That's the way we do it.

Patty C [24:20 - 24:20]: Wow.

Mike Ham [24:20 - 24:29]: And it's like a little like single serve thing. So if I'm home alone, I'll make one and have that. She'll put that in her coffee, like, so there's a little. If you want to, you know, try something different.

Patty C [24:30 - 24:34]: Yeah, I might do that. When I get to work, I'll put it on the menu, man.

Mike Ham [24:34 - 24:39]: Yeah, right. And call it yes. I don't have a Beer so I could have an espresso, you know?

Patty C [24:39 - 24:42]: Yeah. Radio Garden State Espresso. That's sick.

Mike Ham [24:44 - 24:54]: Okay, so what's like next. I know you have the song coming out tomorrow which will be released by the time this podcast episode comes out, but you look a lot of stuff coming for sure, right?

Patty C [24:54 - 24:54]: Yep.

Mike Ham [24:54 - 24:55]: Yeah.

Patty C [24:55 - 25:15]: So aside from the tune that releases tomorrow. So basically the two singles that I've released so far spread in Love and then this upcoming one, they're all going to be a part of an EP called Happy Camper EP, which will be released in April. We're doing a EP release show at the Pickle April 25th with the Mercury Brothers.

Mike Ham [25:15 - 25:16]: Cool.

Patty C [25:16 - 25:46]: Patty C. And the Pines. Mercury Brothers. So we have those two songs. I'm going to release another single in March called Wet Ciders which is about growing up in Leonardo on the wet side of Highway 36 over there. So we have those three singles. Then April comes. We're gonna do a. Yeah. EP release at the Pickle. Also something I'd like to mention is April 4th, me, my. My band and Cranston's band, we're gonna be playing over at the Smod Castle Cinemas in Atlantic. Yeah.

Mike Ham [25:46 - 25:46]: Yeah.

Patty C [25:46 - 25:55]: You know, a newer. Newer movie theater. And we're gonna be playing there like selling tickets and stuff. April 4th. So I would love it if some people came out to that.

Mike Ham [25:55 - 26:00]: We're trying to get the ball. I've been wanting to go to Smod Castle for a while. That's Kevin Smith's spot.

Patty C [26:00 - 26:01]: Yeah.

Mike Ham [26:01 - 26:11]: And. And I've secretly been wanting to get Kevin Smith in the show for forever. But just like it's just a cool place. And I love like what they're doing with indie theaters and like all that kind of stuff.

Patty C [26:11 - 26:12]: It is really cool, man.

Mike Ham [26:12 - 26:15]: So I'm going to definitely mark that one down. And I love Cranston so.

Patty C [26:15 - 26:16]: Right.

Mike Ham [26:16 - 26:17]: Wfku.

Patty C [26:17 - 26:17]: Yeah.

Mike Ham [26:17 - 26:24]: You know, Wednesday nights. Love. It will be six right now at seven, but will be six o'clock on Radio Garden State.

Patty C [26:24 - 26:24]: So good.

Mike Ham [26:24 - 26:25]: Yeah, it's the best.

Patty C [26:26 - 26:32]: Yeah. So that's really what's coming up, man. Like, you know, there's going to be stuff all throughout the year, but that's more like upcoming stuff.

Mike Ham [26:32 - 26:40]: You know, it's funny. Like I was looking at this can and like the dog with the hat on. Baseball themes and stuff.

Patty C [26:40 - 26:40]: Yeah.

Mike Ham [26:41 - 26:56]: This is like pretty much the. What's the. The vibe or like the artwork really that kind of goes across a lot of Patty C. Yes. Music, like the COVID art, all that kind of stuff is this you drawing this?

Patty C [26:56 - 26:57]: No, it is not.

Mike Ham [26:57 - 26:58]: Okay. That would be dope if it was.

Patty C [26:58 - 27:19]: No, but it's one of my best buddies, Zach Cavallusi. Shout out. Love you, man. Thank you for all the artwork you do. So, yeah, Zach, he. You know, we basically have been doing artwork together since I started releasing music. So anytime I release music, I hit him up. He makes the art. So basically, the dog. Patty Dog is what. What he's called, and, you know, it's like.

Mike Ham [27:19 - 27:20]: You're a mascot.

Patty C [27:20 - 27:30]: Yeah, yeah, pretty much. So we've. Yeah. So he. He put this together. This. So this was the single cover for Spreading Love.

Mike Ham [27:30 - 27:30]: Yeah.

Patty C [27:30 - 27:42]: And then Mike hit me up from Twin Lights. Was like, yo, dude, like, let's get some artwork for it. So I hit up Zach and. Yeah, so it's like a collab. Collab. Also, if you check out the. The.

Mike Ham [27:42 - 27:44]: Yeah, like the captain.

Patty C [27:44 - 27:53]: Yeah. So quick, funny story about this. Me and my buddies, we go to. We go to Berryville, New York, Delaware Water Gap.

Mike Ham [27:53 - 27:54]: Okay.

Patty C [27:54 - 28:27]: And it's. It's basically camping. That's. That's where we go camping every year. Like, once a year, me and this whole friend group of bros go out camping. And so this is the captain of Port Jervis, or as we say, Port Jervy, which is a character that came about because one of my buddies didn't have a ride to camping, and he took the train to Port Jervis, and he just got super hyped and was, like, telling random people, like, yo, I'm the captain of Port Jervy, blah, blah, blah. And. Yeah, so we put it on the can, man.

Mike Ham [28:27 - 28:36]: So shout out another Patty C. Character in the echelon of characters. The baseball stuff. What's with the baseball stuff?

Patty C [28:36 - 28:49]: So what we were doing with that. So it kind of all goes together with the Happy Camper ep. Okay, so basically, this first single had the baseball. This next one, it's the COVID Like, the COVID has, like, the dog, like, catching a football.

Mike Ham [28:50 - 28:50]: Okay, so just kind of, like.

Patty C [28:50 - 29:01]: So it's kind of all stuff you do camping. Like, you know, like, we were doing, like, wiffle ball and, like, you know, throwing the football around. And the next one's pretty cool, too, man. Yeah, yeah, yeah. I don't want to spoil it.

Mike Ham [29:01 - 29:06]: No, no, I don't want you to spoil it. Yeah, yeah. Well, let me just check where we're at on time.

Patty C [29:06 - 29:07]: Yeah.

Mike Ham [29:09 - 29:23]: Perfect. Okay. So if people are listening to this and they're like, man, I love Patty C. I love his vibe. I want to learn more about his music. Where Would you start sending them to go do that and learn more?

Patty C [29:24 - 30:05]: Good question. I'd say so you can find me on any streaming platform, Spotify, Apple Music, all that stuff. So you can look me up on there. And I'd appreciate it if you did that too. So Spotify, Apple music, we got YouTube. Like, I put up the YouTube video. I'm doing another. Like, it's not as much as a professional music video as I did the first time, but for Jam on the Rock, I'm gonna put up, like, it's basically just like a visualizer of, like, these buddies that I have surfing. So, like, they're surfing with the tune, but you can really just go to, like, my Instagram or Facebook, and I also have a website, pattycmusic.com you can go to, which kind of explains kind of about the band and links and stuff like that.

Mike Ham [30:05 - 30:13]: Sure, that's cool. Yeah, we'll make sure that we put those in the show notes. People just go, click it, look for it, find it, listen to it, love it.

Patty C [30:13 - 30:13]: Easy peasy.

Mike Ham [30:13 - 30:16]: Yeah, Easy peasy. And you're just out there spreading love.

Patty C [30:16 - 30:20]: Yeah, man. That's. That's what I'm trying to do, man. As. As we drink them.

Mike Ham [30:20 - 30:24]: As we drink them. Yeah, we drink spreading love. We are spreading love.

Patty C [30:25 - 30:26]: Spread some love.

Mike Ham [30:26 - 30:37]: Yeah. So we're gonna wrap this up and you're gonna play a couple tunes for us. Can. Let's tell the podcast what we have coming out, because the tunes are actually gonna come out before the podcast drops.

Patty C [30:37 - 30:38]: True.

Mike Ham [30:38 - 30:40]: What do you think you're gonna play tonight?

Patty C [30:40 - 30:42]: So I'm gonna do. I can do two.

Mike Ham [30:42 - 30:49]: You could do. Yeah, Tuesday, as many as you want. So I'll probably play a private concert here, down here in Spreading Love and.

Patty C [30:49 - 30:50]: Jam on the Rock.

Mike Ham [30:50 - 30:53]: Okay. Ooh. Get a little early taste.

Patty C [30:53 - 30:54]: Yeah, brother.

Mike Ham [30:55 - 31:09]: Okay, so we'll. You could. Everyone could check that out on the Radio Garden State YouTube page. We'll put it on Instagram as well. Maybe we'll even. If I can get it done, maybe I'll even try to time. Was it Love under Rock?

Patty C [31:09 - 31:09]: Jam under Rock.

Mike Ham [31:09 - 31:11]: Jam under Rock. Spreading love.

Patty C [31:11 - 31:13]: Jam under Rock. Love under Rock.

Mike Ham [31:13 - 31:18]: Try to time it so that it comes out around when the song is released tomorrow night.

Patty C [31:18 - 31:19]: Be rad.

Mike Ham [31:19 - 31:21]: I. We'll see what I can do. I'm not a magician.

Patty C [31:22 - 31:22]: No pressure.

Mike Ham [31:22 - 31:40]: I'm not a magician, but I'll work on it all night and then wake up and go to turning stone, turning point, whatever the. Okay, so all the links for Patty C. Will be in the show notes. Thank you so much for coming up here. I really appreciate it. And for the beers. And also shout, shout out to Six Points Pizzeria here in Bloomfield, guys.

Patty C [31:40 - 31:41]: You gotta try it.

Mike Ham [31:41 - 31:47]: Yeah, we picked up some pizzas for there because I, you know, I wanted to be a good host and I, I'm glad that you enjoyed it.

Patty C [31:47 - 31:48]: Really good, man.

Mike Ham [31:48 - 31:49]: All right, good.

Patty C [31:49 - 31:50]: So you're fantastic host, man.
