Welcoming Grave Sinners to Communion?
Show Notes

It is easy to rashly judge a person who appears to be in grave sin, but, warning, this is incredibly dangerous. Learn about Mark Ji Tianxiang, a man who died as an opiod adicc and yet has been declared a saint of the Church. For thirty years his priest refused to admit him to the sacraments because he wrongly believed that St. Mark was in mortal sin. Learn how the Church's merciful understanding of mortal sin has developed over time and why a person who appears to be in grave sin, can, under certain circumstances, be admitted to holy communion. Learn why it is vital not to vilify a person who might look to be in mortal sin, but instead to join in welcoming this person, even to holy communion.
