So join the LBOH crew as they barrel roll their ways through all the gore and torture to find out who is behind all the madness.
Welcome back. I'm Derek. I'm Matt. I'm Shelly.
SPEAKER_09Why are we messing up the order?
SPEAKER_04I don't know. It's been a while, huh?
SPEAKER_09Oh, am I second?
SPEAKER_04I think you normally are.
SPEAKER_01No, I think it was Matt.
SPEAKER_04No, I think it's Shelly. I'm always loud.
SPEAKER_09I know I am second. You're right. It's okay.
SPEAKER_01Yeah.
SPEAKER_09Mount of the band.
SPEAKER_01How dare you. You are second. I just I have it in notes actually today. I can't believe that in the notes. Bunch of nerds. But uh welcome to Little Bracket of Horrors Guys. Uh it's October.
SPEAKER_09Officially.
SPEAKER_01It's our Super Bowl. Yeah, this is the pumpkin beers are out. Pumpkin beers are everywhere. Yes. But uh I think we all know what that means, and that is that evil dies tonight. Evil dies tonight? Yes. Have you not watched any of the newer Halloween movies? No. Okay. So and in the middle one, the last one, uh, they said evil dies tonight like 35 fucking times. They killed it. Interesting. They killed it and then they rebirthed it and then killed it again. It was ridiculous. So this week we got uh Ichi the Killer, unless you guys anything scary happen. You guys watch anything any scary movies?
SPEAKER_04I watched two scary movies. So we watched uh The Monsters, the new uh Rob Zombie Monsters movie. Yeah. Where was that at? Netflix, right?
SPEAKER_00Where where did you stream it?
SPEAKER_04That's what I was yeah. Uh Netflix. Oh, cool. Yeah. Netflix. So watch it on your own. I fell asleep. Oh my god. I'm getting really bad at watching movies now. I feel like I fall asleep within like the first like 10 minutes of it.
SPEAKER_01Maybe you should go to the doctor.
SPEAKER_04But I think it was yeah, that could be it too. But if I felt like it was a slow kind of progression, yeah. The beginning of it was very slow, and I'm just like, I I couldn't get into it. But it's family oriented. Oh, yeah, definitely. Yeah, definitely. Cool. Yeah. And then we watched uh my my son wanted to watch uh Ghostbusters, the first one. Oh we watched that. Classic. Yeah. Classic. Yeah, it was fun. It was cool. Uh, and that's about it. That's the only thing that's scarier that we watch scary.
SPEAKER_09I'm watching 101 scariest horror movie scenes of all time on Shutter. So I'm making through my way on those.
SPEAKER_05Nice.
SPEAKER_09I agree to disagree with some of their selections, but then I had to like remind myself they're doing scenes.
SPEAKER_00Oh, the scenes.
SPEAKER_09Okay, that's the overall movie. Right. So like some of their choices as far as like where they replace some numbers, like they've already um like child's play was in like the That's right. But it was like low on the list.
SPEAKER_05Oh no.
SPEAKER_09Yeah, but they're specifically talking about the scene where the doll is like chasing the mom through the apartment. Oh, okay.
SPEAKER_05Yeah.
SPEAKER_09So like if once you remind yourself they're doing specifically scenes, I'm hoping it progressively gets scarier. That's not the scariest scene. Right, exactly. So and maybe there'll be movies that are on it again for different scenes. I don't know. We'll see. I'm only on episode two.
SPEAKER_01How many, how many episodes is it?
SPEAKER_09Oh gosh, I know.
SPEAKER_01Is it a series that's gonna continue on, or they did they put them all out?
SPEAKER_09I think they have all it's 101. So like once you get through those, it's that's it. Yeah, but um, as far as anything else, we went to uh a couple of us from the podcast went to a Halloween themed wedding last night.
SPEAKER_01It was awesome. It was very themed.
SPEAKER_04I I saw the pictures and it looked pretty sick.
SPEAKER_09Matt couldn't make it. Yeah, so we were missing one podcast member, but this was for our honorary, always there. Lisa C, longtime listener, one time co-host. Yeah, who is now officially Lisa R.
SPEAKER_01Lisa R. She has shifted, that's correct. It was tons of fun, yeah. Uh a lot of uh Halloween decorations and all of theirs.
SPEAKER_09They brought she did everything.
SPEAKER_01We had to box, we had to. He made a lot of stuff, yeah. Yeah, Roger, Roger's so crafty. So Roger R. Good crafty dude.
SPEAKER_04We're we're we're today. We're at Shelly's house and she brought uh a pumpkin home.
SPEAKER_09I did, I did, I brought some decorations. So I always have I always have a part of them with yeah.
SPEAKER_01All right, uh, you guys ready to get into Ichi? Yeah, did you do anything crazy, silly? Not really. I had to take a quote. So we just went through Hurricane Ian. Uh that was pretty scary. Well, how did we miss it? We totally bypassed that.
SPEAKER_04That was probably like the biggest thing.
SPEAKER_09Talk about regression like on memories. Me and Matt were like, that happened.
SPEAKER_01Oh, wait, that's right. That's right. Which, you know, yeah, it's not funny.
SPEAKER_09Yeah, they're sad. Use a lot of devastating. Devastating stuff that happened south of us in our hearts. And everything goes out to the people down in the Fort Mary's area area and surroundings.
SPEAKER_01So I'm sure a lot of people who've listened. If if you paid attention to news and saw any of the footage, it's uh it doesn't look good down there. There's a lot of rebuilding that's gonna have to happen. But uh our hearts, our thoughts, prayers, everything positive is going out to you know our neighbors to the south of us. On that note, yes, let's talk about a guy who cuts people in half with his boots. Yeah. All right, guys, Ichi the Killer. So our first segment is called Dig Up the Bones. And this match just introduces the movie and gives us a brief little summary. So, Matt, please do take it away.
SPEAKER_04All right, so we got Ichi the Killer. This is a 2001 uh movie. It is actually a it's uh listed as an action crime drama. Okay, it's not even listed as a horror movie. Okay, so um it the runtime is uh two hours and nine minutes. Rotten Tomato gives it a whopping 64%. Uh the initial release was May 18th, 2003, by director Takashi Mike. Mike?
SPEAKER_01Mike? Sure.
SPEAKER_04That sounds Takashi Mike. That sounds like a rat name or something, right?
SPEAKER_01There's that Takashi 6'9 guy. Is that who you're thinking about? That's who I'm thinking of. The kid with the colorful hair? Yes. That's a rat.
SPEAKER_04Alright, so yeah, yeah. So I don't know. I'm going to really butcher these names, and I know this is this is Derek's favorite part of uh when I do this. Okay. So it's starring Tatianbu Asano, who plays Oh my gosh, I'm gonna say it wrong. Kakihara. Kakihara. Kakihara Kakihara, Neo Ormori playing Ichi, Shinya Tukasamando plays uh Ju Juji. Gigi. Gigi. Yeah. And uh Pauline Son plays Karen. And there's a bunch of other people there. I just stop people that's fine. I stopped them. There's no there's no freaking way I'm going through this. So this movie is based on a uh comic graphic novel series, music by Karen Musication, Sichi Yamato, oh my gosh, production company. I couldn't find any production company. It was produced by Akiko Fanutsa, Dia Makatsaka, distributed by Media Blaster Blaster in the USA. Uh box office, I don't think this went to the movies. Uh questionable. I just put question on it. Yeah, yeah, that's right. The cost was uh one point four 1.4 estimated. Gross was only 20,285. The gross worldwide was $80,631. All right, so Ichi is about Ichi the Killer is about a Yakuza boss named Anjo disappears and his chief henchman, a sadomasochist man named Kakaraha. Kakahari. Kakahari. Okay. You should be doing this part. When it becomes to the foreign shit, you need to do this, not me. So, anyways, this guy and his goons go looking for him. After capturing and torturing a rival Yakuza member looking for answers, they soon realize they have the wrong man and began looking for a man named Gigi, who tipped them off in the first place. Soon enough, Kakahari and his men encounter Ichi, a psychotic, sexually repressed young man with amazing martial arts abilities and blades that come out of his shoes. One by one, Ichi takes out members of the Yakuza, and all of all the while Kakahari intensifies his pursuit of Ichi and Ichi's controller, Gigi.
SPEAKER_01I don't know if he's that good at martial arts. He has one move. Yeah, yeah. But anyways, so anyways, what we can talk about next.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, we just follow the uh violence uh ensuing through Ichi and uh Yakahari. Kakahari. Kakaka.
SPEAKER_01Kakahari. Which is funny because so for Ichi the Killer, the face of the movie, the guy who's on the poster is Kakahari.
SPEAKER_09But I have a huge issue with that. Okay.
SPEAKER_01Should we wait?
SPEAKER_09I'm sure that's I just have a huge issue with the poster.
SPEAKER_01Okay. Is that one of your cons?
SPEAKER_09I don't know.
SPEAKER_01Go ahead and talk about it. Just talk about it. No, that's fine. That's fine. Go ahead.
SPEAKER_09We spent the most of the movie thinking we were following one guy's journey. Because the blonde guy is on the poster. Which is Kakahari, yeah. So I thought he like I thought we were watching flashbacks before he became the killer. And then the blonde version of him was like current time.
SPEAKER_01So I until they met up at the end.
SPEAKER_09And then I was like, wait a second.
SPEAKER_03Whole different perspective.
SPEAKER_09I was like, this is really confusing. They're flashing back, they're not saying names. I don't know who is, who, what time frame we're in.
SPEAKER_04I wanna, I got, I've got some cons too on on a on on uh a lot of it.
SPEAKER_09Just the poster one. Why is he kakika?
SPEAKER_04Kakahari.
SPEAKER_00Kakahari.
SPEAKER_09Why is he the face of the movie, but it's not named Kakihari the killer.
SPEAKER_00Right. Yeah. Right.
SPEAKER_09I don't know how to say his name. It's this is the best you're gonna get.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, they're both killers. No, that's fine. Kakahari. Yeah. Kakahari.
SPEAKER_08Yeah.
SPEAKER_01I'm probably saying it wrong too. Kaka. Kakahari.
SPEAKER_08I'm gonna call him Kaka.
SPEAKER_01You can call him gaping mouth dude. Gaping mouth. Smiley face. Smiles. Oh. Smiles.
SPEAKER_04Good point, though. I agree with you on the stupid poster. It's dumb.
SPEAKER_01Next segment.
SPEAKER_04It's dumb.
SPEAKER_01It's dumb. Sum up this movie. Dumb.
SPEAKER_07Dumb.
SPEAKER_01Alright, so next segment is Feasting Beans. And this we discuss the topics of overall pros, overall cons of the movie, favorite lines, most enjoyable characters, most annoying characters, favorite kills, slash scares. So, overall pros. Matt, I want to give it to you first.
SPEAKER_04So I definitely have to give it up to these you know Japanese movies and stuff where it comes to the blood scenes and everything. I love it. This the obscene amount of blood spraying everywhere. Um, so I really like that. Yeah, that was that was probably that was your pro that was probably it for my pros.
SPEAKER_01Just the bloody scenes. Um it is an art of you know when a neck gets slashed a little bit, just the blood spraying all over the place. Right. Painting the whole set red. So that yeah, those are enjoyable. What about you, Shelly?
SPEAKER_09Well, my first pro uh is it made me never want to join a gang or be a stripper. I'm so glad that it it pulled you away from the dark side. I mean, I've considered it.
SPEAKER_03You're so close, you're right there.
SPEAKER_09And then I watched this movie and was like, you know what?
SPEAKER_03Never mind.
SPEAKER_09Maybe not.
SPEAKER_03Times are tough, man. I get it.
SPEAKER_09I get it. I was like, if that's what it's like, you know, all the stuff that comes with it, then probably my cons. But um I it did also make me want to learn Kung Fu because he was like, Whaaa!
SPEAKER_01Oh yeah, yeah, that's not the exact sound.
SPEAKER_09He made other sounds.
SPEAKER_01He he cried a lot.
SPEAKER_09I won't say what sounds he made. Um and my last pro is I never have to watch it again. Oh, boom.
SPEAKER_06That's a good pro I love it. I don't think I've dropped that one yet.
SPEAKER_09I was like, that's really clever of me. I never have to watch it again.
SPEAKER_01I love thinking outside of the box.
SPEAKER_09I just wanted to add some more girth. Yeah, is everything?
SPEAKER_01There was some girth there. So uh I'm gonna jump in. Mine was sort of like Matt's, but I'll go into you know a death. But uh I thought some of the violent scenes were silly and comical, obviously, excluding all the rape violence that was going on. That was not comical. I did give two examples of funny violence, and uh the one was uh when Kakihari was cutting off his tongue to for repentance because he captured that Suzuki guy, which was with another Yakuza guy and was torturing him with uh hot oil on his back. And uh so for repentance uh he offered up a bit of his tongue, but uh after cutting off the tongue, he gets on the phone with Sarah, and then he's just talking to her as if nothing happens, and then everyone else in the scene is losing their mind, and the one guy like passes out, and it's just like I don't know, it was very loony tunes-y, and I fucking love that scene.
SPEAKER_09Does he pass out into a fire? Is he the guy who's wrapped in bandages for the rest of the movie? No, so that guy's tricky. I have no idea who half these people are.
SPEAKER_04Shelly.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, I'm waiting for that. So that we'll get into that with cons because I think we'll all probably might have the same one. But uh, I love that. And then uh after Ichi kills Anyo, the cleanup crew, when they enter the apartment, they got the three guys that are like the cleanup crew. The one guy slips and falls into guts, and he just like he's surrounded by all this gore, and he's just like, ugh, he did it again. Gross as ever. Yeah, and it made me chuckle because it was just like such a bloody scene and such like a lighthearted line in that, so it made me laugh.
SPEAKER_09So were you laughing before or after the rape?
SPEAKER_01That was after. Well, what was that scene? Was after, but yeah, because it was pretty quick quick in the beginning. The uh who was that that pimp cut? That wasn't Anyo. That was the Timmy. See, I thought he was Anjo. I thought he was Anjo. And and Anjo.
SPEAKER_09And did you think the guy that was outside masturbating to the rape was itchy?
SPEAKER_01Yeah, yeah, so did I. It was itchy, was it? On the balcony.
SPEAKER_09No, but I thought that was the blonde guy just in the past.
SPEAKER_01Oh, you thought that was no idea. That was like a memory.
SPEAKER_04I see what you're saying, but no.
SPEAKER_09Yeah, so I am adding nothing to the content because I don't know who anybody is or what time frame we're in. So, but I'll try.
SPEAKER_01But to your point, like, um, and I know we're on pros still, but this is kind of jumping in cons, but uh there were like a ton of characters and just moving parts and like cutscenes didn't help anything as far as like character development. Yeah, so like you were catching on like after things were happening, like, oh, this guy's that. And like you said, like you were at the end of the film, you're like, wait, these are two separate people. So I totally understand that and get that. So I I say we jump into cons. Yeah. All right, so Shelly, take cons.
SPEAKER_09Okay. Um, all the rape. Yes. I actually agreed, got a text from our now Lisa R, uh, who knows that that's not something I enjoy. And she was like, ooh, there is a rape scene in this one. And I later came back and said, You said a rape scene. They flashed to the same rape scene several times. Yeah, yeah, yeah. They did. I don't know who was in the rape scene, but um there were several rape scenes. I just don't think you need that much, and like with the one that they kept flashing to when I guess that was itchy when he was younger.
SPEAKER_01So the flashbacks, yeah, when it was.
SPEAKER_09Okay, because there was one that was maybe an actual flashback, right?
SPEAKER_01Yeah, that was a legit flashback.
SPEAKER_09That was a legit flashback.
SPEAKER_01Where it was like the school kids, right?
SPEAKER_09Yes, right. That was a flashback. That was the actual flashback.
SPEAKER_01Yes.
SPEAKER_09Um because then there was another rape scene that was like current day.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, that was the pimp that was beating up the right.
SPEAKER_09So the one with the school kids. I hate that I have to define two different scenes like that, but they showed it several, several, several times. I'm like, we don't I just don't think you need to show it that much to tell us that like this is why he does what he does.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_09But then at the same time, he gets off on it. And I'm like, I I don't understand it. So that was one.
SPEAKER_00That's just one.
SPEAKER_09Uh the fake graphics and CGI.
SPEAKER_00Oh, the CGI?
SPEAKER_09Um, so when the guy got split in half, and it was like grainy, it was a whole different hue than the rest of the background movie.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, he he It was bad. In that scene, uh, he had the blade in his boot and he supposedly cut through the whole human body with like a two-inch blade.
SPEAKER_09Yeah, but and uh my last one was the movie as a whole.
SPEAKER_01As a whole, as a whole the whole shebang was a con.
SPEAKER_09It was long, it was two hours, uh maybe eight minutes, two minutes. A little over two hours?
SPEAKER_01Yeah, it was two hours, I think eight minutes. And nine.
SPEAKER_09As I put, confusing. Yeah. They clearly did not understand what was happening. I think, and to be fair, I'll I'll be honest, there is a solid 30, 40 minutes that I didn't pay attention to subtitles. I have no idea what happened. I mean, at one point there was like a whole nother dude with a child that showed up.
SPEAKER_01The son's name was Takashi, wasn't it? The son's name was Takashi, but it was uh Kini Kaniko was the guy, and he was supposed to be like this moral, you know, Yakuzu guy that was like he was he had this son that was being being bullied and all that stuff. But uh yeah, he showed up when uh him and Ichi met when Ichi was getting like beat up in the alleyway. Right.
SPEAKER_04And he tried to like help him out a little bit because like he actually there was a flashback there to that scene where uh what's the guy's name? Harahu ku Kakahari Kakahari. Kakahari brought him uh his his goons, not Kakahari, but this other guy brought him in and fed him and everything. So he felt sympathy for for Ichi and brought and brought him in.
SPEAKER_01But Kaneko was he was the one he was the one who was the ex uh police officer who got fired because he lost his gun. And then uh so he was a disgraced ex-police officer, and then he he started working as a gunman for the Yakuza. Yeah. So it it was his whole thing was was interesting.
SPEAKER_09Don't know what you're talking about how you got any of this from that movie. So I'm gonna be fair.
SPEAKER_04Yes. So can go ahead and I'm done. I'm done. Someone else can kick off their cons.
SPEAKER_09Yes, I'm just watching you all talk about this movie and nothing.
SPEAKER_04So, Shelly, I had to literally, the first time I watched it, it took me about three days to try to watch this movie because I kept again I kept falling asleep. And the subtitles, I don't know, maybe it was my TV or something, but one of my biggest cons were the subtitles, the subtitles would come up like I'm talking to you. It would say, Hi, Shelly, and then three minutes like seconds later, then it's like me going, murderer. And then it would so like when somebody else is talking, then this it was like the the sync the sinking of the dubbing was completely off. So it would, it would, I'm like, who wait, who the fuck's talking right now? This guy's talking, but he said, but that was like that was dubbed like so long ago. So I don't know if it was my TV or the way that they did it, but did you have the subtitles or did you watch a dub version?
SPEAKER_01No, no, no, no.
SPEAKER_04There was no option or I would have watched dub version. I was gonna say, okay. I'm sorry, I apologize. I don't mean dubbed. I mean I mean subtitles weren't subtitles were. But yeah, the syncing of it was completely off. So to try to follow this movie with that, forget it. Okay, forget it because it was it was so it was so off. Like, you know, one person was like I said, I mean I'm repeating myself now, but anyways, to me that was confusing. Um again, very confusing to follow, very disturbing too. I thought I thought a lot of like more disturbing were were the rape scenes and and the guy just beating the shit out of the girl, like, okay, I we get it. Like that kind of stuff doesn't I mean the rape stuff in movies though it doesn't necessarily bother me, but this one it really bothered me because it was just so much.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, she was the the poor girl Sailor was a girl who was getting beat and raped by the pimp, uh, and she got it twice. You know, with the rape revenge movies like Last House on the Left and I Spin in Your Grave, like there's a revenge factor that makes you like feel better about the movie, but like she didn't get revenge on the pimp. Ichi just took him out. So that part of the film was like, you wanted her, like as a viewer, like at least you know, for me when I watch films like that, I want the female to be the one who gets the revenge, not the guy, not just the guy to get his come-up ins, but I want it to be by the female character who had to suffers.
SPEAKER_04Right. But I was even confused at that because after he killed the the pimp who I thought was was Anjo, no, he was completely sexy. That's who I thought was.
SPEAKER_01That was confusing because, you know, to your point, when they uh in the beginning of the film uh film when uh Kaniko is talking to the guy, everyone hanging out in like the pool hall or whatever, right, and they're saying, Oh, he's he's just fucking some girl, don't worry about it, you don't have to watch over him. The next cutscene is the pimp guy beating the shit out of Sailor and raping her. Okay. And then so initially I thought it was Anyo, but when I realized it wasn't was Um the cleanup crew when they're talking to talking to the cleaning crew, yeah, that's when they cut to Ichi going into the guy's apartment and just going crazy and there being blood everywhere. And that was Anyo. So that I didn't catch that until the second watch this time. Yeah, so so I I understand what you're saying.
SPEAKER_04So yeah, so I tried to again, so I always try to give these movies a couple times before I just categorize them as shit.
SPEAKER_01So the this You're giving this one more than thirst? I yeah. You gave it more than you gave thirst.
SPEAKER_04I really want to try. And the second time I watched it, I still didn't get through the whole freaking thing because the dubbing just or I'm I'm sorry, this subtitles, the subtitles just threw me off. I'm like, I can't you turn you turn away, you're done. Yeah, movie's over. Um so so yeah, it was very confusing. Uh didn't didn't care for the gratuitous rape scenes and stuff. Um, and the other thing that I did not like, one thing, one thing you know about me is uh is I hate mouth noises when people are eating. Um the guy they were sitting in the restaurant, it was Ichi and the guy bring that brought him in after getting his ass beat, slurping their noodle. The guy was slurping his noodles so much, it was driving me. I'm like, I'm gonna mute this because it's driving me ball.
SPEAKER_01Can you go and him in the in the little noodle bar or whatever?
SPEAKER_04And then uh the last thing I have here is way too much yelling from the characters. There's a lot of it was just like that's funny to that. So those are my cons. Yeah.
SPEAKER_09I have to say though, uh, to your subtitle issue, isn't that like the ongoing joke about Japanese films? Oh, like that like that they never match up, that they're like, Yeah, yeah. I'm here to save you.
SPEAKER_04But that's right, but that but that's being dubbed, right? That's dubbing.
SPEAKER_03But like subtitles, but the subtitles are the same thing, maybe.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, maybe they struggle with that. Maybe that's it too. I don't know if it was my TV. Did you did you experience that at all? Did anybody experience it?
SPEAKER_01I was I was fine with it, but I I don't know. Maybe I I prefer subtitles to dubbed.
SPEAKER_09So maybe that's just watching the people that I probably didn't catch on.
SPEAKER_04Just go just go back and watch it and tell me if I'm crazy because I might be off. You want me to go back and watch it? You don't hear the people that please don't watch the whole thing again.
SPEAKER_01So all right, so I'm gonna jump for my cons. Uh scene transition, transition, much like you know, Shelly said, but it was very erratic, chaotic, and then you know, add in the random flashbacks with Ichi. Uh I couldn't figure out what was going on until far too long into the next scene, so that was a con. CGI effects, like Shelly said. And like I know this film was from 2001, and we've come a long way, but it's definitely dated with its CGI effects, did not uh hold up too well. And then, you know, one specific thing that bugged me was uh Karen. She just randomly would speak in English and everyone still understood her and would still like have conversations with her, but she was speaking randomly in English. Yeah I didn't know what the fuck that was for, or if it was supposed to be some artistic, like you know, note to something, I I didn't understand it, and it was just weird that she was speaking English.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, we didn't we have some other movie that oh, I guess it was the uh the last movie we watched, um High Tension. They did a little bit of that.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, but that was that was more of No, it was definitely a little it was it it made more sense.
SPEAKER_01Like she was just No, but this was this was a director like Takashi Mike made the decision to have her speak English in the movie. Like the what we saw English in uh the dubbed version of High Tension was them was who Lionsgate, whoever made that call to be like, no, we'll just have her say you know, call each other bitches and whores in French. Right. So that was that was after the film was done. That wasn't Alexandra and Aja's.
SPEAKER_09Yeah, I believe Karen's character description is an English speaking Chinese prostitute.
SPEAKER_01For what I know, yeah. So that those were our cons. Guys, let's move on to favorite lines, if possible. So uh I'm gonna go ahead and go first. Uh so I chose uh one of the three cleaning crew guys was an ex jacuza uh man who got plastic surgery, so no one would recognize him, but they eventually caught up to him and they're trying to uh torture him to find out where uh Ichi was. So uh in the scene uh it's uh Kakihara and the rest of the goons and are torturing him, and uh he says to Kakuhari, he says, You had the hots for Anya, didn't you? Not because you admired his balls, it's because you missed the pain that he inflicted when he beat you up. That's why you want to find him so badly. Am I right? You need him to hurt you again. So then after that, Kakuhari just like falls into a bed of feathers, and he just looks like a love sick teenager longing for his girlfriend, and he's just a sadistic douchebag who like sticks needles in people and burns them with hot oils, and he's just like longing for his boss so he can get beat up the way he wants to get beat up. So I I enjoyed that line, and then just his reaction to it. I uh I enjoyed that. So who's got another favorite line, Matt?
SPEAKER_04So I I don't know if I it wasn't necessarily a line. There was there was uh so it was it was uh when uh Kakahari is expelled from the syndicate via this video chat. Oh yeah, and the reac uh he reaches inside of his pocket and everybody's freaking out because they think he's and then he drops his pin in the cigarette, the ashtray. Um and then if you look at it's like through it's it's he's being expelled via like Skype or something. Like his 2001's version of Skype. Like his uh I I guess the leader of the gang or whatever, yeah, who's a giant pussy, by the way, which I didn't understand now.
SPEAKER_01He was he was uh he was very shooken up, and that's he's the one that passed out after he cut off his tongue. I don't I don't remember that character's name. I I don't know.
SPEAKER_09There was like thirty thirty characters that I were sure he's not the one who like you fell into a fire and he was bandaged up?
SPEAKER_04No, no, this was so this scene.
SPEAKER_09I'm just sorry. I got it.
SPEAKER_04And this is this this is.
SPEAKER_09Because wasn't the bandaged up guy on the video panel? No, the bandage up the bandage up guy was in the room.
SPEAKER_04He was in the room. So the guy on the on the on the on the camera, on the computer, that was like their their boss or whatever. So he so Itchy goes and drops his his pin in the ashtray, and then he, you know, he gets up to leave. He walks by Suzuki, the guy on all the bandages, and then they were like, Oh, that was easy. That didn't seem too hard. Like we thought there was gonna be this big you know blow up or whatever. And then he comes back in, opens the door, and knocks Suzuki over onto the floor. I chuckled at that scene. I thought it was pretty funny. Yeah.
SPEAKER_09That was your favorite line?
SPEAKER_04That was my favorite line. I it wasn't a line. There was that was I I prefaced it by saying it wasn't a line, but it was uh it was it was something.
SPEAKER_01He did come in and say, uh, I'm taking Anya's people, and they're just like he goes, Oh, by the way, yeah. So it wasn't a line. What about what about you, Shelly?
SPEAKER_09Um it was in another language.
SPEAKER_01Oh.
SPEAKER_03You're not you're not gonna say exactly how they said it.
SPEAKER_09I also like words don't remember a lot. And I was I was confused most of the time. I can't I did find one I did look at like I cheated and looked at the lines that were like on IMDb. But one of our viewers had it as well, so I'm gonna let them say it and cool.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, we'll let that go. Great. That works. All right, guys, let's go on to most enjoyable characters. Matt, you want to take it again?
SPEAKER_04So I mean, I liked Kakahari, I guess. He was probably my favorite character. Yeah. He was uh he I just thought his sort of nonchalant attitude to to the Sato Max Kism sort of world was interesting. Uh-huh. I just liked his character of of all of them. And again, this is this is not like uh a big uh you know uh award or anything for him, but but I just thought he was out of all of them, he was he was probably the the uh my most enjoyable character.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, I mean uh Tabanu Asano, the guy who played him. Yeah, I I he was my mo he was my most enjoyable character too. Uh but I just I just said uh you know he brought the crazy and he looked I thought he looked cool as shit while he was doing it. Yeah, you know, all the other gang members just had on these like you know black, gray tones that didn't look you know badass and cool, but yeah, you know, he was doing this crazy shit and he just he was looking like liberace. And I loved it. So uh Kakahari, Kakahari gets two. Can he get three? Can he get three?
SPEAKER_04Chili, we're over here.
SPEAKER_09No, I mean I I'm I'm I can't give it to him because I didn't know who he was. I thought it was itchy. I just thought it was Kako was itchy. Um I said Karen. Oh, Karen? I just thought it was funny how she randomly spoke English.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, I thought you like that. So that's cool. But I something different.
SPEAKER_09I didn't like a lot about the movie, so it's hard to say.
SPEAKER_04I thought Karen would have been my second. I like Karen. I thought she was I thought she was kind of badass in a in a sense. Of all of them, yeah. I thought she was like the the She was ready to like jump in when she needed to. Yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_01So a lot of the characters were you know pathetic and even itchy. So Kakahari wasn't, and in in my opinion, neither was Karen. Yeah. And uh there was actually a point in the film where they like after they tortured a guy and pulled his cheeks off, yeah. Uh she she was excited. Super excited. She was excited by it, and she was she told Kakahari she, you know, she wanted him to be her man, and then there was that scene where they're you know she's trying to punch him, but it's he's he's not getting the pain that he wants. But uh, yeah, I thought she was a great character too. Uh I think he's like talking her through how to do it.
SPEAKER_04He's like, you gotta, you gotta, you gotta really put really put in some effort there.
SPEAKER_01You gotta swing it, you gotta move your hips with your punches, you gotta really sell it. Um but uh and and she was like she had an interesting her her I guess her arc in the movie was interesting because she has she also had some sort of relationship with Gigi because there was a point where they're playing chess and she was aware that Gigi was pulling the strings and having Ichi do this stuff, so she was asking about Ichi. Doesn't really spoil the end, but no, it doesn't. I know what you're gonna say. But she talks about like, have you put me under any kind of hypnosis?
SPEAKER_04Well because because Gigi talks about you know how you know this should I should I say this? What how this how this stuff never happened? He just he just put it in his mind, yeah the false false rape and all this stuff. So he puts that he puts that into into Ichi's mind and then and then Karen says, Are you are you doing that to me?
SPEAKER_01Because she, you know, there's a scene where she does go and she tries to seduce Ichi. Yeah, and she's playing like she's uh Tabanu, I think was the female's name of the grape. I remember that. So she was talking about I remember that part. But she was so she was talking, you know, she was talking, and when you know she went to Ichi, she did have a flashback, like, and there was a realization that I think she was like, Oh, I have been hypnotized. Like I'm a part of of this game that Gigi's playing.
SPEAKER_04I see that because I I don't know why that's a good question. Why did she go back there and and try to seduce him?
SPEAKER_01Because I think she was trying to get information from Ichi as far as like to go back to Kakahari. Because I think she was still like, you know, she was trying to get in with Kakahari. At least that's what I thought she was doing.
SPEAKER_09I understood that. Did understand that that's what I'm saying.
SPEAKER_01I wish that we could put a I wish we had a camera and we could put this on your face. Yeah, we're gonna we're gonna update next season and get us on YouTube. Okay, maybe.
SPEAKER_09Yeah, no, I do remember that, but I don't remember any hypnosis in the movie.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, there was no, like, so we we didn't see it. He didn't, yeah, they didn't he just talked about it.
SPEAKER_04So when it was talked about, how was none of this really happened? Well, because he said it. He's like, this didn't happen. Did he? Well, and if you watch this according to Gigi, that's what happened.
SPEAKER_09Watch the movie. I did watch the movie, Matt.
SPEAKER_01Because Gigi was he was saying, I think he found Ichi. I didn't say that. Gigi was saying he found Ichi after Ichi killed his parents. So that's the only thing we really know that.
SPEAKER_08He killed his parents?
SPEAKER_01Yeah, but we don't know why he killed his parents. We just know that he killed his parents, and then and then Gigi started filling him with these false memories of rape, but then like go ahead.
SPEAKER_04Oh, it's Gigi was doing this so he could he he used Ichi to go do his bidding. But we're getting way sidetracked. It's good, but it's not good.
SPEAKER_09All right, so I just uh which one's Gigi?
SPEAKER_04Gigi's the like older guy that with the glasses?
SPEAKER_01No.
SPEAKER_09Damn.
SPEAKER_01Gigi Then I don't know who Gigi is. So Gigi is the guy when he takes off the coat and he looks big and buff. Yeah. And he kills that guy. Yeah.
SPEAKER_09Do you remember that guy?
unknownNo.
SPEAKER_01Holy shit. Shelly Bale.
SPEAKER_09I thought Gigi was the guy with the glasses. I'm so not.
SPEAKER_04Shelly Bailed on this movie.
SPEAKER_09I watched it. Yeah.
SPEAKER_04That end scene where he takes off his like his like uh suit and he's like this big, like ripped, ripped fucking Japanese dude. Yeah.
SPEAKER_09Sounds like a good movie.
SPEAKER_01Alright, guys, let's move on to most annoying characters.
SPEAKER_04Matt. Alright, so my most annoying character, number one, had to be Ichi himself. Yeah. I couldn't I couldn't stand him. He was it was like too much crying. Oh, I know. He was he was not like I would have thought he'd be he'd be like sort of this badass sort of guy, but he wasn't. And like I think we talked about earlier briefly, he had one move. There wasn't anything else. He was no karate master. He knew how to spin that one leg. It was effective. I'll give him that. It was very effective. But um, so he was probably my my most annoying character. And then uh just the one scene that was really annoying, but I almost thought was kind of comical, was where Kakarari's uh goons were behind him and they were walking down the street. Do you remember that scene? Yeah, they're just I just thought that that was annoying but funny at the same time. Wow. Because they did not look like a rough and tough, tough group at all.
SPEAKER_01Well, it's it's you know, he looked fabulous. So I mean I love that scene because he looked cool as shit. So I gotcha. Annoying character Ichi. Ichy, fair enough. All right, I'm gonna go next. So I said uh Kaniko, which was played by Sab Sabu, I think is the actor's name, but you know, he was just so he he was the disgraced ex-cop. And uh initially I felt I had to take a second. Initially I felt sympathy for him because his son was getting picked on, and I he was kind of getting kicked around by the crew a lot, but then he fucking kills Miyu after they're done torturing her, and I don't know fucking why. You went ape shit on her. He was kicking the shit out of her because he was asking her if she wanted water. She didn't answer, and then she just got her ass beat and he snapped and killed her. And I was like, what the fuck?
SPEAKER_04Yeah, fuck you. Yeah, you son of a bitch. I didn't understand that part. Yeah, I I am other parts too, but that was one that I was why what happened? Yeah, that bug started pacing around and then killed her.
SPEAKER_01Okay, so I also I didn't like Gigi either. I just thought he was the evil mastermind doing all the stuff, but then I also like like I said earlier, why? Like, was it vengeance? Was it money? Like, what were you after? So that another annoying character. So Shelly, what do you got?
SPEAKER_09Um, I wrote Ichi question mark.
SPEAKER_01Yes.
SPEAKER_09I wrote Kaka Kaka and Ichi. And then I wrote who knows.
SPEAKER_01Because they could be the same.
SPEAKER_09I uh yeah, right. I don't know who knows who. Um it's it I mean, foreign language aside, they it was really hard to follow who was who. Obviously, I had a really hard time following who was who and what people's names were and what was happening.
SPEAKER_04So they would have and the uh subtitles if they had the name and I don't know if I've ever seen that.
SPEAKER_09I don't think they ever called the one girl Karen. They did say Karen.
SPEAKER_04They said Karen a couple times. Yeah, they did. They did a couple times. Because uh he was the the the skin Ichi or no no the guy Kakahari or the saying is pulling that guy's cheeks.
SPEAKER_01Cheeks, yeah. She he yells for Karen. Yeah, the guy the guy on the floor yells for Karen to help. Yeah, because that's his club. But, anyways, next up, guys, favorite kills slash scares. We have a bunch of kills in this one, so we should we should have a pretty good time of this. Shelly, kills.
SPEAKER_09So I wouldn't I wouldn't consider this a scary movie. It wasn't scary, so there's no like jump scares. Um, I thought the suspension scene was kind of cool.
SPEAKER_00Whoever's Suzuki, yeah.
SPEAKER_09That guy. Um but then like at one point, one of the cleanup crew guys ended up in TV.
SPEAKER_01Yes, that was Conan.
SPEAKER_09That's the guy I was talking about.
SPEAKER_01That was the guy I was talking about where he was in the TV and they were torturing him. Yeah.
SPEAKER_04But he's he go ahead, I'm sorry.
SPEAKER_09No, no, it's okay. See, I just wanted to show that I I did watch some of it. Um but so like I thought it was it was that was kind of like a a cool scene where he was in the TV and he was it was kind of funny. Yeah. But anyways, on that point though, really quick before you guys go into your things, the the people who live in this town are numb to dead bodies.
SPEAKER_04Apparently so, right?
SPEAKER_09With the two specific scenes where they're just like there's I think one was the needle sticking out, and people are just walking by it. It's on the ground, they're just walking by, and then the guy in the TV ends up outside in a pile of TVs, but like there's clearly a dead guy in this TV, and people are just walking by it.
SPEAKER_04It's a rough area, like it's nothing. It's like, oh well, there's another one.
SPEAKER_09Yeah, that's how it felt like. Yeah, just another day.
SPEAKER_04Another dead body. What are we doing for breakfast?
SPEAKER_09Yeah, exactly. Let's get to the diner. Have soup.
SPEAKER_01Soup. Good soup. Yeah, then get some of those noodles and slip them down for you. Like you love, love it.
SPEAKER_04Eat like a person, you know.
SPEAKER_01Matt, what about you, Farrell Kills? There's scares.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, so yeah. Well, this this movie I definitely wouldn't categorize as horror at all. Um, action drama only because Itchy's only because Itchy's a bitch and he cries through the whole freaking thing.
SPEAKER_01I think drama is a little bit more deeper than someone just being a bitch.
SPEAKER_04Well, that's why, whatever. Well, that's drama to me. Drama. Drama. So my one of my favorite scenes is where um where uh Itchy chops off Karen's uh ankle. Oh, yeah, and she starts hopping around for a little bit. I thought that was pretty funny. Yeah. It was a clean cut, too, man. That's some sharp shit.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, well, he cut through a whole fucking body, too. He sure did, which is getting into my favorite kill. So I did love when he killed the pimp, even though it's it's you know, there's no way that would have happened. But uh, you know, it was just he that dude was beating the shit out of poor sailor and just bruising her up. And uh, I was just glad to see him cut in half. And I've so when I watched this movie originally, I saw it like back in like 2003, like not too long after it came out, and that scene blew my mind at the time. Oh, really? It did. I was like, oh my god, they cut a guy happen in this movie, and now watching it again, I was like, oh, that is fucking goofy as shit, man. That does not look that good. Yeah, so that was that was my favorite kill. Alright, guys, on to final cut. And this I just revealed a shocking ending of the film, and then we discussed and gave a ratings of one to five stabs. Uh, one stab, atrocious, no redeeming value, waste of time. Two stabs, bad, forgettable, poorly done, three stabs, mixed feelings, mediocre, okay. Four stabs, good, interesting, enjoyable, and five stabs, masterpiece, excellent, perfect. And then if you guys do want to watch this movie, I feel a five coming on. If you guys do want to watch this movie, uh skip this part, you know, after all these glowing things we've we've said about it.
SPEAKER_09Yeah, you don't need to know the ending. Yeah, go watch it.
SPEAKER_01Go watch it, and then you can come back to this part. And also, uh bear with me because in the you know, the final third act of this film, there's it's just a lot of cutscenes, and there's people, and I have to say their names numerous times so you know who I'm talking about. So I'm gonna I'm gonna be saying a lot of people's names throughout this fucking final cut. Unlike the movie, right? Yeah, exactly. So uh bear with me. Kakahari enlists the help of the twisted twin police detectives Yiro and Subaru to find Miyu, a prostitute connected to Roo Long, a member of Gigi's gang. When Yiro fails to get information from her through some very uncomfortable torture, Subaru decides to sniff her crotch and help track down Long. Somehow this works, and Subaru finds Long, but he outruns the brothers only to run into Kakahari in the alleyway, who takes out his mouth piercing so he can open his mouth wider and swallow when a long's punches. The twin show up and whisk him back to their base to torture him for leads to Gigi. Meanwhile, Karen is trying to seduce Ichi by pretending to be the rape woman from the his false memory. When Ichi becomes confused by Karen's claims that she desired for him to rape her and assault her, he cuts off her leg and karate kicks her neck with a bladed shoe, killing her. Back of the apartment, Kakahari is torturing Long to find the whereabouts of Ichi, but he knows nothing. Gigi calls Kakahari to let him know Ichi is coming to kill him, but is spotted by Takayama, one of Kakahari's men. Just before the despicable Takeyama eventually catches Gigi and reveals himself to be some roided out muscular dude, and he disarms and kills Takyama. Ichi arrives at Takahari's base, where he kills the twins Yiro and Subaru. Kaniko, Kakahari, and Ichi all chase each other to the rooftop, and due to Gigi's manipulation, Ichi believes that Kaniko is his brother and confronts him, but Kaniko shoots Ichi in the leg, and Ichi reacts by slitting Kaniko's throat in front of Takashi, Kaniko's son. Takashi attacks Ichi as he lies on the roof crying. Believing Ichi to be too unstable to hurt him, Takahari inserts skewers into his ear to drown out Ichi's cries. He suddenly sees that Ichi has decapitated Takashi, and Ichi charges Kakahari, embedding the bladed boot in his forehead. Takahari falls from the roof to his death, and when Gigi finds him, Kakahari has no wound in his head. So it appears that Kakahari hallucinated both Takashi's murder and Ichi's ta attack as he jumped to his death while Ichi cried. Years later, Gigi's corpse hangs from a tree in a park. A young man resembling an older Takashi leaves the park with a group of school children. The end.
SPEAKER_04Exactly to Shelley's point. Hanging dead bodies. Come on, let's get to class. It's a rough town, man.
SPEAKER_09Wait a second.
SPEAKER_01Yes. You look like you have a question. I can't wait.
SPEAKER_09Okay, first.
SPEAKER_01Did you fall asleep through the end?
SPEAKER_09No, I remember this specifically. Okay. I remember Kaka falls from the building. Yes. That happens, right? Yes. And then I thought it was Kaka hanging in the tree and Ichi walking away with the school child. How did they indicate that that was years later? So I You didn't even know you had to research it?
SPEAKER_01No. From what I I assumed it was Gigi's body in the tree.
SPEAKER_09How did you know? Did you see his face?
SPEAKER_01I didn't see his face, but he was the only one still because everyone in this movie fucking dies. He's the only one who's not dead.
SPEAKER_09So I thought so, but who killed him then? Someone didn't die. The kid. You're saying the kid killed him?
SPEAKER_01I'm so I'm thinking Takashi grew up and he wanted to get revenge on Gigi for all the shit that he caused and his his dad's death because it's ultimately Gigi's fault. So he had something. I don't know if he hung fucking uh Gigi in the tree or what happened. But and then so what was uh what was the deal with the crow? Because the crow came and took the early when he was a little kid, yeah. When he was a little kid, he was holding up the fruit and the crow came and took it. I thought it was an ear. It doesn't matter. It doesn't matter. But but at the end, so as he's walking right away, there's a crow that flew past him as well. This so there's some sort of symbolism of the crow.
SPEAKER_04I I feel like this whole movie, uh huh, it would, it would, if anybody gave two shits, you'd have to go and and and really l read the comics, the graphic novel, oh the magazine to figure out what the fuck is going on because there's a lot in here that you I feel like we just kind of sort of blindly went into because there's a lot to be probably explained in these novels. Um and we just we we didn't get that. Yeah. As as you know, not knowing what the fuck's going on. So I think a lot of these graphic novels will probably explain some of the shit. So probably. Yeah.
SPEAKER_01Alright, guys, let's move on into our stats. Let's let's do this. Shelly, give us your stab. Here comes the big five. She loved it.
SPEAKER_03I fucking love this.
SPEAKER_01It's got a wing.
SPEAKER_09Uh I mean I can't give it like much over like a one or two. I don't even know what to give it. Because like I feel like I feel like I haven't watched it, even though I didn't watch it.
SPEAKER_06Yeah.
SPEAKER_09I but if I had to give you a solid answer, I'm gonna just split the difference and say one in half.
SPEAKER_01One one point five. Nice. Matt, what do you got?
SPEAKER_04I give it a two. Two. Um, I I mean, again, I I wasn't one of my favorite movies, but but you know, doing this podcast with you guys, I I am I need to re-evaluate a lot of these fucking movies because some of them are like, what? I gave it what? Yeah. So um I'm sticking pretty firm on this one with a two. New York Ripper isn't looking so bad right now, is it? I New York Ripper was much better than this movie.
SPEAKER_01Sorry. Oh, again. I'll always bring it back to New York Ripper. I will champion that movie until the day I do.
SPEAKER_07Diddate a murder to you.
SPEAKER_01Alright, so uh I just you know, this movie's bonkers, has so much going on. I it's almost like um have you both seen Snatch? Yeah, so I sort of remember that movie. So Snatch is there's a lot going on in Snatch. There's a lot going on in Snatch. So this I equate to Snatch. There's just a lot going on, a lot of gangster stuff going on too in Snatch as well. But uh I highly enjoyable for me. I love Snatch, but this one was a little bit harder to follow. So um I just said, you know, the CGI also didn't hold up, and this isn't really a horror film, in my opinion. So I gave it three stabs because I had mixed feelings. I knew you were gonna give it a three. Because I like the movie, but it's not a horror film. He just said I like the movie.
SPEAKER_09Yeah.
SPEAKER_01It's three stabs, mixed feelings. Mixed feelings. So hard. I landed so hard on mixed feelings with this movie. Because, like, you know, we're a horror podcast, and this is not a horror, not a horror film. How did this phone just it's on shutter? It's on shutter, and it it's on a lot of like you know, horror lists.
SPEAKER_09Japanese horror is big, but I think they define horror differently than we do.
SPEAKER_01I think it's more broad.
SPEAKER_09That probably is scary them. They got dead bodies just in the street like every day.
SPEAKER_01We're like, whatever. Yeah. It's just is that Paul? Hey, what's he doing? I thought he didn't show up to game. I don't see his torso anywhere. All right, let's see.
SPEAKER_08How did he fit in that TV?
SPEAKER_04I don't know, but his knees are up on his chest, though, that's for sure.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, it's like who's a contortionist? All right, next segment is voices from beyond. And this Shelly goes through social media, shares your guys' thoughts. So, Shelly.
SPEAKER_09As always, uh, you can find us on Facebook and Instagram under Little Bracket of Horrors. Send us your thoughts. We love hearing from you guys. So we've got a new entry from a new listener named Brian M, and he he broke down all his thoughts for us.
SPEAKER_01Welcome aboard, Brian. Awesome.
SPEAKER_09Just finished watching on Plex. He realized about five minutes in that he had to manually turn on the subtitles. So poor guy was trying to watch it just in another language. Um, his pros was uh it was enjoyable, over-the-top violence and great practical effects, but his cons were the CJ CGI used, and when the guy gets cut in half was really bad.
SPEAKER_00Oh yeah.
SPEAKER_09His favorite line was the one I was gonna say that I researched up. Finaki says, Kakahara, what the fuck do you think you're doing? And Kakahara, referring to Suzuki, says just a little torture. The live the delivery was pretty solid, and it was the context of the scene since I suki is strung up on giant hooks.
SPEAKER_01That's great.
SPEAKER_09Characters, he didn't really like anybody in particular, maybe Kakahara by default, since he had the most personality. He hated Ichi. His outfit looked ridiculous, and he felt like that the heel blade would be very impractical to use.
SPEAKER_06Yeah.
SPEAKER_09And it was supposed to feel bad for him because he absolutely didn't. Overall, honestly, couldn't remember if I'd seen this before or just seen clips here and there, so that should tell you that for me, it's mostly forgettable. I recommend checking it out once, but personally I give it two and a half stabs. Fun fact he said Tatanobo Asano, who's Kakahara, plays Hogun in the Thor movies.
SPEAKER_01Oh, yeah, that's right. Yeah. Yeah, he's in he's in some of the Marvel stuff. Yeah.
SPEAKER_09Uh interesting. The newly Lisa R says.
SPEAKER_01Lisa R.
SPEAKER_09Congratulations. I'm gonna post uh here. So nope, did not like this. Too much rape, didn't make deep connections with characters, and not a horror movie to me. I'm willing to move mother to a three stabs and let this movie take the one stab. That tells you anything. Um, Jeremy W said, I did but couldn't understand any of it all in Japanese. What got me the most was the only one who spoke any English was the one prostitute girl who would switch it up from time to time. Very interesting concept. A lot of blood and guts, sexual assault on the woman, the torture scenes made me cringe a lot. He wants to know what's up with the blonde guy's face, talk about freaky. Takes those two two hoops out, how his mouth did that. I think he's talking about how his mouth like expanded more.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, yeah, because he swallowed that punch.
SPEAKER_09Overall, not bad. Don't think I will watch it again, but have to say it's something different. So he gave it four stabs.
SPEAKER_01Holy shit. Jeremy's I gotta ask real quick. Jeremy W, you have to let us know if you watch this whole film in Japanese without the subtitles. I truly hope so. I I need to know. So you need to let us know. All right, go ahead, Sean.
SPEAKER_09And he still thinks Sinister was the best so far.
SPEAKER_01Oh, solid.
SPEAKER_09Andrew S said when he was working at one of the record labels, they all watched this at lunch in the office and didn't get much work done after. And Andrew W said he loves Itchy the Killer and pretty much all of Takashi Mike's movies. It says Mike's.
SPEAKER_04It's it's it's M-I-I-K-E. Yeah. So I said it Mike's Mike, yeah. And Derek corrected me.
SPEAKER_09How do you suppose it's like I said Mike?
SPEAKER_04I said Takashi Mike.
SPEAKER_01It's it's Takashi Mike, yeah. Okay, at least that's how it's pronounced online with people talking about it. Sure. Takashi Mike. Yeah, Takashi Mike. Takashi M. Take that.
SPEAKER_09All right. That's it. That's our voices from beyond.
SPEAKER_01Nice. Thanks, guys. Thanks, thanks to the new uh.
SPEAKER_09Yeah, thanks for all your thoughts. Yeah, because like that's what we want to hear. We want to hear your guys' thoughts. We sit here and ramble for however long time, and we want to hear new uh new ideas about it. So, and you guys have different perspectives at the time.
SPEAKER_01All right, uh, guys, let's move on to interesting. Oh, well, oh Matt, do you have any interesting facts? I do I do have one that's rather disgusting.
SPEAKER_04I only the only the only one that I saw was about how Kakahari's character in the uh comic books. Manga? Yeah, manga, yeah. Manga's yes, he's uh is completely different. Yeah, he's portrayed completely different. He's like this middle-aged, like kind of like frumpy, sort of you know nothing like spectacular-ish, I guess. Yeah, as Kakahari in the in the movie Itchy. So there there was uh that and there was something else about the cut in his mouth, it's called something.
SPEAKER_01Oh, it's a Chelsea grin. Yes, that's what it's called. Yes, Chelsea Grin, yes.
SPEAKER_04So yeah, what do you got?
SPEAKER_01Uh so this is a disgusting movie, and I have I have a disgusting fact. Oh boy. So in the title sequence, so in the in the beginning of the movie, when he's watching uh Sailor get beat up and he's jerking off on the balcony, and when he runs away and the guy comes outside, the next shot is some jizz on a leaf. Lots of it, too, by the way. It trickles down into like a the grating or something, and then it spells out Ichi, the killer, whatever the title was sing. That is real seamen.
SPEAKER_04No. Yes. Oh, that's fucking gross.
SPEAKER_01Shelley does not look impressed with that move at all. Not alone.
SPEAKER_09I'd forgotten about that.
SPEAKER_01Oh, you knew did you know that?
SPEAKER_09No, no, no, I forgot that that scene happened. I mean it's never gonna forget it. Uh leftovers of his fruitful labors spelled out the title of the movie, which I thought was ridiculous.
SPEAKER_01So you're welcome. Everyone's welcome.
SPEAKER_09I guess I should have known right from there that that was itchy if his cum spelled it out, right? Oh yeah, that's a good way. That's a good way. I mean, you're like the word cum?
SPEAKER_04No, I just the Which do you prefer? Do you prefer something else? I don't prefer anything really. Is that better? I just I just like the the visual visual of it. I do like man juices.
SPEAKER_09His man juices spelled out his name.
SPEAKER_01So that was actual Yeah, that was real cum.
SPEAKER_09Um, maybe from like a horse.
SPEAKER_01A horse?
SPEAKER_09I don't know.
SPEAKER_01There's different kinds of man juices.
SPEAKER_09Maybe it was a male animal juices. Let's just say that. Yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_04Male animal juices.
SPEAKER_07It's gross.
SPEAKER_04It doesn't matter. It's fucking gross. Oh my goodness. That's terrible.
SPEAKER_01All right, uh, guys, let's move on to Wheel of Death. First and foremost, we must replace uh Ichi on the wheel, and uh Shelly will do that by grabbing inside the Frankenstein monster trick-or-treat bag. Yes, yes. Go get it. Shelly, do your job. Try it. Which I guess that was a whip noise I made.
SPEAKER_00That was a whip noise.
SPEAKER_04What was a whip noise for?
SPEAKER_01I don't know. Get going. Jeez. Very violent. Shelly? Uh-oh. What are we replacing Ichi with?
unknownI don't know if you can say this.
SPEAKER_09Uh the Poughkeepsie tapes?
SPEAKER_01Oh, the Poughkeepsie tapes.
SPEAKER_08I would just put Poughkeepsie on the P tapes.
SPEAKER_03The P tapes.
SPEAKER_08I don't think we can put that.
SPEAKER_03That could be uh No, just put the letter P slash tapes. I know what you're telling me to put. But as we roll through it and we say, we landed on the P tapes.
SPEAKER_01People are gonna go and and like No, we'll say Poughkeepsie, but we're not gonna fit fucking Poughkeepsie on the wheel. Oh my god. You're gonna have to abbreviate it. So just put fucking P. P dot tapes.
SPEAKER_04I could say Poughkeepsie.
SPEAKER_01No, you can say it, but I'm saying to fit it on the wheel. Because we can't even get we can't even get cabin in the woods. We get cabinet in the wood.
SPEAKER_04That's true.
SPEAKER_01Because it cuts off the S. So I'm just trying to help. The P tapes. Forward thinking as always. Just put the P tapes. Alright. Read off the films. What do we got on the sweet wheel?
SPEAKER_04Alright, so on the sweet wheel is Tucker and Dale.
SPEAKER_02Nasferatu.
SPEAKER_04The Death Pit. The Cabin in the Woods. The P-Tapes. The newly entered. P-Tapes. The Poughkeepsie tapes. Knight of the Demons. Knight of the Living Dead. City of the Dead.
