Welcome to Little Bracket of Horrors. The Pod that puts the fight in fright!
This is our second season kick off episode and after doing a little catch up with one another Matt, Shelly and Derek get into our movie list for the 2023 season. This season's approach was much more of "it takes a village" style, with everyone contributing movies to the Frankenstein Monster bag (including some fan submissions)
We also have our second installment of "Little Ian of Horrors" where Ian sits down to discuss his thoughts on the 1984 classic, Gremlins.

Season two. Back again.
SPEAKER_03Back again. That's it. Okay, that's all I got. Is that a song? Uh begin. Party over here.
SPEAKER_05Oh, and geez Louise.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, you know that one.
SPEAKER_03Exactly. There's a party over here. I don't think that is that song. Shake your dairy. But that's the song I went with.
SPEAKER_05Anyways. Shake a dairy. Welcome back, everyone. We are Little Bracket of Horrors. I'm Derek. I'm Shelly.
SPEAKER_04And I'm Matt.
SPEAKER_05And we are just going to do a little catching up today. We're going to fill out the wheel today and uh yeah, get this ready and uh let's let's get into it. So, guys, how was your holiday? It's been it's been a b it's been a while.
SPEAKER_03We've actually not even well, you've seen Matt because you guys are like brothers or whatever.
SPEAKER_05We're like stupid brothers.
SPEAKER_03Like I was saying, I've not been added to the group chat for the family.
SPEAKER_05Oh no, we gotta fix this. There's feelings.
SPEAKER_03Uh family.
SPEAKER_05You are family.
SPEAKER_03But I've actually not seen you guys. Yeah. I haven't seen Matt since our last episode. Yeah. And I might have seen Oh yeah, I saw Derek Christmas yesterday.
SPEAKER_05Yeah, we did the cookies and cocktails.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, my family has a yearly Christmas. Which I did invite Matt too. You did his whole family.
SPEAKER_04I was probably out of town.
SPEAKER_03He didn't come. Were you in PA?
SPEAKER_04I forget when when whenever it was. I was in Pennsylvania for uh after Christmas. We uh flew up to see the in-laws and uh spent some time with them. It was the 28th through like the fourth or something. So okay. I don't know if your cookie party was during the room.
SPEAKER_03No, it was Christmas Eve. You were here. Oh.
SPEAKER_04It was Christmas Eve. Whatever. I had to I don't think we paint. You've got a family. I had to paint my nails.
SPEAKER_03I had to dry my hair.
SPEAKER_05I don't think this bridge is gonna be rebuilt. I think it's ruined. I am even started. I know. Season two was ever uh so uh how was everyone's holiday?
SPEAKER_03Ours was quiet. Um we didn't go anywhere last year. We were in Puerto Rico, so yeah, that's right. Puerto Rico. So this year, no traveling for my family. We did do our party. Um, you know, we got a lot of stuff go a lot of stuff going on, you know, with our extended family. So we kept it low-key. And you know, even this year my mom looked at all of us and said, Hey, we're traveling next year for Christmas. So she wants to keep doing that, keep the tradition alive. So we started in 2020 going going away for Christmas, and she really enjoys that. I mean, mom and dad are both retired now. So yeah, so that was our Christmas. What about you, Matt?
SPEAKER_04Yeah, um, we stuck her around home for Christmas. We had uh we had our family white white elephant party. Yep, we did that. Yeah, we had that on Christ was Eve. Christmas Eve? Yeah, was it okay? Whatever. Yeah, so we had that on Christmas Eve, then Christmas Day, you know, we just did our normal thing, opened some gifts. I made lasagna. Oh yeah. Yeah, it's a family tradition. Family tradition makes no sense for Christmas, but yeah. But it's delicious. Yeah, so yeah, that's it. Um, just hung out home, played with all our toys, and and uh did you get all the toys you wanted?
SPEAKER_05I did. I did. I got a back scratcher, so I'm pretty bad. Back scratcher, sorry, I can't help myself. Yes, I know. Can't help myself. Exactly. And you never know how amazing a back scratcher is until you need one, and you stop using the corners of uh doors.
SPEAKER_04Years ago, yeah, exactly. Years ago, we went to Nag's Head and I bought a like a decorative uh with a nice painting of one of the lighthouses on it. Oh, that's adorable. Ah, it's such a great back scratcher. Back scratcher! Exactly.
SPEAKER_03I it's my favorite drink at the Polynesian uh bar at Ohana, and they give you a back scratcher with a drink. Yeah. It used to say Polynesian hotel on it, now it just says Oriental training.
SPEAKER_04Oh nice.
SPEAKER_03Thanks, Disney.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, so yeah, we just we just went to afterwards we went to Pennsylvania, spent some time up there in the wonderful Pennsylvania weather, nice and gray and dreary. Yeah, right. But we just did stay busy with Melissa's parents and stuff.
SPEAKER_05So did you get any snow up there?
SPEAKER_04No snow. No snow, but plenty of God. We got some rain. We got I got to spend a lot of time with my my other our other brother Jeremy up there. So there's too many of us. Too many of us. We're spread all over. That's the new spin-off.
SPEAKER_03Too many Wininskis.
SPEAKER_04Florida, Florida and Pennsylvania. Way too many skin. Well, there are some other Wininskys, but no, you know, it's spread out, but yeah. Yeah. So, anyways, yeah, how about you, Derek? Did you do one?
SPEAKER_05Yeah, just like everyone else, I kept it local. We did the white elephant thing, like Matt said, and I do want to touch on so for all the kids, we did an escape room, and we got to cash in that uh gift for the kids this weekend. Yeah. I was nominated the adult to go in with the kids, and it was a blast.
SPEAKER_03It's because you're the most like a kid.
SPEAKER_05Yeah, I'm probably my height is is closest to the kids. Yeah. So because they're all giants now. But it was it, it was the first time we've been in an escape room, and it was it was so much fun. You've done an escape room.
SPEAKER_03We we did one for um Lisa R's uh girls' bachelorette weekend in St. Augustine, and it was a scary one, and it was hilarious.
SPEAKER_05Yeah.
SPEAKER_03Um Carrie just kind of hangs out in them. Uh I I kind of just walk around. Lisa R, though, is like, open that, do this, da-da-da-da-da-da.
SPEAKER_05Directing.
SPEAKER_03They were scaring us all throughout, and people were screaming. It was funny.
SPEAKER_05Yeah, so uh it was a blast. It was in uh it was Tampa Escape Room down in Concrew Water, which is interesting, but uh it was a ton of fun. It's it's probably a franchise.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, probably I heard they handcuffed all the kids.
SPEAKER_05Yeah, it's starting we all started off handcuffed.
SPEAKER_03Did you say, okay, we'll be back in two hours?
SPEAKER_05Well, it was the hardest part. It was the most difficult part. It took us like 10 minutes just to get out of the freaking handcuffs. So uh yeah, just to let you know how we started off on that.
SPEAKER_04Well, it was it was nice too. I don't mean to I don't mean to jump on your butt um it was nice to be able to. Here we go again.
SPEAKER_03Matt's already jumping on people's lines.
SPEAKER_04So we so we never really all get together and go out to dinner. Yeah. So while Derek with the kids were in the escape room, the rest of us all went to a little nice pizza joint down there, and we all just sat together. We'd never we never do that. So that was kind of cool. And then the kids came back and Derek and stuff, and everybody just uh joined in and everything. So it was it was nice.
SPEAKER_05But it was so you get in the in the escape. I wouldn't write it.
SPEAKER_04I'm sorry, Shelly.
SPEAKER_05She's pouring salt in the wound. Damn it. But um, we did not finish it in the 60 minutes that we originally given, but the kids wanted to go back and finish, so we did go and we met up with the adults, we ate dinner, and then the kids wanted to go back, so I called the place and they said, Yeah, we'll give you a discount if you want to come back. So it was like cool. Yeah, so the kids and I walked back a couple blocks back to the escape room, and it took us probably 30 minutes to finish it up. But yeah, the kids finished it. We didn't get on a leaderboard, but I think every single one of them loved it.
SPEAKER_04And it was a colder night, too. So the adults pointing to myself that weren't wearing appropriate clothes were freezing their balls off.
SPEAKER_05So well, I don't think all of the adults have balls, so well, half of them, anyways. 50% of them. There you go.
SPEAKER_03However, I was talking to Carrie. Um, for for those who don't know me and Derek's wife are very close. And um, we were talking, and she suggested that that would be a really great uh podcast outing for the three of us and maybe my sister and your guys' SOs.
SPEAKER_05Uh we could talk about it.
SPEAKER_03We go do an escape room.
SPEAKER_05Yeah, that would be a ton of fun. They do have a Cabin in the Woods one. Yeah, that's what she was saying. A horror seems like a horror themed one. It would be perfect.
SPEAKER_04So actually, Maddie mentioned our niece Maddie, who's who's 13, mentioned Cabin in the Woods.
SPEAKER_05She did it with their uh their youth group or something.
SPEAKER_04Youth group, right?
SPEAKER_05So cool, very cool. Well, let's get back into it, guys. So let's shift it a little bit to the horror genre. Uh, did you guys watch any horror on our break? Any films you want to talk about?
SPEAKER_03I don't I didn't watch a lot because I'm binging the Great British Baking.
SPEAKER_05Is that on Netflix or something? It is.
SPEAKER_03It's the Great British Baking Show, and it's amazing. That's what my new niche is right now. But I did actually watch something scary last night. Ooh, do tell um I watched the menu.
SPEAKER_05Oh, yes. It's on HBO Max now.
SPEAKER_03So if you have a uh subscription to HBO Max, have either of you seen it?
SPEAKER_05I have not. I've heard about it.
SPEAKER_03I won't say a lot, yeah, because um after we saw the trailer before Terrifier 2, Turf. And um me and me and Derek both looked at each other like, oh.
SPEAKER_05Interesting.
SPEAKER_03And um going into it, I thought it'd be one thing. I think I thought like maybe it was gonna be eating people.
SPEAKER_05Yeah, that's what I was assuming. Okay. It's not cool.
SPEAKER_03Um, and it's very like it is a little out there, it's a little kitschy. I mean, it's um I got it's got some really great kill scenes, oh some really good kill scenes. Oh, wow. And but what's really cool is they they all throughout keep it like it's this fine dining experience where they're even showing you what each recipe is, what each course is called. They flash the food on the screen and say first course. It's called a description, and that's what you so you can read the course, and it gets wilder and wilder as the courses go on. So um, I know both of you have access to HBO Max. Definitely check it out. Um, highly suggest the menu. It's different. Was it like five out of five stabby stabs? No, yeah, but it was um it was a good, it was a solid new concept, too. Like anything like I have a hard time with uh horror like sequels, and that's all you get, or like you know, we have this new movie Megan Out, which is basically the female Chucky, like do something original. And I thought I thought the menu had that going for it.
SPEAKER_04Did you see Megan?
SPEAKER_03I have not seen Megan.
SPEAKER_04I kind of want to watch it. Is it streaming?
SPEAKER_03No, well, it might be. It's definitely on in the street. Early access, yes.
SPEAKER_05Oh, okay. Yeah, it looks interesting, but it when we saw the menu, it's I think the thing that popped out to me was just like the cast.
SPEAKER_03Frau Finds the Beast from X-Men.
SPEAKER_05Anna Joy Taylor.
SPEAKER_03Yes, I think I'm saying the name right.
SPEAKER_05Yeah, she's phenomenal. And she was in the Witch movie, which I just watched recently, which I fucking love. Yeah. So whenever I see her in anything, I'm like, ooh, I gotta see that. Yeah, she was gonna check out the menu.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_05Great.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, you have to let me know when you watch it.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, I will, for sure. I mean, uh so I'll go to me now. Yeah. I haven't really watched any horror movies. I always start them and then something comes up where I gotta go do something. So then, hey man, that was like we'll get to that. But um, but yeah, I'll start watching something, and then I just something happens where I just I get carried away from it. But um, I started watching um, I was just looking it up. It's called uh it's called a Christmas horror story. Oh yeah. Yeah, I started watching that.
SPEAKER_05What did you watch it on? Because I I think I saw it on Shudder on Shutter. Yeah, yeah. I saw it, I I didn't watch it. I actually I'm sorry, I'm cutting it. No, it's fine. Go ahead. But I I this season I tried to watch a lot of uh holiday horror.
SPEAKER_04So you you recommended me one and I started watching that too. Who was that?
SPEAKER_05Oh Black Christmas?
SPEAKER_04Yeah, yeah. Yeah, I started watching again. I start watching these things, but but it what I was saying is it's interesting. Some of these movies you start watching, you're like, oh, I know that guy. You never you never hear of of these horror movies because they're just kind of you know, nobody really, I don't know, promotes these lower, I guess maybe lower budget horror movies or whatever, but some of the people in here I recognize I couldn't tell you who they were, but I'm like, oh that that guy looks familiar. He was in he was in Braveheart or something, you know. You're like, oh that guy was in this. Yeah. So it's just kind of interesting.
SPEAKER_05Or like, I've seen that guy at Nightcourt. Yeah. Something random. Yeah. Did you see they're coming back out with a night court? Yes.
SPEAKER_04And I think uh I love Night Court too, so I'm gonna I'm I'm a little excited. John Lorquette, I think, is back in it. Yeah.
SPEAKER_03I thought he was dead. Isn't one of them dead?
SPEAKER_04No. And something recently, yes, yes. It's uh the The Bull, the guy that played Bull. I think he's still alive, I think, but it's um the judge, the judge. I forget his character. Oh, yeah, whatever. But he he passed away. He did pass away.
SPEAKER_03The main guy.
SPEAKER_04The main guy. Whatever.
SPEAKER_05Right, right. He passed away. Something recently I found out is Harry Anderson. Yeah, Harry Anderson. There you go. There you go. But uh John Laurquette did the narration. Oh, four years ago? There you go.
SPEAKER_032018.
SPEAKER_04Okay, so R.I.P. for four years. So if you minus ten, that'd be two thousand twenty. I'm doing math. Why? Hold on a second, just kidding.
SPEAKER_032018? 22 minus four.
SPEAKER_04So if you take twenty-two and then you subtract one, that would make it. No, four.
SPEAKER_03Don't don't do common court.
SPEAKER_05Common court. But uh I was just gonna say, uh, I didn't I just uh found out a while back that uh John Laura Ket actually did the narration at the beginning of uh Texas Chainsaw. I was like, oh shit. I didn't know that. He does have a he does have a deep sort of voice and stuff he's got sort of like a radio guy voice, yeah he does, or like you know, uh broadcaster voice. Right. So yeah, it it made sense. But I yeah, just like I said, I I dove into a bunch of holiday horror. I watched uh Black Christmas, phenomenal. Uh I watched a couple of duds too, but uh I just watched the other day New Year's Evil, which was absolutely fucking terrible. Yeah, yeah, those those were uh those are some films I watched that were holiday adjacent horror films. So you guys ready to get into it? Let's let's do it. Let's do this. So I just thought we would kind of give our process on how because last season I chose all the movies. This season, much more democratic. We have each gotten a say in the uh list, and we've also thrown it out to our fans. But I wanted to ask you guys what was your process in coming up with your list? So, Shelly.
SPEAKER_03Um, yeah, I had a really big list to begin with, and I think where I first started was seeing what we could actually watch. Um we're trying to make this as as fan-friendly as we can. And although we can't do all free streaming services, I wanted at least um, you know, for us as a as a group, we've got a few streaming services that we have access to, and I wanted to stay in that air arena. So that went dwindled my list down quite a bit. Um, but from there, I basically had a mix of movies that I really enjoy, and there's a couple that I haven't seen that I've heard are really great. So that's kind of where I was coming from. I wanted a mix of comedy. I really love comedy horror and um just like scary horror and I and some gore, a little bit of everything, a little dabble of everything.
SPEAKER_05A little grab bag.
SPEAKER_03Do you want me to go through what's on my list? Yeah, if you want to. Okay, yeah. Yeah. So um we each pick 10 movies to add to our Franken Bucket, and my ten are going to be American Psycho, Shauna the Dead, Pet Cemetery, 1989, Mom and Dad, Cooties, Malignant, Wolf Creek, Triangle, Hellhouse LLC, and Lake Mungo. So I've got a couple of found footage in there, some really scary things. I have not seen three or four or four of these. So four new new to moon movies, the rest I've seen, a couple of horror comedies with um mom and dad, cooties, and Sean of the Dead. So yeah, a good little mix.
SPEAKER_05Yeah, good.
SPEAKER_03And a couple of like my favorites, like American Psycho, yeah, Sean of the Dead, are really and I really love Mom and Dad. It's Nicolas Cage. Yes. It's a really good movie. So cool. And it's very gory too, and like violence.
SPEAKER_05I haven't seen that one, and I am looking forward to it. So I if that wasn't on a list, I was probably gonna squeeze it in somewhere because I've heard so much stuff about it. That's great. It's great.
SPEAKER_03I've watched it a few times. Oh, cool. And you know, there was a few that I really wanted to add to the list that didn't make it. Um a lot of like 1970s, 1980s horror. Um, I lost there's a little movie. If I could give a a side nod to Little Evil on Netflix, never watched it. It's horror comedy. I watch it every year. I can't get enough of it. It's one of my favorite movies. It's kind of like a parody comedy horror, like where they um bring in like the omen and different horror movies, and there's like this creepy kid, and it's great.
SPEAKER_05Is that with uh Adam Scott, right?
SPEAKER_03Yes, the guy from uh Parks and Rec.
SPEAKER_05I almost said the office, but yeah, yes, same idea, yeah, same universe. Cool.
SPEAKER_03So that's my that was what I did. What about you, Matt?
SPEAKER_04So my my process was uh I was sort of like Shelly though, too, but I know that I put I put some stuff on my list that did was you know streaming free or whatever, yeah, and then it turned and then it came back and then it was no longer there. But for me, I love comedy horror too, so that's that that was I wanted to throw in a couple of those, and then I wanted something that I wanted to step out of my comfort level because we watched these movies last season. I'm new to the game, and I didn't feel like I mean, other than Sinister, Sinister was really good, and there were a lot of creepy sh shit that happened in it. I wanted something that I know is gonna make me just you know, I don't know, hair stand up or whatever. Yeah, but um, and we talked last season about you know the movies where kids are walking on a wall and twisting heads and all this like crazy shit. Like so that's what I that's what I wanted to do. I wanted to throw in something like that. So so that was sort of my process. Alright, so my list was House of a Thousand Corpses, Wolf Cop. I brought that one back. Back again. I wanted to bring it back. Uh The Shining. Um one of one of my my favorites, uh one of the you know earlier horror movies that I watched, Puppet Master. Oh wow. So I'm gonna throw that in there. Yeah, and like I had said about you know getting out of my comfort area or whatever. Um I picked the Conjuring, um Nightmare on Elm Street, another funny one, Tucker and Dale vs. Evil. I think we had that in the um I saw the previews for this movie and I was like, oh, that looks fucking weird. Smile. So I got smile.
SPEAKER_03Have you seen that Shelley? I have not.
SPEAKER_04Oh it's uh it's a movie. And then I've got the it's a movie. Um I just saw one of the clips and I was like, oh, I I think this might be a little freaky for me. The Crazies, the uh 1973. That's the yeah, the original. Yeah, the original. Nice. Uh, and a silly, ridiculous one, and you guys will probably punch me in the face if we I hate you for this.
SPEAKER_03Is this coming out of your comfort zone, Matt? Is this what it is?
SPEAKER_04This this is coming out of my ridiculousness.
SPEAKER_05Um, Tammy and the T-Rex. Oh, I've just I've seen it on Shudder forever, and I'm like, what the fuck is that? Yes, and of course, Matt puts it on the list.
SPEAKER_03As a dinosaur lover, you would think I'd be excited. Oh no, yeah. I'm not. Have you seen it? No.
SPEAKER_05Oh god.
SPEAKER_03Why would I why would I watch that? Why would I waste my time? Why would I be like, oh, look at this. This looks great.
SPEAKER_04It's got uh Denise Richards. Denise Richards and and the guy that passed away from uh Fast and Furious in the festival. Paul Walker. Paul Walker. That's all you need. Denise Richards and Paul Walker. That's a hell of a blesser. Derek, how about you? What do you got over there, buddy?
SPEAKER_05All right, so um I know your thought process. So with with mine, uh to piss us off. Yeah, I try I tried to do like Shelly, I tried to grab a couple different things, but I did uh a couple of the movies that we had on our first season, there are sequels for. So I tried to add those because I think it would be cool to go down the line of some of these movies and experience it. So I've added some of those. Um, but I'll just I'll just uh I'll read my list off. First one I actually got from John. Um I have one from John.
SPEAKER_03I have a couple from John.
SPEAKER_05Oh, I got this one from John last season because uh John covered for us for Matt on the uh Captain of the Woods episode. But uh he suggested children shouldn't play with dead things, and that made my list. And then next up, I I wanted to go with a like a Cronenberg movie, so I went Rabid, which was one of his earlier films, and he's known for like body horror and stuff like that. And then I wanted to go with some Jalo, so I went Suspiria from Dario Argento. And then here's where we go Phantasm 2. Ugh. Friday the 13th, too.
SPEAKER_03I mean, I'll take it.
SPEAKER_05Yeah, ginger snaps too.
SPEAKER_03No, I haven't even watched it.
SPEAKER_05Oh yeah, that's right. Holy shit. And then and then I had Henry Portrait of a Siri Killer 2. Wait, she's still dying. All right, and then Insidious. Insidious.
SPEAKER_03Oh yeah. I mean, I like the Insidious whole series. Yeah.
SPEAKER_05Uh House. Do you know House? No. Okay. I've uh my coworker was actually this was the scariest movie to me when I was a kid.
SPEAKER_03I was like, sounds like who works as a doctor and oh yeah.
SPEAKER_05No, yeah. No, that uh this this one, uh, yeah, I'm not I don't know too much about it, but I see it on Shudder a bunch, and I'm like, oh it's probably a good and then this one I'm excited about. I have seen Braindead slash Dead Alive, which was one of Peter Jackson's first films. It's fun.
SPEAKER_03Like Lord of the Rings, Peter Jackson?
SPEAKER_05Peter Jackson in New in New Zealand. Awesome. It's just fun, and I hope we land on it. So this season we also we wanted to open up to the fans. We had we had about eight people reach out. Some some people gave a bunch of movies, some people just gave one, but uh we wanted to include you guys in on the mix, so I'm gonna read off your guys' movies real quick and who suggest them. So first up, obviously, Lisa R with Nightbreed. She added that into our list. And then our good friend Sherry F. She gave us an American werewolf in London, which is a classic. And they had the the whore house at uh Halloween Horror Nights, yeah.
SPEAKER_03Very good house.
SPEAKER_05Absolutely. And then our good old friend Jamie F. He suggested The Exorcist. Classic. And then Stephanie T suggested Deadstream, which I saw on Shudder. And I've heard I heard good things about it. It's a recent film. And then Brian M, he suggested Behind the Mask, The Rise of Leslie Vernon.
SPEAKER_03Solid movie.
SPEAKER_05Mike M, he gave us The Lost Boys, another solid movie. That was a good one. And then Jeremy W. Oh boy, our brother, he suggested the Vatican tapes. And then our last suggestion was from the podcast Gag Me with a Chainsaw, good friends. They suggested The Innocent, which is a 1961 film.
SPEAKER_03Didn't we have the Vatican tapes on the wheel last season? No. I thought it was on our list for some reason.
SPEAKER_05So yeah, that's that's our uh fan suggestions from you guys. We thank you guys for giving us some uh some movies. And just so you guys know who have contributed a list to uh this season, if it lands on the wheel and we have it for episode, we'll be reaching out. However, you guys want to get involved or not involved, you know, we're gonna put that the ball in your court, but uh yeah, we wanna we wanna offer that option to you guys who have suggested movies. So are we ready? I think so.
SPEAKER_04I think we got a good list. I mean, there's some there's some really good ones, there's some questionable ones.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, you know, but it was it was the first season. I mean, is anyone else infuriated over Henry too? Like, come on.
SPEAKER_05Listen, I'm not excited about it either.
SPEAKER_03So why'd you put it on there? Because I feel I feel like if I do it for certain things that we don't have to continue the progression on.
SPEAKER_05If we do it on Friday the 13th, we gotta do it with all of them.
SPEAKER_03It was the it's it's gotta be the uniform. A Demented 2. Would you have had it?
SPEAKER_05What was it?
SPEAKER_03Demented too.
SPEAKER_05Oh, I think I would quit the podcast again. Right, and I'm cool. But here's the thing Henry was bad, but it wasn't that bad as the Demented. I will watch Henry 2, willingly. I would never watch Henry.
SPEAKER_03You're just mad because you like Henry and the New York Ripper and all that guy.
SPEAKER_05I didn't I didn't like Henry that much. I think I gave it a three. It's an okay movie. No! It's an okay movie. Alright, so we're gonna start building our wheel. Shelly is digging her hands into the bag. Hey, Matt is getting the wheel ready, so we're gonna build the wheel live. Live.
SPEAKER_03Just like last season, we're gonna have 10 movies on the wheel at a time. There's 38 movies total in my little Frankenbag. And uh yeah, so each week we'll we'll draw a new movie to replace the last, and whatever uh gets picked today, we won't replace. We'll place something next episode. But we're gonna get our our initial 10. It's time for the initial 10.
SPEAKER_05Woo! Let's do this.
SPEAKER_04I was gonna do it, but you guys already did it.
SPEAKER_05So that's our default noise for transitioning into things.
SPEAKER_04It's it's like it's it's I want to do it really bad, but you guys already tell me. Wait, wait, wait.
SPEAKER_03Hold on, wait, wait, wait. Matt, do it. Wow, that was really your time to shine.
SPEAKER_04That was it. That's that's that that was that. The decimal level of that was those like those A-holes and those big pickup trucks that have those fucking foghorns.
SPEAKER_05So that's who you are. That's who you are right now.
SPEAKER_04Right now you're the douche. Yeah.
SPEAKER_03All right, Matt, you ready?
SPEAKER_05Yes, ma'am.
SPEAKER_03Let's do it.
SPEAKER_04Let's do it.
SPEAKER_03Movie number one.
SPEAKER_04Movie number one is watch it be Henry.
SPEAKER_03Malignant.
SPEAKER_04Ooh, malignant. Can you give me a spelling on that one, please?
SPEAKER_03M like Mary, A, L like Larry, I, G, N like Nancy, A, N like Nancy, T like Tom.
SPEAKER_05Malignant. Got it.
SPEAKER_03Okay, and that is one of my picks. Yes.
SPEAKER_05That's a Shelly choice, which is a great movie.
SPEAKER_03I have not seen it yet. You haven't seen it? I've not. I'm not saying I've been nine to two.
SPEAKER_05I've been ruining things for Shelley lately. I'm gonna shut my dirty mouth. No more cookie parts.
SPEAKER_03I give us a shout-out. And then they're like, oh, Derek W. has spoilers. And I'm like, okay, well, I guess I'm not listening. Alright, next movie drumroll is we have an American Werewolf in London recommended by Sherry S.
SPEAKER_05Ooh, a fan choice. Nice. An American Werewolf in London.
SPEAKER_03Do you need spelling on that, Matt?
SPEAKER_05Start from the beginning.
SPEAKER_04A space and space.
SPEAKER_03Alright, movie number three is. Oh, I think Number three.
SPEAKER_05Number three.
SPEAKER_03The Exorcist. Recommended by fan Jamie F.
SPEAKER_05Two fan movies. The Exorcist. Nice. I think I spelled that wrong.
SPEAKER_03E-X-O-R-C-I-S-T.
SPEAKER_05We don't have to talk about your spelling.
SPEAKER_03Well, he screenshots it and we share. I know, but we can fix it afterwards.
SPEAKER_05We don't have to discuss sugar back. Wow.
SPEAKER_03Okay, movie number four.
SPEAKER_04Let me just do what I want for once. Movie number four.
SPEAKER_03We have Suspiya. Recommended by D dubs.
SPEAKER_05That's a spelling, please. Yeah, that is a spelling, actually.
SPEAKER_03Okay, sorry. S like Sam. Sam. U. S like Sam. P like Paul. I R like Robert. I A. Suspiria.
SPEAKER_04Susper Susperia.
SPEAKER_03Suspi R Susperia. Suspai R-I-Sparia.
SPEAKER_04Susparia. I'm going to say it wrong when we land on it. Just say sus.
SPEAKER_03That's four. Okay.
SPEAKER_04That's four's.
SPEAKER_05Four's Frank and Bad.
SPEAKER_03Do we spill some boards? Mix it up. Internal panic. Okay. Number five is Cooties. Cooties. Which is another one of mine.
SPEAKER_04C-O-O.
SPEAKER_03C-O-O-T like Tom. I think. Alright, we're halfway through.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, cooties. And let me just point out, by the way, we're halfway through, and not one of my movies has been. Yeah, I know. I know.
SPEAKER_03I'm mixing it up really good.
SPEAKER_04I don't care. It's insane. These were decisions made by the almighty Ian Frankenbag and Shelly's hand.
SPEAKER_03Oh, we're gonna get all the fan movies on here.
SPEAKER_05Um, that's cool though.
SPEAKER_03We have Nightbreed, recommended by Lisa R.
SPEAKER_05We're setting up real good for the fans, yeah. Nightbreed. Have you seen that? One word. Yeah, I just wonder what have you seen Night Breed? That's a good call.
SPEAKER_03No.
SPEAKER_05I've I've watched it a while back.
SPEAKER_03Uh, I don't know. I have sometimes I've watched something and like then it comes back and I'm like, oh, I have seen it.
SPEAKER_05Yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_03Like Demons is one of those ones that I always feel like I haven't seen, but I have seen.
SPEAKER_05I don't know. I don't know.
SPEAKER_03That sounds weird. Number seven.
SPEAKER_05Is that gonna get one? Number seven.
SPEAKER_03No, it's another one of mine. Shauna the Dead. Ooh, Shadow of Line of it's a good one. That's a good one.
SPEAKER_05No, that's a great one. That might as well be one of yours. Yeah.
SPEAKER_04That's a great one, yeah.
SPEAKER_03All right. Number eight. Okay, come on, Matt. Let me see. Come on.
SPEAKER_01Fingers crossed for Matt Dubbs.
SPEAKER_04I got I got two more chances here.
SPEAKER_03Number eight?
SPEAKER_04Tammy and the T-Rex. Tammy and the T-Rex.
SPEAKER_03Oh, it is one of Matt's. Oh, snap. Smile. Oh, great.
SPEAKER_04Nice. I'm excited about that. I'm excited. About all these. These all look really good. Yeah.
SPEAKER_03So that's eight. We're on number nine. Number nine or two.
SPEAKER_04Last one. No.
SPEAKER_03Well no, we got ten.
SPEAKER_04So. Wait a second. Uh-oh. Oh, you're right. Go ahead. I'm sorry.
SPEAKER_03Number nine. Number nine? Number nine? Oh, it's a Derek's. Woo-hoop.
SPEAKER_05Oh, Christ. Is it Henry?
SPEAKER_03No, but it means I have to watch Ginger Snaps first. Oh.
SPEAKER_05Ginger Snaps 2.
SPEAKER_03So if that ever gets picked, I have double work to do.
SPEAKER_05But you don't have to take notes on the first one.
SPEAKER_03But we had movies go on the wheel at the beginning of the season and never got picked. I know.
SPEAKER_05I think Wolf Cop was on there also. It was.
SPEAKER_03Yeah.
SPEAKER_05It was crazy. Last one.
SPEAKER_03Last one. Can we get another bat one?
SPEAKER_05Can I get two on there?
SPEAKER_03Number ten.
SPEAKER_05Number ten.
SPEAKER_03What is it? Let me see who's it. Oh, it's one of mine. All of mine are on there. Half of mine at least. Oh no, I'm just scared.
SPEAKER_05Slam dunk.
SPEAKER_03Ooh, it's a good one. It's a scary one.
SPEAKER_05Scary.
SPEAKER_03Hellhouse LC.
SPEAKER_05L L C Nice.
SPEAKER_03Three separate words.
SPEAKER_05So you've seen it?
SPEAKER_03Oh yeah, I've seen all of them. There's a lot of things. Oh, you did watch all of the point. Yeah. Alright. It's one of those movies when I first watched it, I had to sleep with like the TV. Oh wow. It is scary. It's a found footage, which I don't love found footage, but it's a good found footage because they use I mean I won't go too much into it, but they use like um surveillance. Yeah. It's like a paranormal activity. It's a surveillance clips, which I like found footage because then no one's running around with a camera.
SPEAKER_05So that's it.
SPEAKER_03That's the first 10.
SPEAKER_05Hey, there you go. To the fans. You guys, you a bunch of fans got on the wheel, so awesome. I think everyone's represented.
SPEAKER_03Matt, do you want to go through the list really quick? Yeah. One more time. Let's go through the 10.
SPEAKER_04Alright, so the 10 we've got is Ginger Snaps 2. Derek. We got um Let's Party. Malignant.
SPEAKER_03Yep.
SPEAKER_04Then we've got American Werewolf in London. We have the Exorcist Susperia. Did I say that right? Yep, that's exactly Cooties. Did I say that right?
SPEAKER_03Yeah. Wow, man.
SPEAKER_04Werewolf. Did I say that right? Nightbreed, Sean of the Dead, Smile, and Hellhouse LLC. That's a good list. That's a great list, right?
SPEAKER_03Yeah, I mean, that's a solid, it's a great variety.
SPEAKER_05It is. It's a good grab bag of films.
SPEAKER_03What were your thoughts on our list this year?
SPEAKER_05So I was just gonna say, uh, when you guys gave me yours and our fans submitted with mine, I just, you know, the first season, I really out of left field on a lot of stuff. I feel like we're more like This is a better list. We have we have Yes. Oh! But it is though, there's more, like, there's more popular movies on this list. There's not like random shit like I grabbed last year. So I I feel like this list is gonna make the fans happy because it's gonna be stuff they want to watch and not stuff like, oh shit, I gotta watch this. The Demented. The Demented? What the hell? So, anyways, I f I feel great about it. Yeah.
SPEAKER_03I think last year too, me and Matt were just like, this was Derek's brain child. And we're like, run with it, Derek, which is fine. But as the year went on and we got more comfortable, we saw the not the need or like, but the want to like contribute and have like movies we'd like to see, and saw the opportunity to contribute and change this into um you know, continually evolving.
SPEAKER_05Yeah, yeah, absolutely. And and uh I'm happy when everyone's involved and everyone's contributing, it's it's better. And and and that's the thing, like I want you guys to be excited about movies and not like uh what the hell are we getting this time?
SPEAKER_03I I mean I'm still like that because of Derek.
SPEAKER_05Well, you can you'll never change the 10 movies I I put in, but at least you at least you can move the dial a little bit with what you got.
SPEAKER_03And we said that when we picked movies, we were like, each of us can give 10, and we can't like be mad about any like we can't be mad or argue or say you can't give you mad.
SPEAKER_05I mean, I'm mad, but I but your list is your list. Yeah, that's it.
SPEAKER_03We're not allowed to be like, oh, you can't be it, be that list.
SPEAKER_05Yeah, exactly.
SPEAKER_03So are we gonna spin the wheel? We're gonna spin the wheel.
SPEAKER_05I think we are. We're gonna get to chant do the chant too. So is your volume turned on? It's it is it is ready to go.
SPEAKER_04Alright. So here we go.
SPEAKER_05Wheel of death. Wheel of death. Wheel of death. Wheel of death. What do we got?
SPEAKER_04And our first movie for season two is Suspiria.
SPEAKER_05Suspiria! Nice. Let's see. That's a Derek's pick. That is a Derek pick. That is a Argento flick. Oh right. The Jalo genre. Is this a French movie?
SPEAKER_03Susperia.
SPEAKER_05I think it's on Tubi. Cool. If I remember correctly. I love Tubi.
SPEAKER_03Alright, so this is the 1977 Suspira, just so everybody knows.
SPEAKER_05And just real quick, this so this is the original, but Sherry F also, one of her suggestions was the original. Was the remake. She wanted the remake. So maybe next year we'll do the remake. But yeah, this is the original.
SPEAKER_03And this one can be watched on Tubi for free. So everybody should have no excuse to watch this movie and participate in this podcast.
SPEAKER_05That's right.
SPEAKER_03Bunch of cool people. Love you. Sign a sign.
SPEAKER_04Well, that's exciting. We got we got season two on the way, and uh we got our first movie pick.
SPEAKER_03And and I the irony is it's a Derek pick. We still haven't gotten any more still.
SPEAKER_05Uh but yeah, and we're starting off with a with a classic, so hopefully everyone enjoys this film. But uh yeah.
SPEAKER_04I was just gonna say I I'm I'm excited like everyone else is to start this second season. Um I can't wait to get get the ball rolling and uh start creating the bracket and bringing it back down and claiming that's season two winners. So I'm excited.
SPEAKER_03And definitely um if you're not grab our socials. Uh we're little bracket of horrors on Instagram and Facebook. Uh we can be listened to on most podcast streaming um channels. I don't think we're not on any of them now. Yeah, we're we're Apple Spotify, Pandora.

SPEAKER_00Little Ian of Horse.
SPEAKER_05Say it from the top again.
SPEAKER_00Hello, my name is Ian, and welcome to Ian Bakadoff Horse.
SPEAKER_05Little Ian.
SPEAKER_00Little Ian, okay try it again. Hello, my name is Ian, and welcome to Little Ian Bacchadoff Horse. I don't understand. I can't understand you.
SPEAKER_05It's alright. Look at me.
SPEAKER_00What do you say?
SPEAKER_05Look at me. Little Ian of Horrors.
SPEAKER_00Okay.
SPEAKER_05Say it.
SPEAKER_00Hello.
unknownHello.
SPEAKER_05No, you're not telling you to read. Just say little Ian of Horrors.
SPEAKER_00Lidow Ian of Horse.
SPEAKER_05Of whores.
SPEAKER_00Of horrors.
SPEAKER_05Yeah. Okay. Alright, so so do it.
SPEAKER_00Hello, my name is Ian, and welcome to Widow Ian of Horse.
SPEAKER_05Hello, everyone. I'm Derek, and today we got who do we have with us?
SPEAKER_00Ian.
SPEAKER_05Ian. And who are you, Ian?
SPEAKER_00Um, I am a nine-year-old um child, and I enjoy mainly TV and video games.
SPEAKER_05Mainly TV and video games? Yeah. Nice. So uh we've had you on before. Do you remember what we talked about the first time?
SPEAKER_00Yes.
SPEAKER_05What movie was that?
SPEAKER_00Um it was Doctor Strange and Yeah.
SPEAKER_05The Dang The Multiverse of Madness?
SPEAKER_00Yeah, the Multiverse of Madness.
SPEAKER_05So we're back again. What are we talking about this time?
SPEAKER_00Gremlins.
SPEAKER_05Gremlins. Have you ever uh before we watched it uh over holiday break, did you uh did you have any idea about it? Did you see any of the you know pictures of the creatures anywhere? Did you know anything about gremlins before you watched it?
SPEAKER_00Um, I knew the ending of it because I saw you and Shelly um watching it when I got home. You guys were like watching the ending of it.
SPEAKER_05When was that?
SPEAKER_00I don't I think it was when we had this house.
SPEAKER_05When we had this house?
SPEAKER_00This house, yes.
SPEAKER_05I don't uh I don't know. I don't remember ever watching it with Aunt Shelley. Interesting. But you said Mom. Maybe it was Mom?
SPEAKER_00I don't know.
SPEAKER_05Okay, that's alright. So, um I figured I would just ask you, you know, your general thoughts about the movie, and then I'd got a couple specific questions. So uh what was uh how did you feel about Gremlins?
SPEAKER_00I felt um made me mentally ready for scary stuff to happen. People say it's not a horror film, but the most scary I'm not gonna get to it because I'm not meant to say it yet. But I already have the most scariest part I have.
SPEAKER_05Oh, okay. So do you just want to get into the questions then?
SPEAKER_00Yeah.
SPEAKER_05Okay, alright, cool. So uh first and foremost, what was the creature?
SPEAKER_00The creature was a animatronic.
SPEAKER_05Yeah, that's it was a puppet, but what was its name? It was what kind of creature was Gizmo. Gizmo.
SPEAKER_00That was his name.
SPEAKER_05What kind of creature was he?
SPEAKER_00He was a gremlin.
SPEAKER_05There were he could turn into a gremlin, but originally the little guy, the main guy, he was a starts with an M.
SPEAKER_00Monglot.
SPEAKER_05I forgot. That's so close to something. It's it's Mogwai.
SPEAKER_00Mogwai.
SPEAKER_05Okay, so he was a Mogwai. His name was Gizmo. Do you remember the three rules?
SPEAKER_00Yes. Number one, don't put them in white. Number two, don't get them right. And number the most important one, never ever feed them after midnight.
SPEAKER_05Yeah, that's right. What happens if you feed them after midnight?
SPEAKER_00They turn evil.
SPEAKER_05They turn evil? The one who's the most they have like little pod things that like shoot out more are created.
SPEAKER_00It's like something out of midnight. It's like something out of aliens, the movie Aliens.
SPEAKER_05Did you ever see aliens? Because I haven't.
SPEAKER_00No, but I know aliens they came out of these eggs sort of things. Yeah, yeah. That's right. They on the thing we watched before we did this, he was saying that it's the eggs are like some c sort of egg from aliens.
SPEAKER_05Yeah, okay. So, next question. Uh this is this is a uh this is a hot question. Uh do you consider this a Christmas movie or a horror movie?
SPEAKER_00Well, half of it is a horror movie. I'm gonna say the first period of the movie is like a Christmas movie, then the final half is like a horror movie, so it's like a Christmas horror movie. Okay. So the beginning it's just Christmas everywhere, and then at the ending, it's just the terrific the disaster in the neighborhood.
SPEAKER_05It's a terrific disaster, yes. So uh I think it's got a really cool Christmas feel of it, like in the beginning with all the snow. Yeah, it's a good thing. And it's it's it definitely has a Christmas vibe, but there are some definite horror elements. So I I can see how you would say it's a good crazy.
SPEAKER_00We only got like 160 deaths and count. Because there was 156 gremlins in the movie theater that died, and strike was the surviving one, so then I went to seven, and then three people died, one being a m male, one being a female, and then another one being a male, which is he was dressed up as Santa. Yeah. And strike, so that meant it would take place at six one hundred and sixty deaths.
SPEAKER_05Oh, okay. So that's uh where'd you get all that from?
SPEAKER_00Um um the YouTube video we watched for we did this, the refresh our minds on this.
SPEAKER_05There you go. Okay, good. So uh do you have a favorite kill or scare?
SPEAKER_00My favorite and all kill would be um see um Paul. Well you like w well um the the main character the main character walks in to see what happened to Like the science teacher, you just see him under his desk having a shot in his butt. Yeah. And just total his head is literally under the desk, which is just terrifying. It is terrifying. You don't even see the whole entire body of him. Just see his body and not his head.
SPEAKER_05Yeah. So that was the your the scariest killer scare for you?
SPEAKER_00Um the scariest scale was when the gremlin opened up the no was in the north room and he went like and then like popped up. I was like terrified then.
SPEAKER_05Where where was that again?
SPEAKER_00That was in that was when um that was the gremlin that killed the science teacher.
SPEAKER_05Oh, okay.
SPEAKER_00The gremlin that had Testedon.
SPEAKER_05Oh, okay.
SPEAKER_00The Gremlin that ate the chocolate ball. Oh, okay.
SPEAKER_05I gotcha. So uh what did you like about the movie? What was what things about the movie did you like?
SPEAKER_00I made me liked the gremlins because like my favorite part of it was the cuteness of the gremlins. My other favorite part about it with Scale Paul, when they were all like sitting there cowing and go, oh blah blah blah. And then it was like, I'm like, what is happening? Yeah. This is so weird. And then my cutest gremlin I've seen so far would be Gizmo.
SPEAKER_05Gizmo was the cutest.
SPEAKER_00Gizmo was the cutest. They did plan of making Gizmo evil, but that would just destroy the concept of it. Because people would be very sad when Gizmo turns evil, because you don't get that cute look. Yeah, so it's not gonna get that many people watching. So the director made that choice?
SPEAKER_05The director made the choice to keep him cute and not have him turn evil like the other ones? Yes. Okay, so that's a little behind-the-scenes info you got there from the video? Yes. Nice. Alright, so we know what you've liked about the movie. What did you not like about the movie?
SPEAKER_00Um, my least favorite thing, I'm gonna say it two times today, is um mainly would be the part where you see people get like annihilated.
SPEAKER_05Oh, when people get hurt. Like when the old lady is on the little left to get her upstairs?
SPEAKER_00Oh wait, I remember the main character. His name is Billy.
SPEAKER_05Oh, okay. Alright. So Billy.
SPEAKER_00He's been in another horror movie before.
SPEAKER_05Okay.
SPEAKER_00But he was killed by a ginoma spike by a man who's tall with those syringes in his head.
SPEAKER_05You're talking about Heck Razor?
SPEAKER_00Yeah.
SPEAKER_05Okay. The Heck Razor movie.
SPEAKER_00He was in the Heck Razor movie and he died. Alright, so that's But in this one he did not.
SPEAKER_05Alright. I think his name is Zach Gilligan or something, the actor.
SPEAKER_00Well, I forgot the name that I just said of.
SPEAKER_05That's okay. His character's name was Billy and Gremlins.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, it's Billy.
SPEAKER_05Okay, we're getting sidetracked. It's quite awful. Yeah. We're talking about Heck Razor now. Uh so uh let's finish it off. You know how on Daddy's podcast we do one to five stabs? Yes. So one stab being the worst, five stabs being the best, what do you give Gremlins?
SPEAKER_00I would maybe give it a fall and maybe cute and made me that, but the part that boosts it up to a five and stabs is when you hear the part about Favo disappearing, I'm like uh I was like decked in like a blankie then. I was terrified.
SPEAKER_05About the father disappearing?
SPEAKER_00Yeah, I was terrified.
SPEAKER_05Yeah.
SPEAKER_00Okay, so I was just giving getting cheers down my bones. Yeah, I didn't that didn't happen any other time in the movie, and I was just terrified.
SPEAKER_05So the part of that that is terrifying.
SPEAKER_00I felt like there was a kidnapple somewhere. It like you feel like it's gonna happen, but it's not. That's what boosted up to a five for me.
SPEAKER_05Oh, so you can't.
SPEAKER_00So I'm giving it five. I'm giving it five. So the So it's a good movie, it's got it's got like two sides. You got a Christmas movie and like a horror movie. Like it's fun for all ages, except if you're like a baby. Yeah, don't think they don't they would not like that because that gremlin can eat off their head.
SPEAKER_05Oh boy. Yeah, that's crazy.
SPEAKER_00So it's fun for any age that's above five, and it's just uh like like it's just so int insane that they could make one hundred and sixty one gremlins, because I'm counting Gizmo in the Gremlins movie. So there's a lot of things. They could fit that many, and imagine the time they had to spend on that many grem gremlins.
SPEAKER_05Yeah.
SPEAKER_00It would be insane. I mean, it would take me a year to do that.
SPEAKER_05It would take you a year to make that many?
SPEAKER_00Me by myself, it would take me a year. It would take me a year. I would be ten if when I finished.
SPEAKER_05Oh wow. Well you you ten you're gonna be ten in like three months.
SPEAKER_00I know. I'm going to be ten.
SPEAKER_05Okay. Alright. So, uh, before we close this out, is there anything else you want to say about the movie? You didn't give it your stabs. I would I I wasn't gonna stab it. This is I want you to stab it. Oh boy. So I would say I would say that this is probably uh I mean, this is such a classic. Daddy loves this movie. Daddy watched this movie a bunch when he was a kid. Um, and I loved Gizmo. I used to take my ears and pull them out and puff out my cheeks and call myself Gizmo. Uh so for me this film holds a lot of nostalgia. And you and I watched it together.
SPEAKER_00I agree.
SPEAKER_05You agree? Okay. So it holds a special place in my heart, and I love it, so it's a it's a five for me. I think it's a great movie, great story, great characters, great acting. I'm vested in it when I watch it. And watching it with you the other week, it just it uh solidified how good of a movie.
SPEAKER_00They put lots of effort into that movie. But sometimes lots of effort.
SPEAKER_05You know, sometimes putting in effort doesn't result in something being good. Sometimes you can try really hard, but it still doesn't come out. But they tried really hard, they put in a lot of work, and good enough for them, it translated to a great movie.
SPEAKER_00Yes.
SPEAKER_05Alright, cool. So with that said, thank you guys for for tuning in to our second episode of Little Ian of Horrors, and we will catch you guys on the other side. You want to say bye? Bye.
