SPEAKER_06Well, we started at the show and then Derek suddenly is like trying to mime. Did you do something? Did you silence?

SPEAKER_04So today we're talking about Suspiria, but before we jump into that, let's do what we always do. Did you guys watch anything scary or anything scary happen, Shelly?
SPEAKER_06I watched something scary.
SPEAKER_04Ooh.
SPEAKER_06Because I had to because Derek was all like, I did a shout-out on a podcast called Gag Me with a Chainsaw. And then they were like, Derek gave us spoilers. So I finally had to go watch this movie. Oh, yeah. So I watched Barbarian finally. Matt, did you see it yet?
SPEAKER_02No. I mean, I won't say much about it.
SPEAKER_06Well, it's a really good movie. Yeah.
SPEAKER_02It's so good. I've seen Conan the Barbarian. Is that good? That's good too. Is that close?
SPEAKER_06Yeah.
SPEAKER_02No? Alright.
SPEAKER_06Arnold Swartenegger. Get out of the chappa.

SPEAKER_06Um, yeah, so really great movie. I love anything that has a new concept. Like, that's always what I'm looking for. Stop doing the same old, same old. It was it was great. I'd pick it up again. Oh, yeah. Yeah.
SPEAKER_04Yeah. Definitely uh unexpected. A lot of twists. You're like, oh, okay, I wasn't expecting that. Yeah.
SPEAKER_06And I'm also, I mean, and there's no spoilers to say it it's around an Airbnb, is how it starts. Yeah. And I'm one of my friend group who is a uh purveyor of uh Airbnbs. Nice. And I nitpicked, I was like, well, that would never happen. And that would never happen. And I read all the reviews, and you have to check how many beds, because they say it sleeps six, and it only has like a couch bed, two twin beds, and a queen.
SPEAKER_04Oh boy, nice. Deep. So deep.
SPEAKER_06So that's that's what went through my head a lot in the game. But anywho, um, yeah, great movie. Great actors. Cast as stellar.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, really good.
SPEAKER_06Couple good jump scares, yeah. So I enjoyed it. Um, anything scary happened to anyone? I mean, I almost got hit by a car last night. So not me. I was in a car, yeah. So let me put that loosely.
SPEAKER_02That's like every day in Florida. I think everybody almost gets hit by a car. Yeah, I mean worst drivers, I swear. Florida.
SPEAKER_06That's because they're all implants. It's all implants. It's not actual Floridians.
SPEAKER_02Well, yeah, that's true.

SPEAKER_04Yeah, the coastal coastal area is definitely a lot of transplants. Yeah. Good. So welcome to our Florida podcast where we talk about sun, beaches, and how to not die on the roads.
SPEAKER_02So I'm gonna keep the ball rolling because we're just gotta go everywhere. So I didn't really have anything uh I didn't I didn't watch anything scary except for Suspiria, probably about 300 times. Oh, there you go. Fun.
SPEAKER_10Fun.
SPEAKER_02Yeah. As far as anything scary, nothing really scary happened. Uh I did have a back-to-back gig. I'm in a band, so that was scary trying to do uh two shows Friday night and Saturday night. So that was a little scary for me. But yeah, we we pulled it off. We had a great time. Third Friday down in Safety Harbor to shut the streets down. Bunch of people came in and danced and stayed. So that was really cool.
SPEAKER_04So that's something new.
SPEAKER_02Oh, yes.
SPEAKER_04Nice. They stayed. They stayed. Everyone's like, what the hell?
SPEAKER_06So you didn't chase them off.
SPEAKER_04Great question. You've been doing this for a while. How do you still get like, I don't know, like the rocks in your stomach before you perform, like the nervousness? Like, I'm sure you get it like before the stage. Yeah, Shelly's Shelly's also a uh entertainer. You're good to go. Well, do you take some gummies?
SPEAKER_06The show I'm currently in, I'm not even in the first act, so they'll be like places. I'm like, I guess I'll go get dressed. Yeah. I guess I'll get ready now.
SPEAKER_04But you've been involved and like pretty well involved in other ones before. Like, do you ever get that? Do you get that still despite how long you're doing something?
SPEAKER_06Yeah, but it's more about like don't mess up than it is like nervous to be in front of people.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, yeah. I get that. So yeah, my mine is uh I feel like it's different events, that's all different places. You get more comfortable. We do have one place that we go to, that's kind of our home. Yeah. Uh Cowboy Corral. Awesome place, awesome food. I'm I'm more comfortable there, yeah, promoting that nobody lists. Cowboy Corral. Yeah, man, it's a great place. But anyways, but yeah, I still get the I still get the jitters and stuff. Um nice. Uh the Third Friday thing was was uh was a very big area to perform in, so that was a little nerve-wracking. It was a big gig. It was a big gig. Yeah. Other than that, nothing, nothing really exciting or just watched Suspiria a ton. Ton of Suspiria. That's cool though. Yeah, it's a fun movie to watch. How about you, Derek? Do you have anything?
SPEAKER_04I watched I I've been watching a bunch of random stuff, but the the biggest thing is, and uh, if anyone tunes in, tuned in to last episode, you you heard me interview my son Ian about uh gremlins. Loved it. Well, he has now said that he's ready to watch drum roll child's play. Oh wow. That's actually a good one. That's a good one. But Stranger Things.
SPEAKER_06Oh he won't watch the Harry Potter movies.
SPEAKER_04Exactly. But he said he wants to start watching it next weekend with me because we have a boys' weekend. So I was like, all right.
SPEAKER_06Oh, yeah, that's because I'm taking my wife away.
SPEAKER_04Yeah. You're stealing her away. But um snew. Yes. So next weekend we'll we'll see how that goes. I'm excited about that. We'll see if Ian can deal with the uh demogorgon and all that fun stuff.
SPEAKER_02He does a great job, by the way, too. I love it.
SPEAKER_04I'll let him know. Yeah. You guys ready to get into Spiria? Cool story, bro. Let's tell it again. Jeez. All right, guys. So let's kick this off with Dig Up the Bones. And this, Matt's just gonna introduce the movie and give a quick summary. So, Matt, take it away.
SPEAKER_02Alright, so we uh we the Mighty Wheel selected Suspiria, as we all know. This is a 1977 horror mystery movie. It's uh runtime is about an hour and 40 minutes. Rotten Tomatoes gives this thing a 94%, which is which is pretty good. Uh the initial release date was August 12th, 1977. I know I might butcher some names here going down, but we got the director Dario Argento. Dario, Dario Dario, see, I told you Dario Argento. This was starring uh Jessica Harper as Susan Bannon. Susie Bannon, yeah.
SPEAKER_09You got it. Then why are you telling me? Because I just like this part. Okay, cool. Go ahead. All right, I got you. We got Stephanie Stefani.
SPEAKER_06No, I'm just kidding.
SPEAKER_04Life Wednesdafani.
SPEAKER_02There we go. Stefani Cassini as Sarah, Flavio Bucci as Daniel, Barbara Magnoliffy, yeah, as Olga, Aladie Valli as Miss Tanner, and Joan Bennett as Madame Blanc.
SPEAKER_04Yes.
SPEAKER_02Now there was sequel, there was there was a sequel, though, not a sequel, but a remake. But this is also, I guess, I kind of looked at it a little bit later, but this seems like it follows sort of like there's there's a lot of movies.
SPEAKER_06There's a trilogy, it's a trilogy different. But can you just tell us about this movie, Matt?
SPEAKER_02Sure. I'm just saying. Music by Dario Argento and Goblin. Yes. Uh Goblin actually produced uh or uh they collaborated a lot together. Uh distributed by Produzionana Atlantis Consorza, whatever. Sounds Italian. Sounds like it, right? Production company was Sita Spaghetti Lali. Did you say spaghetti? Spaghetti. Spaghetti. Uh the uh gross worldwide was 21,760. So this is about Susie. She travels to Germany to attend a ballet school. When she arrives late, a stormy night, no one lets her into the studio, and she sees Pat, played by Eva Exon, another student fleeing from the school. When Pat reaches her apartment, she is murdered. The next day, Susie is admitted into the new school, but also has a difficult time settling in. She hears noises and often feels ill.
SPEAKER_03Witches.
SPEAKER_02As more people die, Susie uncovers the terrifying secret history of the place. Bum bum bum.
SPEAKER_04So we landed on Suspiria last week. Matt, I don't think you've seen it before. Never seen it. Shelly.
SPEAKER_06No, I have not seen it.
SPEAKER_04Uh I've I watched it a couple years back, and it didn't like I was cool with it, uh, but I know it's a classic and people love it. So I was excited, and that's why it ended up on the list, and I was glad when it landed on the wheel. So let's get into Feasting Feast. And this is where we discuss the topics of overall pros, overall cons of the movie, favorite lines, most enjoyable and most annoying characters, and then we finish it off with our favorite kills slash scares. Shelly.
SPEAKER_06So I, of course, really enjoyed the soundtrack. Um, I was playing it when we got here. Uh so Goblin did a really amazing job, and um, very haunting, very throughout uh prevalent uh in the movie. So I really enjoyed the soundtrack. Um, it's one of the better Italian horror movies that I've seen.
SPEAKER_04Yeah.
SPEAKER_06Uh nothing really pissed me off.
SPEAKER_04There wasn't a rape. Right.
SPEAKER_06Score right. And and for the most part, uh, you know, until uh the end-ish, it had a cohesive storyline. It wasn't like jumping all over the place. And then I have to give it to the lighting design and the set design, which was gorgeous. Uh the colors and the architecture um they brought into the house in the beginning and in the ballet school, just uh stunning. So I know they uh mimicked it off of the colors used in Snow White and the Seven Doors. So that's why you see like the blues, the reds, the purple lighting, blue lighting, and stuff like that. Yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_04Um I think it was uh where Pat went that uh the apartment. The pink apartment. Yeah, it was it was so visually like it it was well balanced out and it was like a kaleidoscope. Like if if a kaleidoscope was a building, it was that building. Beautiful. It was amazing. So yeah, that's great. Anything else?
SPEAKER_06No, that was it.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, like like Shelly said, um, I love the the uh just the atmosphere, the f filmography of it. Um it just uh I don't know, man. The it's it's it's just very like nostalgic for me in a way. I just I love the way that some of these 70s movies um their setting is and the backdrop and everything. So um I just thought it was a classic, you know, 70s uh horror movie background. And and also, yes, the the music was was phenomenal. So yeah, that's pretty much what I have.
SPEAKER_04Okay, yeah. So I think we all agree, just like the atmosphere they created with the music and the visuals are it's like top notch. So we're all in agreement there. But uh a couple things I wanted to point out. Uh I usually don't like the trailers are usually nothing for me, but I thought the trailer for this was perfect. It didn't give Susperia. Yeah, it's a Spiria bunch, it was real creepy, and uh it didn't give away any of the plot, but it did it did show and it did convey the creepy vibe and the aesthetic of the film without giving anything away. So I was like, everyone who ever makes a horror movie uh trailer should definitely look at Sespiria's trailer and just take heed from that and just follow that route. So I love the trailer, and then um I also thought like the performances were weird because of you know, we know with Italian movies how they do the dubbing and stuff, but also with and I guess what they do a lot well as well is people speak whatever language they speak. So a lot of people aren't, you know, they're not all speaking German, they're not all speaking uh Italian, whatever. There's some Americans, Germans, Italians, whatever, and they're all speaking their native tongues. But there was there was something about the performance that felt like it was more of a play and not so much of a movie. It felt like they were playing to the back of the room, and it added to the just the oddness of the movie, and I think it helped it out a lot. And that's something I liked a lot about the movie is that they're how they interacted with each other was just off a little bit. Yeah. So I thought that was cool. So I think those were our cons.
SPEAKER_06No, those were our pros. Were you cons? No, I was getting ready to jump into cons.
SPEAKER_02Well, go ahead, fire it up.
SPEAKER_04Alright, so for cons, I just felt like there were a bunch of characters that were interesting. At least we got a little bit, but we didn't get them like flushed out. Like Olga would have been great. Like she was a smart ass. She was talking about girls with S's, you know, them all being snakes. And she was just kind of like an asshole. And it would have been fun to have her, but she dropped out after like 30 minutes of the movie, and then we never saw her again.
SPEAKER_09Right.
SPEAKER_04And I know uh Pavlos, uh the the Romanian guy uh that was a helper, he had like a menacing look about him. It would have been great if he like they showed him being like some sort of henchman for this coven, but like we didn't get a lot of him, and like he was just delivering food to Susie's room, and that was it. I was like, There we should have got more of him. He was great. He's very ugly. Yes, oh, he's very ugly. He's very ugly with his uh veneered teeth. Yeah, so I just thought wasted characters, and that was my that was my con. What about you?
SPEAKER_06Just the one con?
SPEAKER_04Just the one con. Okay. What about you, Shelley?
SPEAKER_06Um, the special effects, the blood was not good. It was magenta.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, yeah. It was it looked thick like fucking like some sort of tomato paste, too.
SPEAKER_06Yeah, it looked like slime.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, yeah. Um they got gagged.
SPEAKER_06As always, I hate the Italian dubbing. I hate that they are actually saying the words. Yeah, like they're speaking in English, but then they dub it. I'm like, it and it I just hate it. I can't stand it. I've said it before, and I'll say it again.
SPEAKER_04The next Italian movie we do.
SPEAKER_06Every Italian movie we do.
SPEAKER_04Yeah.
SPEAKER_06And then as I mentioned, um, I I didn't love the ending. I won't say much more than that. I just didn't like it. So okay, cool. Those are my cons.
SPEAKER_02What about you, Matt? Yeah, I mean, I I had a couple cons. I I didn't really fully understand the witch thing. Yeah. Um, it seemed like it seemed I mean, I under I get a covenant and everything, but I it just felt like there was a murderer on the loose. It wasn't like this it didn't for me at least, it didn't really focus on like you know, witches or whatever. Like I wish that there were more supernatural things that were happening, like you know, somebody flying out of a room out of nowhere. You want a broomstick? Yeah, yeah. No, I mean like yeah, I want an actual witch too. No, I want I wanted like have like one of the characters just like out of nowhere, just all of a sudden get slammed up against a wall or something. You didn't think the dog suddenly becoming oh yeah, yeah, but that Daniel, but like I was hoping more of like I just was hoping for more of more of something that showed more of the witchiness of it. I mean I got I yeah, the dog thing was great in the in the with the little kid and stuff, but um I was just wor wishing for a little more bizarre stuff to happen. Yeah. Um yeah, so that was that was pretty much mine.
SPEAKER_04Well that's that's interesting that you say that because I was, you know, one of the things when it first started off, I thought it was gonna be like a normal Zalo film, which is always a murder mystery, and there's someone who's a slasher. So the supernatural element I thought would have been cool if they like waited to the end to kind of like bring it in as a hook and like lead this as like a slasher film, but uh you know, we were given witch pretty much right off the bat when uh the score is saying witch in it. Yeah, right. Oh, there's clearly witches coming in fun. Can I interject real quick too? Well, this was your con, so yeah, please do.
SPEAKER_02The new the remake of of Suspiria, I watched that too. Uh-huh. And there's a scene in there where where um the girl just gets all like twisted up and everything, and it's from the witches. And yeah, and that's what I'm saying. Like, I wish there was more other than the dog, like, okay. But I was hoping like there were like some characters, like some some crazy things like magic, yeah, like happening and stuff. The new one that they have the girl who knows what's going on. She tries to leave, but gets stuck in a room, and she just gets all like twisted and stuff, and it's just very I've not watched the new ones. Yeah, check it out. It's really cool, it's fun.
SPEAKER_06So, anyways, yeah, the whole time I was watching the show, he's like, Well, the new one does this, and the new one does that. I was like, I'm not watching the new one, I have to watch this one. Yes.
SPEAKER_04So, next up, guys, favorite lines. Shelly.
SPEAKER_06Um, I just had from the doctor.
SPEAKER_04Okay.
SPEAKER_06And it's actually a line that goes on for Argento's uh like biography, and it's bad luck isn't brought by broken mirrors, but by broken minds.
SPEAKER_04Oh, that's right. Yeah, that was uh what was it? Uh Dr.
SPEAKER_06Frank Mandel.
SPEAKER_04Thank you. I was trying to think of his name, so well done. Mr. Frank Mandel, yeah. Which I've seen that guy in a ton of stuff. Yeah. I forget his ego curr, whatever. Uh. Yeah, that guy's in a ton of stuff. Yeah.
SPEAKER_02Great line. Matt, what about you? Yeah, so my favorite line was from uh from Olga, and uh, you know, looking at some of the fun facts, you know, I feel like they they probably kept this one in. Originally, um, the script, the dance company, was for children, and then uh Argento feared that it would be banned outright, so he raised the age up to the characters to be 20 years old.
SPEAKER_04So yeah, because his his dad, well, he came with it originally, I think, in the was like, you're gonna get a movie banned if you're killing a bunch of 12-year-olds. Right. So you need to up it up.
SPEAKER_02So the interaction when Olga's sitting there and they're in the the studio dressing room or whatever, the wardrobe room or whatever.
SPEAKER_05The locker room.
SPEAKER_02Right, there you go. She goes, uh, Susie Sarah. I once read the names, which begins with the letter S, are the names of snakes. And then the other girl's like sticking a I was like, all right, that's about an eight-year-old.
SPEAKER_04But it's I just thought it was kind of funny. It's so funny because of of you know them writing a script and not even attempting to change it to a bunch of 20-year-olds. They're like, no, we'll just keep that in. Little girl dialogue. Right. So that was mine.
SPEAKER_06So was a 12-year-old supposed to have her own apartment on the east side? I guess so.
SPEAKER_04It's Germany. Yeah. They let him run wild. They're signing leases left and right, man. This is true. But uh my my favorite uh line was in the beginning with Pat when she went to Sonia's apartment when she ran away from the school. There was just something about it that kind of set the movie up and was just like it was like a warm cookie out of an oven for me. I loved it. So it was just a warm cookie out of an oven. Wow. But uh she just said, because uh Sonia was talking about it's not that big of a deal to be kicked out of school. I've been kicked out of school, and she said, No, it's not that. I don't give a damn about getting thrown out. You wouldn't believe me if I told it to you. It all seemed so absurd, so fantastic. And I I love that line, and just the scene was great. So that was it. Nice great job. It was a warm cookie. All right, next up, guys. Most enjoyable characters. Matt. Alright. Alright, pick me, pick me.
SPEAKER_02Raise your hands. Uh mine's cheesy. Mine, uh, mine is super cheesy. I like the little boy.
SPEAKER_08Are you kidding me? I wanted more of him. No, yes.
SPEAKER_06That's why he should be my least favorite. Oh my god.
SPEAKER_08No, I wanted more of him. I wanted more of the little creepy boy stare.
SPEAKER_09The creepy boy stare with his weird outfits. His little Dutch boy outfit. I wanted more of that.
SPEAKER_08I was like, that that's pretty good right there. I like that guy. So he's your most enjoyable kid. He's my most enjoyable.
SPEAKER_04He didn't say shit.
SPEAKER_08That's right.
SPEAKER_04That's why I liked him. He just said he had weird looks and he was your most enjoyable. I wanted him more. Goodness gracious. What uh what about you, Shelly?
SPEAKER_06I mean, I had to give it to Susie, our lead girl. I mean, she was phenomenal. She had the greatest looks. Um she would she acted very well too, the actress, uh, Jessica Harper. So I give it to Susie. She was the only one who seemed to have any common sense in the school.
SPEAKER_04So she knows uh the footsteps were going right, not left. So they were going deeper into school.
SPEAKER_06So I think they definitely had a little witch in her.
SPEAKER_04Maybe.
SPEAKER_06And that's why that American girl has to die.
SPEAKER_04Yes. Exactly. There you go. Exactly. Um, so for mine, uh, I also had I had Susie, but I also had uh a shout out to Daniel. Just because I I thought his he had the best exit interview I've ever seen. I had him, and then I was like, ah, it's a toss up. Yeah. No, I love Daniel. Uh she was giving him shit about his dog, supposedly biting Albert, which I didn't fuck it by. No, I didn't either. That was a bunch of malarkey men. That's what
SPEAKER_11That's right.
SPEAKER_06I was more nervous that they were gonna do something to the dog. Yeah, I know the show something like that. What do you do? What do you do? What do you do? Wouldn't be the first.
SPEAKER_04And it's probably not gonna be the last time we'll see something done to an animal.
SPEAKER_06But I didn't I did enjoy it. I'm not deaf. Yes. I am blind.
SPEAKER_04Exactly. Free. I'm free. So I love Daniel. Yeah. And uh yeah, that was my most enjoyable character. So let's move on to most annoying character. Oh man, I'll I want to hear Matt's oh so I put Olga.
SPEAKER_02Okay. I mean, I love it.
SPEAKER_06That's my favorite line, but I hate her.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, I know. But that you know, she's just she's just a bitch. So it's like, okay.
SPEAKER_09She's a jerk.
SPEAKER_02I mean, I uh I mean there was that one girl, and I forget her name when she was kind of like uh what uh it was the same scene where they're in the the locker room oh yeah and she said Miss uh I forget it, Miss Tanner or something like that. I've I've got to tell you something. I was like, and that just kind of fell short too. Like, what the what was she like what was she even saying? What did what did she need to tell her? Yeah, it was like fellow story.
SPEAKER_04It seemed urgent, but they didn't give us what it was about.
SPEAKER_02But I stuck I stuck with Olga. Okay, cool. Yep. Olga, what about you, Shelley?
SPEAKER_06Um, mine was Alfred because he served no purpose.
SPEAKER_04Are you talking about Albert?
SPEAKER_06Alfred? Isn't Albert the little kid? I thought it was Alfred.
SPEAKER_04Oh, we can check. We'll just sorry Albert, yeah. So the little boy was here.
SPEAKER_06I watched Batman.
SPEAKER_02My favorite was your worst. Yes.
SPEAKER_06Yeah, because he served no purpose. I know that's my nephew. I'm quite fond of him. Who cares? Like for why?

SPEAKER_02Alright, you ready for this? Go ahead. Get it. So my favorite. My favorite kill slash scare was Eva Axon. The character was Pat, right? Pat.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, Pat in the beginning.
SPEAKER_02Her kill scene when she uh not necessarily when she's up there and she's getting stabbed by the guy, but when she falls through and then it sh it slowly it slowly reveals her being like impaled, and then she's got this like huge glass. Oh, that was that was Sonia.
SPEAKER_04Sonia was the one who got impaled and had the glass. Pat was hanging from the cord because she was right. Oh my gosh, she was tied up.
SPEAKER_02No, you're right. So she went through the not not yeah, Sonia then. So Sonia was my favorite. Yeah, not Pat. Yeah, I got I got him screwed up. No, it's fine.
SPEAKER_04If you want, you can redo.
SPEAKER_02No, I don't care.
SPEAKER_04You don't care. I don't care. We got it. I just messed up the characters, no big deal. Yeah. So that's yeah, that was a good one. What about you, Shelly?
SPEAKER_06Um, mine was Sarah's and the barbed wire.
SPEAKER_04Oh my gosh, yes.
SPEAKER_06Mostly because it made me uncomfortable, and I was like, oh God. I can't. It was like fingers on the chalkboard watching her in that barbed wire. Trying to get out.
SPEAKER_02The acting was superb. That's how it felt.
SPEAKER_06I feel like there wasn't she like actually thrown into something they had to be like really careful about it.
SPEAKER_04So she was just thrown into whatever it wasn't barbed wire, it was normal wire, but she was like getting pinched. Yeah, and it was like cutting her skin. She was extremely uncomfortable. And like her acting was real on that. I feel like she was trying to get out, and it was she was she was getting messed up.
SPEAKER_06Unlike the scariest scenes of all time, that was one of them because it's just disturbing. Like, and it's made me feel not good. Made me uncomfortable.
SPEAKER_04I so with that scene, I laughed out loud when she jumped in. So I was like, How didn't you see all that fucking barbed wire down there, lady?
SPEAKER_06She didn't jump in on her own accord. She wasn't like, barbed wire, wee!
SPEAKER_04But that was she jumped. That was the slowest getaway ever. But anyways, it's because there were witches. Yes.
SPEAKER_10There were. There's a murderer.
SPEAKER_04So I'm gonna take a scare. My favorite scare, and it did scare me, were the maggots falling out of the ceiling onto the women. You don't like bugs. I don't like bugs. Yeah. So, much like in a thing where there's any kind of slithery thing unknown coming out, uh it got me so good. So that was my favorite scare, and I was I was grossed out. Poor girls had maggots in their hair and all that shit. Yeah. Ugh. And then they had to go upstairs. Ugh. Anyways, getting sidetracked. Alright, guys, let's move on into fine cut. And this I'll reveal the ending of the film, and we discuss and give our ratings to one to five stabs. And also, spoiler alert.
SPEAKER_06Yes. If you don't want to know how Sashberia 1977 ends. Fast forward now.
SPEAKER_04Get the hell out of here. Do it now. Also, uh, just so you know, the ratings one to five stabs, one stab, no redeeming value, two stabs, bad, three stabs, mediocre, four stabs, good, five stabs, masterpiece. The morning after Sarah's death, Miss Tanner tells Susie that Sarah has fled the school. Suspicious, Susie contacts Sarah's friend and former psychiatrist, Frank Mandel. He reveals that the school was established by a Greek immigrant Helena Marcos in 1895, who was allegedly a witch. Susie also consults with the Professor Milius, a professor of the occult, and he reveals that a coven of witches perishes without their leader from whom they draw power. When Susie returns to school, she finds that everyone is left to attend a ballet performance. After being attacked by a bat and recalling a conversation with Sarah about footsteps, she follows the sound of them carefully, leading her to Madame Blanc's office. Having a flashback to when she ran into Pat upon entering the school, she remembers her uttering the words secret and iris before Pat was killed. Susie discovers a hidden door that opens by turning a blue iris on a mural in Blanc's office. Entering the corridor, she finds the academy's instructors led by Madame Blanc plotting her demise in the form of a human sacrifice. Albert, that little shit, becomes aware of her and alerts Pavlos and suit of Susie's presence. She runs away to hide and discovers Sarah's disfigured corpse with pins in her eyes. Did you guys see that in that scene? It took me like two watches, and I was like, wait a minute, there's pins in her eyes.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, yeah, I did. Yeah, when she comes out. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Okay.
SPEAKER_04Anyways, sidetracked.
SPEAKER_02No, it's cool.
SPEAKER_04Pursued by Pavlos, Susie retreats to Helena Marcos' bedroom. She finds Marcos sleeping, recognizing her as a headmistress by her loud snoring. She must have like sleep apnea.
SPEAKER_10Yeah, exactly. She needs one of the masks, right? Yeah, poor girl. I I get it.
SPEAKER_04She accidentally wakes her by breaking a decorative peacock with a crystal plumage. Marcos renders herself invisible and taunts Susie before reanimating Sarah's mutilated corpse to murder her. When flashes of lightning reveal Marcos's silhouette, Susie impales her through the neck with one of the peacock's broken glass quills. Marcos's death causes Sarah's corpse to vanish. Susie flees at the school's as the school starts to implode, a Madame Blanc, Miss Tanner, Pavlos, and the rest of the coven perish without the power of Marcos to sustain them. Susie escapes into the rainy night as a school is consumed by fire. And that is Suspiria 1987. I know Shelly used seven nineteen seventy-seven. How dare! Shelly, I know you didn't like the ending. Was it just like you didn't like it or was there something about it?
SPEAKER_06Like they just lit the place on fire and then they're like, here's the credits.
SPEAKER_04Yeah.
SPEAKER_06It didn't And then what did Susie do? What happened to the rest of the dance academy? Where are the rest of the dancers? Were they all?
SPEAKER_04Did you see in the credits? Did you see the credits of it? I'm pretty sure it said something like you you've been watching Suspiria.
SPEAKER_06Yeah.
SPEAKER_04Such an odd thing.
SPEAKER_06But I get it's not a TV show.
SPEAKER_04I know. They want to remind you whatever.

SPEAKER_02I like the I like the the I like the ending part, not that the burning, like that part of it. I was I felt the same, but like that well the act the action part of it I did like. I did like stabbing where she comes out. Like I like that, but the end end part we're just okay, yeah, there it is. That's it. It does feel like that. We've been watching, you've been watching Susperia. Oh. So yeah.

SPEAKER_04Yeah, Technicolor. Yes. But yeah, I I I get that. Yeah, I'd like to lead up to the end, but yeah, just the thing the the school catching on fire is like eh. Yeah. We could have did something more. It would have been cool if it would have like imploded in on itself or something. But anyways, or I'm not a director.

SPEAKER_06Or like maybe she goes to the doctor's house and the doctor's been a part of it all along. Yes.

SPEAKER_06Okay, so I'm I like to start at three for any movie. And um I like the way you think.
SPEAKER_10I do like that. Midground. I like that.
SPEAKER_06If I would pick it up again, I'm gonna go higher. If I wouldn't, I'm gonna go lower. I would not pick this up again. So I'm gonna go lower. But at the same time, I'm gonna give it some marks for the soundtrack, visual, and whatnot. So I'm giving it a two and a half steps. Okay. Which might seem loaded. Load?

SPEAKER_06It's it might seem load. Uh it might seem low. Let's hope not. It might seem low for this movie because a lot of people are big fans, but I'm just not a fan of Italian horror. So Okay.

SPEAKER_06I want to I wish I could give it more for the music and the visuality alone, but there's a lot more to a movie than that.
SPEAKER_04Yeah. Right. It's it's it's uh atmosphere. It's not the it's not the structure of it, it's the story, it's the plot. There's more that comes to it. Characters, yeah.
SPEAKER_02So it was a good movie. I mean, it was okay. It's just not, you know, but that's fair.

SPEAKER_04This this is not a perfect movie, but what it does right, it fucking it hits out of the park. We talk about the visual stuff, and I am I'm even the the bad things about Italian horror, like the dubbing and stuff, I'm starting to find like I'm enjoying it just because it's an over top, it's creating these over-the-top performances, and I'm loving it. So uh I don't know if I'm loving it, but I agree with you.

SPEAKER_06Which I think for him is like that's kind of huge. Lisa R said, so when the movie was pulled, I was like, all right, that's a decent first pick. I've seen the original and the remake. Both are good in their own right, but I've always thought Susperia was just your average horror movie. Decent to watch, good jump scares, plot is okay too. But it's not one that I'm going to be like, hey guys, let's watch Susperia on a random evening. I love the score. The main theme is fantastic, and was actually one of my songs on my cocktail playlist for the wedding. But overall, she also gave it two and a half stabs. Oh, wow. It's not bad, it's not that great either. If that makes sense, I have a hard time with 70s horror movies for some reason. The only one I really like is Halloween. The other 70 movies I cannot make a connection with. So she was right there with us. Uh, Jeremy W. He uh gave a couple, like two different reviews, so I kind of mixed the both.
SPEAKER_04I wanted to tell him the second one was like, you already told us what you thought, man. Settle down.
SPEAKER_06Yeah, it was basically the same thing.

SPEAKER_06So it said, very good pick from the Wheel of Death, the kickstart season two of L B O H. Very good plot. Love the special effects. Interesting movie about witchcraft and the occult. Very well done. Acting was good, a lot of mystery. Never seen the killer just hands and arms coming out of nowhere to kill. And you also hear someone say witch throughout the movie. The one scene that we'll forever remember is when the dog turns on the blind guy and rips out his throat. Scary scene. Never saw that coming. It's like that poor thing got pissed. All in all, good choice from the wheel of death, gave it three stabs. Can't say it's my favorite, but still good. Thanks, Jeremy.

The movie can be a little slow at times, but it's beautifully shot and has an awesome soundtrack. The opening kill is incredible, and I always seem to forget that Udo Kir is in here. This was a great pick to kick off season two. He gave it four steps. Hey, my man.

The woman who portrayed Helena Marcos wasn't an actress at all. Reportedly, she was a 90-year-old former prostitute whom Dario Argento spotted in the streets of Rome. So that's that's that was it. That's interesting. Uncredited. Poor lady probably not paid. Yep.

SPEAKER_04Which is Argento's girlfriend at the time, and uh she provided uh the gravelly voice for Helena Marcos. Yeah. So I thought that was cool.
SPEAKER_06Yeah, I mean, but what I'm I'm surprised neither of you brought up any fun facts about the soundtrack because that is the overwhelming film. Yes, um, because they didn't because of the dubbing, they don't actually film sound. So um a lot of times Argento would just blast the soundtracks while they were filming just to make everybody uncomfortable. But yeah, uh the longstanding relationship between Goblin and Dart Argento, it's just insane.
SPEAKER_04He a ton of Argento films, Goblin the Scored, and yeah, they uh definitely partnership.
