Getting our feet wet

Hello, and welcome to our trailer for a little bracket of horrors. My name is Derek. I'll be your solo ghost host for today. This is typically a three-headed monster, though, so along with me, you'll be hearing from Shelly and Matt when we get into the guts of this this season. But uh yeah, the idea for this was formed a few years back uh when my brother Matt, who's one of the hosts, uh and I, we uh we wanted to start watching horror films together and just uh you know try to create a small little horror film club which only ever uh ever consisted of him and I. But uh yeah, the idea was to just keep some notes in the films we watched and you know compare our experiences, talk about funny moments in it and you know, characters and all that. But uh we only uh we only ended up up watching I think it was three films Children of the Corn, Puppet Master, and Asylum of Terror. Uh so you know it it was over as soon as it started because you know we both had families and it was tough to carve out nights for us to get together and watch films. But uh yeah, so fast forward to I guess uh earlier this year, Matt and our and our friend Jamie they decided to start a podcast, and it was called uh In the Shed with Matt and Jay. On their show they discussed current events and they had a wheel topic, which we are actually stealing uh for our Wheel of Death. It's gonna be our tool of how we uh choose films to watch every two weeks, but they had good chemistry. Uh I enjoyed listening to it, but uh, you know, as as all things go, it came to an end. Uh so Matt approached me a few months back about maybe him and I starting our own podcast, and I thought, well, how fun would it be to bring back our idea of a horror movie club but in a podcast form? Uh now, just a side note, Matt is one of the funniest people I know, and we both have the ability to make each other belly laugh, and I figured, you know, we would be great together, and you know, it also does not hurt that he has a sexy, silky voice, so I uh I love the idea of starting a show with Matt, and lucky for me he was receptive and the idea was um reborn. Then we uh we just started crafting our ideas and just trying to create a strong foundation for this new and exciting um for us anyways podcast. I reached out to a few friends to get some feedback and see if they had tips, and one of the first people that I did reach out to was Shelly. She responded uh she didn't really listen to any horror podcasts, but uh she liked the ideas that we came with and it sounded like fun to her and she was looking forward to hearing it. Uh just a background in Shelly, she is a horror connoisseur. Uh actually her whole family is deep into the genre. There's a there's a con based out of Florida called Spooky Empire, and her family is a huge part of it. They've they've been volunteering and working for the con for a very long time, but uh she is definitely my go-to expert in the field of uh horror. With that said though, uh Matt and I we always visualize this as a three-person podcast, and I'm I am ashamed to say that I did I did not think of Shelly right out of the gate to be our third host. Even when I uh reached out to get some input from her, so uh, you know, just ball drop on my part, but not for long. Uh yeah. So it was a little while later, just like a bolt of lightning hit me that Shelly was the missing piece, you know, and lucky for us, she was she was all up for it. So I'm looking forward to not only your experience and knowledge, but uh just her perspective with the genre. So so you're gonna have two guys and then you know it'll it'll be nice to get a ladies' perspective on it, so everyone will be covered. But uh with that said, as horror movie fans, if you're anything like me, you love nothing more than getting into conversations about hypothetical battles between films and you know which one's gory or scarier, badass, or you know, whatever. Um but with that in mind, we present to you little brackets of horrors. So this is just a horror movie review show that at the end of the season we'll be finding out which films will make the cut and which films will meet their maker in the deathmatch bracket. So, join us as we slash and maim our way through the year of 2022.
