ABOUT THE PODCAST

The Unsexy Church is a weekly podcast exploring the real, everyday life within our church family. Each week, join Pastor Bob (Senior Pastor) and Darren (Worship & Discipleship Pastor) as they sit down to discuss a wide variety of subjects—from deep theological questions to the practical, often "unsexy" work of following Jesus and building a healthy local church.

WHAT DOES IT MEAN TO THRIVE?

We want to help every person make a genuine commitment to follow Jesus and then follow through with that commitment in Connecting People to a Thriving Life in Christ. These Thriving disciples should Dig In to the Bible, Grow Up in Christ, and Branch Outinto the community.

Our Mission: To Connect People to a Thriving Life in Christ. What is a thriving life in Christ? Scripture says that Jesus Christ came “that they may have life, and have it abundantly.” Our mission in the city of Tampa is to make disciples who follow the pattern of the believer in Psalm 1 and desire God’s glory above all things.

SPEAKER_02

Hey, everybody. Welcome back to the Unsexy Church Podcast. It's a podcast ministry of FBC Tampa. That's First Baptist Church Tampa. Where our mission here is to help you connect to a thriving life in Christ. As always, I'm joined by Pastor Bob Block. Hey, Darren. Good morning, sir. Hey, everybody. And producer Extraordinaire Jordan.

SPEAKER_00

Hello. Good morning.

SPEAKER_02

He got so upset with us last week about his hat, he changed hats. He did change hats.

SPEAKER_01

Is this one better? Uh yeah. Okay. All right.

SPEAKER_02

He's supporting his wife. That's where his wife works. Well, that's much better than where he's.

SPEAKER_01

It feels like a Monday, obviously. I'm feeling it all over. Yeah. It feels like a Monday today.

SPEAKER_02

Not only is it a Monday, it is a, and we'll talk about this weekend a little bit. It's a Monday after a long Sunday and after all staff meetings. So which are always fun. They are fun. But they are, they tend to be long. They can be long. They can be long. Exactly. So man, but it's good to be back with you guys today. I'm so glad that it is finally it's still February, but no, it's not. No, it's March. It's March. The calendar flips. We're recording this on March 2nd, and man, it finally feels like Florida again. It's 77 right now, I think. It's going to be 82. And Jordan is sitting in here with a hoodie and a flannel shirt on over his leg. So yeah. Yeah. And still probably cold. And shivering over there. He looks like he's shivering. Glad you guys are here today. Hey, got a fun fact for you. It's not on this day.

SPEAKER_01

You didn't even know what day it is, so that's good.

SPEAKER_02

But it's this week in history, something fairly significant happened this week in history on March 5th, 1948, I believe. 1948. In my home state of Missouri. Missouri. That's right. On March 5th, Winston Churchill gave his famous Iron Curtain speech. True or false, Bob. Iron Curtain was the name of the speech. True or false. I'm gonna say it's false. Okay. Jordan, what do you think? I think false. You are correct. Do you guys know what the the actual name of the speech was? Oh gosh, you're putting me on the spot.

SPEAKER_01

Um I didn't I did not know this. I I just I'm familiar with the speech. I'm familiar that he gave it. I'm just drawing a blank on what it no, though I I so we're not seeing a news of peace.

SPEAKER_02

See why we call it see that's why we call it the Iron Curtain speech. What do we what is that what was the Iron Curtain speech about? Do you know Jordan? Nope. Probably not. You're too young, which is sad, but that's all right.

SPEAKER_01

What was the date of the speech again? March 5th of 48th, I think. 1948. So So he's not even Prime Minister at this point.

SPEAKER_02

Oh, you just took away my next true or false question. Golly, man. Sorry. Yeah. He was not he was not prime minister. No, he didn't get re-elected after the war. Exactly. Conservative party had been ousted of power, but he was uh touring the United States, gave gave that famous speech. Uh but it was the beginning. It was kind of the signal of the beginning of the of the Cold War. Right. Yeah, back uh back in the day. So yeah.

SPEAKER_01

He's an interesting character. He is an interesting historical character. Fascinating. Yeah.

SPEAKER_02

I mean, just he's one of the guys I like to study, read about. Um great leader, but just flawed human being, but a great leader, yeah.

SPEAKER_01

Exactly right, man. Yeah, yeah.

Church Weekend Recap And Meetings

SPEAKER_02

Exactly right. Man, we had um so that that was let me ask you another uh true or false question. Oh man, he's in the true or false today. True or false. I, Darren Selvage, I can hang six spoons off of my face at the same time. True or false.

SPEAKER_01

I don't want to doubt you, Darren. But I'm I'm I'm I'm gonna say false. Okay, but I don't I'm I'm I'm hesitant to do so.

SPEAKER_00

What do you think? I think true. Eyebrows, cheeks, and then chin and nose.

SPEAKER_02

I don't hang them off my eyebrows. Yeah, right there. No, so I can hang a spoon off my chin, off my nose, off my two cheekbones, and two weird indentures on my forehead. All at the same time. All at the same time. Yeah, you're gonna have to prove it. There's photo, there's photo evidence of it out there somewhere.

SPEAKER_00

We're gonna try to prove it. We're gonna put a photo down in the description. Yeah.

SPEAKER_02

We'll go get some spoons here in just a second. Take a picture and you can put it in the description. All right. Yeah, so I can. That's a that's a hidden talent that I had underneath. Talent is a strong word, but yes. Man, oh goodness. We had a great weekend this past weekend, but it was a long day, Sunday, but it was a good day, I thought.

SPEAKER_01

It was a it was a good day. We it was uh we had a lot of things, a lot of activities, a lot of meetings, and so it was a long day, but it was good.

Obedience, James, And Taming The Tongue

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, lots going on. You you uh preached a great sermon. Um I just my mind, it was so great, my mind just went blank. It was so good, I don't even remember what it was.

SPEAKER_01

I took a lot of notes even. Our second measurement on discipleship. Yes, yeah.

SPEAKER_02

Am I living a life in obedience to the word of God? Right. Right. And so, man, it was it was really good just you know, thinking about Jesus' words. If you love me, you'll be you'll obey my commands. And then just you did a really good section about just our our words and if you know taming the tongue in there, being a doer of the word, right? Well, they're not my words. I took it from James, James chapter one. Yeah, yeah.

SPEAKER_01

So they're not exactly original thoughts, but good stuff though. Yeah, James James is just bare-knuckled. Here's here's your faith and in reality.

SPEAKER_02

And so you know, here's another okay, true false. Oh gosh. The Epistle James, you Bob, you probably know this. The Epistle James, um Luther wanted it in the canon, or is is that true or false?

SPEAKER_01

Luther was not a fan, if I remember right. Yeah, Martin Luther.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, he was not a fan. Yeah, he did not want James in the canon. He thought it was too Jewish. That literally, that's his words.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah. Yeah. Wow, he he had some issues in that.

SPEAKER_02

Another great leader who's a flawed. Man, crazy, crazy. Yeah. No, but then we had uh a first impressions interest meeting, uh trying to help people find their calling to ministry here, uh, helping people uh get plugged in here. So that was a that was a good good meeting. Such an important ministry, too.

SPEAKER_01

I was I was telling the team yesterday and those that are involved and being interested in it. Um when we're trying to accomplish our mission of connecting people to a thriving life, I would say first impressions is one of the most important, if not the most important, in accomplishing that mission. Right. Because most people make up their mind about a church within the first five minutes of getting onto property before they've ever heard a note of a song or heard a word of a sermon. They've already determined this is a place that is comfortable, this is a place that is friendly, this is a place that's inviting. And so it is vitally important that that first impressions ministry. So we're just trying to get more folks to plug in and see that it's not just shaking hands and smiling. It it's it really is a vitally important part of our mission.

First Impressions And Membership Pathways

SPEAKER_02

I mean exactly. And it just goes hand in hand with our mission. I mean, it fits so well. You know, we're trying to help others connect to a thriving life in Christ. And if someone is turned off, not that we I mean, we understand the sovereignty of God, but I'm just but if we and we want to just help you connect. Yeah. So man, if you're interested in that, make sure you see Lauren Singleton. She's our connections ministry assistant, and uh just always need need folks to help us out there for sure. She does a great job. She does.

SPEAKER_01

And we had a first steps meeting that night, right? We did. We had first steps, which is our introduction to the church for folks interested in learning more about the church or becoming members. And so we had a great group last night. I think we had 11 uh interested, right? So yeah, it was a good meeting. Multi-generational folks from different countries were here.

SPEAKER_02

Um so that was it was really cool. It's crazy. I live in Tampa, but I'm from Springfield, Missouri. And there was a guy literally that that came who was from Springfield, Missouri last night. Not only that, we were the same graduating class, different high schools, and I he he lived in the neighborhood where I worked. So I guarantee you, when I was serving blizzards at the Dairy Queen as a teenager, I probably served a little blizzard or something too. Pretty crazy. That is small world. Pretty crazy, man. Yeah. So um we're gonna we've been doing a lot of true and false questions. Noted that today.

SPEAKER_01

You've asked a lot of true or false questions. There's something behind this.

SPEAKER_02

Yes, because we're gonna talk about truth. Oh we're gonna talk about truth. Bob, do you swear to tell the whole truth and nothing but the truth? So help you, God. Uh on this podcast. What is truth, Darren? Exactly. That's the words uh that uh that Pilate spoke to Jesus, right? Jesus or Pilate told asked Jesus those those same that same exact question. What is truth? A few weeks ago, two weeks ago, I guess, you got to uh speak to our collective, which is our college young adult age ministry, meets on Tuesday nights here, 7 p.m. in our chapel. Great time of worship, fellowship, and Bible study. But you got to speak to them, and that was uh Ben is going through our pastor to young adults, is going through a series about uh just clarity, you know, giving giving clarity on certain issues and one and the the topic that that we had uh a couple weeks ago that you had was truth. My assigned topic was truth. My assigned topic was truth, man. Did a great job, as always. Um if you could if you could say like if just to sum it up, right? I mean, yeah, yeah, like what is what is your definition of truth? What is truth?

SPEAKER_00

What is the definition of truth? What is truth?

SPEAKER_01

Simple question. Yeah. I mean honestly, truth is the quality of being accurate. The quality of being accurate. It's it's in contrast to being false. Right, exactly. So there is there are things that are true and there are things that are false. You were asking true or false questions before. They're either they're either true or they're false.

SPEAKER_02

They're either accurate or not.

Defining Truth And Why It Matters

SPEAKER_01

They're either accurate or they're false. They're they're they're they're not. So truth is the quality of being accurate, being genuine, uh, as opposed or contrasted to being false. And we live in a world that is rejecting this concept of truth. And that's the truth. That is the truth.

SPEAKER_02

Exactly. Uh I like there's a phrase that Francis uh Schaefer uses a lot. True truth. True truth. Can you define a word with a word? I mean what when when we say true truth, what what is he trying to say? Yeah, that seems redundant, doesn't it? Well, I think, you know, be because and you you hit on this, um you talked about the society and the culture that that we live in, and uh which is a very uh or you and I grew up in a very postmodern pluralistic pluralistic yeah, what what is that?

Pluralism Versus Relativism Explained

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, so so the the world you and I grew up in uh is a world that says there are many different beliefs, different ideas, different viewpoints, different air quote realities that we should all respect, right? So I have a viewpoint, you have a viewpoint, you can have your viewpoint, you're welcome to your viewpoint, right? I can have mine. Um but they don't necessarily have to both be true, right? So that that's pluralism, right? So that's that that leaves the door open for a concept of absolute truth. Right. Which absolute truth is just a truth that is real and and right to all people and all places at all times. No matter what. No matter what, right? It's it's universal, it's objective, it's constant. So truth is objective, it's not subjective, it doesn't come from inside of us. It doesn't depend on how I feel. It does not. It does not, and it's true. So we grew up in a in a in a time of pluralism where you could have your view and I can have mine, and fine. But we don't live in that world today. We we live in a world of relativism. Our children are being taught relativism, which says that this belief of this plurality of ideas, viewpoints, and quote realities should not only be respected, but be accepted as equally true. Um just be nice. It's insanity.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, it doesn't work. Cannot be true.

SPEAKER_01

Right, exactly. Yeah, the the law of non-contradiction. It can't be so there's there's the the the claim that there is no absolute truth. Just uh that claim itself Are you absolutely sure about it? Is an absolute truth claim. If you're saying there's no truth, then that's a truth claim, right? So it's contradictory in that regard. And then as you mentioned, you can't have two things that are equally that are opposed to each other that are equally true. That's non-contradiction. You can't do that. And so, but our our our children, our students, our young adults are being raised to say you have to accept somebody else's their truth as equally true.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, there's a phrase that it's been a little while, but I mean it's that's come around, you know, you've got to live your truth, your truth, you've got to live in your truth. What's true for you may not be true for for me. What's the problem with that kind of saying?

Absolute Truth And Non-Contradiction

SPEAKER_01

It's subjective, yeah. Right. It it's based on feeling or experience, not on an objectively uh observable, that's redundant, um actuality. Right, right. So yeah, uh that there are truths in the world, right? There are physical realities in the world, right? There are physical laws in the world that we all recognize, we all acknowledge every day, we live under them every day. Right. Gravity being one, that is a physical law, the law of gravity. We we see it, we experience it, we feel it. Uh there are other laws that are in physical laws, but there's also spiritual laws that have been placed. Right, exactly. By the way, by the same person who created the physical laws, author of both of them, right? Exactly. There are spiritual laws that are in place as well. Um, so there is absolute truth in the world. The question is, where does it come from? That was my next question.

SPEAKER_02

So, how do we know what is true? How do how where does this truth come from? Yeah. Right. So where do you think?

SPEAKER_01

Well, you got any? Well, let's let's throw this out. John 14, Jesus said, right? Yeah. So he's describing to the disciples that he's gonna go away and um they that one day he's gonna return and take them to where he's gonna be, and they say, We don't know where you're going. How can we find a way? Right. And and Jesus said, I am the way. I'm the way. I am the truth, I am the life. No man comes into the Father but by me. That is an absolute truth claim from Jesus. That's either absolutely true or it's not, right?

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, it can't be okay. Someone said Jesus is either God and Lord, or he's a he's or he's a liar. Right. Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

Exactly. So he's he he's either speaking truth there or he's lying, or he's deluded, right? So which one is it? And it can't be, well, I can I can trust Jesus here, but I also can trust whoever over here, right? I can put my faith in Jesus, but I can also bring along these other religions. Jesus said, No, no, I'm not a truth. He said, I am the truth. No man comes to the Father but by me. This is the only way. That's either true or it's false.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

So how do we know it's true?

SPEAKER_02

That's a good question. How do we so gee, like you said, Jesus said, I am the way, the truth, the life, the truth you know, we believe as a person, true Jesus Christ. Um I another part, one of the another thing that he said um was in a prayer for his disciples, right? Is is uh say he's praying to to John the Father, right? He says, Sanctify them with your truth, your word is truth. Yeah, yeah. Sanctify them in the word, your word is truth. Yeah, right. What it what's he praying for his disciples there?

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, so he he's wanting the disciples to be set apart by the truth that God has revealed because he is the author, he is the author of truth, uh, and he reveals that truth in his word. You take another step and you go to John chapter one. In the beginning was the word, and the word was with God, and the word was God, and the word became flesh and dwelt among us. So Jesus is that word who is truth to us that comes from the Father.

unknown

Yeah, yeah.

Jesus As The Truth And Scripture

SPEAKER_02

There's um so how do we then as believers, um how how do we just approach this as far as how do we how do we know what's really real spiritually? I mean, I think we're kind of answering, I think we've already answered this a little bit, but I just kind of want us to dig a little bit deeper. Sure. Um what um where do I go? Where's my source? I know Jesus says he's the truth, right? Um he's he's truth personified. He says his word is is truth. Where how do we where do we find this truth? Right.

SPEAKER_01

Well, I I think we have to filter everything through his revealed truth. So Jesus is the truth, he's then revealed that truth to us in his written word. And so everything is we're trying to figure out what's true, what's not true, what's real, what's not real, has to filter through the lens of scripture. Right, right. So that's that's the starting point.

SPEAKER_02

Psalm one nine. Well, I mean he says your word is true. Jesus says your word is true. Psalm 119, I think two or three, three different times at least in there, he says, Your your law is truth, your command is truth. Right. The sum, I think it's one verse 160, the sum of all your word is truth. Right? Yeah. So again, that's why it is the filter um that that we take everything to. Um why does why does why is God's word true? Let me just ask you that.

SPEAKER_01

I mean, which you know Yeah, well, because God cannot lie, it's against his character, and he is he is truth, and so his word therefore is true. Um Jesus is truth, he is the word, therefore it is true. And I know that because Jesus said they're gonna they're gonna kill me, and three days later I'm gonna conquer to the grave, I'm coming back. And he did, right? And so the resurrection verifies the truth of of his word.

Can We Trust The Bible

SPEAKER_02

I heard something today I thought was really interesting. Um if the if the cross or the crucifixion or the death of Jesus was the payment for your sin, the resurrection is the receipt. You know, I thought I like that. I've not I've not heard that before. It's probably been out there a while. I hadn't heard it before, but I thought that was really good. That's how you know it's true. I've got the receipt, right? You know, the young people these days they call their text messages, I got the receipts, man. I know you said this because I got the receipts. You know, it and so we they they know it's true because they have the receipt. They have the proof. The resurrection is the receipt. Yeah. Resurrection is the receipt. He did exactly what he said he would do. He is exactly who he said he he was. And just I mean, it's kind of even other ways. I mean, I was looking at some some stuff online about other ancient texts and just the sheer amount of textual proof that we have of just the even just the New Testament. I think over 50,000 pieces or partials or full uh manuscripts. Yeah. Yeah, there's no comparison. Very close, very close to the original, and nothing else even comes close to the textual uh uh evidence of it being existence for sure.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah. So no, the Bible is is trustworthy. Right. Yeah.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah. And I think most of our most of our audience probably believes that, knows that. Um so what does that mean though for us as believers?

Revelation: From Creation To Christ

SPEAKER_01

Well, most most of our audience probably does, but most of the people they rub up against do not, right? So um Carl Barth was said that there's two ways to try to attain knowledge about God. We're trying to figure out God, and everybody is. They don't know that they are, but they're trying to figure out God. There's this God sized hold that we're trying to figure out, and we're drawn towards him. So you either start with human knowledge and you reason upward, um, in which case you're always going to fall short because finite minds can't figure out the infinite. Um, and thus we have religion, yeah, thus we have every cultural. In the world worships something because we're starting with man trying to reason upward, realizing there's something bigger than us, there's something more powerful than us. And so we try to start with man and reason upward, but when you do, you always fall short. So the only other option then is to allow God to reveal himself to us, which he has done. He has done in creation, he has done in pastimes through prophecies and angels and uh different messengers. Um, and then he has revealed himself perfectly in Jesus Christ, right? Who is the exact representation of God, uh, and then he has recorded that for us in in scripture. So he has revealed himself to us. You mentioned Psalm 119 before. You see the general revelation of God in Psalm 19, the heavens are declaring the glory of God, and then you see the specific revelation of God where he uses words and he says that the law is perfect in all of these things that follow that you mentioned earlier.

SPEAKER_02

That's good. That's good. And I think it how does that how does that give us confidence as believers that God has revealed him? You know, I think we have to, I think it's Al Muller who said, and maybe it wasn't him originally, but someone said, you know, we have to answer two questions. Is there a God? And there there we can say that that there is, and has he spoken? And we can say he has. And so what does that mean for us? If there is a God and he has spoken, what does that tell us, man?

Culture Clash And Reality Checks

SPEAKER_01

We need to listen. We better listen, right? We need to listen. And and his truth is for his glory and for our good, right? He's telling us these things. We may not like the truth, right, but it is for our good. Right. And so, yes, um, when he speaks, we we should listen. We better listen up. And yet Romans teaches us that out of our own arrogance, man has suppressed the truth, right? And so God has clearly revealed himself to man. And yet through our pride, through our sin, through our arrogance, we suppress what we see and we pursue the creature the creation rather than the creator.

unknown

Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

Um, thus we start to worship our own gods and create gods of our own liking, creates gods that are less uncomfortable for us, yeah, less demanding upon us.

SPEAKER_02

You know what? And I think we're starting to see some of the cracks in this not in this relativistic type of argument, right? Not not so I mean some of them are pretty large fissures right now. Yeah. Um and it's interesting to me just kind of sit back and watch and listen. Um there's you know, there's a lot of people, uh, especially younger folks, younger men in particular in their early twenties that are um coming back to the church. And there's a a new phrase that's kind of going around that I that I've heard called uh it's because they're reality respecters. Which I thought is a that's a good way and to a good way to think, think about it. I think we've the relativism will just break down because of the like like we said, that the law of non-contradiction. It just doesn't make sense. It doesn't make sense over time. You're seeing that in the English language, um, with and I I I think where I'm going, I think is I I think you do there's the clearest place I think you see this in our society today is the LGBTQ plus movement. Um and the English language doesn't even make sense now. Uh yeah you're using plural pronouns, uh just all kinds of stuff. Like it just and so people we when they're writing stories or or addressing people, they don't even know it it it's it's untenable, right?

Living By God’s Design

SPEAKER_01

Um and I think people are getting tired of having to do the the somersaults and the gymnastics. The gymnastics to to to to go along with it. And and when for most people all along they're like, this has never made sense to me from a just from a logical standpoint. Either the the everybody knows there are things that are true and there are things that are false. Exactly. And so being forced into accepting someone else's quote truth, yeah, I think people are just getting tired of it. Yeah. We got a long way to go. Don't get me wrong. We still we still live in this society and it's still gonna be it's still gonna be pushed in this direction, but we we have to help people come to the reality of truth and and who the source of that truth is. Right. Right, exactly right.

SPEAKER_02

And I think uh creation itself is showing us that. Um and then again, this is just breaking down, and I don't want to just stand on this soapbox, but just I it's funny to me in America. I mean, it's it's you're starting to see it in the locker room. That that's where it's just untenable. Sure, right? You you have no one wants a biological male in their daughter's high school locker room, you know, and it just and and I think that's what it's taken for folks in our country, our society to kind of finally say, finally stop suppressing some of the truth, right? And so going if there is a God and He has spoken, we're maybe some people are finally starting to listen a little bit.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, oftentimes I think people give and give and give and give ground and give ground in areas where they don't feel it immediately impacting them. Right. They're like, fine, if that if you want that to be your truth, if that's what you want to think, that's fine. But when it starts getting closer to home and it starts impacting ourselves or those around us, folks are starting to go, okay, we there's a line in the sand and we we we're gonna draw it now and we're gonna we're not gonna pet.

Confidence, Evidence, And Prophecy

SPEAKER_02

Yeah. And I think just a and we obviously this is not gonna be exhaustive, but and we gotta wrap it up pretty quick. But just if if there is a God and we know that there is, and he has spoken through his son and through his word, and so we better listen. If he designed everything, he knows how everything works, right? He knows what's best for human flourishing, he's he's designed it that way. So we better listen to him, and we better listen to him about how we relate to him, you know, and he's given us everything we need in his word. Um, and so every experience that we have, every going back to what you said earlier, we take that back to to the word of God and let that measure measure everything and let it be the standard, not our feelings or our culture or our peers or whatever, right?

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, absolutely. Yeah, and and I we would always keep pointing people back to the Bible. And and if folks are listening, I would encourage you to do some research on the veracity of the Bible, the the the truthfulness of the Bible, the authenticity of the Bible.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

Uh there is a lot of good research out there. You were mentioning some of the statistics earlier. There there's no comparison to any other ancient uh manuscript, secular or sacred, that even comes close. We and we have no problem accepting every other book. Nobody ever questions it. No, right? Yeah. Yeah. The Iliad and the Odyssey. We have like two copies, and nobody ever questions. No one questions those. Yeah. But yeah, so do some research on that. I would also encourage you to do research on who Jesus is.

SPEAKER_02

Right.

Right. Who did Jesus say he was? What did Jesus do that that proves he is who he claimed to be? He forgave sins, he had authority over uh nature and disease and demons and death. Right. Um he fulfilled prophecy. Um that's an interesting study. Yeah. Look up, look, look up the the the the percentages that was the possibilities of Jesus fulfilling all the prophecies of the R.

Speak The Truth In Love And Closing

SPEAKER_02

When you showed some of the visuals of that the the other night, that was really cool. Um, yeah, there's there's some great studies out there. And I think it gives us just great confidence as believers, is in in we have the truth in his word, and and we know without you know beyond a shadow of a doubt that Jesus is who he says he is because of what he's done in our hearts, right? And what he's done in our lives and and what he said he he would do, and he's he's done it. And so that gives me it as a believer, it gives me great confidence to know that I'm walking in what's really real. Yes, right, and and what's true. Yeah. All right, true or false, Jordan.

SPEAKER_01

Oh boy. Bring Jordan back in.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah. Uh this is in an answer to a question that we had. So someone someone asked if uh they just asked who's older, Bob or Darren. Oh my goodness. So true or false, Darren is the oldest of Bob and Darren.

SPEAKER_00

True.

SPEAKER_02

I'm not asking you, Bob, because I know I know the answer to this one. It's actually false. Just barely, really. It's like I think you're two months. Not even two months. Yeah. Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

But I am older. I'm the oldest guy in the room right now. I look older, but Bobby. I don't know about that. I don't know about that. I have much more gray hair.

SPEAKER_02

Yours is just more concentrated.

SPEAKER_01

Mine's spread out a little bit more. Yeah, man.

SPEAKER_02

Well, is anything else that you'd want to share about about truth?

SPEAKER_01

I just finished be confident in truth. If you know the truth, be confident in the truth. But also remember that scripture teaches us to speak the truth in love. So let's not be arrogant. Don't let truth puff us up. Right. We ought to be humbled by it. Knowledge puffs up, right? Yep.

SPEAKER_02

But love builds up.

SPEAKER_01

Exactly.

SPEAKER_02

So speak the truth in love.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah.
