something"},{"startTime":235.08,"endTime":236.55,"body":"that was happening"},{"startTime":236.55,"endTime":238.92,"body":"within our families and"},{"startTime":236.55,"endTime":238.92,"body":"within our communities,"},{"startTime":238.92,"endTime":241.953,"body":"and it was hitting all of"},{"startTime":238.92,"endTime":241.953,"body":"us at very different individuals and"},{"startTime":251.31,"endTime":254.01,"body":"confirmed cases of COVID-19."},{"startTime":254.01,"endTime":255.24,"body":"And they may not be all the numbers,"},{"startTime":255.24,"endTime":258.202,"body":"because not everybody is"},{"startTime":255.24,"endTime":258.202,"body":"tested and not all the numbers"},{"startTime":258.202,"endTime":261.6,"body":"are available to us."},{"startTime":261.6,"endTime":263.61,"body":"But that's a huge number of people"},{"startTime":263.61,"endTime":265.92,"body":"who have been affected worldwide"},{"startTime":265.92,"endTime":268.11,"body":"with this devastating even"},{"startTime":304.44,"endTime":308.97,"body":"Eastern Mediterranean Africa."},{"startTime":308.97,"endTime":311.28,"body":"We talk about it having"},{"startTime":308.97,"endTime":311.28,"body":"less numbers of COVID,"},{"startTime":311.28,"endTime":312.87,"body":"but did it, did it not,"},{"startTime":312.87,"endTime":315.323,"body":"you have"},{"startTime":333.3,"endTime":335.07,"body":"lived with your families,"},{"startTime":335.07,"endTime":338.34,"body":"some of you will have actually moved away"},{"startTime":338.34,"endTime":341.76,"body":"and had to live alone and had"},{"startTime":338.34,"endTime":341.76,"body":"to segregate yourselves off"},{"startTime":341.76,"endTime":345.48,"body":"from loved ones to really"},{"startTime":341.76,"endTime":345.48,"body":"protect yourselves."},{"startTime":345.48,"endTime":347.82,"body":"But take yourself back,"},{"startTime":345.48,"endTime":347.82,"body":"how did that make you feel"},{"startTime":347.82,"endTime":349.83,"body":"and how does it make you feel talk"},{"startTime":368.55,"endTime":370.59,"body":"about bereavement very much,"},{"startTime":370.59,"endTime":374.43,"body":"it's something that we're"},{"startTime":370.59,"endTime":374.43,"body":"strong about and we move on."},{"startTime":374.43,"endTime":377.64,"body":"So 90% of countries"},{"startTime":374.43,"endTime":377.64,"body":"are still reporting one"},{"startTime":377.64,"endTime":380.61,"body":"or more disruptions to health services."},{"startTime":380.61,"endTime":383.007,"body":"And this means that individuals"},{"startTime":383.007,"endTime":383.84,"body":"are not getting the services we need."},{"startTime":383.84,"endTime":384.993,"body":"I'm a pediatrician,"},{"startTime":385.997,"endTime":389.01,"body":"and I know that children"},{"startTime":385.997,"endTime":389.01,"body":"today can still not get"},{"startTime":389.01,"endTime":390.24,"body":"the services they need."},{"startTime":390.24,"endTime":393.18,"body":"There's still a backlog"},{"startTime":390.24,"endTime":393.18,"body":"of services for children"},{"startTime":393.18,"endTime":394.17,"body":"with down syndrome,"},{"startTime":394.17,"endTime":395.94,"body":"services for speech and language therapy,"},{"startTime":395.94,"endTime":397.92,"body":"services for physiotherapy."},{"startTime":397.92,"endTime":401.22,"body":"So most of the world cannot"},{"startTime":397.92,"endTime":401.22,"body":"be seen by the people"},{"startTime":401.22,"endTime":402.45,"body":"they should be seen by,"},{"startTime":402.45,"endTime":404.22,"body":"which means that you're going to have"},{"startTime":404.22,"endTime":406.2,"body":"a knock on effect on all our health."},{"startTime":406.2,"endTime":407.58,"body":"So you have the COVID,"},{"startTime":407.58,"endTime":409.8,"body":"and then the double whammy of COVID,"},{"startTime":409.8,"endTime":411.12,"body":"plus the other illnesses,"},{"startTime":411.12,"endTime":414.39,"body":"which is going to affect"},{"startTime":411.12,"endTime":414.39,"body":"all our lives going forward."},{"startTime":414.39,"endTime":415.38,"body":"And in the Philippines,"},{"startTime":415.38,"endTime":418.17,"body":"we know that about 76% of all small"},{"startTime":418.17,"endTime":421.32,"body":"and medium sized businesses"},{"startTime":418.17,"endTime":421.32,"body":"were forced to close."},{"startTime":421.32,"endTime":425.43,"body":"And we now have the second"},{"startTime":421.32,"endTime":425.43,"body":"problem of the crisis"},{"startTime":425.43,"endTime":426.87,"body":"that we're in at the moment."},{"startTime":426.87,"endTime":428.673,"body":"And if we're in a crisis of illness,"},{"startTime":430.357,"endTime":432.24,"body":"and an economic crisis,"},{"startTime":430.357,"endTime":432.24,"body":"and poverty crisis,"},{"startTime":432.24,"endTime":435.453,"body":"we have all of that to"},{"startTime":432.24,"endTime":435.453,"body":"contend with at the same time."},{"startTime":436.68,"endTime":439.89,"body":"The UK did try and have there was some money going into that."},{"startTime":443.58,"endTime":446.04,"body":"But how long can that pot of money retain"},{"startTime":446.04,"endTime":448.53,"body":"and how long will people"},{"startTime":446.04,"endTime":448.53,"body":"be remaining in their jobs"},{"startTime":448.53,"endTime":449.79,"body":"before they lose them?"},{"startTime":449.79,"endTime":451.44,"body":"So things were put in place,"},{"startTime":451.44,"endTime":453.39,"body":"but things are now being taken away,"},{"startTime":453.39,"endTime":455.34,"body":"and that has an impact"},{"startTime":453.39,"endTime":455.34,"body":"on our mental health"},{"startTime":455.34,"endTime":457.023,"body":"and our physical health as well."},{"startTime":458.31,"endTime":460.92,"body":"And I'll come to talk a little"},{"startTime":458.31,"endTime":460.92,"body":"bit about mental health,"},{"startTime":460.92,"endTime":463.32,"body":"because mental health is a"},{"startTime":460.92,"endTime":463.32,"body":"big, big factor for us all,"},{"startTime":463.32,"endTime":465.84,"body":"which again, we are not"},{"startTime":463.32,"endTime":465.84,"body":"really talking a lot about."},{"startTime":465.84,"endTime":468.63,"body":"But just some studies in"},{"startTime":465.84,"endTime":468.63,"body":"Africa actually showed us"},{"startTime":468.63,"endTime":471.33,"body":"that girls particularly found it very,"},{"startTime":471.33,"endTime":473.16,"body":"very hard during COVID,"},{"startTime":473.16,"endTime":475.23,"body":"and subsequently to get"},{"startTime":473.16,"endTime":475.23,"body":"the emotional support"},{"startTime":475.23,"endTime":476.13,"body":"that they needed."},{"startTime":476.13,"endTime":477.69,"body":"They felt very left alone,"},{"startTime":477.69,"endTime":481.38,"body":"very just set aside, were becoming carers,"},{"startTime":481.38,"endTime":482.88,"body":"taking over caring roles more than,"},{"startTime":482.88,"endTime":485.25,"body":"probably the males in their families,"},{"startTime":485.25,"endTime":488.46,"body":"and really felt they weren't"},{"startTime":485.25,"endTime":488.46,"body":"able to be educated either."},{"startTime":488.46,"endTime":490.53,"body":"And this is not just in Africa or Asia,"},{"startTime":490.53,"endTime":492.572,"body":"but actually here in the UK,"},{"startTime":492.572,"endTime":494.61,"body":"we've got some data on that as well."},{"startTime":494.61,"endTime":497.55,"body":"So we are trying to do something about it."},{"startTime":497.55,"endTime":499.71,"body":"We have set up long COVID clinic,"},{"startTime":499.71,"endTime":502.44,"body":"there are long COVID clinics in the UK,"},{"startTime":502.44,"endTime":504.21,"body":"but this isn't reaching everybody."},{"startTime":504.21,"endTime":505.86,"body":"And of course the long COVID clinics,"},{"startTime":505.86,"endTime":508.56,"body":"our challenge will be for"},{"startTime":505.86,"endTime":508.56,"body":"people who've been diagnosed"},{"startTime":508.56,"endTime":510.81,"body":"with long COVID and who"},{"startTime":508.56,"endTime":510.81,"body":"have medical really"},{"startTime":677.97,"endTime":681.75,"body":"affected by COVID the most."},{"startTime":681.75,"endTime":685.53,"body":"And within that, you'll see"},{"startTime":681.75,"endTime":685.53,"body":"that there are stark differences"},{"startTime":685.53,"endTime":687.09,"body":"in the fact that the Black African"},{"startTime":687.09,"endTime":688.41,"body":"and the Bangladeshi communities,"},{"startTime":688.41,"endTime":689.97,"body":"much more than anybody else,"},{"startTime":689.97,"endTime":693.3,"body":"were really affected by COVID at the time."},{"startTime":693.3,"endTime":696.66,"body":"And this ethnic disparity continues today."},{"startTime":696.66,"endTime":700.05,"body":"And it continues because of all the other,"},{"startTime":700.05,"endTime":700.883,"body":"we talk about overcrowding,"},{"startTime":700.883,"endTime":702.45,"body":"we talk about the jobs"},{"startTime":700.883,"endTime":702.45,"body":"people we're having,"},{"startTime":702.45,"endTime":704.85,"body":"we talk about how they"},{"startTime":702.45,"endTime":704.85,"body":"were accessing healthcare,"},{"startTime":704.85,"endTime":709.38,"body":"and so people actually A,"},{"startTime":704.85,"endTime":709.38,"body":"were getting the virus,"},{"startTime":709.38,"endTime":711.72,"body":"B, ethnically were at"},{"startTime":709.38,"endTime":711.72,"body":"more risk of the virus,"},{"startTime":711.72,"endTime":714.6,"body":"and C, were actually had the"},{"startTime":711.72,"endTime":714.6,"body":"knock on effects of the virus,"},{"startTime":714.6,"endTime":718.98,"body":"and many were losing different"},{"startTime":714.6,"endTime":718.98,"body":"ages of family members,"},{"startTime":718.98,"endTime":721.71,"body":"from young children to"},{"startTime":718.98,"endTime":721.71,"body":"really the elderly as well,"},{"startTime":721.71,"endTime":723.84,"body":"and generations were being lost."},{"startTime":723.84,"endTime":725.88,"body":"But again, it's something that"},{"startTime":723.84,"endTime":725.88,"body":"we sort of don't talk about,"},{"startTime":725.88,"endTime":728.31,"body":"something we don't discuss,"},{"startTime":728.31,"endTime":729.93,"body":"how are people coping with the loss"},{"startTime":729.93,"endTime":732.33,"body":"and the death of different"},{"startTime":729.93,"endTime":732.33,"body":"people in the family?"},{"startTime":734.55,"endTime":736.65,"body":"So this was a study which"},{"startTime":734.55,"endTime":736.65,"body":"was actually talking"},{"startTime":736.65,"endTime":739.059,"body":"about vaccine uptake, and"},{"startTime":736.65,"endTime":739.059,"body":"I'm sure a lot of the people"},{"startTime":739.059,"endTime":740.7,"body":"will be interested in vaccines,"},{"startTime":740.7,"endTime":742.29,"body":"because that's always a hot topic,"},{"startTime":742.29,"endTime":744.75,"body":"should we have vaccines,"},{"startTime":742.29,"endTime":744.75,"body":"shouldn't we have vaccines?"},{"startTime":744.75,"endTime":747.69,"body":"Who should have vaccines,"},{"startTime":744.75,"endTime":747.69,"body":"who shouldn't have vaccines?"},{"startTime":747.69,"endTime":749.31,"body":"And when we talk about inequalities,"},{"startTime":749.31,"endTime":750.88,"body":"there is quite a big inequality"},{"startTime":751.725,"endTime":753.57,"body":"in the fact that people"},{"startTime":758.97,"endTime":762.39,"body":"couldn't access the vaccines?"},{"startTime":762.39,"endTime":765.93,"body":"Was it because there was a"},{"startTime":762.39,"endTime":765.93,"body":"mistrust of the vaccines?"},{"startTime":765.93,"endTime":769.86,"body":"And was it because they just, you know,"},{"startTime":769.86,"endTime":771.75,"body":"the way the families were set up"},{"startTime":771.75,"endTime":774.15,"body":"didn't allow you to access the vaccines."},{"startTime":774.15,"endTime":775.17,"body":"So if you think of it,"},{"startTime":775.17,"endTime":776.85,"body":"if you are in an extended family"},{"startTime":776.85,"endTime":778.41,"body":"and they're multiple people,"},{"startTime":778.41,"endTime":781.14,"body":"and you've been told only one"},{"startTime":778.41,"endTime":781.14,"body":"person can go for that vaccine"},{"startTime":781.14,"endTime":784.56,"body":"at a time, how do you"},{"startTime":781.14,"endTime":784.56,"body":"actually leave your family"},{"startTime":784.56,"endTime":786.69,"body":"to go and get that vaccine"},{"startTime":784.56,"endTime":786.69,"body":"when everybody else is at home?"},{"startTime":786.69,"endTime":788.61,"body":"So the vaccines were not done as families,"},{"startTime":788.61,"endTime":790.5,"body":"they were done as individual people,"},{"startTime":790.5,"endTime":792.51,"body":"and that restricted people."},{"startTime":792.51,"endTime":795.63,"body":"Also you'll see from the"},{"startTime":792.51,"endTime":795.63,"body":"different ethnic diversities,"},{"startTime":795.63,"endTime":797.49,"body":"many of those people"},{"startTime":795.63,"endTime":797.49,"body":"were people who may be"},{"startTime":797.49,"endTime":801.3,"body":"in frontline jobs where they're"},{"startTime":797.49,"endTime":801.3,"body":"either in the hospitals,"},{"startTime":801.3,"endTime":802.89,"body":"or porters, or taxi drivers,"},{"startTime":802.89,"endTime":805.62,"body":"or whatever it is, and they"},{"startTime":802.89,"endTime":805.62,"body":"were not able to give up"},{"startTime":805.62,"endTime":808.05,"body":"their jobs and the time to go"},{"startTime":805.62,"endTime":808.05,"body":"and get their vaccines at all."},{"startTime":808.05,"endTime":810.15,"body":"So again, there's a disparity."},{"startTime":810.15,"endTime":811.35,"body":"But the message that was given out"},{"startTime":811.35,"endTime":814.293,"body":"was people didn't want them,"},{"startTime":811.35,"endTime":814.293,"body":"which was not quite true."},{"startTime":815.82,"endTime":818.596,"body":"Also, there were more hospital deaths"},{"startTime":818.596,"endTime":821.76,"body":"for Black and Caribbean families."},{"startTime":821.76,"endTime":824.16,"body":"And what people are now"},{"startTime":821.76,"endTime":824.16,"body":"understanding is that there"},{"startTime":824.16,"endTime":827.61,"body":"is a definite difference in"},{"startTime":824.16,"endTime":827.61,"body":"the way the virus would attack"},{"startTime":827.61,"endTime":831.3,"body":"different ethnic backgrounds"},{"startTime":827.61,"endTime":831.3,"body":"and how that would affect them,"},{"startTime":831.3,"endTime":833.403,"body":"and even today with long COVID."},{"startTime":835.543,"endTime":836.7,"body":"And we talk about housing."},{"startTime":836.7,"endTime":839.13,"body":"So I dunno, many of us would,"},{"startTime":839.13,"endTime":842.22,"body":"like I said, we have the luxury"},{"startTime":839.13,"endTime":842.22,"body":"of being in very nice homes,"},{"startTime":842.22,"endTime":846.09,"body":"but most people in the world"},{"startTime":842.22,"endTime":846.09,"body":"actually lack basic sanitation."},{"startTime":846.09,"endTime":848.58,"body":"They don't have water, they"},{"startTime":846.09,"endTime":848.58,"body":"were not able to clean,"},{"startTime":848.58,"endTime":850.35,"body":"they were not able to isolate."},{"startTime":850.35,"endTime":854.16,"body":"So you can see in 60 countries"},{"startTime":850.35,"endTime":854.16,"body":"identified by UNICEF,"},{"startTime":854.16,"endTime":856.71,"body":"they had the highest risk of"},{"startTime":854.16,"endTime":856.71,"body":"health and nutrition crisis"},{"startTime":856.71,"endTime":859.26,"body":"due to COVID-19,"},{"startTime":859.26,"endTime":863.07,"body":"and two out of three people,"},{"startTime":859.26,"endTime":863.07,"body":"that's one billion in total,"},{"startTime":863.07,"endTime":865.41,"body":"still lack basic hand"},{"startTime":863.07,"endTime":865.41,"body":"washing facilities with soap"},{"startTime":865.41,"endTime":866.52,"body":"and water at home."},{"startTime":866.52,"endTime":870.54,"body":"So all of these recommendations"},{"startTime":866.52,"endTime":870.54,"body":"that we've given out,"},{"startTime":870.54,"endTime":871.62,"body":"you should do X, Y, Z,"},{"startTime":871.62,"endTime":874.44,"body":"even in this country,"},{"startTime":871.62,"endTime":874.44,"body":"actually nearly impossible"},{"startTime":874.44,"endTime":875.883,"body":"for many of these families."},{"startTime":877.44,"endTime":879.84,"body":"People living in poor housing conditions"},{"startTime":879.84,"endTime":884.01,"body":"and people who are in poor"},{"startTime":879.84,"endTime":884.01,"body":"housing conditions, about 50%,"},{"startTime":884.01,"endTime":886.26,"body":"they have a high risk of COVID incidents,"},{"startTime":886.26,"endTime":888.6,"body":"and 42% high risk of COVID death."},{"startTime":888.6,"endTime":892.92,"body":"So we've got huge numbers"},{"startTime":888.6,"endTime":892.92,"body":"of people who actually died,"},{"startTime":892.92,"endTime":894.54,"body":"were ill, were in hospital,"},{"startTime":894.54,"endTime":895.83,"body":"or lost their jobs,"},{"startTime":895.83,"endTime":898.32,"body":"or actually were left"},{"startTime":895.83,"endTime":898.32,"body":"behind with their education,"},{"startTime":898.32,"endTime":900.78,"body":"who we don't know how"},{"startTime":898.32,"endTime":900.78,"body":"people will now catch up"},{"startTime":900.78,"endTime":902.78,"body":"and how we're going to deal with it all."},{"startTime":904.02,"endTime":907.11,"body":"The frontline workers, even today we know"},{"startTime":907.11,"endTime":908.58,"body":"that some of the nurses and the doctors"},{"startTime":908.58,"endTime":910.77,"body":"and the hospitals are still off COVID,"},{"startTime":917.16,"endTime":920.46,"body":"despite vaccination,"},{"startTime":920.46,"endTime":922.32,"body":"but also then they have to stay off work"},{"startTime":922.32,"endTime":924.21,"body":"and getting long COVID as well."},{"startTime":924.21,"endTime":925.14,"body":"And with the long COVID,"},{"startTime":925.14,"endTime":927.66,"body":"you get all the symptoms"},{"startTime":925.14,"endTime":927.66,"body":"we'll talk about in a minute."},{"startTime":927.66,"endTime":930.48,"body":"But they were not just"},{"startTime":927.66,"endTime":930.48,"body":"frontline health workers,"},{"startTime":930.48,"endTime":931.41,"body":"as I've mentioned, there were many,"},{"startTime":931.41,"endTime":933.18,"body":"many other people."},{"startTime":933.18,"endTime":935.37,"body":"And there was a study"},{"startTime":933.18,"endTime":935.37,"body":"in the Pacific region,"},{"startTime":935.37,"endTime":938.52,"body":"which showed that people were"},{"startTime":935.37,"endTime":938.52,"body":"getting physical exhaustion"},{"startTime":938.52,"endTime":940.35,"body":"as well as mental health challenges."},{"startTime":940.35,"endTime":942.42,"body":"So we have a huge workforce"},{"startTime":942.42,"endTime":944.22,"body":"who are actually out"},{"startTime":942.42,"endTime":944.22,"body":"there on the frontline"},{"startTime":944.22,"endTime":945.96,"body":"who are absolutely shattered from the work"},{"startTime":945.96,"endTime":946.83,"body":"that they were doing,"},{"startTime":946.83,"endTime":949.89,"body":"and have never been given that"},{"startTime":946.83,"endTime":949.89,"body":"time to really just regroup,"},{"startTime":949.89,"endTime":950.88,"body":"get healthy again,"},{"startTime":950.88,"endTime":952.83,"body":"before they're back in"},{"startTime":950.88,"endTime":952.83,"body":"the workforce again."},{"startTime":952.83,"endTime":956.67,"body":"And this constant feeling of"},{"startTime":952.83,"endTime":956.67,"body":"exhaustion and being like,"},{"startTime":956.67,"endTime":960.7,"body":"just trying to get out"},{"startTime":956.67,"endTime":960.7,"body":"of being buried under"},{"startTime":961.957,"endTime":964.886,"body":"all of this feeling of lack"},{"startTime":961.957,"endTime":964.886,"body":"of hope of what's going"},{"startTime":964.886,"endTime":966.648,"body":"to happen, means we're losing staff,"},{"startTime":966.648,"endTime":967.481,"body":"we're losing doctors, we're losing nurses,"},{"startTime":967.481,"endTime":968.973,"body":"we're losing frontline people."},{"startTime":972.6,"endTime":973.92,"body":"So what are the health well,"},{"startTime":997.41,"endTime":999.42,"body":"you are more likely to A, get COVID,"},{"startTime":999.42,"endTime":1001.913,"body":"but also more likely"},{"startTime":999.42,"endTime":1001.913,"body":"to die from it as well."},{"startTime":1002.96,"endTime":1004.07,"body":"It's not surprising, is studies,"},{"startTime":1096.2,"endTime":1097.49,"body":"but we haven't really talked to women,"},{"startTime":1097.49,"endTime":1100.202,"body":"how does this actually impact on how you"},{"startTime":1100.202,"endTime":1101.84,"body":"are going to have your next baby?"},{"startTime":1101.84,"endTime":1105.47,"body":"Will it impact on the women's fear"},{"startTime":1105.47,"endTime":1106.43,"body":"next time they have a baby?"},{"startTime":1106.43,"endTime":1108.05,"body":"Will they want to have another very,"},{"startTime":1121.072,"endTime":1125.72,"body":"very frightened, and"},{"startTime":1121.072,"endTime":1125.72,"body":"everything they had hoped for"},{"startTime":1125.72,"endTime":1127.64,"body":"through giving birth, pregnancy,"},{"startTime":1127.64,"endTime":1129.113,"body":"was really removed from them."},{"startTime":1130.723,"endTime":1134.36,"body":"I mean, I think the restrictions"},{"startTime":1130.723,"endTime":1134.36,"body":"were quite severe actually."},{"startTime":1134.36,"endTime":1136.64,"body":"But the other issue"},{"startTime":1134.36,"endTime":1136.64,"body":"that comes is the baby,"},{"startTime":1136.64,"endTime":1139.97,"body":"is within a mother, it's"},{"startTime":1136.64,"endTime":1139.97,"body":"within a mother's womb,"},{"startTime":1139.97,"endTime":1141.86,"body":"and that baby has to be born,"},{"startTime":1141.86,"endTime":1143.6,"body":"and probably obvious, I suppose,"},{"startTime":1143.6,"endTime":1146.96,"body":"but when that baby's born,"},{"startTime":1143.6,"endTime":1146.96,"body":"that emotional than"},{"startTime":1168.59,"endTime":1171.05,"body":"they should have been born,"},{"startTime":1171.05,"endTime":1173.33,"body":"higher risk of Cesarean sections,"},{"startTime":1173.33,"endTime":1176.693,"body":"higher risk of pre-labor problems,"},{"startTime":1178.19,"endTime":1180.2,"body":"still born babies increased,"},{"startTime":1180.2,"endTime":1182.0,"body":"and increased risk of"},{"startTime":1180.2,"endTime":1182.0,"body":"babies being admitted"},{"startTime":1182.0,"endTime":1183.74,"body":"to the neonatal intensive unit."},{"startTime":1183.74,"endTime":1185.69,"body":"So it wasn't just the pregnancy issues,"},{"startTime":1185.69,"endTime":1188.81,"body":"we have quite a large number"},{"startTime":1185.69,"endTime":1188.81,"body":"of babies who've been born,"},{"startTime":1188.81,"endTime":1190.01,"body":"who now are going to be at risk"},{"startTime":1190.01,"endTime":1192.503,"body":"for their own health"},{"startTime":1190.01,"endTime":1192.503,"body":"problems as they go forward."},{"startTime":1193.392,"endTime":1194.24,"body":"And again, nobody's really talking"},{"startTime":1194.24,"endTime":1197.392,"body":"about the legacy of COVID"},{"startTime":1194.24,"endTime":1197.392,"body":"for these young little babies"},{"startTime":1197.392,"endTime":1198.373,"body":"that have been were not found to be at"},{"startTime":1205.37,"endTime":1209.267,"body":"high risk of COVID infection,"},{"startTime":1209.267,"endTime":1211.55,"body":"and that means they"},{"startTime":1209.267,"endTime":1211.55,"body":"weren't at higher risk,"},{"startTime":1211.55,"endTime":1213.41,"body":"but if they got COVID infection,"},{"startTime":1213.41,"endTime":1215.06,"body":"then the problems that really ensued,"},{"startTime":1215.06,"endTime":1217.31,"body":"and they had the adverse"},{"startTime":1215.06,"endTime":1217.31,"body":"outcomes at the end."},{"startTime":1218.33,"endTime":1219.77,"body":"So we've talked about trauma"},{"startTime":1219.77,"endTime":1223.76,"body":"and now more and more"},{"startTime":1219.77,"endTime":1223.76,"body":"people are being trained"},{"startTime":1223.76,"endTime":1225.35,"body":"in trauma informed care."},{"startTime":1225.35,"endTime":1229.07,"body":"But I think we're going to"},{"startTime":1225.35,"endTime":1229.07,"body":"have quite a number of women"},{"startTime":1229.07,"endTime":1231.44,"body":"who actually have mental health problems,"},{"startTime":1231.44,"endTime":1233.48,"body":"emotional problems, anxiety,"},{"startTime":1233.48,"endTime":1236.03,"body":"and depression due to their experiences"},{"startTime":1236.03,"endTime":1238.58,"body":"of going through COVID"},{"startTime":1236.03,"endTime":1238.58,"body":"when they were pregnant,"},{"startTime":1238.58,"endTime":1239.96,"body":"losing that lack of support,"},{"startTime":1239.96,"endTime":1242.18,"body":"losing that lack of community support"},{"startTime":1242.18,"endTime":1244.23,"body":"that they thought they were going to get."},{"startTime":1246.35,"endTime":1248.3,"body":"So what about children?"},{"startTime":1248.3,"endTime":1251.27,"body":"Well, COVID has hit our children globally."},{"startTime":1251.27,"endTime":1253.01,"body":"It's hit children in the UK, and again,"},{"startTime":1253.01,"endTime":1254.39,"body":"not high on the agenda at all."},{"startTime":1254.39,"endTime":1256.1,"body":"And it's not surprising"},{"startTime":1254.39,"endTime":1256.1,"body":"that I'm advocating"},{"startTime":1256.1,"endTime":1258.53,"body":"here a lot for children and young people,"},{"startTime":1258.53,"endTime":1260.63,"body":"because I think that's my job to do that."},{"startTime":1260.63,"endTime":1263.0,"body":"But we had a huge problem with COVID,"},{"startTime":1263.0,"endTime":1265.82,"body":"the problem was numbers overall"},{"startTime":1265.82,"endTime":1268.07,"body":"were very small from"},{"startTime":1265.82,"endTime":1268.07,"body":"actually children dying."},{"startTime":1268.07,"endTime":1270.17,"body":"Not many children died of COVID,"},{"startTime":1270.17,"endTime":1271.58,"body":"and people were very focused"},{"startTime":1271.58,"endTime":1272.72,"body":"on the number of children were dying."},{"startTime":1272.72,"endTime":1275.06,"body":"So understandably, you're"},{"startTime":1272.72,"endTime":1275.06,"body":"going to think about,"},{"startTime":1275.06,"endTime":1276.5,"body":"how many people actually died?"},{"startTime":1276.5,"endTime":1278.96,"body":"But when you think about"},{"startTime":1276.5,"endTime":1278.96,"body":"how many children suffered"},{"startTime":1278.96,"endTime":1280.07,"body":"during COVID,"},{"startTime":1280.07,"endTime":1282.02,"body":"well then it is a very,"},{"startTime":1280.07,"endTime":1282.02,"body":"very different story."},{"startTime":1282.02,"endTime":1286.28,"body":"And that's why the repeated"},{"startTime":1282.02,"endTime":1286.28,"body":"thing about long COVID comes in."},{"startTime":1286.28,"endTime":1288.41,"body":"So we have about six to"},{"startTime":1286.28,"endTime":1288.41,"body":"seven million children"},{"startTime":1288.41,"endTime":1290.63,"body":"under five were wasted, malnourished,"},{"startTime":1290.63,"endTime":1293.87,"body":"couldn't get good food, were"},{"startTime":1290.63,"endTime":1293.87,"body":"not cared for in the same way"},{"startTime":1293.87,"endTime":1296.78,"body":"they would normally, they were"},{"startTime":1293.87,"endTime":1296.78,"body":"really hidden from society,"},{"startTime":1296.78,"endTime":1298.22,"body":"and they're still hidden from society,"},{"startTime":1298.22,"endTime":1299.573,"body":"even here in the UK."},{"startTime":1300.44,"endTime":1301.85,"body":"Due to COVID-19 measures,"},{"startTime":1301.85,"endTime":1304.1,"body":"18 million children under the age of 1"},{"startTime":1304.1,"endTime":1307.85,"body":"in at least 68 countries"},{"startTime":1304.1,"endTime":1307.85,"body":"actually didn't have vaccines"},{"startTime":1307.85,"endTime":1310.19,"body":"that they should have had,"},{"startTime":1307.85,"endTime":1310.19,"body":"these are their normal vaccines."},{"startTime":1310.19,"endTime":1312.2,"body":"And we know currently in the UK as well,"},{"startTime":1312.2,"endTime":1314.3,"body":"we have this continuing problem"},{"startTime":1314.3,"endTime":1316.31,"body":"where we have not picked"},{"startTime":1314.3,"endTime":1316.31,"body":"up all the children"},{"startTime":1316.31,"endTime":1318.14,"body":"who should have had their vaccines."},{"startTime":1318.14,"endTime":1320.51,"body":"So many missed opportunities."},{"startTime":1320.51,"endTime":1322.88,"body":"People are focusing on the COVID vaccines"},{"startTime":1322.88,"endTime":1324.5,"body":"and yet the normal routine vaccines"},{"startTime":1324.5,"endTime":1325.8,"body":"have actually been missed."},{"startTime":1326.693,"endTime":1329.72,"body":"Now what that means, some of you may have"},{"startTime":1329.72,"endTime":1332.81,"body":"heard polio is sort of"},{"startTime":1329.72,"endTime":1332.81,"body":"coming back again in the UK."},{"startTime":1332.81,"endTime":1334.73,"body":"Nobody would've ever thought of that."},{"startTime":1334.73,"endTime":1337.16,"body":"And if we can't get"},{"startTime":1334.73,"endTime":1337.16,"body":"those children immunized,"},{"startTime":1337.16,"endTime":1338.15,"body":"we are going to have a problem"},{"startTime":1338.15,"endTime":1340.37,"body":"with polio in this country again."},{"startTime":1340.37,"endTime":1341.54,"body":"So, you know,"},{"startTime":1341.54,"endTime":1343.4,"body":"COVID isn't as simple as we think,"},{"startTime":1343.4,"endTime":1344.87,"body":"because if you drew a map,"},{"startTime":1344.87,"endTime":1346.91,"body":"you could really just say it affects"},{"startTime":1346.91,"endTime":1349.34,"body":"every moment of our life"},{"startTime":1346.91,"endTime":1349.34,"body":"in every different way"},{"startTime":1349.34,"endTime":1353.483,"body":"for everybody, from"},{"startTime":1349.34,"endTime":1353.483,"body":"pre-birth to the elderly."},{"startTime":1357.56,"endTime":1359.27,"body":"So what about in the UK?"},{"startTime":1359.27,"endTime":1360.65,"body":"Well, in the UK for children,"},{"startTime":1360.65,"endTime":1362.78,"body":"we've seen that children"},{"startTime":1360.65,"endTime":1362.78,"body":"and more and more people"},{"startTime":1362.78,"endTime":1364.4,"body":"are going into poverty."},{"startTime":1364.4,"endTime":1366.14,"body":"And we know that this"},{"startTime":1364.4,"endTime":1366.14,"body":"affects children a lot."},{"startTime":1366.14,"endTime":1368.93,"body":"Once you go into poverty, I'll"},{"startTime":1366.14,"endTime":1368.93,"body":"show your slide in a minute,"},{"startTime":1368.93,"endTime":1370.79,"body":"but once you move into poverty,"},{"startTime":1370.79,"endTime":1374.39,"body":"you cannot have access"},{"startTime":1370.79,"endTime":1374.39,"body":"to the same healthy food,"},{"startTime":1374.39,"endTime":1376.22,"body":"you're not going to be able to run around,"},{"startTime":1376.22,"endTime":1378.98,"body":"you cannot have access to open spaces,"},{"startTime":1378.98,"endTime":1382.07,"body":"and really your health"},{"startTime":1378.98,"endTime":1382.07,"body":"and wellbeing is damaged."},{"startTime":1382.07,"endTime":1384.59,"body":"There was a rising risk"},{"startTime":1382.07,"endTime":1384.59,"body":"of domestic abuse cases"},{"startTime":1384.59,"endTime":1387.08,"body":"during COVID, and we are still seeing"},{"startTime":1387.08,"endTime":1388.61,"body":"the aftermath of that today."},{"startTime":1388.61,"endTime":1392.03,"body":"Because once you have an"},{"startTime":1388.61,"endTime":1392.03,"body":"increase in domestic abuse,"},{"startTime":1392.03,"endTime":1394.19,"body":"that is again, I'll keep"},{"startTime":1392.03,"endTime":1394.19,"body":"talking about trauma,"},{"startTime":1394.19,"endTime":1397.7,"body":"and we could do another"},{"startTime":1394.19,"endTime":1397.7,"body":"lecture on trauma itself,"},{"startTime":1397.7,"endTime":1399.86,"body":"but children have been traumatized"},{"startTime":1399.86,"endTime":1401.09,"body":"by the environment they were in"},{"startTime":1401.09,"endTime":1404.6,"body":"if they were in a household"},{"startTime":1401.09,"endTime":1404.6,"body":"where there was domestic abuse."},{"startTime":1404.6,"endTime":1407.0,"body":"That will stay with them,"},{"startTime":1404.6,"endTime":1407.0,"body":"that will not be removed,"},{"startTime":1407.0,"endTime":1408.56,"body":"and there's no undoing of that,"},{"startTime":1408.56,"endTime":1411.47,"body":"and we don't have the support"},{"startTime":1408.56,"endTime":1411.47,"body":"services to actually counsel"},{"startTime":1411.47,"endTime":1412.82,"body":"the children who went through that,"},{"startTime":1412.82,"endTime":1415.37,"body":"and they can't speak for themselves."},{"startTime":1415.37,"endTime":1419.21,"body":"Children didn't play, they were isolated,"},{"startTime":1419.21,"endTime":1421.61,"body":"they were not meeting friends,"},{"startTime":1421.61,"endTime":1423.707,"body":"they didn't learn how to"},{"startTime":1421.61,"endTime":1423.707,"body":"play with other children."},{"startTime":1423.707,"endTime":1427.04,"body":"And so again, we've got children"},{"startTime":1423.707,"endTime":1427.04,"body":"who can't even take risks."},{"startTime":1427.04,"endTime":1429.8,"body":"They were so scared during COVID"},{"startTime":1429.8,"endTime":1432.35,"body":"that they actually don't know"},{"startTime":1429.8,"endTime":1432.35,"body":"how to take risks anymore,"},{"startTime":1432.35,"endTime":1433.935,"body":"they don't know how to play,"},{"startTime":1433.935,"endTime":1436.04,"body":"and they don't know how to"},{"startTime":1433.935,"endTime":1436.04,"body":"interact with other children."},{"startTime":1436.04,"endTime":1438.47,"body":"Schools were closed, so many"},{"startTime":1436.04,"endTime":1438.47,"body":"children who would normally"},{"startTime":1438.47,"endTime":1441.41,"body":"get food in schools were not getting food."},{"startTime":1441.41,"endTime":1443.84,"body":"And that we know will"},{"startTime":1441.41,"endTime":1443.84,"body":"affect them with vitamin D,"},{"startTime":1443.84,"endTime":1445.37,"body":"they'll get rickets,"},{"startTime":1445.37,"endTime":1449.45,"body":"they'll get other physical"},{"startTime":1445.37,"endTime":1449.45,"body":"problems going forwards."},{"startTime":1449.45,"endTime":1450.62,"body":"They weren't playing, as I said,"},{"startTime":1450.62,"endTime":1454.28,"body":"no peer support, and lack of education."},{"startTime":1454.28,"endTime":1458.01,"body":"Education, I always talk"},{"startTime":1454.28,"endTime":1458.01,"body":"to people and I always say,"},{"startTime":1458.01,"endTime":1459.83,"body":"I have this acronym, HEE,"},{"startTime":1459.83,"endTime":1461.6,"body":"Health, Education, Environment."},{"startTime":1461.6,"endTime":1464.36,"body":"You can't detach any of those things,"},{"startTime":1464.36,"endTime":1466.91,"body":"because particularly for"},{"startTime":1464.36,"endTime":1466.91,"body":"children, if you're unhealthy,"},{"startTime":1466.91,"endTime":1468.2,"body":"it affects your education."},{"startTime":1468.2,"endTime":1470.33,"body":"If your environment's poor,"},{"startTime":1468.2,"endTime":1470.33,"body":"it affects your and"},{"startTime":2043.09,"endTime":2045.25,"body":"be with their friends,"},{"startTime":2045.25,"endTime":2048.7,"body":"and yet they're having these"},{"startTime":2045.25,"endTime":2048.7,"body":"health problems as well."},{"startTime":2048.7,"endTime":2050.8,"body":"So physical and mental health problems,"},{"startTime":2050.8,"endTime":2052.18,"body":"but the mental health"},{"startTime":2050.8,"endTime":2052.18,"body":"problems, like I Z,"},{"startTime":2217.39,"endTime":2219.74,"body":"I've got brain fog and people are, yeah,"},{"startTime":2219.74,"endTime":2221.29,"body":"you're just making it up."},{"startTime":2221.29,"endTime":2222.7,"body":"And people aren't making it up,"},{"startTime":2222.7,"endTime":2225.55,"body":"there's good data that"},{"startTime":2222.7,"endTime":2225.55,"body":"you're not making it up."},{"startTime":2225.55,"endTime":2228.253,"body":"But people are feeling left talking"},{"startTime":2240.7,"endTime":2242.3,"body":"about the double whammy, really,"},{"startTime":2243.18,"endTime":2247.69,"body":"the emotional and"},{"startTime":2243.18,"endTime":2247.69,"body":"physical impact of COVID,"},{"startTime":2247.69,"endTime":2249.31,"body":"which we've already talked about,"},{"startTime":2249.31,"endTime":2252.67,"body":"and also there was a quite"},{"startTime":2249.31,"endTime":2252.67,"body":"big racial inequality"},{"startTime":2252.67,"endTime":2254.68,"body":"that went on during COVID as well."},{"startTime":2254.68,"endTime":2258.541,"body":"We talked some of it about"},{"startTime":2254.68,"endTime":2258.541,"body":"housing, overcrowding,"},{"startTime":2258.541,"endTime":2260.11,"body":"there were some positive things,"},{"startTime":2260.11,"endTime":2261.55,"body":"people looked after each other,"},{"startTime":2261.55,"endTime":2263.74,"body":"people looked after their elderly,"},{"startTime":2263.74,"endTime":2266.05,"body":"but there was also some"},{"startTime":2263.74,"endTime":2266.05,"body":"issues around policing,"},{"startTime":2266.05,"endTime":2267.61,"body":"people being over policed"},{"startTime":2267.61,"endTime":2270.7,"body":"if you were from a Black"},{"startTime":2267.61,"endTime":2270.7,"body":"or Asian community."},{"startTime":2270.7,"endTime":2271.93,"body":"And that's a whole big study,"},{"startTime":2271.93,"endTime":2273.7,"body":"which I'm only touching on here,"},{"startTime":2273.7,"endTime":2275.45,"body":"but it's actually a study in income."},{"startTime":2286.9,"endTime":2291.52,"body":"There were workplace issues,"},{"startTime":2286.9,"endTime":2291.52,"body":"people felt left behind really."},{"startTime":2291.52,"endTime":2293.65,"body":"They felt that they didn't"},{"startTime":2291.52,"endTime":2293.65,"body":"know if their parents"},{"startTime":2293.65,"endTime":2296.02,"body":"were going to come back home"},{"startTime":2293.65,"endTime":2296.02,"body":"if their parents went out,"},{"startTime":2296.02,"endTime":2297.73,"body":"went to work, they didn't"},{"startTime":2296.02,"endTime":2297.73,"body":"know if they were going"},{"startTime":2297.73,"endTime":2300.01,"body":"to end up in hospital and"},{"startTime":2297.73,"endTime":2300.01,"body":"they were going to be dead"},{"startTime":2300.01,"endTime":2301.03,"body":"at the end of the day."},{"startTime":2301.03,"endTime":2302.2,"body":"And I'm not exaggerating,"},{"startTime":2302.2,"endTime":2304.39,"body":"in my own area where I live in Leicester,"},{"startTime":2304.39,"endTime":2306.13,"body":"there were intergenerational families"},{"startTime":2306.13,"endTime":2308.47,"body":"who were losing people one by one."},{"startTime":2308.47,"endTime":2309.73,"body":"We've never really addressed it,"},{"startTime":2309.73,"endTime":2312.31,"body":"we've never really talked about it."},{"startTime":2312.31,"endTime":2314.23,"body":"People felt that they had their savings,"},{"startTime":2314.23,"endTime":2316.33,"body":"their money depleted,"},{"startTime":2314.23,"endTime":2316.33,"body":"whatever money they had."},{"startTime":2316.33,"endTime":2317.92,"body":"And I'm sure we've all saved money,"},{"startTime":2317.92,"endTime":2319.36,"body":"and bit by bit it was depleted"},{"startTime":2319.36,"endTime":2321.13,"body":"because you had to try"},{"startTime":2319.36,"endTime":2321.13,"body":"or you didn't have a job,"},{"startTime":2321.13,"endTime":2322.9,"body":"you had to care for people."},{"startTime":2322.9,"endTime":2325.99,"body":"And some of it they had kept"},{"startTime":2322.9,"endTime":2325.99,"body":"for their families overseas"},{"startTime":2325.99,"endTime":2328.03,"body":"and were not able to send it"},{"startTime":2325.99,"endTime":2328.03,"body":"back to families overseas."},{"startTime":2328.03,"endTime":2330.25,"body":"So it wasn't just people"},{"startTime":2328.03,"endTime":2330.25,"body":"here that were suffering,"},{"startTime":2330.25,"endTime":2332.89,"body":"but people had families back"},{"startTime":2330.25,"endTime":2332.89,"body":"in their country of origin"},{"startTime":2332.89,"endTime":2335.56,"body":"as well that they were"},{"startTime":2332.89,"endTime":2335.56,"body":"having to connect with"},{"startTime":2335.56,"endTime":2337.54,"body":"or lose connection with."},{"startTime":2337.54,"endTime":2339.76,"body":"And sharing devices,"},{"startTime":2337.54,"endTime":2339.76,"body":"this has come up a lot,"},{"startTime":2339.76,"endTime":2341.5,"body":"and I haven't really"},{"startTime":2339.76,"endTime":2341.5,"body":"touched on this, and again,"},{"startTime":2341.5,"endTime":2343.15,"body":"we could talk about the technology"},{"startTime":2343.15,"endTime":2344.65,"body":"and was it helpful or not helpful,"},{"startTime":2344.65,"endTime":2346.96,"body":"but we live in a world of technology,"},{"startTime":2346.96,"endTime":2349.09,"body":"we have lived in a world of technology,"},{"startTime":2349.09,"endTime":2350.89,"body":"and we are so dependent on it."},{"startTime":2350.89,"endTime":2355.54,"body":"So children we're not"},{"startTime":2350.89,"endTime":2355.54,"body":"able to often have people."},{"startTime":2362.8,"endTime":2363.82,"body":"I mean, I think that was the case"},{"startTime":2363.82,"endTime":2365.05,"body":"for many of the elderly as well,"},{"startTime":2365.05,"endTime":2366.94,"body":"and I'm sure many of us"},{"startTime":2365.05,"endTime":2366.94,"body":"could talk about that,"},{"startTime":2366.94,"endTime":2369.94,"body":"is that, how did you"},{"startTime":2366.94,"endTime":2369.94,"body":"connect socially with people"},{"startTime":2369.94,"endTime":2372.82,"body":"if suddenly you had nobody to"},{"startTime":2369.94,"endTime":2372.82,"body":"help you with your Zoom okay."},{"startTime":2395.267,"endTime":2397.09,"body":"\"So I think it has"},{"startTime":2395.267,"endTime":2397.09,"body":"brought some feelings of disappointment,"},{"startTime":2420.73,"endTime":2422.71,"body":"there's feelings of being left behind,"},{"startTime":2422.71,"endTime":2424.03,"body":"there's feelings of not being able"},{"startTime":2424.03,"endTime":2427.39,"body":"to actually catch up"},{"startTime":2424.03,"endTime":2427.39,"body":"with school work as well."},{"startTime":2427.39,"endTime":2429.79,"body":"So education was a big issue we looked at."},{"startTime":2429.79,"endTime":2434.79,"body":"And it was interesting how"},{"startTime":2429.79,"endTime":2434.79,"body":"the combination of COVID,"},{"startTime":2436.15,"endTime":2439.99,"body":"plus feeling that you were"},{"startTime":2436.15,"endTime":2439.99,"body":"in some ways not integrating"},{"startTime":2439.99,"endTime":2441.82,"body":"into your school very well,"},{"startTime":2441.82,"endTime":2444.01,"body":"and because you didn't"},{"startTime":2441.82,"endTime":2444.01,"body":"have access to resources,"},{"startTime":2444.01,"endTime":2447.94,"body":"felt you were being"},{"startTime":2444.01,"endTime":2447.94,"body":"attacked from all sides."},{"startTime":2447.94,"endTime":2450.25,"body":"And we haven't really"},{"startTime":2447.94,"endTime":2450.25,"body":"addressed this at the moment."},{"startTime":2450.25,"endTime":2453.28,"body":"People felt quite isolated,"},{"startTime":2450.25,"endTime":2453.28,"body":"they felt quite stressed,"},{"startTime":2453.28,"endTime":2455.02,"body":"and they didn't feel that"},{"startTime":2453.28,"endTime":2455.02,"body":"other people
