emotive"},{"startTime":485.255,"endTime":488.823,"body":"way to get your attention."},{"startTime":490.08,"endTime":491.31,"body":"This is often what happens"},{"startTime":491.31,"endTime":492.3,"body":"and we'll go through this quickly."},{"startTime":492.3,"endTime":494.13,"body":"So if a young child is injured or dies"},{"startTime":494.13,"endTime":497.01,"body":"whilst they're in the"},{"startTime":494.13,"endTime":497.01,"body":"hands of a parent or carer."},{"startTime":497.01,"endTime":499.29,"body":"So this term is used,"},{"startTime":497.01,"endTime":499.29,"body":"non-accidental injury."},{"startTime":499.29,"endTime":501.57,"body":"It means suspected physical abuse."},{"startTime":501.57,"endTime":503.73,"body":"There can often be a traumatic insult"},{"startTime":503.73,"endTime":505.83,"body":"and we think that it's trauma"},{"startTime":505.83,"endTime":507.357,"body":"that we don't know what's caused it."},{"startTime":507.357,"endTime":508.92,"body":"And so parents of carers,"},{"startTime":508.92,"endTime":511.65,"body":"as well as everybody else, are suspected."},{"startTime":511.65,"endTime":513.27,"body":"The key issues here are that the child"},{"startTime":513.27,"endTime":515.04,"body":"can't tell you what's happened."},{"startTime":515.04,"endTime":516.3,"body":"Children are either non-verbal"},{"startTime":516.3,"endTime":518.4,"body":"or they can't point to"},{"startTime":516.3,"endTime":518.4,"body":"where it hurts on the body."},{"startTime":518.4,"endTime":521.16,"body":"So particularly young children and babies."},{"startTime":521.16,"endTime":522.72,"body":"And the parent or whoever's"},{"startTime":521.16,"endTime":522.72,"body":"looking after them"},{"startTime":522.72,"endTime":524.91,"body":"won't or can't say what has happened,"},{"startTime":524.91,"endTime":526.38,"body":"either 'cause they don't the"},{"startTime":583.95,"endTime":587.774,"body":"medics is what's happened?"},{"startTime":587.774,"endTime":591.03,"body":"What can we see that should be happening"},{"startTime":591.03,"endTime":592.56,"body":"and what else needs to happen?"},{"startTime":592.56,"endTime":594.09,"body":"- So one of the key aspects that hopefully"},{"startTime":594.09,"endTime":595.754,"body":"you'll understand from tonight is that"},{"startTime":595.754,"endTime":598.32,"body":"a doctor or health"},{"startTime":595.754,"endTime":598.32,"body":"professional looking after"},{"startTime":598.32,"endTime":600.09,"body":"a child who's coming to hospital"},{"startTime":600.09,"endTime":603.3,"body":"is in quite a different"},{"startTime":600.09,"endTime":603.3,"body":"circumstances or a scenario"},{"startTime":603.3,"endTime":606.36,"body":"to somebody being asked to"},{"startTime":603.3,"endTime":606.36,"body":"review the case afterwards"},{"startTime":606.36,"endTime":607.407,"body":"with all of the things that have happened"},{"startTime":607.407,"endTime":610.56,"body":"and to try and tell a court"},{"startTime":607.407,"endTime":610.56,"body":"what might have happened."},{"startTime":610.56,"endTime":612.78,"body":"So these are two very different
