1950s,"},{"startTime":2208.753,"endTime":2210.979,"body":"there was some fantastic ideas there."},{"startTime":2210.979,"endTime":2213.753,"body":"I saw nuclear-powered backpacks for people"},{"startTime":2213.753,"endTime":2216.139,"body":"so you could carry your"},{"startTime":2213.753,"endTime":2216.139,"body":"office around with you."},{"startTime":2216.139,"endTime":2218.596,"body":"And my favorite one, which is"},{"startTime":2216.139,"endTime":2218.596,"body":"true, I discovered party"},{"startTime":2230.63,"endTime":2231.853,"body":"was a nuclear peanut."},{"startTime":2231.853,"endTime":2234.064,"body":"I'm not sure it when"},{"startTime":2234.064,"endTime":2236.007,"body":"people were really excited"},{"startTime":2236.007,"endTime":2237.892,"body":"about radiation and the potentials."},{"startTime":2237.892,"endTime":2241.681,"body":"They hadn't really appreciated"},{"startTime":2237.892,"endTime":2241.681,"body":"the dangers at that stage."},{"startTime":2241.681,"endTime":2243.898,"body":"And so one wise group decided, aha,"},{"startTime":2243.898,"endTime":2245.709,"body":"radiation penetrates things."},{"startTime":2245.709,"endTime":2246.692,"body":"That's the whole point, right?"},{"startTime":2246.692,"endTime":2248.965,"body":"You're not safe just stood"},{"startTime":2246.692,"endTime":2248.965,"body":"behind something thin"},{"startTime":2248.965,"endTime":2250.777,"body":"because radiation goes it,"},{"startTime":2261.817,"endTime":2264.839,"body":"and it will be sterilized,"},{"startTime":2261.817,"endTime":2264.839,"body":"and everything will be fine."},{"startTime":2264.839,"endTime":2267.767,"body":"So they tested that and were"},{"startTime":2264.839,"endTime":2267.767,"body":"very shocked to discover"},{"startTime":2267.767,"endTime":2271.177,"body":"that still they got cans that"},{"startTime":2267.767,"endTime":2271.177,"body":"would go off and would cans"},{"startTime":2274.392,"endTime":2277.963,"body":"had this guy radiodurans"},{"startTime":2274.392,"endTime":2277.963,"body":"living inside them."},{"startTime":2277.963,"endTime":2280.25,"body":"And it turns out that this organism"},{"startTime":2280.25,"endTime":2284.879,"body":"is capable of withstanding"},{"startTime":2280.25,"endTime":2284.879,"body":"unbelievable levels of radiation."},{"startTime":2284.879,"endTime":2287.891,"body":"In fact, it will withstand"},{"startTime":2284.879,"endTime":2287.891,"body":"so much at radiation"},{"startTime":2287.891,"endTime":2291.013,"body":"that it withstand about a thousand that"},{"startTime":2383.314,"endTime":2386.843,"body":"have won the infamous medals"},{"startTime":2386.843,"endTime":2390.84,"body":"for being the most destructive"},{"startTime":2386.843,"endTime":2390.84,"body":"in the history of humanity."},{"startTime":2390.84,"endTime":2392.725,"body":"There is no one in the"},{"startTime":2390.84,"endTime":2392.725,"body":"world today I suspect,"},{"startTime":2392.725,"endTime":2395.386,"body":"who hasn't witnessed firsthand"},{"startTime":2392.725,"endTime":2395.386,"body":"the destructive power"},{"startTime":2395.386,"endTime":2398.817,"body":"of microbial
