criticized,"},{"startTime":263.79,"endTime":266.04,"body":"it's been criticized for many decades,"},{"startTime":266.04,"endTime":267.99,"body":"as technological determinism,"},{"startTime":267.99,"endTime":270.15,"body":"and there are undoubtedly problems"},{"startTime":270.15,"endTime":272.79,"body":"of the very notion of an"},{"startTime":270.15,"endTime":272.79,"body":"agricultural revolution"},{"startTime":272.79,"endTime":274.44,"body":"in this period,"},{"startTime":274.44,"endTime":276.093,"body":"but there is no question, I think,"},{"startTime":276.093,"endTime":278.31,"body":"that the spread of open field farming"},{"startTime":278.31,"endTime":281.43,"body":"really was one of the"},{"startTime":278.31,"endTime":281.43,"body":"transformative changes"},{"startTime":281.43,"endTime":282.573,"body":"of the Middle Ages."},{"startTime":284.85,"endTime":286.53,"body":"Now, we're link"},{"startTime":307.14,"endTime":311.85,"body":"between cereal farming"},{"startTime":307.14,"endTime":311.85,"body":"and wealth inequalities."},{"startTime":311.85,"endTime":315.27,"body":"So, Scott's focus is on the"},{"startTime":311.85,"endTime":315.27,"body":"prehistoric origins of farming,"},{"startTime":315.27,"endTime":317.58,"body":"he talks mostly about the cereal farming increased,"},{"startTime":322.95,"endTime":325.89,"body":"so too did wealth disparities."},{"startTime":325.89,"endTime":327.81,"body":"That, by the way, isn't really a new expresses it in"},{"startTime":330.21,"endTime":332.64,"body":"a very engaging way,"},{"startTime":332.64,"endTime":333.783,"body":"so it's worth a read."},{"startTime":335.1,"endTime":337.74,"body":"Now, medieval Europe is an obvious example"},{"startTime":337.74,"endTime":338.76,"body":"of what he's talking
