A clinical psychiatrist discusses what it means to treat violence: http://www.gresham.ac.uk/lectures-and-events/can-we-treat-violence

In this last lecture, Dr Adshead will discuss the conceptual implication of the term 'treatment' in relation to violence reduction and prevention. Drawing on her experience as a therapist working with violent men, she will discuss the purposes of therapy in this context; and the ethical implications.

She will review what is known about the effectiveness of therapy for violence perpetrators, and conclude with a discussion about what it might mean to treat human 'attitudes'.

The transcript and downloadable versions of the lecture are available from the Gresham College website: http://www.gresham.ac.uk/lectures-and-events/can-we-treat-violence
