What use are rights we do not exercise? Peter Bradley calls for a reinvigoration of our commitment to free expression and argues that association between citizens and the free, face-to-face exchange of ideas, information and opinions is a key not just to rebuilding trust and participation in our democracy but also to creating a more successful, a more robust and indeed a happier society.
