On this episode of Dead Drifters Society, we sit down with Martin Gerdin.
Martin is a young glass artist turned fly fisherman living in Basalt, Colorado, near the confluence of the Roaring Fork River and the Frying pan. Having blown glass since the age of 13, he has a robust skillset and knowledge of the material that lends itself to his modern work and passion well; making species of fish frequently targeted on a fly rod. If we look deeper into Martin's past we will find a dark story that is all too common, a battle with addiction. The confluence of glass and trout saved his life in 2019, when fly fishing and glass art came together for him. He now travels the country teaching young people how to blow glass, educating and spreading hope through his redemption arc, and perhaps most importantly seeking out the most beautiful aquatic specimens he can to further inspire his artwork.
