serial killers that leave their victims alive"},{"startTime":225.733,"endTime":228.966,"body":"and I think and I've said that news that"},{"startTime":228.966,"endTime":230.5,"body":"with my story and"},{"startTime":230.566,"endTime":233.9,"body":"and so when somebody in on your show said Soul Murder"},{"startTime":233.9,"endTime":236.0,"body":"I immediately connected with that"},{"startTime":236.0,"endTime":237.166,"body":"and so those are"},{"startTime":237.466,"endTime":240.133,"body":"those are all of those same themes that"},{"startTime":240.133,"endTime":244.3,"body":"that are in they're going to be in every single case"},{"startTime":244.4,"endTime":246.766,"body":"where there's abuse in church"},{"startTime":247.3,"endTime":248.666,"body":"I always get disheartened"},{"startTime":248.666,"endTime":250.333,"body":"discouraged about when we"},{"startTime":250.333,"endTime":254.1,"body":"when we hear these stories is just how easy it is for"},{"startTime":254.1,"endTime":256.8,"body":"it seems so easy for these leaders to"},{"startTime":257.066,"endTime":261.5,"body":"to gloss over the hideous nature of the crime"},{"startTime":261.7,"endTime":265.033,"body":"and dress it up and sanitize it with Grace and"},{"startTime":265.333,"endTime":266.2,"body":"and sin and"},{"startTime":266.2,"endTime":266.866,"body":"you know it's a sin"},{"startTime":266.866,"endTime":269.133,"body":"just a sin and"},{"startTime":269.133,"endTime":271.166,"body":"and they know what that does"},{"startTime":271.166,"endTime":274.666,"body":"at least I believe to us is believers and how"},{"startTime":275.133,"endTime":277.6,"body":"how our body reacts to those things"},{"startTime":277.933,"endTime":281.866,"body":"and it just it just makes me sick because I think about"},{"startTime":281.933,"endTime":284.666,"body":"for the people that have experienced abuse in churches"},{"startTime":284.666,"endTime":286.433,"body":"specifically sexual abuse"},{"startTime":286.566,"endTime":291.8,"body":"when they hear their leaders sanitize criminal activity"},{"startTime":291.8,"endTime":294.8,"body":"and the hideous nature of what sexual abuse is"},{"startTime":294.933,"endTime":300.033,"body":"with religious language that just has to be so"},{"startTime":300.133,"endTime":302.6,"body":"I don't know like you leave in such dismay"},{"startTime":303.0,"endTime":305.266,"body":"and I I just don't even know how you recover"},{"startTime":305.266,"endTime":307.633,"body":"and that's what I always most don't"},{"startTime":307.666,"endTime":308.1,"body":"yeah"},{"startTime":308.1,"endTime":311.066,"body":"like most don't recover from it in one way or settings"},{"startTime":323.6,"endTime":325.366,"body":"and I don't know it's just disgusting"},{"startTime":325.366,"endTime":328.6,"body":"I don't have a question it's just the thought so"},{"startTime":329.4,"endTime":331.566,"body":"and the observation and is accurate"},{"startTime":331.566,"endTime":335.266,"body":"that's because that is what tragically happens"},{"startTime":335.3,"endTime":336.766,"body":"like my specific case"},{"startTime":336.766,"endTime":339.433,"body":"is tied to the Southern Baptist Church"},{"startTime":339.6,"endTime":341.1,"body":"and so I have more"},{"startTime":341.333,"endTime":344.633,"body":"you know insight about that particular denomination"},{"startTime":345.4,"endTime":347.666,"body":"only because of my interaction with"},{"startTime":347.666,"endTime":349.2,"body":"with it as a whole"},{"startTime":349.2,"endTime":352.4,"body":"and in the individual churches and all of that"},{"startTime":352.4,"endTime":353.9,"body":"but they're all the same right"},{"startTime":353.9,"endTime":357.766,"body":"it doesn't matter whether it's Catholic or Baptist or"},{"startTime":357.9,"endTime":359.666,"body":"you know it just doesn't matter"},{"startTime":359.666,"endTime":360.7,"body":"Mennonite Church"},{"startTime":360.7,"endTime":364.3,"body":"I've spoken to so many different denominations"},{"startTime":364.4,"endTime":367.9,"body":"and every single one and it's cross faith"},{"startTime":367.9,"endTime":370.633,"body":"we've worked with a Jewish community"},{"startTime":370.9,"endTime":373.7,"body":"where you listen to their story"},{"startTime":373.766,"endTime":376.966,"body":"and their story was the same as what happened"},{"startTime":376.966,"endTime":378.7,"body":"because it's not right"},{"startTime":378.7,"endTime":382.466,"body":"it's not a faith problem it's a human problem"},{"startTime":382.666,"endTime":387.166,"body":"it just so happens that it is more susceptible"},{"startTime":387.566,"endTime":389.5,"body":"in faith communities"},{"startTime":389.8,"endTime":392.766,"body":"because you throw in that god factor"},{"startTime":393.166,"endTime":398.666,"body":"particularly where it is controlled by a chosen few"},{"startTime":398.666,"endTime":400.8,"body":"right select few"},{"startTime":401.3,"endTime":403.766,"body":"and you in most cases"},{"startTime":404.3,"endTime":408.6,"body":"you are you are subject and submissive to them"},{"startTime":409.066,"endTime":411.966,"body":"and they know how to also silence"},{"startTime":411.966,"endTime":414.8,"body":"just throw in another alliteration there"},{"startTime":414.933,"endTime":418.566,"body":"that submissiveness allows for the silence"},{"startTime":418.9,"endTime":422.2,"body":"I have so many questions that I wanna ask you"},{"startTime":422.2,"endTime":424.1,"body":"and I'm gonna hold them in my heart"},{"startTime":424.1,"endTime":426.9,"body":"and ask them at the end but I do wanna know"},{"startTime":426.9,"endTime":431.966,"body":"as we start to talk about this particular story"},{"startTime":432.266,"endTime":434.766,"body":"there were parts of this story where I was like okay"},{"startTime":434.766,"endTime":437.966,"body":"well like they kind of did that sort of right"},{"startTime":437.966,"endTime":442.3,"body":"so I guess my first question for you would be"},{"startTime":442.9,"endTime":446.7,"body":"if you're sitting in a church"},{"startTime":446.733,"endTime":449.8,"body":"and you get this type of a disclosure"},{"startTime":450.7,"endTime":453.366,"body":"what would be your recommendation"},{"startTime":453.366,"endTime":455.933,"body":"a lot of our listeners are sitting in churches"},{"startTime":455.933,"endTime":458.866,"body":"on a weekly basis like you said there"},{"startTime":458.866,"endTime":462.266,"body":"this is prevalent where there's vulnerable people"},{"startTime":462.266,"endTime":464.833,"body":"there are predators we just know that"},{"startTime":464.866,"endTime":467.066,"body":"let's say a church does the 5% right thing"},{"startTime":467.066,"endTime":468.833,"body":"and discloses Edgefield did"},{"startTime":469.1,"endTime":470.666,"body":"what's the proper next step"},{"startTime":470.666,"endTime":472.433,"body":"what is the smart next step"},{"startTime":472.666,"endTime":474.6,"body":"so I'm gonna answer that directly"},{"startTime":474.6,"endTime":475.066,"body":"but I wanna"},{"startTime":475.066,"endTime":477.4,"body":"I wanna something you said previously that right"},{"startTime":477.4,"endTime":479.733,"body":"they did that 5% of the thing"},{"startTime":479.733,"endTime":481.733,"body":"and isn't it interesting how that's the"},{"startTime":481.733,"endTime":483.066,"body":"what's what the church"},{"startTime":483.066,"endTime":486.333,"body":"these types of churches in these types of situations"},{"startTime":486.333,"endTime":488.2,"body":"that's what they want you to focus on"},{"startTime":488.2,"endTime":491.4,"body":"pay attention to this thing that we almost did right"},{"startTime":491.733,"endTime":495.066,"body":"they get that one thing right or almost right"},{"startTime":495.266,"endTime":498.066,"body":"and from that they expect a full pass"},{"startTime":498.066,"endTime":500.0,"body":"on everything they've done wrong"},{"startTime":500.5,"endTime":501.466,"body":"because again"},{"startTime":501.466,"endTime":505.3,"body":"because they're tied to our faith you must you"},{"startTime":505.5,"endTime":508.633,"body":"the way they weaponize a particular scripture"},{"startTime":508.666,"endTime":510.866,"body":"they tell you you must forgive"},{"startTime":510.866,"endTime":512.966,"body":"you have no choice in this matter"},{"startTime":513.0,"endTime":513.8,"body":"and there"},{"startTime":513.8,"endTime":516.233,"body":"so then"},{"startTime":534.0,"endTime":536.066,"body":"that's why I kind of wanted to add this to it"},{"startTime":536.133,"endTime":538.9,"body":"they got it half right or part congregate"},{"startTime":559.0,"endTime":562.866,"body":"bear the responsibility of following up on the work"},{"startTime":562.866,"endTime":564.6,"body":"the church says they did"},{"startTime":565.466,"endTime":567.6,"body":"verify that you do in fact"},{"startTime":567.6,"endTime":571.766,"body":"have the entire truth and sometimes you don't even"},{"startTime":571.766,"endTime":572.266,"body":"that's that"},{"startTime":572.266,"endTime":574.666,"body":"that's the hard part of this right"},{"startTime":574.666,"endTime":577.166,"body":"is folks don't know what they don't know"},{"startTime":577.166,"endTime":579.666,"body":"they don't know what questions to ask"},{"startTime":579.866,"endTime":583.4,"body":"so that's why you reach out to folks like y'all"},{"startTime":583.4,"endTime":585.7,"body":"to folks like us together we perpetrators"},{"startTime":687.733,"endTime":691.466,"body":"the predators get away with it almost almost always"},{"startTime":691.466,"endTime":693.2,"body":"and depending on their position"},{"startTime":693.666,"endTime":696.333,"body":"even if it comes out they get to now be like the"},{"startTime":696.333,"endTime":697.6,"body":"like god story"},{"startTime":697.6,"endTime":700.366,"body":"like we've seen in the Steve Chandler episode"},{"startTime":700.366,"endTime":703.0,"body":"in this episode the disclosure was like"},{"startTime":703.0,"endTime":705.066,"body":"praising him for his 30 years"},{"startTime":705.066,"endTime":708.166,"body":"that he's dedicated to Jesus and walked with Jesus"},{"startTime":708.166,"endTime":713.666,"body":"now it's like we watch predators get lionized"},{"startTime":714.066,"endTime":716.8,"body":"can I quote back from that episode"},{"startTime":716.8,"endTime":718.4,"body":"yeah what they"},{"startTime":718.4,"endTime":721.9,"body":"cause I wrote it down word for word about this was
