S4E4: What's my legacy?

Season 4 Episode 4

Over the last two decades India has seen rapid urbanisation resulting in social, cultural, economic and ecological dilemmas for today’s young Indians. One seems to be getting lost in the din of everyday life where emotional safety of a joint family is giving way to a nuclear family and its nuances. Fond memories of summer vacations with a ‘gang of cousins’ at grandmas home seems to be a dream from distant past. How do I pass on to my kids the culture that I have grown up with? In providing for others how do I find space to provide for myself? Given my limited financial literacy, how do I invest wisely to meet the rapidly increasing cost of living? How do I play my role in conserving the ecology? What’s my legacy that I want to leave behind?

To explore these questions and more, here is a conversation with Sridevi Damodar, a corporate counsel presently managing the corporate legal portfolio at one of India’s largest private sector insurance companies. With roots in Kerala, she started her career as a lawyer assisting in legal cases at the Districts & Sessions court, Mangalore with brief stints at the High Court of Karnataka, Delhi High court and the Supreme Court before settling down with the corporate world in Mumbai, where she is currently based.
