Well, what's going? What's going on? What's going on my people, how we're doing community. Yes, hey, welcome back to the Hala Black Podcast where, hey, man, I'm excited to once again just have the opportunity to share with you some thoughts, some ideas, some things that inspire me but also keep me inspired, and to moving the needle right and to taking action.
Speaker 1:And one of the things I wanted to talk about today is taking risks to achieving your goals. Like, are you taking a proper risk in order to be where you want to be in the future? Which, okay, let me go right into. Our I am for the day, our I am for this week is I am desiring a future that depends on me presently taking risks? Yes, it depends on my present risk, the present risk that I'm taking, like right now. What are you talking about? Like? Are you taking enough risks? Are you taking risks to move the needle? Are you taking risks to get you where you want to be? Are you taking the risks Right? Calculated risks Speaking of calculated risks, calculated risks are often worth taking, even if they don't always result in positive outcomes. Without taking them, we would never know what could have been. Risk takers are often more satisfied. Did you know that? Did you know that risk takers are often more satisfied with their lives and happier with themselves than non risk takers?
Speaker 1:I got a couple quotes that I want to share with you guys, and I found these online and these were really kind of like mind blowing. I think they're sticky worthy. Put them on your mirror, put them on in the car, wherever you may get a chance to really reflect on this during the week. All right, and look the most see it the most right For one. The first quote the biggest risk is not taking any. Wow, let me say that again the biggest risk is not taking any risks. The biggest risk is for you to say that I'm not gonna take any risk. That's the biggest, that's the largest risk that you have out there, right, dive deeper into that right. Think about that for a second, second quote.
Speaker 1:Taking risks doesn't mean shrinking responsibility but embracing possibilities. Embracing possibilities, are you embracing the present, are you embracing the opportunities that are coming about and are you embracing the possibilities of what could be Now? Taking risks is often an essential component of achieving goals, right Goal achievement and achieving one's goal While they can feel, you know, daunting tasking, you know calculated risk can lead to significant personal and professional growth. I mean, think about that. You know first date that you go on, or you know you asking someone out, or you, you know putting in an application for a job, not knowing what it might be like, or you know you just having different conversations that might be sparked up Again. Personal and professional growth, as well as the realization of dreams and ambitions. We all have dreams. We started this year off with, I mean, some grand dreams and we want to see those succeed and we talk about it one step at a time. We talk about staying committed, staying dedicated, right, being one percent better each and every single day. That's all it takes in order for us to realize our dreams and ambitions can come to pass. Right, it takes those reps.
Speaker 1:Now I would love to share with you just a few reasons why taking risks can just be so beneficial. All right, number one opportunity for growth, like, think about the fact that stepping out of your comfort zone and taking risks exposes you to new experiences. I just had one today. I won't go deep into it because we got a lot to cover, but I just had an opportunity that I'd never done before. Right, and I took the opportunity. To you know, get out there to grow, to stretch myself, so to speak. I mean, that's what happens each and every single time that me myself gets on the microphone or will get an opportunity to be in front of large crowds. Right, it's opportunity for growth. It exposes me to a new experience, it challenges me and it often creates opportunities. Okay, think about the fact that this can lead to personal and professional growth, as you learn from success and failures alike. Like, think about that. We learn from success and failures. We learn like that. If life doesn't give us anything, it should give us a lesson to be learned from our success and failures alike, whether it be, again, personal or professional, if it's having a conversation with a spouse or a partner, if it's having, you know, a disagreement with a staff member or a team member, right, or a subordinate or someone that actually may be above you, right, think about the fact that, again, number one it has taken risk, has the opportunity for you to grow All right, that's number one.
Speaker 1:Number two overcoming fear. We talked about this in the last podcast episode. We talked about acknowledging and, you know, recognizing fear, right, but overcoming fear, facing and overcoming fear is a powerful way that we build confidence, like we talk about it all the time. Shout out to Norman, shout out to Robin, inhale confidence, exhale doubt, building confidence and resilience every single time I get up there on the microphone. Matter of fact, I had an opportunity. I've been helping and serving my community and working with the school and they are doing a talent. She wanted a young lady got up there to sing and she was so nervous and I told her just close your eyes, just do it All right, Now let's do it again, right, like it allowed for her to have those reps and to recognize that by taking risks, you confront your fears and develop the courage to tackle challenges head on, straight on. I'm talking about, like hey, starting stepping up to that starting line and just putting one foot in front of the other, right, getting with the community, getting with the group and allowing for your talent, your, your hard work, your dedication, your commitment to show for. So that's number two overcoming fear.
Speaker 1:Number three breaking through limits. Yes, this one right here. I love it. I love that breakthrough. We all love that breakthrough. We, we, we enjoy the breakthrough of limits when it comes to seasonal change, right. We love the breakthrough of limits when it's you know you finally accomplished or push past that PR right, whether you're running or that strength building activity, or say, for instance, you, you broke through the limitations that you may have had on your own self.
Speaker 1:Think about the fact that risk taking pushes you beyond perceived limitations and boundaries. It allows you to discover your true potential and achieve goals that may have seen, frankly, unattainable before. Right, like I mean. I think about me running a marathon. That was a goal that was unattainable before, but because I had the commitment to dedication and because I pushed those boundaries and I broke through those limits and I faced my fear and I took a risk, right At the age of 40 plus, to run my first marathon, like, think about that. Think about how iconic that is, think about how dynamic that is, think about all the things that you recognize and show the challenges that are put in front of you that you can get past. Okay, again, number three breaking through limits.
Speaker 1:Number four risk taking, innovation and creativity. Right, innovation and creativity. Think about the fact that when risk taking fosters innovation and creativity, it encourages you to think outside of the box and explore just really unconditional solutions. It encourages experimentation and the pursuit of just novel ideas. Right, it allows for you to be creative. It allows for you to use that other side of your brain, right, that says, hey, why can't I do this? Right, why isn't this thing for me? Think about that. Innovation and creativity we all are innovative, we all are creative. That's what we were created as right To be a creator, right To be innovative. So let's make sure to think about the fact that when we take risks, it allows for us, it encourages us, to think outside of that box and just truly, truly explore new and different ways, even if those different ways could just be about the different ways of thinking. Right, you may have grown up in a society and an environment where everyone thought the same, and you took a risk to think positive, or to think motivationally, or to think aspiring to the next level and trying to figure out exactly how to reach and achieve those different goals. Well, guess what that took innovation. That took creativity. I'm gonna be honest with you I didn't know that I could do what I do today and create a living for my family, for, you know, be able to be social with my friends, for me to be able to just really enjoy my life. I did not know that the risk that I was taking long time ago to try this different industry out right, would allow for me to become the individual that I am today, right, so that's number four innovation and creativity.
Speaker 1:Number five seizing opportunities. Ooh, I love this, I love this, I love this. I talk all the time, whenever I'm keynote, speaking about no opportunities wasted I talk about. You know, I remember hearing, hearing Eric ET, the hip hop preacher, talk about I can, I will, I must right, seize those opportunities. There are so many opportunities in life that come with inherent risk. Right, by being willing to take calculated risk, though, you position yourself to seize these opportunities and capitalize on them before yes, before they pass, you wanna make sure that you take age in every single opportunity as, again, a lesson to be learned, but then also an opportunity for growth, personal and professional. Again, here we are at number five, talking about taking risk and talking about achieving your goals, the goals that you've set out for, the goals that you've never possibly achieved prior to right. But you are matter of fact, you have it because you didn't do it at this age, right? So we'll just go ahead and say that you have never achieved the goals that you've set for yourself because, even if you've done something similar in the past, you never did it at the age with the experience and with the environment that you have behind you. Okay, so think about that. Number five seizing opportunities.
Speaker 1:Number six building resilience, facing setbacks and failures. There, it's an inevitable part of taking risks. It's an inevitable part inevitable part of reaching your goals. Right, you have to build resilience. I mean, I think about sports athletes, I think about my brother, johnny Adams, think about Kenny Jojo Smith, I think about Ryan Black, I think about so many people that I know personally, quentin, that have dealt with resilience in their life. And what did it teach them when taking these risks right? It taught them that these experiences could help build their resilience and teach them how to adapt, learn from their mistakes and preserve in the face of adversity.
Speaker 1:Whew, man, that's a conversation right there in itself. That's for somebody. That's for somebody out there that needs to build resilience. Right, you're trying to figure out how do I build resilience, how do I become, you know, stronger? Well, you might have to take some calculated risks. You may have to take calculated risks to recognize the risks that have been taken in the past that got you to where you are today.
Speaker 1:All right again, teaching you how to adapt, learning from those mistakes and persevering in the face of adversity. There's so much adversity around you. There's so many distractions around. Let's look at adversity as distractions. So many adverse and distracting moments throughout the day that can take you away from your planned goal. Right, I just don't feel like it. Or I just build a resilience, commit to it, do it, get it done. Impossible is nothing.
Speaker 1:Think about that. These are all things that allow for you to recognize that you can be resilient. You can get back up. You can get knocked down multiple times and get right back up on your feet to be the best version of yourself. That's number six building resilience.
Speaker 1:Number seven achieving goals and dreams. And it's the last one and we're going to land this plane right here. I know it's a little bit shorter, but you know, I just wanted to get straight to the point on this risk taking and we may even dive in a little bit deeper in future podcasts. But think about achieving your goals and dreams. I want you to visualize that. I want you if you're not driving right, if you're able to close your eyes, or you know take a moment to just really meditate on achieving your goals and dreams. Think about that. Some of the most significant accomplishments in life. They require taking bold risks Now. It could be whether you're starting a new business, whether you're pursuing a passion, whether you're making a major change in your life. You're pivoting in life. Shout out to the pivot podcast, justin Carter, I see you, cuzzo.
Speaker 1:Taking calculated risks can bring you closer to achieving your goals and realizing your dreams, being more self fulfilled within those dreams. Right, because you knew what it took. You knew the cost that there was associated with taking risks in order to get to where you wanted to go. Think about that relationship, right. Think about that mate, that partner, that person you chose to be with right. Think about the fact that you have a desire to be successful in life and in relationships. But, like, you took a risk when you chose that person to be your lifelong partner, when you chose that person to go alongside with you in business, you took a risk because you have no control over them. I talk about this all the time, especially when I'm talking to young couples. I say control the controllables. That's the only thing that you can control. Is you that? You are the only thing that you can control? So control that right.
Speaker 1:Again, if you're starting a business, you're taking a risk. You're saying that your concept can be actualized and now you can achieve that goal and that dream by committing yourself, being dedicated to your craft and learning how to be better daily. That's what we are right. This is your business. Talk about it before. Mind your business. Mind your business right.
Speaker 1:Pursuing a passion Like let's break that down just a little bit Pursuing a passion. When you pursue a passion, oftentimes there's no guarantee that there will be financial success. There's no guarantee, but there's a heart success, there's a spiritual success, there's a moment of gratitude and appreciation for the life that you have and that provides you the success or freedom, yeah, the success or freedom that you may need in order to become the person that you wanna be. You know we talk about this. Be, do, have right. Be the person that you wanna be in the future. Do the things that you need to do and that person has to do right, and you will have all those things that you wish right. You achieve those goals, you achieve those dreams right. Think about again that.
Speaker 1:However, it's important to know that not all risks, not all risks are created equal. Uh-uh-uh-uh-uh-uh-uh, I want you out there empty and out the bank account, starting a business, quitting your job, stopping your 401K, not no insurance, and you got a family to feed? Not saying that at all. We talking about calculated risk here. Right, like, not all risks are created equal and it's crucial that we must approach risk taking with careful consideration and strategic planning. You gotta plan these things out, you gotta write it down, you gotta read it, you gotta speak it, you gotta see it right and then you gotta take it into action. Remember calculated risk. They involve assessing the potential outcomes, weighing the pros, weighing the cons and making informed decisions. Well, ladies and gentlemen, I'm your favorite host in MC Ronnell Blackman and I hope you enjoyed this time right here with the Holla Black podcast, as we continue to encourage you to be better each and every single day than the last.
