What's Up Tybee

Tybee Bomb

Sandy McCloud

An accident between an Air Force F-86 fighter jet and a B-47 bomber on a chilly night in February of  1958 led to a 7,600-pound nuclear bomb being jettisoned into waters off Tybee Island, Georgia.   Savannah native Mickey Youmans was a child when it happened and shares memories of that event.  Youmans ended up becoming a filmmaker and even wrote and produced some documentaries shows about the accident.
