it's C. Michaelson here, and you know what? Like I promised, I brought Jay Lawrence back. Both of us have been doing a little bit of traveling in these past few weeks, and I went up to New York, and Jay, you stayed local right here

in Florida. Oh, I traveled all around the world. I went to Disney World. You went to Disney. Yeah.

So where did you stay in Disney?

Well, since we're DVC members, today, or, well, we were there on the 4th of July,

and we- Okay, so the holiday weekend.

Yeah. Mm-hmm. We stayed at the Saratoga Springs Resort and Spa.

Oh, okay. I know exactly that, that, in Saratoga Springs.

It's one of the... It's one of the older resorts, older DVC buildings.

It is. It really is.

And it came, it was in the sa- same place where they had the, um, Disney, uh, University. It wasn't Disney University. It was called Disney Academy or something like that.

And so that didn't go over real big, so they built Saratoga Springs all around it.

Now, you went to Saratoga Springs Resort-

and I was up near Saratoga Springs in New York.

Oh, my goodness. How close could we be?

Right. A couple- So we both spent some

time there thousand miles apart, yeah.

Well, you know, Saratoga Springs was a, a, a horse racing place in- It still is in New York.

Oh, yeah, and it was built like in the 1800s- Yes in New York.

But, uh, so they put the Victorian style resort charm at Disney.

is very pretty. And you know one of the, one of the things I, uh, discovered was that they didn't want to put any palm trees in the resort area. They wanted it to look like the new, the newly, the New York area. So there's no palm trees in, uh, Saratoga Springs.

That's pretty odd considering there's probably palm trees all around the outside- Well, of

course. But I, I, it just, it just had a different feel to it.

Now, a funny story.

Uh, years ago I used to live up near Saratoga Springs.

Yes. And the track was one of my clients.

And, uh, my cousin and I went to have some lunch there- Uh-huh during racing season, and we were down at the bottom, and we were having a nice lunch, and we just finished lunch, and there were several tiers of the restaurant.

So above us was another table and chairs, and the waitress didn't realize when she dumped the water pitcher out, that there were people below.

Yes. Yes. My cousin got a little bit drenched with the water that was dumped on her head. Needless to say, that lunch was free that day. Oh,

yeah. Another thing about, uh, Saratoga Springs, if I may mention it- Mm-hmm you can see the golf course. It kinda wanders around it, and so you can see that from, from the village itself or from the resort.

Okay. So if you're staying at Saratoga Springs, can you go and play golf?

me. She figured, "Well, you're not gonna go." Yeah. "Mind if I get rid of them?" So now you spent some time up at Disney for the holiday.

Turf Club Dining And Treehouse Villas

I gotta mention, you know, you're gonna ask me about food.

And Saratoga Springs has a great Surf Club Bar and Grill.

And we had dinner there one night.

Well, the, uh... I had... What did I have? I had the prime rib. Everybody else had something different.

Yeah. But I had the prime rib, and it was very good. And, and the thing about the, the Turf Club, it reminds you of an old clubhouse for the racetrack. Oh. So, you know, uh-

Just like where my cousin got drenched.

Yes. Yeah. Except there was only one, one floor. Yeah. And also, the, the, um, Saratoga Springs is, has the Treehouse Villas experience, which is part of Saratoga Springs. It's off to the side.

Now, I'm very familiar with the Treehouse Villas, 'cause they will house, uh, a few more people than just two to four.

Yes. I, I have a family- They have a quite a few I know that they're bringing their whole family down for that.

So you stayed in Saratoga Springs, but you can't go to Saratoga Springs without at least attending a couple of the parks.

One of the negatives about Saratoga Springs bus service, it's the last stop on the road.

Upstate New York Pizza And Ice Cream

you know, like I said, you know, we've been rediscovering America.

You've been, you were here rediscovering right here in our backyard. I went up to New York, um, went to visit my daughter, and she lives in the upstate region of New York.

Um, just kinda relaxed. She took us to some of the local restaurants up there. And I like to do that

She brought me to a pizza parlor, and I'm saying that with a New York accent, pizza. Pizza parlor, and it was delicious.

Oh, yeah. We had to go there twice, and we were only there for a week, and we had to go twice to this restaurant. Oh,

wow. What kind of pizza did you have?

Um, we had the two separate types. They did Sicilian, which is the square thick, and then they had the regular round.

And we tried that, but they used lots of fresh ingredients. Oh, yeah? Fresh basil and fresh Parmesan cheese, and it was all so fresh and delicious.

Well, the round pizza is more of a thinner crust.

we came back to Florida. Well, you know, the place to go right now is the Magic Kingdom.

And, um, and of course our family, my... You know, my wife's Italian.

And if you don't know, you're having breakfast, you gotta know what you're having for dinner at night, you know? Of course. Or breakfast the next day.

I tried to put my feet on top of the bag, and then every time the flight attendant or a person walked past, I had to crunch my shoulders in- Uh-huh so they wouldn't knock into me.

And then she decided last minute, "Nah, I don't feel like driving," and she just bought us tickets, and we flew back.

It's one of the... It's one of the older resorts, older DVC buildings.

And it came, it was in the same place where they had the, Disney, University. It wasn't Disney University. It was called Disney Academy or something like that.

And so that didn't go over real big, so they built Saratoga Springs all around it.

But, uh, so they put the Victorian style resort charm at Disney.

is very pretty. And you know one of the, one of the things I, uh, discovered was that they didn't want to put any palm trees in the resort area. They wanted it to look like the New York area. So there's no palm trees in, uh, Saratoga Springs.

So above us was another table and chairs, and the waitress didn't realize when she dumped the water pitcher out, that there were people below.

yeah. Another thing about, uh, Saratoga Springs, if I may mention it- Mm-hmm you can see the golf course. It kinda wanders around it, and so you can see that from, from the village itself or from the resort.

Yes. Yeah. Except there was only one floor. Yeah. And also, Saratoga Springs has the Treehouse Villas experience, which is part of Saratoga Springs. It's off to the side.
