In the last of this little 3 part series on why emotional regulation is so important, we touch on the fact that when we are emotionally regulated, we teach others what emotional regulation looks like.
The importance of witnesses on our path to virtue is invaluable. In fact, growing in virtue without witnesses is near impossible!
As mothers, the best way to teach our children emotional regulation is to embody it. This is the best way to teach our children....anything!

You cannot emotional regulate if you aren't taking basic care of yourself. When you are a young mom, I know it's so hard to do even the basics! But the point is to do what you can, and start with awareness of where you are.
The second episode of a 3 part series on why emotional regulation is so important.
It today's episode, I'm talking about how emotional regulation helps you strengthen your will. Your will is your ability to choose something. It is your inherent and God-given ability to exercise your freedom - you may not be able to choose every circumstance in your life, but you always have the freedom to choose how you respond to it. So many of us are emotionally reacting to the circumstances in our lives, and we live in a culture that says "Well, what could you do? You didn't have a choice." And that couldn't be farther from the truth. Yes, we have genetics and predispositions, but that doesn't dictate our ability to work with what we've got.

The first in a 3 part series on why emotional regulation is so important.
In today's episode I give a short explanation of why emotional regulation is important for our decision making skills. We make hundreds of decisions every day, and when our decisions are strictly emotion based, it can affect our whole life - our relationships, our finances, our prayer life, our happiness, our holiness - everything!
When we can grow in emotional regulation so that we can still make sound decisions that are not just reactions to our emotions, we will be on our way to making good habits and growing in virtue.

In today's episode, I'm sharing the conversation that I had with Allie Brooke, host of The Growth Mindset Gal. We talked about self-care, self-compassion, and how little everyday steps are crucial in taking care of yourself - even if its simply washing your face and brushing your teeth!

In this episode, I discuss my journey in recognizing that I was NOT actually being called to religious life, and how I pivoted in handling my mental health as I entered marriage and motherhood.
