Normalising Pet Loss Grief with Veterinary Nurse and Pet Eden Founder, Tracey Woods
May 02, 2022 Episode 17

#017 - Pet loss is something we deal with almost every day in veterinary practice, but how often have you stopped to think about the actual grief journey your client is about to embark on? What about your own grieving process, as a veterinary professional? Because for sure we do grieve for our patients, those pets we become attached too, that aren't our own. And that is absolutely ok.

Tracey Woods has had a very long and successful veterinary nurse career, spanning almost 30 years (and it is far from over); and during this time she has connected with thousands of clients. Through her own experiences, both personal and professional, Tracey came to the realisation that there was so much more that could be done, to support clients that had suffered the loss of a pet. So, she subsequently went on to become a trained pet loss bereavement counsellor, discovering the Grief Recovery Method in the process, before starting her Perth-based business, Pet Eden.

Tracey is one very special veterinary nurse. She's a born cheerleader (and even has the t-shirt to prove it); and in this episode she shares with us some of her own personal experiences with pet loss grief, as well as some valuable resources and tools we can utilise in practice, to help our clients and ourselves, embrace the natural grieving process.

In the words of Queen Elizabeth II, "Grief is the price we pay for love." Now, isn't that the truth!
