Hey guys, welcome back to the show. Hope you guys are having a great start to your week. I'm a little more upbeat this week. I feel like we're making progress. The roadblocks and the speed bumps are slowing down. We're going to bring this to the finish line on time, close this out and be done. But the other thing is I'll have peace while I go through this and I laugh because I truly want to almost cry at times with this, because this process has been daunting, to say the least, and to be able to get everything right and then on time has been very painful, to say. I don't want to use say the least, but that's where I'm at this morning, guys. It's been painful. So, guys, this week I just want to talk about just where I'm at mentally mindsets, and then how I'm trying to focus on resetting, getting us to the finish line, but also making sure I'm being thankful.
Speaker 1:There have been turns and twists and all types of stuff that have happened through this process and you know what, when I initially found out about them, I was angry and was like, how are we going to get this done? But the man upstairs blessed us because some of the things that we found and I'll explain after this. We close, we move forward. Some of the things we found were big deals. They were a lot of trouble that could have been problems for us down the road. After all, this has already closed out, so I'm very thankful that we found it. Am I learning from this? Yes, am I going to get better with what we're doing? Yes, I don't know if I've shared on this podcast, but I will share again. One of the things that we don't do today we'll start doing in our next round of builds is we're going to do an additional inspection outside of the city to where we have draw inspections going on. So if there's any minute things that the city missed, this person will actually find it because his or her job we've picked somebody out to be to go through the draw process or that phase of construction with a fine tooth comb and it's going to be on him to tell us for sure 100 that we're good to go. And I know there's not 100% in anything, but with what he's found through this process, I feel like he is our backstop, he's our rock, and that's where we need to be.
Speaker 1:Something else that I really want to get into is being able to connect more with the city inspectors, understanding what the. I know what they're looking for, but I think we need to understand how they're looking for it, because there's some challenges. We're not perfect. There are things that have been missed, things that we could have done better, but I also think there's things that could have been done better from the inspection process and I want to be part of the solution, not the hindrance. They correct eyeballs on the process, make sure that we are not missing anything and making sure that we are on top of anything that we find and we resolve it immediately and it doesn't lag.
Speaker 1:I guess the best way to describe this is this is being as thorough as we possibly can to be able to take care of the issues as they come up, because today I don't think we're nimble enough to actually take care of those situations as they come up. The best way I know how to do that is being proactive and not saying we haven't been proactive. I think we can do a better job at it. We can always improve, and that's what I want to. Really I'm going to finish on the backside of this and be short this week is we can always do better in life, whether it's your personal life, your family life, business life we always can do better.
Speaker 1:It's this matter of how much change are you willing to take on, how much are you willing to look? Self-reflection, because that's really what I'm looking at for myself. This is self-reflection for me, and being able to adapt and overcome but also make the necessary changes so everybody is on the same page and we don't mess around when it comes to getting things done. I hate letting things lag and not finish up. It's a challenge. Letting things keep on going and going and it drags out is just it's too much. Let's nip it in the bud and move forward, learn from it, become better and push ourselves to do better, because that translates to life, because we're not here to self-service ourselves, we're here to help others.
Speaker 1:And this journey has been a very daunting task for me, because I have been self-centered, because it's been self-preservation. To get all of this done and to be able to ensure that we finish has been the most stressful thing in my life. And sometimes I just wonder why have I been put in this situation and what am I learning from it? And I'm sure there are more lessons to be learned and I'm trying to be as open-minded as I possibly can, but I know I've made mistakes along the way and I have to be able to ensure those mistakes don't get made again on future deals. But then also, at the same time, that knowledge has to be passed on, sharing it with others, making sure that the things that you've gone through in life you're able to share it with others and that's where I'm going to finish up here, guys is how good are we if we don't actually share our lessons in life and learnings with others that are going through or have gone through that need help in a situation that you've been part of.
Speaker 1:It's selfish, and I've caught myself looking at myself in the mirror saying that's really selfish. Ryan, you could really be helping other people and being able to put yourself out there, and I think part of it is because it's an embarrassment. I view it as a negative thing, but in the end, if I can help somebody else get through a situation that I got through, that's huge, because sometimes I feel like there's no one else out there that's gone through this or there's anybody that's going to be able to help me, and that is that's a wrong mindset to have, but also it's reality. So making sure that I surround myself with others that have my best interest at heart, but also will step in and help me when I'm struggling. And that's what I want to do and make sure that I'm helping others when they're struggling. Stay safe, stay healthy. I'll see you guys on the other side.
