Hey there, and welcome to the entrepreneur heroes podcast. In this episode, I'm going to be talking about, can you really be entrepreneurial in a career? Well, the answer is yes. Why do you not think you can't be? Well, let's see, right? Lots of companies have some sort of culture, they have hierarchy. And they have job titles. So all of that together, makes you pretty scared to think, How can I actually climb the ladder? Now, let's say hard work pays off. But I can tell you it doesn't. Because I've worked hard for some of these biggest companies, blue chip companies in the world, right, some of these big investment banks, and it doesn't pay off. And you know what, that's just life, you're gonna go through different hoops, you're gonna go through hurdles, you're gonna go through different paths, it doesn't mean you should be stuck. And one thing I've seen in the corporate world is people get stuck. One of my first jobs I've done, my supervisor has been in that role for 10 years. From school leaving to now in her 30s, more than it was she was in her 30s. And when I heard that, I actually got upset. I was like, how could you not progress? Why are you only the supervisor? Why have you not changed job? Why have you not tried to excel? Because you've got a senior manager, or VP who is younger than you? How does that work? But it's only now I'm realizing that there's two different types of mindset. There's people with goals, that want to climb the ladder, there's people that are just happy to plod along. Don't get me wrong, there will be opportunities that don't always go. And maybe you're an entrepreneur by nature, and you're stuck in a job. And you think you cannot be yourself. But you can. Because if you think about entrepreneurial, what is it? What does it mean, to me it means finding solutions, you know, solving problems communicating and being innovative. So, most jobs, I believe, serve a purpose. They solve a problem, maybe a very small problem in the cog, but ultimately connected to be part of a big problem. Right? So it could be a small cog that unlocks something higher up the chain. So what can you do to be seen to be found? Well, number one is to speak. It's to get your voice heard in the right places, it's to show up, it's to show what you've done is to take ownership of what you've done. You've got people out there that will be ascus, as you see that we all know somebody you're thinking of and ask as of right now that you know. And you've got some people that do the work and they're not heard, they're not appreciated. And if we think about it, a lot of people leave their jobs because they don't really feel valued, or their manager isn't really a leader. They're more of a dictator. So the key is, is to use your innovation is to solve problems. And it's to show yourself to the right people. And it's that simple. You can definitely be entrepreneurial, you can get up the career ladder, you can move up by showing what you do, don't be afraid, because as scary as it is to do a presentation, or to speak up or to show your work. It's a lot scarier than being in the same position for 10 years. So take some risks, obviously, know the company or in assess the kind of culture is and be aware. That's it. If you have to go and show people what you've done, do it because if it can help you climb the ladder, do it if it's going to give you a pay rise, do it because you deserve it. You know I'm sure before this pandemic, people were commuting spending time. How many weeks is that? It's a lot. Do you think your value shouldn't be recognized. Of course it should.

So 100% I believe you can be entrepreneurial in your career, you know, I've had to be, I've had to show my work, I've had to present. And I've had to take risks, I've had to stand up in front of people that I shouldn't even be in a room with bias, because I believed what I was doing could make change. And if you truly believe what you're doing can make change, you can definitely be entrepreneurial in your career. And if you really are an entrepreneur, then you can also do it on the side. And then you can have the best of both worlds. So let me know how it goes. I'd love to hear any stories or any comments of you guys, just taking the change and, and taking it in your company. Because I tell you, if you start making these changes, you might not even hate your job, you might want to actually excel and be motivated. And when you bring that to the table, when you show those results, you become less of a number you become more valuable and you're going to be one of those people that they're going to want to keep hold of and retain. So I look forward to seeing your results. See you guys on the next episode.
